Korn Releases New Music Video for World of Tanks Blitz Halloween Event

Wargaming today announced that the iconic band, Korn, and free-to-play video game titan, World of Tanks Blitz, launched a special Halloween collaboration, revealing the music video for ‘Finally Free’, a track featured on Korn’s latest studio album, The Nothing. The exclusive video sets the stage for World of Tanks Blitz’s brand-new Halloween mode: Burning Games.

Fans of the band and World of Tanks Blitz players won’t want to miss out on Convergence, a five-stage event which brings Korn to the widely popular game that boasts more than 137 million downloads globally. From October 16th through October 24th all players can complete in-game challenges to uncover pieces of band artwork and extra special items.

This event also features the brand-new Burning Games mode, where players will fight for dominance on the battlefield in order to secure in-game rewards. In a Halloween-themed twist, from the time the battle clock starts, every vehicle on the battlefield will start draining health like a vampire, and players will need to deal damage to their foes in order to get their health back. The Burning Games mode is available to all vehicles Tier V and above and runs from October 16th through October 24th.

“Wargaming is no stranger to musical collaborations, having teamed up with Iron Maiden, Swedish metallers Sabaton, and punk rock outfit, The Offspring, for previous projects,” said Andrey Ryabovol, Product Director of World of Tanks Blitz. “Korn is the perfect partner for our Halloween event, and we can’t wait for rock fans and World of Tanks Blitz players to experience this exciting collaboration.”

“I really like World of Tanks Blitz. It’s true to the era, there are a lot of great tanks in there, and you don’t just jump in and start shooting,” said Jonathan Davis, lead vocals, Korn. “I think there is a connection between rock and video games because video games are intense and rock ’n’ roll music is intense. It seems like they have always gone hand in hand.”

The music video for ‘Finally Free’ tells the story of Captain, a die-hard Korn fan (and a known character in the World of Tanks Blitz universe) who’s doing all he can to get to Korn’s live performance at the ‘Burning Games’. The problem is a crew of wasteland raiders who do all they can to keep him from his goal. Will he make it to the front row of the Korn show in time?

The Halloween extravaganza will also include The Way of the Raider, a 60-stage event. Tankers will be able to get Credits, Free XP, days of Premium Account, several camos, a сustom player profile, and two new post-apocalyptic vehicles: The Tier V Spike and the Tier VII Annihilator. Both tanks are featured in the new video from Korn. All tankers who complete all 60 stages will be able to get their hands on the unique animated “Radioactive Glow” camo. The Way of the Raider runs from October 16th through October 31st, and is available to all vehicles Tier V and above.

And finally, from October 24th through October 31st, Mad Games makes a welcome return. A true fan-favorite, the game mode gives tankers unique abilities ordinary tanks could only wish for.

Observer: System Redux Remembers Rutger Hauer

Bloober Team has released interview footage with the late Rutger Hauer from his time in-studio recording lines for Observer in one of his last acting roles as Dan Lazarski/Observer.

“Rutger was a good friend and will be missed,” said Piotr Babineo, Bloober Team CEO. “It was hard hearing him and knowing that he is not with us, but in a way, being able to share his voice again felt special. This interview really shows the depth of passion he had in his role as Dan — he was a wonderful person, and we’re deeply sorry that he passed.”

“While developing System Redux, many of us on the team would talk about what it was like to work with him.” Said Babineo. “As a team, we’re in love with Rutger’s work and this game is as great a tribute to him as we could make. There’s a hidden in-game Easter egg nodding to his iconic role as Roy in Blade Runner.”

Airplane Mode Out Now

Flight attendants, prepare the doors for arrival and crosscheck — AMC Games is pleased to announce that Airplane Mode is now available on Steam for $11.99 USD. Created by Hosni Auji and Bacronym Games, this passenger simulator is a chance for players to unplug and enjoy a transatlantic journey from JFK to Halifax or Reykjavik in real time.

