GTFO Gets Surprise Update

Swedish game developer 10 Chambers Collective – formed in 2015 by nine industry veterans known for PAYDAY: The Heist and PAYDAY 2 – continues to regularly update their first game, GTFO, a 4-player co-op action/horror FPS. It has been described as “Left 4 Dead” meets “Aliens”, and uses a Rundown concept, where the game is regularly updated with new expeditions (i.e., maps, scenarios, enemies, etc.) that replace the previous ones. Today, they’re launching a surprise update where the current Rundown is extended with four new expeditions. They’re also revealing how many survived the hardcore game (hint: not many) and their secret behind GTFO’s 96% positive Steam score.

GTFO takes place in a terrifying underground facility called “The Complex,” where your team’s survival relies on your ability to communicate, coordinate – and count your bullets. The game recently reached one year in Early Access. To celebrate, 10 Chambers is now surprise-releasing four new expeditions to the current Rundown 004 / Contact. If you’re interested in seeing how two of the new expeditions look, the developers uploaded a total of 100 minutes of uncut gameplay from the latest update – here and here.

“Looking at the statistics of death rates for the last Rundown, Contact, we decided our community of Prisoners need to be tested more before they’re ready for the next Rundown chapter of GTFO,” says Simon Viklund, Narrative Director & Composer. “We’re adding four new expeditions on top of the eight that are already in the Rundown. Let’s see if the survival rate increases.”

On the day of GTFO’s one year anniversary, 10 Chambers released a short cryptic video that showcased some raw numbers from the game’s first year: Horrifying data such as the toughest expedition (R2E1, the last expedition of Rundown 002, with only 1.4% success rate) and the most deadly expedition (R1A1, the first level of the very first Rundown, that has killed almost 2 million prisoners). So far, as few as 1.85% of the players have completed the two last expeditions of Rundown 004 / Contact.

Since the last Rundown, which was released in October and introduced matchmaking in Alpha state, Steam review scores for GTFO have soared. The co-op FPS now sits at a recent review score of 96% positive.

“I think the secret behind our high positive Steam rating is our transparency. We’re very open with what kind of game GTFO is: Very challenging, not for the faint of heart, but also very rewarding when you succeed. We even have a warning text on the product page – encouraging people to research before buying,” says Ulf Andersson, Creative Director & CEO. “The exceptionally high positive reviews recently – 96% – should have to do with adding matchmaking in the latest big update. We will keep updating this feature, and maybe we’ll reach even higher.”

The developer team will now take a short break to enjoy the holidays – at a safe distance – with their families and loved ones. When they’re back, they’ll continue developing the next Rundown, number five, which is already in the planning phase according to GTFO’s public roadmap.

GTFO Early Access is available on Steam for $34,99, but to celebrate the update, it’s right now 20% off!

MicroProse Announces Carrier Command 2

Today we are welcoming you on the bridge of a futuristic carrier. You are in command and the mission is simple: conquer the isles of the Archipelago making the most of the combined arms army that you have on board.

This is what Carrier Command players from the ’80s were experiencing and this is what MicroProse is bringing back in this modern and ambitious remake.

What will be the Carrier Command 2 experience?
Carrier Command 2 is Strategy, Planning and Teamwork on a scale that is both engaging and manageable. True to MicroProse’s heritage, Carrier Command 2 is all about meaningful decisions.

Strategize: Gather intel from your vehicles’ radars, pick your tools of the trade, and launch your attacks where the enemy is weaker. The approach you take to a situation will play a big part in the outcome.

Plan: Once you have taken an island you will need to exploit and defend the resources it provides. Ensuring these supply lines remain open will be key to your survival. Think ahead.

Teamwork: Make the most of different unit synergies and create combined arms assaults to efficiently win battles. On top of that, get into each and every vehicle and take part in the action. Lead from the front!

A Strategic Challenge
In the near future humanity’s hunger for mineral resources and fossil fuel has only increased, and a newly discovered chain of islands offers an abundance of both…to whoever can take control of them first.

Your mission: Command a mighty carrier ship, multi-role aircraft, amphibious tanks, drones and more as you attempt to establish a secure network of bases within the archipelago.

Unfortunately, you are not alone.

Every step of the way, you will be competing against rival AI or human carrier commanders whose technical capabilities are a match for your own, are every bit as determined to succeed, and have no qualms about blowing you out of the water!

Success or failure will come down to not just superior overall strategy but also the chance to turn the tide of the battle by assuming direct control of individual vehicles to defend your bases or stage a direct attack on your enemy!

Winning combination
Carrier Command 2 combines a sophisticated real-time strategy with detailed vehicle simulation, allowing the player to choose exactly how and where they focus their attention. This unique blend of gameplay also makes for a huge amount of replayability.

Features List

  • Flexible strategy + simulation gameplay
  • Competitive or co-operative multiplayer options
  • Multiple paths to victory
  • Land, sea and air combat
  • Build networks and manage resources
  • Highly detailed vehicles and other equipment
  • Many varied islands to explore
  • Dazzling visual effects
  • Mood-setting music and sound effects
  • Near-future sci-fi storyline
  • Oodles of replayability!

Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood Gameplay Trailer

With Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood releasing on February 4, 2021, NACON and Cyanide are pleased to unveil a 6-minute gameplay video featuring the game’s exploration, stealth and brutal action. For the release of this video, Julien “Patch” Desourteaux, Game Director at Cyanide, provides insight into the game’s development, and its roots in the World of Darkness – a shared story universe where supernatural beings roam hidden from human’s sight.

The biggest challenge for Cyanide was implementing all the mechanics for an action RPG: designing the combat systems, balancing the effects, working on different types of animations, and more… When the main character, Cahal, shifts to his Crinos form, players must feel like a bestial predator. Thus, a “stance” system was implemented so players can switch between agility and ferocity according to the situation.

The team went to considerable effort to create a visceral beat’em up game while staying faithful to the original tabletop roleplaying game. In Werewolf: The Apocalypse, the Garou are warriors of Gaia, the Mother Earth, and are fighting to save the planet from the Wyrm’s corruption. This aspect of the game is visible when the players explore environments like an overexploited forest, an arid desert or an offshore oil rig.

Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood is the first action-RPG game adapted from the eponymous horror franchise. Mature, brutal, and complex, it invites the player to embody Cahal throughout his quest of bloody redemption. He’ll play an essential role in the great war led by the Garou against Endron, a global corporation whose activities are devastating the natural world.

Werewolf : The Apocalypse – Earthblood will be available February 4, 2021 on PlayStation®4, PlayStation®5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC (Epic Game Store).

In Solasta, light is a tool to explore the depths and hallows of dungeons or can be used as a weapon against the creatures of the dark, but if players aren’t careful, it will give away the party’s position to nasty creatures bent on their demise.
