Dual Universe Public Roadmap Announced

PARIS, FRANCE – August 8, 2018  Today, Novaquark is excited to blow the lid off a detailed roadmap, charting the development of civilization building MMO, Dual Universe, through launch. Beginning with its first Alpha test in November 2018, Novaquark plans to continue expanding its sci-fi universe until it hits Beta in the first half of 2020 and officially launches in the latter half of 2020. This roadmap arrives alongside the announcement that all Kickstarter backers will be granted access to the in-development Alpha by the end of 2018, as originally announced during its crowdfunding campaign.

Every step of the way, the team at Novaquark intends to engage their dedicated community as they introduce new gameplay systems and work towards establishing a true gaming Metaverse. Take a look below to get an idea of some of the key features that will be added as part of each subsequent milestone:

Click to make big…

If keeping up with this roadmap sounds like a daunting task, you’re absolutely right. Building an entire living, breathing universe isn’t exactly an easy task, but it’s a dream that the team has shared for decades now. Maintaining momentum towards Alpha, though, the team has raised an additional 3.5 million dollars, bringing the total funding of the project, including backer support, to over 11 million dollars, which will be used to hire new, passionate staff, accelerate development and keep everything moving to the roadmap’s timeline.

Hear what Novaquark CEO, Jean-Christophe Baillie, has to say about the company’s exciting new developments and continued growth in this short video:

This is only a taste of what players can expect from Novaquark in the coming months and years, though. Game development is constantly filled with surprises, so while there will undoubtedly be obstacles for the team to surmount, they also have their share of surprises to share with the community. Whether it’s the pre-Alpha supporters who have already begun shaping the universe of Dual Universe in their own image, the players who will join the journey along the way, or interested sci-fi fans on the fringes, Novaquark intends to maintain transparency through launch and offer ample opportunities for the community to directly impact the development of this ambitious project.

Dual Universe is available now in Pre-Alpha, with an alpha launch slated for November 2018. In addition to being the 3rd biggest worldwide video game Kickstarter of 2016, it earned over one million dollars in funding on both Kickstarter and its official website, and boasts a vibrant community of over 10,000 backers and almost 2,000 in-game organization communities. For the latest updates visit the official website, and you can also follow the game on Twitter, Facebook, Community Discord, Reddit, and YouTube.

The Bard’s Tale Trilogy Launch Trailer

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. – Aug. 6, 2018 – inXile Entertainment, the studio led by Interplay founder and industry icon Brian Fargo, is proud to announce The Bard’s Tale Trilogy, a complete remaster of the legendary series that helped define the RPG genre. Featuring updated graphics and optional quality-of-life gameplay features, The Bard’s Tale Trilogy is the ideal way to experience the dungeon crawling challenge that made the original games beloved classics. The title will release on Aug. 14, 2018, for PC on both Steam and GOG.com with a retail price of $14.99.

Features of The Bard’s Tale Trilogy include:

  • Remasters of all three original The Bard’s Tale games. The first volume, Tales of the Unknown, is available at launch, with The Destiny Knight (fall 2018) and Thief of Fate (winter 2018) arriving later in the year.
  • A uniform playing experience across all three titles without the need for emulation or compatibility concerns.
  • Create a party in the first volume and play it across all three volumes to create a heroic narrative all your own.
  • For the first time, play as male or female across all three games. Also includes other quality-of-life changes such as automapping for all three games, spell access, and updated equipment/inventory management.
  • Updated art that holds true to the spirit of the originals, featuring never-before-used character art by series creator Michael Cranford!
  • An opportunity for new players to experience the events that led to The Bard’s Tale IV: Barrows Deep and The Mage’s Tale!
  • The final content to be released will be a Legacy Mode, a set of options which allows players to make the titles play similarly to the 1980s originals… with all the challenge that entails!

Partnering with Australia-based Krome Studios, The Bard’s Tale Trilogy is an ambitious undertaking for inXile, especially as no complete source code for the original games could be found. Not only that, each game worked and looked differently depending on its platform, and each title was different in many ways from the others. Often times, it was discovered that features in some versions of the games were present but had no actual functionality.