Airplane Mode simulates everything that happens between boarding a flight and arriving at your destination, including crying babies, spotty wi-fi, the possibility of turbulence, and the choice between a delicious fish or chicken dinner. No two flights in Airplane Mode are ever the same, because flight events and circumstances are randomized for a replayable travel experience.

“It’s hard to believe that this once strange idea for a game, which I was almost too timid to make, is now going to be out there for people to experience and, hopefully, enjoy,” said Hosni Auji. “Airplane Mode wouldn’t have been possible without the hard work of my team and support of the folks at AMC Games. Now that the game has taken off, I look forward to seeing the response…and the opportunity to come up with more aviation puns.”

“One of my favorite things about this title is that it really pushes the boundaries of gaming,” said Clayton Neuman, VP of Gaming for AMC. ”At AMC Games, we’re always trying to give players a memorable, unusual, or exciting experience, and Airplane Mode definitely fits at least one of those descriptions. We’re thrilled for players to finally get their hands on this one-of-a-kind game.”

Game highlights include:

● Entertainment. Airplane Mode includes a variety of in-game content, such as podcasts, videos, music and more—and some of these are exclusive to the game. For example, the Podcasts app on your in-game phone includes an ambient music podcast available only inside Airplane Mode.

● Authenticity. Infamous game designer Bennett Foddy lends his voice and personality as the voice of your captain throughout the flight. Before takeoff, you’ll view an inflight safety video produced by AMC Games’ “slightly off” network sibling IFC.

● Simplicity. Unlike other aviation games, there is no learning curve with Airplane Mode. You can start relaxing from the very first minute, with no need for extensive tutorials or instructions.

● Discovery. Randomized flight events create a different experience every time. Will your flight be smooth through clear skies, or will you experience turbulence and stormy weather? Will you be annoyed with crying babies and a delayed arrival, or will you find enjoyment and peace on your journey?

● Perseverance. Depending on your mood and mindset, your flight may be challenging instead of relaxing. Will your brain successfully battle boredom and allow you to arrive at your destination?

● Comfort. Enjoy the experience and quiet familiarity of flying without the worries and discomfort of real-life air travel — no lost baggage, no leg cramps, and no jetlag!

Airplane Mode is available exclusively on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/931310/Airplane_Mode/

EVE Online Phoenix Quadrant 4 Trailer

Today, CCP Games are excited to reveal Phoenix, the fourth and final Quadrant of 2020 coming to the deep and uniquely player-driven spacefaring MMO game EVE Online. As the Triglavian invasion comes to its year-long finale, EVE pilots will be faced with rebuilding New Eden and carving new pathways in the aftermath of star-spanning changes disrupting interstellar travel. Quadrant 4: Phoenix is now live and will see the release of free content updates to all players throughout the rest of the year.

Capping off this year’s expansive and space-shattering series of updates, begun by Quadrant 1: Fight or Flight, continuing in Quadrant 2: Eclipse and culminating in all-out war with Quadrant 3: Zenith, the Phoenix Quadrant will end the year in spectacular fashion, offering new rewards, challenges, content, visual updates and key balance changes.

“This year, the culmination of the Triglavian Collective’s plans has wreaked havoc upon New Eden, a universe-wide invasion that has devastated both star-systems and the lives of its citizens alike,” said Bergur Finnbogason, EVE Online’s Creative Director. “In shifting to Quadrants in 2020 we have been able to dream bigger, to create more meaningful, impactful content that challenges and engages our players. With Phoenix, we are taking Capsuleers past the invasion and posing the question: how do you shape your future?”

Quadrant 4: Phoenix thrusts EVE pilots into a universe ravaged by war, amidst the embers and wreckage of a Triglavian invasion that has profoundly affected the lives of New Eden’s citizens. In the aftermath of their invasion, the Triglavian Collective’s usurping of many star systems has irrevocably changed the landscape of New Eden. Pilots have joined their cause, taken up arms against them, and in some cases have been forced to relocate to other systems. In the wake of interstellar travel disruptions across the cluster, some systems will be permanently inaccessible through conventional means.

