Respawn RSP-110 Reclining Gaming Chair Review

I have been living for years with degenerative disc disease which causes me much pain.  I have tried all kinds of comfort pads and desk chairs but none seem to give me the comfort I need to increase gaming time.  Enter: OFM Inc., who recently introduced their Respawn brand of gaming chairs. I recently got the chance to check out their RSP-110 model chair, a reclining model, and can’t believe what a difference it has made for me!

A few of the Respawn gaming chair models feature a mesh back designed for people who need high temperature control to the back area (sweaty gamer alert!), and they have others designed to wrap around and support the sides. However, a few like the RSP-110,  are designed to recline and take as much pressure off the spine as possible.  This model goes from 90 to 130 degrees and as it reclines the arms adjust down and back to keep providing elbow support.  One of the coolest and intriguing things that only the RSP-110 does is feature a leg recliner extension pad that is manually, separately adjusted. So, if I’m at my computer and I want to recline, I can! My head rests comfortably on the adjustable head pillow and my lower back lays on the adjustable lower back cushion. I feel like an angel baby wrapped in a cloud.

The chair feels and looks very well made, with the bars that slide out and hold the leg pad in place being stainless steel! Also, the padding and the covering on the chair is made of bonded leather and mesh.  Certain parts, like the handles to lower and recline, are made of plastic as are some other places to try to keep the weight down. Speaking of weight, the Respawn RSP-110 weighs around 50 pounds and comes un-assembled but assembly takes about 45 minutes. My wife, who put the Respawn RSP-110 together, said the instructions were clear and pieces were easily identified and put together smoothly. The collection of screws and washers even came with a section of spare parts, just in case! Thankfully, none were needed as everything fit as it should and the chair came together nicely without any cussing to be heard around my house during the assembly. There are a couple of cutouts near the neck which might be for airflow but more likely because it makes the chair look even more bad ass!

The Respawn RSP-110 gaming chair’s casters are stylish and solidly supportive with an open center meaning each caster only has two thin sections that touch the floor.  This makes it ideal to roll across any surface without continuous drag becoming an issue.  I guess if you had a shag carpet, you may want to get a mat for under the chair but pretty much any chair on the market would have a hard time with shag.  Another point of concern on chairs with reclining ability is how well the seat and back are connected – is it likely to break anytime soon leaving you a chair stuck in a 130 degree position?  This is actually an area where OFM takes particular care, if you look at the picture above it shows they have added a bolted reinforced section on the back of the Respawn RSP-110 gaming chair at their connecting point to make it so that it is strongest at the point where there is the greatest chance of breakage!

If there is anything I think they should add for the next generation of the Respawn gaming chair it would be to add on more extension in the extending leg support.  It would have to be small, basically the size of a foot rest but with taller folks like me my feet hang over the end quite a ways if I stretch them out straight.  I find that when I am using the leg rest I bend one leg in and rest my foot on it while the other stays straight when playing on consoles.  If  I stretch both legs out on the leg support it is still quite comfortable, just at first it feels like I might not support my legs but it does so fine.  Some people might want the option of a mesh back to help the chair breath better but personally I like the leather back and I know if during the summer if I decide I need more air circulation that I can always buy a metal mesh chair backing for really cheap at a discount or chain store.

The price point is certainly not an issue, OFM is trying to get their name out their about their line of chairs so at least at this point on the market most of their line of chairs are extremely affordable, in a lot of cases when it comes to gaming stuff you are paying for the name, in this case they aren’t that well known yet so you can get them for a steal.

Overall, I am ecstatic that OFM launched its line of Respawn gaming chairs and the Respawn RSP-110 is an excellent choice for those of you in need of a new gaming chair. The Respawn RSP-110 retails for $139 dollars and is available now at various online retailers.

Sound BlasterX H7 Tournament Edition Headset – A Review

It’s that time of the year again!  It’s the season of new gadgets, peripherals, and hardware that gamers would love to see as gifts.  Today, I am looking at one such beauty, the Sound Blaster X H7 Tournament Edition Headset.  With it’s sleek new design, new software to get the most sound out of your games, and can be connected up to multiple devices, the Sound Blaster X H7 Tournament Edition Headset may be my new favorite headset for pretty much everything.

Design

The Sound Blaster X H7 Tournament Edition Headset has the basic same design as the H7 edition does, but sports a lot more red trim.  The wiring, the inside of the ear cups, and the cable are all red, compared to the stark blackness of the H7.  The Sound Blaster X H7 Tournament Edition Headset also features a brushed metal look to the ear cups.  The Sound Blaster X H7 Tournament Edition Headset is made up of the same materials as the H7 and is incredibly comfortable to wear for extended periods of time.  The reinforced steel headband and aluminum architecture gives the Sound Blaster X H7 Tournament Edition Headset a very solid feel to it, while still maintaining a light weight that does not wear you down.

