6th March, 2013 – Wargaming, the leading free-to-play developer and publisher, today announced global release dates for Update 8.4 for their award-winning free-to-play MMO World of Tanks. Bringing in ten new hard-hitting tank destroyers from Great Britain, Update 8.4 will be available for all game clusters across the globe: Europe (March 6), North America and Southeast Asia (March 7), and Korea (March 20).

Thick armor, high durability and tremendous alpha strike capability makes the new British TD forces to be reckoned with. The line is headed by the intimidating FV215b (183) prototype, packed with a lethal 183mm high-damage gun.

Along with the newly introduced British tank destroyers, Update 8.4 adds three light German tanks: Pz.I, Pz.I Ausf.Ñ, and Pz.II Ausf.G. The game also introduces a newly revamped combat tutorial mode for rookie tankmen, where they can learn everything they need to know to be successful in the game, from movement, combat, crews skills and more.

Update 8.4 also sees four battle arenas being overhauled with new visuals, including Ensk, Live Oaks, Steppes and Fisherman’s Bay.

inXile Launches Torment Kickstarter

torment-fb

(NEWPORT BEACH, CA) March 6, 2013 – inXile entertainment announced today that it has kicked off its Kickstarter campaign (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/inxile/torment-tides-of-numenera) for Torment: Tides of Numenera™ (Torment), which continues the thematic legacy of Planescape: Torment.  After the successful funding of Wasteland 2 in April 2012, inXile entertainment has chosen to abandon the traditional publisher-developer business model and focus on crowdsourcing for upcoming projects, beginning with Torment.

inXile entertainment’s second Kickstarter marks a historical first with Kickstarter as they try to become the first video game company to attempt to successfully fund a second major project concurrently, thereby proving that crowdsourcing is a viable business model. inXile entertainment’s first Kickstarter project, Wasteland 2, recently released a first look gameplay video to the game’s backers in February to an overwhelmingly positive response.

“As we continue our progression toward launch of Wasteland 2, it is important to secure funding now in order to cover the costs of preproduction and to properly scope Torment: Tides of Numenera.  This method of development helps to both create a better a RPG game and to keep the winning team together from project to project. The crowd has become our financing partner and we embrace the stronger bond that it creates between us” said Brian Fargo, CEO of inXile Entertainment.

“As with Wasteland 2, 100% of the crowdfunding will be invested into creating Torment. Our biggest goal is to create a game people actually want to play rather than force a game onto people, which is what can happen with the current publisher model. We are designing Torment: Tides of Numenera to appeal to the RPG connoisseurs, focusing on the deeply personal and philosophical themes and the meaningful choices and consequences that madePlanescape: Torment great. With support and feedback from the community, we believe Torment will return to the RPG genre a more cerebral experience that we’ve been hoping to revisit for over a decade,” said Kevin Saunders, product director for Torment: Tides of Numenera.

ABOUT THE GAME

Torment: Tides of Numenera will be a single-player role-playing game, distributed DRM-free for Windows (PC), Mac, and Linux. It will be available in English, French, German, Italian, Polish, Russian, and Spanish. Torment will continue the thematic legacy of the critically acclaimed Planescape: Torment™ by having to face complex and nuanced morality decisions, carefully contemplating deep and reactive choices with consequences that echo throughout the game all the while immersed into a new and strange vision taken from by renowned designer and writer Monte Cook’s new tabletop role-playing game, Numenera™.

In Torment: Tides of Numenera, players will have to decide for themselves the answer to the eternal question, what does one life matter? Numenera’s Ninth World is a fantastic vision of a world in which massive civilizations continue to rise and fall with only cities, monuments, and artifacts left behind to serve as reminders of their past existence. These reminders have become part of the accumulated detritus of eons and now this assortment of ancient power, called the numenera, is there for the taking. One of these humans has discovered a way to harness the numenera to grow strong, to cheat death, to skip across the face of centuries in a succession of bodies. But he discovers an unexpected side effect: You.

THIEF Reboot Announced

Montréal (March 5, 2013) – Square Enix® and Eidos Montréal®, the award winning studio behind the critically acclaimed Deus Ex: Human Revolution®, today unveiled THIEF™ for high-end PC’s and next generation consoles. THIEF is the reinvention of a franchise that helped define an entire genre of games.

Time has moved on. Power has shifted. New greed replaces the old. But to remain free in the city of chains – that is still the greatest prize. First I stole to survive… then I survived to steal. I am one man; I hear your secrets, see your hidden truths. I am the shadows, the dark and deadly, the velvet night. You will not see me coming. I am Garrett….What’s yours is mine.

There is a rising tide of fear in The City. Hatred saturates every stone and whilst the rich prosper, the less fortunate face misery and repression. Ravaged with sickness and famine, they wait for something to change.

Into this shadowy world steps Garrett, THE master thief in a first-person adventure featuring intelligent design that allows players to take full control, with freedom to choose their path through the game’s levels and how they approach and overcome each challenge.

“We’re handling a precious gemstone with THIEF. Fans remember the original games very fondly and we want to preserve that essence which we have excellent experience of doing at Eidos Montréal, whilst also introducing THIEF to a brand new, next-generation, audience,” said Stephane D’Astous, General Manager, Eidos Montréal. “Our goal is to deliver the fantasy of being Garrett, the master thief, and we’re building this game around that core experience.”
