South Park: The Fractured But Whole Hits Nintendo Switch in April

SAN FRANCISCO — March 8, 2018 — Today, Ubisoft® and South Park Digital Studios announced that South Park™: The Fractured But Whole™ will be available on Nintendo Switch on April 24. Created, written and directed by Trey Parker and Matt Stone and developed by Ubisoft San Francisco, South Park: The Fractured But Whole is an outrageously offensive superhero adventure that players can now experience anywhere, anytime on the Nintendo Switch. South Park: The Fractured But Whole is rated M for Mature and is available for the suggested retail price of $59.99.

In addition to the base game, the first two pieces of add-on content, “Danger Deck” and “From Dusk Till Casa Bonita”, will be available for purchase either separately or as part of the season pass. The third piece of add-on content, “Bring the Crunch”, will also come to the Nintendo Switch when it releases this summer.

In The Fractured But Whole, crime is on the rise in South Park, and the streets have never been more dangerous. As the sun sets on the quiet Colorado town, terror, havoc, and chaos are unleashed as the seedy underbelly of the city comes alive. The town needs new heroes to come to the rescue. Eric Cartman seizes the opportunity to save the town and create the best superhero franchise ever, his own Coon and Friends, with himself, The Coon, as the leader.

In Danger Deck, players will be teleported to never-before-seen locations throughout South Park to fight enemy encounters custom-crafted by the Freedom Pals. These increasingly difficult encounters will test and push the limits of any superhero.

In From Dusk Till Casa Bonita, Mysterion’s sister is in trouble. She’s fallen in with the Vamp Kids of South Park, who have descended upon Cartman’s favorite restaurant, Casa Bonita. Players will need to fight darkness with darkness and embrace the new Netherborn class, which offers four new occult powers. Enter the battle alongside a new buddy, Henrietta the Goth.

Jon Favreau to Write and Product New Live Action Star Wars Series

March 8, 2018 – Lucasfilm is excited to announce that Emmy-nominated producer and actor Jon Favreau has signed on to executive produce and write a live-action Star Wars series for Disney’s new direct-to-consumer platform. Favreau is no stranger to the Star Wars galaxy having played roles in both the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series and in the upcoming Solo: A Star Wars Story.

“I couldn’t be more excited about Jon coming on board to produce and write for the new direct-to-consumer platform,” says Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy. “Jon brings the perfect mix of producing and writing talent, combined with a fluency in the Star Wars universe. This series will allow Jon the chance to work with a diverse group of writers and directors and give Lucasfilm the opportunity to build a robust talent base.”

Favreau is thrilled to be returning to the Star Wars galaxy: “If you told me at 11 years old that I would be getting to tell stories in the Star Wars universe, I wouldn’t have believed you. I can’t wait to embark upon this exciting adventure.”

Disney’s collaborations with Favreau extend back a decade, when he helped launch the Marvel Cinematic Universe as director of Iron Man and Iron Man 2 and as an executive producer of the Iron Man and Avengers films for Marvel Studios. For Disney, he directed and produced the massively successful The Jungle Book, which won an Academy Award for its groundbreaking visual effects. He is currently in production on Disney’s highly anticipated reimagining of The Lion King, set for release in 2019.

The untitled Star Wars live-action series does not yet have a release date.

Razer Electra V2 Analog Gaming Headset Review

The Razer Electra V2 analog gaming headset is Razer’s newest value-minded headset option. The slightly smaller brother to the Razer Electra V2 USB, the Electra V2 analog is ten dollars less. The Electra V2 analog gaming headset features a very Razer-familiar design of black and gunmetal grays highlighted with neon green lines. It fits right in with the rest of the Razer headset stable, despite being a lot less expensive than the rest of them. But, just because the Razer Electra V2 is cheaper than the rest of the Razer line, don’t think that it is not well-made. In fact, the Electra V2 features a uni-body aluminum frame and brushed aluminum headband that, while very light, is of solid construction.