The Sound Blaster X H7 Tournament Edition Headset is also designed with a tilt driver, which creates a mini acoustic chamber within the ear cup.  This really allows the Sound Blaster X H7 Tournament Edition Headset to separate sounds in game, to give you a much clearer and crisper sound experience overall.  But what really separates the Sound Blaster X H7 Tournament Edition Headset from the original H7 is what’s inside.

Audio Performance

The Sound Blaster X H7 Tournament Edition Headset has been completely redesigned to give you a much better audio experience then the H7.  Specifically, the new 50mm FullSpectrum drivers, deliver incredible sound.  Rated at 118dB/mW, the drivers delivers clearer, louder, and more accurate sound production than any other headset that I have used before.

The Sound Blaster X H7 Tournament Edition Headset comes with two ways to connect the headset to a device; USB or analog.  In USB mode, the Sound Blaster X H7 Tournament Edition Headset uses the X-Plus Sound Signature, which allows you to customize your profile to match the game you are playing, such as Overwatch, DOTA 2, or Call of Duty.  USB mode also allows you to customize your experience by using the BlasterX Acoustic Engine Pro software.  This software allows you to customize your profiles, provides an equalizer, and even has a voice modulator.  Analog mode is designed to be used with your music devices, such as your phone or Ipod.  The analog setup provides a solid, default profile that works great with music.  You are also able to connect your Sound Blaster X H7 Tournament Edition Headset to your Playstation 4 or Xbox One, making this really the only headset you need.

The detachable microphone has also been redesigned.  The microphone picks up your voice and cancels out surrounding noise, so that you can be clearly heard by everyone on the opposite end.  I used the Sound Blaster X H7 Tournament Edition Headset for our monthly Dungeons and Dragons game online, and was pleased just how well the microphone worked.

Final Thoughts

The Sound Blaster X H7 Tournament Edition Headset is an all-in-one headset that delivers a clear, clean, and crisp auditory experience no matter what you are doing.  With seamless connection between your gaming consoles, audio players, and PC, the Sound Blaster X H7 Tournament Edition Headset can be used for everything.  The newly designed aesthetic gives the Sound Blaster X H7 Tournament Edition Headset a cleaner look than the previous H7 Headset, and the updated and improved drivers and microphone gives the Sound Blaster X H7 Tournament Edition Headset the edge in performance as well.  My only knock on the Sound Blaster X H7 Tournament Edition Headset has nothing to do with the headset itself, but more of the way the Xbox One controller was designed.  Unless you have the Elite controller, you will need to buy the Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter to be able to use the Sound Blaster X H7 Tournament Edition Headset on the Xbox One.  Other than that, the Sound Blaster X H7 Tournament Edition Headset is an excellent choice for an all-around headset.  The Sound Blaster X H7 Tournament Edition Headset is available now for $99.

KWA Ronin 10 Inch SBR Airsoft Gun Review

Some weeks ago, KWA unveiled a new line of airsoft guns called the Ronin series. This series is made up of both their generation 2.5 and generation 3 AEGs, albeit with a cool-looking M-LOK rail system and some updated features. I picked up the Ronin 10 inch SBR from Evike for $339 so that I could take a closer look at it and see how it stacks up compared to the rest of the KWA family as well as some of the newer AEGs on the market.

KWA’s generation 2.5 airsoft guns feature a rotary hop up which won’t lose its adjustment easily during heated gameplay, a radiused and reinforced gearbox for stability and strength, variable performance system, magazine cut-off system, and a switch life extender unit that prevents trigger contact burnout. The additions to the Ronin line up when compared to KWA’s basic gen 2.5 rifle, the VM4A1, are cosmetic: You’ll find a solid M-LOK rail system, PTS grip, PTS flip up sights, and a PTS Enhanced Polymer Stock. Additionally, this rifle came with one of the new K120c 30/120 magazines equipped with the special follower that interacts with the rifles’s cut-off system. Additionally, the Ronin 10 features an ambidextrous fire select lever for you left-handed shooters out there.

If you have yet to see KWA’s variable performance system in action, it is pretty intriguing. Basically, the airsoft rifle was engineered with a way to mechanically adjust the pressure on the spring. This is accomplished via a screw where the buffer tube attaches to the receiver. KWA is smart and include the long hex driver to accomplish these adjustments right in the box. Each twist of the screw adjusts your velocity by +/- 2.5 FPS. The Ronin 10 is rated at adjustments from 380 all the way to 430 FPS, so it is very flexible if you need to go from, say, many local fields’ rule of a 400 FPS limit to various milsim events’ 450 FPS limit. Sure, you can’t get to the 450 limit, but 430 is a whole lot better than 400, allowing you to shoot heavier BBs and increasing your joule rating. What I like best about the variable performance system is that it is mechanically-driven. It doesn’t need a computer chip to calculate velocity and draw that much more power from your battery.

Speaking of batteries, you can easily run a decent-sized 11.1v LiPo battery in the Ronin 10 thanks to its PTS stock with crazy amounts of storage space and the rifle’s switch life extender feature. Putting that extra voltage through the rifle will not burnout your trigger contacts like it can do on airsoft rifles without electronic switches or MOSFET units.

