Arma 3 Apex: Old Man Launch Trailer

PRAGUE, Czech Republic – April 14, 2020 – Bohemia Interactive today released the Arma 3 Apex: Old Man open-world single-player scenario for their popular military simulation sandbox game, Arma 3. This bonus scenario is free for everyone who owns the Arma 3 Apex expansion. A newly deployed trailer provides a brief impression of Old Man’s plot and setting.

In support of this release, the Arma 3 base game and all Arma 3 downloadable content packs (DLC) are on sale from today until April 21 (10:00 PST/18:00 CEST) on both Steam and the Bohemia Store, with discounts of up to 70%. The Arma 3 Apex Edition, which includes the Arma 3, Arma 3 Apex, and three extra DLC packs, provides an additional 15% bundle discount.

In Arma 3 Apex: Old Man, the player assumes the role of a retired Legionnaire living on the South Pacific island of Tanoa. When a new strain of malaria causes yet another humanitarian crisis, and local authorities fail to distribute an effective vaccine to the civilian population, “Old Man” is tipped off about a possible plot. Together with a former military contact, he attempts to avert a catastrophic power play in the region.

The new scenario drops the player into Tanoa’s 100 square kilometers tropical terrain with just a few instructions. It’s up to the player to find their way around, gather intel, obtain weapons and equipment, and decide on the best tactics to accomplish objectives. While the scenario aims to offer an authentic experience, the player does have access to a few convenience features, such as the option to wait and skip time, and the ability to fast travel between known safe houses.

Arma 3 Apex: Old Man provides more than 10 hours of playtime. It is released together with a free platform update for all Arma 3 users. This update adds new static machine gun variants and several other assets to the game and implements various fixes and improvements. The full change-log for update 1.98 can be found on the Arma 3 website.

Key features of Arma 3 Apex: Old Man

Shared Armaverse

  • After the events of the Arma 3 “The East Wind” and “Apex Protocol” campaigns, the South Pacific island nation of Tanoa is hit by yet another humanitarian crisis; a malaria outbreak. When authorities fail to distribute an effective vaccine, a local veteran is tipped off about a possible plot and sets out to uncover the truth.

Open World

  • Return to the jewel of the Horizon Islands and discover her many hidden secrets. Travel by land, sea, or even air – and stay in one of the many shelters to save your progress. Populated by CSAT soldiers, Gendarmerie officers, local insurgents, civilians, and aid workers, Tanoa draws you right into her long history of conflict and turmoil.

Sandbox Gameplay

  • “Old Man” presents you with a varied set of objectives, but how you accomplish these is completely up to you. Get creative and make good use of Arma 3’s diverse selection of weapons and explosives. Just remember; all missions are a matter of life and death – so consider your tactics, prepare your load-out, and always have an exit strategy ready.

Additional Content

  • The Old Man scenario comes with new static M2 .50 caliber machine gun variants, and adds new assets for community content creators to use, such as a Tanoa CSAT reskin of the Zamak truck, a red beret, malaria-infected civilian characters, and various decals and inventory items.

The beta version of the Arma 3 Apex: Old Man scenario was originally released in December last year via the Arma 3 Steam Workshop. Those who helped play-test the beta version are recommended to unsubscribe from the Steam Workshop item and restart the scenario to avoid compatibility issues.

World of Warships: Legends Gets Russian Destroyers and Battleships

AUSTIN, TX (April 9, 2020) – A new update for World of Warships: Legends brings the release of Russian Destroyers and appearance of Russian Battleships in early access and more on April 13. After a few weeks of duck-infused hilarity, World of Warships: Legends is back to more serious waters, introducing two new Campaigns, two new seasons of Ranked Battles, and a host of new features. This update is filled to the brim, let’s check it out.

The Russian Destroyers are now fully released, meaning players can research their way through them to the Tier VII Tashkent. These ships are quite interesting, unlike most destroyers, they focus their abilities as a gunboat rather than stealth and torpedo armament. Like the Russian Cruisers, they have flat-shooting guns designed to work best at their maximum range. Staying at this range works well for the destroyers, giving them time to dodge incoming fire with their tremendous speed. After adding in some short-ranged torpedoes, the Russian gunboats are perfect for high-risk, high-reward gameplay.

Speaking of high-risk, high-reward, the Russian Battleships are here in early access, due to be fully released with next update. They bring heavy red artillery to the sea, and will contest the German battleships for the spot of best brawler. The guns on these brawlers are only accurate at close range and they are heavily armored, making them great at pushing the enemy. However, they will take massive damage if caught broadside, so careful positioning is required! Players will be able to sail these behemoths by opening Soviet crates, which can be earned in the campaigns.