An interesting note with the Razer Electra V2 analog is that, despite using a 3.5mm jack interface, it can output virtual surround sound using Razer’s “Razer Surround” software. This is Razer’s software solution and performs just as well as the USB virtual surround sound dongles you find in some other headphones of this category. The surround sound effect is great and, with the Electra V2’s 40mm drivers, provides good sound quality for those gamers looking to enjoy their favorite games.

Without the Razer Surround software, the Electra V2 analog will be used in stereo mode, which is normal for headsets with a single 3.5mm plug. Even in stereo mode, however, the Electra V2 sounds good and you will definitely have no problems enjoying your favorite games or movies while wearing it. The removable boom microphone does a decent job of picking up the user’s voice and will make communicating with your teammates easy. They will be able to understand you without picking up too much background noise. That being stated, I would not recommend the Razer Electra V2 analog microphone for something like podcasting or broadcasting but, for in-game chat, it’s great. Also of note is that the boom microphone is flexible so that you can align it where you want. Of course, the overall sound profile of the Razer Electra V2 is not quite as robust as more expensive headsets like the Razer Tiamat 7.1 or the ManO’War, but those are much more expensive behemoths that should not be directly compared to this $60 dollar audio slugger.

Controlling the Razer Electra V2 is fairly simple. The microphone just unplugs when needed and you’ll find a volume toggle as well as a mute slider on the back of the left ear cup. Speaking of ear cups, the ones on the Electra V2 are decent, although I did find that the sides of my head got sweaty after a short time and the top of my head got a bit sore after a couple hours. I would suggest if you have a bigger head, you check the Electra V2 out from a friend or at a retail store first.

Overall, the Razer Electra V2 analog is a really nice gaming headset for gamers not looking to spend an arm and a leg. Retailing for $59.99 at various online retailers as well as Razer’s own online store, the Electra V2 analog will fit your budget and provide you with good audio.

Star Conflict Unveils Journey Update

Tuesday, March 6th, 2018 — StarGem Inc. and Gaijin Entertainment today announced the release of the “Journey” update for the space action MMO Star Conflict. In a major redesign of the game’s progression system, players can now earn experience points and unlock new content by taking part in a story-driven campaign. The update offers beginners a gradual introduction to the game’s warring factions, different ship types, and incrementally increasing complex combat scenarios, while experienced pilots can head directly to more challenging adventures in outer space on new, powerful ships.

A journey that will take players hundreds of light years through the galaxy, begins at the United Mercenary Center, where the player joins a group of elite scouts searching for the missing fleet of the powerful, but enigmatic Ellydium Corporation. While looking for clues on what could have possibly caused an entire fleet of an interstellar conglomerate to vanish without a trace, the player gradually delves deeper into the unknown. Interacting with the different factions of the Star Conflict universe, the player fights increasingly stronger human and alien enemies and expands his or her fleet with new and more powerful ships. Hardened by countless of battles and supported by loyal allies, the player will then be able to unravel the mystery behind the disappearance of the Ellydium fleet and launch a mission to get it back.

Besides the new campaign mode, the “Journey” update adds new top-tier ships, such as the ‘Wolfhound’ fighter. Using the ‘Wounded Beast’ ability, the ship can significantly increase its combat power if the hull is critically damaged. The new command fighter ‘Granite’ is capable of protecting itself against both physical damage and hackers, as it can use its ‘Anti-Sabotage 2.1’ ability to prevent enemy hackers from taking over ship control.

Furthermore, two new space sectors can now be explored in the Star Conflict universe: ‘PB #42’ is located just above the surface of a planet, where high cliffs provide protection for support ships as fighters can use the cover to flank the enemy’s positions. ‘Excavation Site #6’ features a similar, but more barren environment. Here, the focus is on long-range engagements, but smaller vessels can still take advantage of the uneven surface.