EVE’s colossal Supercarrier class vessels will be receiving a major update in the Phoenix Quadrant, including the introduction of a new clone vat bay feature that will enable pilots to spawn new ships directly from a Supercarrier’s bay if they are destroyed in combat, allowing players to get back into the action.

As the Quadrant unfolds, the Crimson Harvest and Yoiul Festival will return once again to celebrate the close of the year, offering new customization options and content for players to enjoy. Additional daily challenges will be available and expanded upon, giving pilots more reasons to undock and engage.

Lastly, the highly popular Abyssal Proving Grounds events will continue with new game modes, ship classes and leaderboards, allowing pilots to enter the lawless and chaotic Abyssal Deadspace, engaging in intense PvP combat to prove their worth and emerge victorious.

Arma 3 Gets Big New Update

Seven years after the official release of version 1.00 and dozens of updates later, Bohemia Interactive is proud to announce the 2.00 release of Arma 3. The latest update to the PC-exclusive military sandbox sim game adds a free new firing drill, as well as a new color edition of an existing firearm, a camo variant for selected gear, extra Steam achievements, and the option for players to share compositions made in Arma 3’s scenario editor via the Steam Workshop.

The new firing drill (Course of Fire: Gray) invites players to set a record time on a challenging course hosted by a familiar operative from Arma 3’s story campaigns. A gold medal is awarded to those who can complete the drill in under two minutes (2:00). Players running the course might encounter various surprises related to previous versions of Arma 3 if they know where to look and what to do.

Players can now share custom compositions from the game directly to the Steam Workshop. They can do so by accessing Arma 3’s extensive library of weapons, vehicles, equipment, characters, structures, and props available and arranging their in-game assets in the editor. When they’re done, all they need to do is save their selected assets as a custom composition and click on the appropriate icon to publish it to the Steam Workshop. Compositions can include anything from full-blown military camps to specific roadblocks or checkpoints, a Halloween pumpkin festival, a simple table and chairs, or anything in between. By sharing their unique compositions via the Steam Workshop, Arma 3 content creators can help each other build expansive, detailed, and atmospheric scenarios quickly and easily. Further documentation can be found on Bohemia Interactive’s Community Wiki.

But wait, there’s more! The 2.00 update also includes a new arid variant of existing CTRG special forces gear (stealth uniform and combat helmet – available for owners of the Arma 3 Apex expansion) and a black variant for the P07 pistol – both of which are used in the new firing drill. Players can also unlock three new ‘2.00’ themed Steam achievements. And finally, all players receive a lifetime’s virtual supply of “Arma” Eau de Combat, which is now available as an in-game glass perfume bottle prop.

The complete changelog for update 2.00 can be found on the Arma 3 website. Those who have yet to pick up the game, or simply wish to complete their DLC collection, can get the Arma 3 base game and all of its downloadable content (DLC) at up to 75% off on Steam. People who purchase the Arma 3 Ultimate Edition, Apex Edition, Contact Edition, or DLC Essentials will receive an additional bundle discount on top. This special offer is available from Wednesday October 14 until Monday October 19 (starting and ending at 10:00 PDT/19:00 CEST).

The Alpha version of Arma 3 was first released in March 2013. It was one of the first titles to enter Steam Early Access and became the first to graduate from the Early Access program when version 1.00 was released on September 12, 2013. Since then, the Arma 3 base game has sold over 6 million copies, received over 80 free updates, and has been reinforced by 10 DLC packs and 2 expansions selling over 11.5 million times combined. Aside from its wide variety of official content, Arma 3 has also become a popular platform for user-generated content with over 75,000 items shared by players on the Steam Workshop, adding tons of free community-made scenarios, assets, sounds, gameplay features, and total conversions to the game.

Arma 3 remains popular to this day, with a 90% positive user rating on Steam (based on 120,000+ reviews), 100,000+ registered community groups (units), and an average playtime per user of 150+ hours. Hundreds of thousands of people still play the game every month. Bohemia Interactive currently plans on publishing several new Arma 3 projects made by third-party developers as part of its Creator DLC initiative. The first Creator DLC, Global Mobilization – Cold War Germany, was released in April 2019, and has sold more than 100,000 copies to date.