“If archaeology and game development had a baby, it would be this project,” said Lindsay Parmenter, Head of Development at Krome. “By studying the code across different versions of the game, we were able to piece together developer intent and recreate it. Of course, having access to some of the original team members helped, too!”

inXile CEO Brian Fargo added, “We were extremely limited in what we could do in the 1980s. This is an opportunity to truly realize the vision that the original dev teams had, and in some cases fix a few bugs that are over thirty years old. Even with all the challenges this project presented, we’re thrilled with how this has turned out, and we can’t wait for our fans to start playing this.”

The Bard’s Tale Trilogy launch trailer can be viewed here:

In 2015, a successful Kickstarter campaign for The Bard’s Tale IV brought the series back after nearly thirty years. As part of their commitment to backers and fans of the franchise, inXile embarked on this remaster project, as well. Now in 2018, the wait is over. The Bard’s Tale Trilogy is a chance for old fans to be young once again and for a new generation of roleplaying and dungeon crawler fans to discover why these games matter so much all these years later.

Frostpunk People and Automatons Update Trailer

August 6, 2018 — 11 bit studios produced and developed, Frostpunk was released in April but development and improvement on the title hasn’t slowed down! Today, 11 bit studios is happy to announce that the brand new DLC ‘People and Automatons’ is now available to all owners of Frostpunk – for free!

While working on this update, we at 11 bit studios have spent hours on top of hours browsing through forums and comment sections on Frostpunk. Based on suggestions from our community, most of the features and changes implemented directly address those concerns — and because of that we’d like to take this opportunity to thank all the people who are contributing there on daily basis. You do a great job! Without further delay, let’s take a look, at the new content;

  • Naming Characters and Automatons — You can now change the names of your people and automatons. This feature not only allows you to dive deeper into the in-game world, but will also help you while managing your city because from now on, you’ll be able to search for individuals (both men and machines) using given names.
  • New Visuals — We dedicated many hours working on new visuals for certain elements of the game, including; Hunter Airships, Hunters’ Huts, Gathering Posts, Outposts and Workshops. From now on your city will look better than ever before and what’s more, it will be easier to find certain facilities among all the other buildings.
  • Intel NUC Skull Canyon and Razer Chroma Support — It’s rather self explanatory, really! If you own the aforementioned devices you can now use their full potential in our games. We think you’re gonna like it!
  • Fixes, optimization and ALL THAT STUFF — As always, we crushed a number of bugs that were bothering our players and optimized here and there, improving the overall experience for the game. For the full list of changes, be sure to check the changelog.

V-Rally 4 Gets Two New Gameplay Trailers

Lesquin (France), August 3, 2018: Bigben and Kylotonn Racing Games today release two new videos highlighting V-Rally 4’s rally mode, as well as the special stage generator featured in the upcoming epic off-road game arriving this fall.

Get ready for an adrenaline rush in today’s gameplay videos, one taking place in the particularly humid conditions of Malaysia and the other in Kenya.

A rally is made up of several timed stages called “specials” that severely test a driver’s nerves. To be a successful rally driver, you need to love risk, be able to keep your head straight when going through tricky areas, and have the ability to adapt when unexpected weather complicates matters. Your co-driver’s notes are often critical.

In V-Rally 4’s rally mode, the highly varied environments of the specials require you to draw on all your driving skills. Speed through the breathtaking environments of Malaysia, Japan, Siberia, Kenya, Sequoia Park and Monument Valley! Pay attention to your co-driver’s notes displayed on the screen so you won’t be surprised by a tight bend!

Entire road networks have been created for the rally environments, with an impressive level of detail. In addition to the pre-defined specials, V-Rally 4 provides an even more unpredictable challenge through the specials generator. Just like rally organizers, the specials generator randomly opens and closes road intersections, which means there are hundreds of possible routes through each environment. Your route is not a collection of pre-defined roads and bends: it uses parts of the road network, and each special is different, with unique characteristics. That makes it rather difficult to learn the bends by heart. Once at the starting line, you’ll need to demonstrate courage and concentration!

Each discipline provides a unique driving experience so that V-Rally 4 racing fans can test their skills and learn new driving techniques. Your versatility will also come in handy in career mode, which takes drivers around the world.

V-Rally 4 will be available in September 2018 on PlayStation®4, Xbox One, and PC. The game will also be available on Nintendo Switch™ at a later date.
