Resident Evil Coming to Dead by Daylight

Behaviour Interactive is excited to team up with Capcom to introduce the world of Resident Evil into the dark twisted horror universe of its hit asymmetrical 4v1 game: Dead by Daylight. The partnership was announced today during Capcom’s Resident Evil Showcase livestream.

The Resident Evil Chapter is coming in June to Dead by Daylight. More details will follow.

“We are excited to be working with the legendary studio Capcom to create the next Dead by Daylight chapter”, says Dave Richard, Creative Director for Dead by Daylight. “It is an honor and an absolute joy to welcome the original survival horror game Resident Evil in The Entity’s universe. The result is fantastic and will surprise new players and veterans alike. Players can expect a chapter packed with iconic content and novel ways to sacrifice or survive inspired by the renowned franchise.”

“This is such an awesome new addition to our universe! If you had told us, five years ago when we launched, that one day we would be adding characters from the legendary Resident Evil world into our game, none of us would have believed you”, explains Mathieu Côté, Game Director for Dead by Daylight. “We are so very grateful to Capcom for everything they’ve done over the years to bring horror to the world of video games. And today, we get to bring these icons into Dead by Daylight. It is an incredibly proud moment for us.”

Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness Gets A New Trailer

Known as the gold standard of survival horror games with over 100 million units shipped worldwide, Resident Evil is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year with the upcoming original CG anime series, RESIDENT EVIL: Infinite Darkness, launching exclusively on Netflix in July this year.

Eiichiro Hasumi, the critically-acclaimed director behind some of Japan’s biggest live-action hits including the “Umizaru”- or “Mozu” series, as well as “The Sun Does Not Move” will be directing the upcoming series. As this marks director Hasumi’s first anime work, he spoke about his joy and aspirations in taking on this new challenge: “Being involved in a work with such a long history and so many fans gave me more joy than it did pressure. While this is a full CG anime, I strove to adjust the camerawork and lighting atmosphere to resemble the live-action filming I usually do to instill this work with a sense of realism. I hope that both fans of the “Resident Evil” series and non-fans alike can enjoy watching the series in one go.”

Yugo Kanno will be responsible for the musical score, breathing life into the epic tale. Kanno is a versatile musician active in a wide range of fields and genres, including documentaries and games, with a particular focus on films, TV dramas, and animation. Looking back on the days he spent experimenting and creating the music that expresses the unique atmosphere of the much-loved series, he says: “I inherited the spirit of the many people who worked on the previous “Resident Evil” titles and took on the challenge of creating a new atmosphere through trial-and-error. I was keenly aware that this work would be released on Netflix, so I focused on the scale of a Hollywood film so that overseas viewers could also enjoy this. Since I received the same detailed orders as usual from Director Hasumi, I was not particularly conscious of the fact this was an animation during its production. In fact, it feels like I am only now realizing that this is an animated series (laughs).”

A character trailer focused on Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield has also been revealed. Leon, who is investigating a hacking incident, and Claire, visiting to petition the government to construct a welfare facility, have a chance reunion at the White House. A strange drawing from a little boy and an unexpected power outage in the White House mark the beginning of the infinite darkness.

About Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness

In 2006, there were traces of improper access to secret Presidential files found in the White House’s computer network. American federal agent Leon S. Kennedy is among the group invited to the White House to investigate this incident, but when the lights suddenly go out, Leon and the SWAT team are forced to take down a horde of mysterious zombies. Meanwhile, TerraSave staff member Claire Redfield encounters a mysterious image drawn by a young boy in a country she visited, while providing support to refugees. Haunted by this drawing, which appears to be of a victim of viral infection, Claire starts her own investigation. The next morning, Claire visits the White House to request the construction of a welfare facility. There, she has a chance reunion with Leon and uses the opportunity to show him the boy’s drawing. Leon seems to realize some sort of connection between the zombie outbreak at the White House and the strange drawing, but he tells Claire that there is no relation and leaves. In time, these two zombie outbreaks in distant countries lead to events that shake the nation to its very core.

The towering factory complex of Steeltown lies in southwest Colorado. Steeltown manufactures all the trucks, armor, weapons, and robots that keeps Colorado running and the Patriarch in power, but deliveries are mixed up, late, or outright missing.

The team of Rangers sent to investigate find the complex in disarray. Striking workers, bandit raids…not to mention the gates are locked tight. Players can explore the Steeltown in solo or co-op mode, taking on new quests and facing a horde of new robotic enemies. New mechanics have also been added to the tactical combat – stacking status effects, elemental shields, telegraphed attacks, and non-lethal weapons – giving fighters a new dimension and allowing players to solve battles in brand new ways.

These new elements will also expand into the base game, along with new weapons, armor and encounters, giving the game a whole new experience and, depending on how far they’ve already progressed, will scale the combat and gear when entering Steeltown ensuring level-appropriate challenges.

“The Battle of Steeltown represents not just a fantastic new chapter in Wasteland 3’s story,” says Game Director, David Rogers. “Full of choice, consequence, and Wasteland 3’s unique brand of humor, it’s also a culmination of all the hard work we’ve put into the game since launch. For those playing Wasteland 3 for the first time, they’ll be playing the best version of the game. For players coming back to visit Steeltown, they’re in for a treat with new story, characters, and combat mechanics that really change up tactics in challenging new ways.”

The games music’s supervisor, Mary Ramos, along with composer Mark Morgan, have also added their own original scores and post-apocalyptic inspired covers.

New AI War 2 Update News

Arcen Games is excited to announce the launch of a truly major update for space strategy cult hit AI War 2, along with the May 18th release date for its upcoming expansion AI War 2: Zenith Onslaught.

The most devious and acclaimed artificial intelligence in strategy gaming continues to evolve, with an ever-growing pantheon of allies and enemies. AI War 2 is a grand strategy/RTS hybrid against an overwhelming, inhuman enemy who has conquered the galaxy.

“The new Paradigm Shift update (v2.800) for AI War 2 reimagines players’ relationship to luck within the context of the game,” according to lead developer Chris McElligott Park. “Procedural generation is an excellent tool often misused, but we’ve always had two competing ideologies within the AI War titles: one, you’re constructing an empire of your own design; and two, you’re having to adapt to what you find and be clever with tools that are not always your top favorites.”

“There has always been a push and pull between these two competing ideas, and this new Paradigm Shift, as we call it, brings them into greater balance, while also reducing the impact of luck, and increasing the number of shooting conflicts you’re likely to get into.”

The upcoming May 18th release of the Zenith Onslaught expansion is absolutely jam-packed with features as well. From “small” details like powerful new elite Cruisers that you can put in a new slot in your fleets, to galaxy-spanning empires like the Dark Zenith and the Zenith Architrave, this expansion is filled with new tools to use and new foes to untangle. Wormhole Borers let certain AIs alter the map topology, while Nomad Planets alter the map topology on their own as they roam around. The Zenith Miners hollow out entire planets, and Golem variants abound.

This expansion will also coincide with AI War 2 fully launching its multiplayer mode. More details to come as we approach the release date next month.

AI War 2 is available now for $19.99 via Steam on Windows PC, Mac, and Linux platforms.
