First Star Citizen Module Launched

20130828164259

AUSTIN, Texas, August 30, 2013 — Chris Roberts and the development team at Cloud Imperium™ Games are rolling out the first playable area in their highly anticipated space sim, Star Citizen. The Hangar Module is an area of the game where current backers of the project can walk around and admire all the ships they’ve purchased for the game in a 3-D hangar created completely in-engine. The Hangar Module officially launched overnight for all backers of the crowd funded project. It’s all part of the modular development process Cloud Imperium is utilizing to provide backers of the crowd funded game a chance to experience the gaming world earlier than normal.

“In creating a project of this size and scope in a traditional sense, you wouldn’t get a chance to play the game until it reaches late alpha or beta stage,” said Cloud Imperium CEO Roberts. “By creating modules in this fashion, our backers get a chance to jump in and enjoy the world much earlier. Soon we’ll be adding a Dogfighting module, a Planetside module and more. Eventually we’ll weave them together to make the world that will be Star Citizen.”

The Hangar Module was previewed to members of the media last week at the Gamescom Trade Fair and Exhibit in Cologne, Germany. A special preview unveiling on Saturday night was wildly received by more than 1,200 Star Citizen fans.

“Our backers have invested a lot of their time and resources to Star Citizen,” said Roberts. “This will be their first chance to experience a portion of the game that ultimately will find its way into the final game. Some of the fans have purchased multiple ships and now they’ll be able to see most of them in their own hangars. The next step will be launching those ships and dogfighting. But for now they can customize their ships, walk around them, jump into the cockpit and even purchase a few surprise items to outfit their hangars. And all of it will take place in the game engine.”

Fans must back the project in order to experience the new Hangar Module. Information on becoming a Star Citizen backer can be found at http://www.RobertsSpaceIndustries.com.

Star Citizen is a crowd funded game that officially launched on October 10 of 2012. Since that time Roberts’ company has raised more than $16.7 million from backers all over the world making Star Citizen the top ranking crowd funded project ever.

“We are really excited to deliver such a unique title to gamers all around the world. We have been working very hard to make sure that stepping in the boots of an adventurer will be a fulfilling experience for every fan of the Lost World genre” comments Artur Falkowski, Game Producer at The Farm 51. “Deadfall Adventures is a game for shooters and puzzle-solvers. It’s not just another story to finish – it’s all about traveling the world, exploration and visiting places forgotten by time. Pyramids covered in sands, monumental temples carved into ice, and remote Mayan cities; all of this awaits you in Deadfall Adventures” Falkowski adds.

The game uses Unreal Engine 3 to produce one of the finest spectacles this generation has enjoyed, as players battle natural and not-so-natural enemies. Along the way, fiendish puzzles, deadly traps and stunning set pieces will make this one of the greatest adventures ever told – let alone played.

In the long-forgotten temple complex, the thrill of the chase awakens the true adventurer in Quatermain, as he and Agent Goodwin strive to be one step ahead of the Nazis and the Russians, one step closer to obtaining the Heart of Atlantis. Deep in the temples, where age-old guardians awake from their eternal slumber, Quatermain soon learns that his great-grandfather’s stories are not as crazy as he had always believed. For all things live forever, though at times they sleep and are forgotten.

Deadfall Adventures will be released on November 15th 2013 for Windows PC and the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft.

Resident Evil Maze Announced for Halloween Horror Nights 23 in Orlando

1238780_10151641863633233_1847793340_n

ORLANDO, Fla. (August 29, 2013) – This fall, Universal Orlando Resort will transform reality into a surreal fight for survival as the critically-acclaimed survival horror video game series Resident Evil becomes a haunted house at Halloween Horror Nights 23.

This completes this year’s lineup for Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights 23, which will feature some of the most outrageously terrifying, highly-recognizable names in entertainment and pop culture. In addition to Resident Evil, the event will also include haunted houses based on AMC’s “The Walking Dead,” Mexican urban legend La Llorona and critically acclaimed horror films “Evil Dead,” “An American Werewolf in London” and “The Cabin in the Woods.” Universal Orlando is also dedicating its entire Halloween Horror Nights street experience to “The Walking Dead” – making this the first time ever that all of the scare zones throughout the park will be themed after a hit television series.

For Resident Evil, Universal’s Entertainment team collaborated with the video game creators at Capcom to create a horrifyingly authentic haunted house based on some of the popular video games from the Resident Evil series. Guests will become desperate survivors inside the viral catastrophe, Raccoon City. As they journey through the city, they’ll encounter vicious characters from the games such as Lickers, bloodthirsty zombies, packs of Cerberuses and even Nemesis himself. Fans will be completely transported inside the video game realm – to the extent that one room in the haunted house will appear as if an action-packed fight scene is paused, as if the gamer has taken a quick break before returning to the horror of Raccoon City.

The Resident Evil franchise is now firmly established as a mainstay of contemporary culture with blockbuster live action movies, CG anime, manga, novels and numerous merchandising lines being produced alongside the videogame series. To date, the Resident Evil series of videogames has achieved global sales of more than 57 million units.

“It’s such a great delight to work with Universal on a haunted house based on the Resident Evil games,” said Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, Producer of Resident Evil 6. “The games have become synonymous with survival horror and we look forward to delivering a new way for consumers to experience the Resident Evil world we have created in the haunted house at Halloween Horror Nights.”

“Resident Evil is a perfect final addition to Halloween Horror Nights 23,” said Michael Aiello, Creative Director for Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights. “We were able to create incredibly elaborate sets that plant you right in the midst of Raccoon City’s apocalyptic nightmare, along with terrifying adversaries that will send them running.”

Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights 23 will take place select nights from Sept. 20 to Nov. 2. Tickets and vacation packages are on sale now and can be purchased at Halloweenhorrornights.com/orlando. For details on special offers, please see below. Due to the event’s popularity, tickets for weekend nights are expected to sell out and should be purchased well in advance.
