Fallout Shelter Quests Update and PC Launch Trailer

July 14, 2016 – Today Bethesda Softworks released Fallout Shelter Update 1.6, the biggest update yet for the smash hit mobile game by Bethesda Game Studios that has thrust more than 50 million players into the role of Overseer to build their own Vault, manage dwellers, and adventure through Fallout’s iconic wasteland. Update 1.6 introduces an exciting new Quest system with a new combat mechanic, as well as two new items for Overseers in a hurry: the Starter Pack allows players to jump-start a new Vault, and Nuka-Cola Quantum speeds up Dwellers returning from the Wasteland and certain Vault tasks.

In addition, Fallout Shelter launched today on PC, bringing the game to an all-new platform, and can be downloaded now, for free, via the Bethesda.net launcher.

QUESTS AND NEW COMBAT SYSTEM

Across more than 5 billion game sessions, Overseers have sent more than 715 million Dwellers into the Wasteland to explore, battle enemies, gather resources and items, and discover new recipes for crafting weapons and armor. In Update 1.6, players now have more substantive Quests to conquer and can take control of their Dwellers while they travel to abandoned buildings and decrepit Vaults, as well as locations familiar to Fallout 4 fans like the Red Rocket Fuel Stop and the Super Duper Mart. Players can assemble a group of Dwellers to take on challenges outside of the Vault, uncover legendary loot, and face off against new enemies like Radscorpions, Ghouls and powerful bosses.

While in the new Quests, Overseers can use the new combat system to gain control over Dwellers in a fight, allowing players to select opponents and direct attacks and even play a quick mini-game for a critical hit. Impatient Overseers who would like to instantly return Dwellers after a quest or complete Barbershop customizations or crafting, can now use a refreshing Nuka-Cola Quantum.

Update 1.6 can be downloaded by visiting the App Store or the Google Play store.

FALLOUT SHELTER LAUNCHES ON PC

Fallout Shelter also launched today for PC, bringing the action to larger screens and an even wider audience. The PC version of the game offers the full Fallout Shelter experience that fans have come to love on mobile, complete with all of the updates added over the last year – Pets, Crafting, Scrapping and Junk, additional rooms, Fallout 4 characters, and special Dweller customization options – as well as all of the new content in Update 1.6.

The game is now available for free, only via the Bethesda.net launcher. To download and install Fallout Shelter for PC, please download the Bethesda.net Launcher at the following link: http://download.cdp.bethesda.net/BethesdaNetLauncher_Setup.exe.

Event[0] to Release in September

PARIS – July 13, 2016IN SPACE, NO ONE CAN HEAR YOU TYPE… Event[0], the award-winning sci-fi narrative exploration game in which players must build a relationship with a lonely spaceship computer to get home, is coming to Windows PC and Mac this September via Steam and the Humble Store by Humble Bundle. A new teaser trailer for the game that poses the question, “What would you say to a computer if your life depended on it?” can be viewed at event0game.com.

The indie game first drew attention as a concept demo that won multiple indie gaming awards, including Innovation at BIG 2015 and Student Award winner at EIGD 2014. The first-person narrative exploration game transports players to the desolated spacecraft, Nautilus. As a player, your only companion is an insecure AI entity named Kaizen with whom you interact by typing messages on computer terminals throughout the ship. The game’s multi-layered story emerges organically as players communicate with Kaizen, freely explore 3D environments, gather information and solve hacking puzzles.

Set in a retrofuture inspired by 2001: A Space Odyssey, Solaris andBrave New World, Event[0] is a game about building a personal relationship with a machine using natural language. Kaizen can procedurally generate over two million lines of dialog and the AI entity has a strong personality influenced by human input. Players communicate by typing messages into a computer, and Kaizen responds. As in any relationship, there can be gratitude, disappointment or jealousy, and Kaizen reacts differently depending on its mood. By working through the fears and anxieties of your virtual companion you can ultimately find your way back to Earth—while unraveling the cryptic history of the ship and the 1980s society from which it emerged.

Event[0] began as a six-month student project before evolving into a full title under the auspices of Ocelot Society, which was founded by key members of the team. The game is backed by France’s CNC public arts organization and by the Indie Fund, a funding source for independent developers launched as an alternative to traditional publisher models.

Event[0] takes me back to the kind of magic I felt playing Zork as a kid,” said Ron Carmel, Co-Founder of Indie Fund and Co-Creator of World of Goo. “There are moments where I can suspend disbelief and feel like I’m actually having a conversation with an advanced AI, probing its inner workings with words.”

The game is created using Unity Engine 5 and utilizes physics-based rendering and advanced lighting techniques to create richly detailed environments inside and outside the ship (players can leave the ship for breathtakingly scary spacewalks). Eschewing a traditional game score, all sound, including incidental music, comes from items in the environment. The ship is essentially the AI computer’s body, and reacts to Kaizen’s mood by making different sounds—which can give the player valuable clues.

Event[0] is like our AI child: over the past two years it has grown from a vibrant but limited concept into a fully realized narrative exploration game,” said Léonard Carpentier, Co-founder and CEO of Ocelot Society. “Our team has created an evocative world for players to explore and Kaizen can’t wait to find new humans to become best friends with!”

More information on Event[0] will be released in the coming weeks if Kaizen can be convinced to cooperate.

MilitAnt Launch Trailer

July 12, 2016 – Created by Xibalba Studios for the PlayStation®4 and PC (Steam™), MilitAnt is a fast twitch side-scrolling blastacular action platformer that launched worldwide today on Steam. Its PlayStation®4 version hits the US today while the European invasion is set for July 14. The PlayStation®3 and PlayStation®Vita launches will be announced at a later date and will support Cross-Buy and Cross-Save with PS4.