There are two new campaigns coming with this update: “To Tame A Dreadnought” and “The Heroic Oleg.” The first campaign will run until May 4 and features the Russian commander Mikhail Kedrov as the final reward. Kedrov was historically the captain of the battleship Gangut during World War One and now brings his experience to help players tame the Russian Battleships in World of Warships: Legends. “The Heroic Oleg” campaign starts just after “To Tame A Dreadnought” and has the cruiser Oleg as the crown jewel. The Oleg is a handsome old-fashioned protected cruiser that was one of the few Russian survivors of the Battle of Tsushima. Both campaigns are packed with rewards, including Soviet crates that give players a shot at getting one of the new battleships.

Ranked battles reappear for two more sprints, returning to the shorter seasons based on player feedback. Players will be able to battle through for extra rewards, season exclusive patches and some Soviet crates. Plus, there are a couple new features coming to the game! First, there is now a Photo mode in the port for players to take beauty shots of their favorite ships. There is also an option to have the commanders speak in their mother-tongues now, and a bigger scale HUD option for smaller screens.

There’s a ton coming to World of Warships: Legends, and more is on the way!

GoPro Unveils Live Streaming Tips and Tutorial

One of the fun and very useful options of GoPro‘s HERO 8 Black, MAX, and HERO 7 Black cameras is their ability to live stream via the GoPro smartphone app. Currently, the GoPro app can stream to Facebook, Youtube, Twitch, Vimeo, and several other video services. They can even give you reaction and engagement info while you’re streaming. You can checkout their full rundown of how to do it at their official blog as well as the video below.

Best of all about this announcement is that the GoPro app can be updated as needed to add new functionality down the road. You’re not locked into just one featureset – also, they can roll out app updates right through the respective phone’s app store.

The big wish I would have in this application of the camera would be to have the ability to stream to Instagram. GoPro seems interested as well, as the blog explains that it will be compatible once Instagram allows it (although there is no date or estimated time for this mentioned).

Beholder 2 Official Launch Trailer

April 9, 2020 – E-Home Entertainment and Warm Lamp Games bring you Beholder 2 on Xbox One today for $14.99. Playing as Evan Redgrave, a low-level Ministry worker, you are on a mission to unravel the circumstances surrounding your father’s mysterious suicide by rising through the ranks of the totalitarian government. Whether you choose to help your colleagues in covert missions to bring down the totalitarian state or ruthlessly destroy everyone in your path in order to climb the Ministry ladder, your decisions will have consequences that change the end of Evan Redgrave’s story.

“Beholder has been an important series to us, as it examines the relationship between government structures and individual freedom,” said Yiying Xu, Marketing Manager for E-Home Entertainment. “These themes are timeless and universal, but seem especially topical right now. We want people to think about how government regulations influence individual behavior, and the feedback loop that emanates from this. We think Beholder 2 explores these issues in a nuanced way, and look forward to Xbox players getting to try it for themselves.”

To commemorate this launch, E-Home Entertainment has released a brand new trailer showcasing Beholder 2’s oppressive atmosphere. Get a glimpse at the Ministry’s machinations, as Evan navigates this labyrinthine bureaucratic stronghold where he’s always in danger of running afoul of his despotic government overlords. And it goes without saying that tyrants don’t take kindly to insurgents.

Following in the footsteps of the critically acclaimed Beholder, the sequel follows a different story from that of Carl the Landlord, placing you in the shoes of new protagonist Evan Redgrave, a Ministry intern whose father – the former head of Department 6, committed suicide under mysterious circumstances while working at the Ministry. In order to get to the bottom of how and why he died, you’ll have to do whatever it takes to ascend the ranks of the Ministry to secure strict security clearance and gain access to the totalitarian leaders. How you eliminate your competitors is up to you. Do you help your colleagues to overthrow the totalitarian state ensuring they give up their current positions on good terms? Or would you prefer to ruthlessly tear down everyone in your path by framing and manipulating people into an early “retirement”? Once you reach the top you will learn about your father’s death as well as other sinister and shocking government secrets.

In addition to your career goals, you must complete various side tasks that will emerge based on your choices. Help your coworkers on their quests, humiliate others upon request, or find victims suitable for the baleful needs of those in charge. By completing these side missions you can earn money and reputation, both of which you’ll need on your path to promotion. The fate of the country and of Evan Redgrave are now in your hands.