KWA Ronin 10 with Lucid Optics Scope and PTS Foregrip

In play, the KWA Ronin 10 SBR handles beautifully thanks to its shorter length and lighter weight. The outer barrel flash hider sticks out of the 10 inch rail system a tiny bit, making the gun easy to maneuver around corners. It should be noted that if you need a Ronin specifically-built for CQB or indoor purposes, KWA has you covered. You can always pick up the Ronin 6 PDW airsoft gun, or, simply swap out the upper receiver and barrel from your Ronin 10 with the shorter length one! This modularity is one of the hallmarks of the Ronin line, and I can’t wait to pick up extra upper receivers of various lengths whenever they end up selling them. KWA’s tried and true rotary hop up is very accurate and the sheer amount of performance one gets right out of the box with this AEG is remarkable.

If instead of use in CQB games, you would like to have a DMR platform, KWA is releasing a Ronin 3 RECON RM4 airsoft rifle a bit later this year. That rifle will feature a longer handguard and barrel assembly while also featuring KWA’s generation 3 ERG (Electric Recoil Gun) system. Additionally, the new Ronin rifles of the generation 3 variety will ALSO feature the variable performance system.

Overall, the KWA Ronin 10 inch SBR airsoft gun is an excellent airsoft purchase for field play. With its variable performance system, you can adjust it from local field limits to milsim limits with ease and its excellent build quality coupled with light weight make it a breeze to carry around and operate. The KWA Ronin series is available now for $339 dollars from most airsoft retailers!

Destiny 2 Teams with Amazon for Alexa-Powered Ghost

SANTA MONICA, Calif. – November 30, 2017 – Bungie and Activision Publishing, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Activision Blizzard, Inc. (NASDAQ: ATVI), announced the introduction of the Destiny 2 Ghost Skill for Alexa, giving players of one of the best-selling video games of 2017 to date* the first-ever Alexa voice integration in a live game experience**. Revealed on stage by Tom Taylor, senior vice president, Amazon Alexa and Byron Beede, Activision’s senior vice president of Product Management for Destiny at the AWS re:Invent 2017 conference in Las Vegas, Nevada, the Destiny 2 Ghost Skill, voiced by the in-game Ghost’s voice actor Nolan North, is available now for Alexa customers to enable, free of charge, through the Alexa app.

The Destiny 2 Ghost Skill serves as a premier companion for Destiny 2 players, creating brand-new ways to interact with the game, players can say, “Alexa, ask Ghost to…” with a variety of utterances — from “…tell me which friends are online,” to asking “…what should I do next?” giving recommendations for what to play next based on players’ real-time current progress, to “…call for back up,” which offers an easy way to interact with friends in their clan to enhance the social experience of Destiny 2, to “… equip my Raid loadout,” equipping players’ favorite weapons and armor for a number of different gameplay activities, to learning more about the world and characters of Destiny 2 with a request like, “…tell me who are the Red Legion?”

”The Ghost serves as your guide and companion in Destiny 2 the game, and now players will be able to bring that experience into the real world with them through Alexa,” said Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision. “The Destiny 2 Ghost skill is the first of its kind and the most innovative and immersive gaming experience to date on Alexa. We’re excited to give our community of players, who are among the most-dedicated fans in the world, new ways to play Destiny 2 with the Ghost skill and Limited-Edition Destiny 2 Ghost. The lines between in-game and out-of-game have been blurred in an incredible new way.”

“Alexa is now part of the Destiny 2 experience, and we’re excited for what that means for Destiny 2 players and the future of games and voice technology,” said Steve Rabuchin, Vice President, Amazon Alexa. “Gaming is an example of where voice can create a more engaging experience in a natural and delightful way for customers. Rather than interrupting gameplay to navigate menus, players can just ask Ghost through Alexa to help with certain tasks. Players love the Destiny 2 experience, and now Alexa can make it even more immersive and fun.”

“Destiny 2 players being able to interact with a physical Ghost paired with an Amazon Alexa is just a really fun and unique idea,” said Pete Parsons, CEO of Bungie. He added, “With our partners at Activision, it’s been exciting to develop this project into a rich, useful skill worthy of Amazon’s Alexa.”

Also announced is the Limited-Edition Destiny 2 Ghost, a WiFi enabled Ghost speaker which is compatible with Alexa devices to bring the look and sound of the Ghost from inside the game into the real world. The Limited-Edition Destiny 2 Ghost is available for pre-order now at an SRP of $89.99, and can be purchased separately as a companion to Alexa devices. The physical Ghost is not needed to use the free Destiny 2 Ghost skill, but the game and an Alexa device are required. The Limited-Edition Destiny 2 Ghost will be available on December 19, 2017.

Destiny 2 is rated T for Teen by the ESRB and is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC at a suggested retail price of $59.99.