“We are proud to launch MilitAnt on PS4 and PC. MilitAnt is the type of shooter armed with nostalgia and advancing difficulty. It should feel both familiar and completely exotic at the same time. Most importantly, MilitAnt brings the fun back into side-scrolling shooters, which has been sorely missed recently,” said Ricardo Villarreal, CEO, Xibalba Studios.

Spawned from an incubation program, MilitAnt has earned numerous awards, such as the “Best Shooter” award from the Intel Level Up Game Demo Contest. The game was also selected as a nominee for Game Connection America’s “Best Project” award. Xibalba won ESA’s (Entertainment Software Association) Professional Developer category at Video Juegos MX for MilitAnt.

In MilitAnt, you play as an Ant. Deep underground, the Ants guard Crystalite which is the most precious resource. It is the chief fuel behind most modern Insect technology, from day-to-day tools to advanced weaponry. Fair trade among the many kingdoms has brought about long years of peace and prosperity, but there grows tension over the resource with some factions wanting to control it. The more envious factions have been gaining influence. War looms on the horizon.

MilitAnt opens with a sudden invasion. Termites have overrun the Ants’ colony! All seems lost. And yet, one brave Ant warrior (you) rises to the challenge. From the familiar depths of the colony’s mines, you must venture into the strange world above. When not soaring through the sky or visiting the Beetles’ mysterious realm, you’ll find yourself escaping from the jungle or being stalked in a bleak wasteland: each stage of the journey is beautiful yet dangerous, exotic and unique. Massive bosses stand in your way, each with an amazing battle theme composed by award-winner Gerard K. Marino.

In MilitAnt, players can gather quite an arsenal, from flamethrowers and sentry guns to electric beam rifles and more! And as an Ant, the warrior can carry weapons in all four hands. Preparation is key: only by unlocking and equipping the best combinations in each situation can he win victory and save the colony.

Arma 3 Apex – Launch Trailer

July 11, 2016 – Celebrated with a launch trailer, Bohemia Interactive today released the much-anticipated Apex expansion for their tactical military shooter game, Arma 3. For the first time ever in the series, players are deployed to a South Pacific warzone, reinforced with new vehicles, weapons, and gear to overcome the challenges of a hostile foreign terrain.

As reflected by the expansion’s name, Arma 3 Apex represents the pinnacle of over 15 years of Arma development. It builds upon the series’ signature large-scale authentic combat gameplay, where movement, shooting, and teamwork truly matter – and introduces fresh opportunities for all types of combat operations.

The key features of the Arma 3 Apex expansion are:

  • New terrain
The 100 km2 South Pacific island archipelago Tanoa, with varied locations ranging from rainforest jungles, cities, shanty towns, a sugar cane factory, a mine, an industrial port, a volcano , and more.
  • New armed forces
A new faction of local Tanoan criminals and ex-paramilitaries called Syndikat, NATO & CSAT special forces, Pacific expeditionary units, and the Gendarmerie local law enforcement agency.
  • 13 new weapons
A mix of classic and modern firearms, thermal-masking uniforms and headgear, backpacks, NVGs, and a weapon optic.
  • 10 new vehicles
New vehicle classes: VTOL aircraft and Light Strike Vehicles – and more new vehicles such as the UCAV drones, RHIB, 4WD Offroad Car, Propeller Plane, and Water Scooter.
  • Co-op campaign
Take on the role of a NATO CTRG special operator in the 1-4 player “Apex Protocol” co-op campaign. Connected to the events in the original Arma 3 “The East Wind” campaign, the co-op campaign consists of 7 highly replayable missions, featuring a drop-in/drop-out multiplayer structure, and the difficulty scales up or down based on the number of players.
  • Additional Apex content
A selection of existing Arma 3 weapons and vehicles repainted in a South Pacific camo pattern, new character appearances: Tanoan and Chinese, new radio protocols: French, French-English, and Chinese, new environment assets and props for content creators, a Tanoa Zeus Game Master scenario, 3 new End Game scenarios, 13 new Steam Achievements, and the Arma 3 Apex official soundtrack.

On the road to Apex, Bohemia Interactive released several free platform updates for Arma 3. The highlights of these updates include a major audio-visual upgrade, a 3D scenario editor, a new server browser and enhanced mod handling in the Launcher, Quick Play, vehicle-in-vehicle transport, weapon switching, spectator mode, and many user experience enhancements, such as a new main menu, a new default control preset, and more.

Jay Crowe, Creative Director on Arma 3:
“With Arma 3 Apex, there’s never been a better time to get into the series. Built upon a diverse, open platform, the expansion offers up a multiplayer-focused set of content, complimented by some great new additions to our arsenal, all set in the truly splendid backdrop of Tanoa – a fresh experience of combat, and an exicting new sandbox for our dedicated community.”

Arma 3’s Project Lead, Petr Kolář:
“We’ve been focused on Arma 3 Apex for over two years, and it’s incredibly satisfying to finally see all of that hard work come together. Tanoa is without doubt one of the best terrains in the Arma series, providing an experience that we can only refer to as a “green hell”. Together with the new vehicles, weapons, uniforms, accessories, and of course the co-op campaign, we are certain this will keep players engaged in combat for a long time. I’m extremely proud of what the team has achieved. This really is the Apex in Arma 3’s development journey.”

Arma 3 Apex is now available for purchase on Steam and the Bohemia Store (29.99 EUR / 24.99 GBP / 34.99 USD). Those who are new to Arma 3, but want to enlist for the complete experience at the best price, can choose to pick up the Arma 3 Apex Edition on Steam or the Bohemia Store for 59.99 EUR / 44.99 GBP / 69.99 USD.