Six Flags Great Adventure Hallowfest Scaring Safely Video

At Six Flags Great Adventure, fall has been synonymous with Fright Fest and its cutting-edge, movie-quality zombies for nearly 30 years. Gifted special effects artists and bold, in-your-face scare actors and have transformed autumn into a popular season of terror without the use of masks – instead utilizing elaborate air brush makeup, custom prosthetics, and intricate hand painting. Although the COVID-19 pandemic temporarily sidelined the theme park’s iconic Fright Fest, park management was determined to maintain the world-class look of its zombies during its new HALLOWFEST event while protecting the health and safety of its artistic team, scare actors, and guests. Six Flags Special Effects Makeup Supervisor Andrea Kovalik met the challenge by putting a new twist on an old Halloween tradition.

Kovalik may not have had the “typical” childhood. Raised in family where Halloween was a passion and way of life, Kovalik’s parents transformed their Jackson, NJ home into a haunted house each fall, complete with an indoor graveyard and skeletons rigged on pulleys. But when they brought her to Six Flags Fright Fest for the first time, four-year-old Kovalik was terrified of the scare actors playing zombies. To help calm her fears, Kovalik’s father dressed her like a zombie and brought her back to the theme park. The plan worked.

Under the watchful eye of her parents, she roamed the midways in full costume and makeup, often scaring guests. While girls her age were dressed as fairytale princesses, Kovalik clutched a plastic severed leg and preferred a darker look with hallowed eyes and bloody boils. She became a regular fixture at Fright Fest each year.

By the time she turned 12, Kovalik had begun applying her own makeup. Her skills evolved quickly and her look took a dramatic turn – with razor blades and safety pins seemingly lodged into her skin, and the illusion of a zipper splitting her face in two. She even drooled blood from edible capsules down her frilly, dirt stained, white dress.

It was no surprise when Kovalik became an official Fright Fest scare actor at age 17. In a backbend, she walked on all fours, growled, howled, and delivered memorable moments of terror for thousands of guests. But her talents pulled her in a different direction – into the special effects makeup room.

At the age of 20 with obvious talent but no formal training, Kovalik was invited to join Six Flags’ special effects makeup team. Her first supervisor introduced her to the basics of air brush makeup. For the next five years, she was committed to developing her craft through self-education and experimentation. In 2019, Kovalik was promoted to special effects makeup supervisor, and designed and created her own prosthetics. This skill helped prepare her for the next challenge in 2020.

Due to the global pandemic, Six Flags introduced an extensive, new safety protocol to keep its guests and team members safe. This meant that the traditional, in-your-face Fright Fest would have to be temporarily replaced by a less amped, more eerie HALLOWFEST. With thermal scanning, touchless bag checking, social distancing, enhanced sanitization, and masks as key elements of the “new normal,” Kovalik, 27, was faced with the daunting task of maintaining Six Flags’ incredibly high standard of zombie artistry in a masked, COVID-19 world. She experimented with various ideas and materials until she landed on the perfect solution – a latex mask cover for a surgical mask that her artistic team could seamlessly blend with the rest of the actor’s face using their advanced airbrush and hand painting expertise.

“We knew that just wearing regular costume masks over surgical masks would destroy the quality of our product. We pride ourselves on the seamless, authentic ghoul look that we’ve created over the years,” Kovalik said. “Our new latex mask covers provide a covering for half the face, and we’re able to blend the mask into the rest of the face as seamlessly as possible. The end result maintains our high Six Flags standard, and some say the look is even scarier.”

Kovalik designed more than 40 different latex mask covers for 120 different HALLOWFEST characters. She created the masks from her own molds and sculptures, and hand painted each one. Ear loops from the medical mask slip through slits in the latex mask cover to keep it in place on the actor’s face. Both masks cover the actor’s nose and mouth. Each actor has their own latex mask cover that is sanitized daily. The medical mask is discarded after every use.

Kovalik’s team of eight artists wear protective masks, sanitize their makeup tools, and work outdoors. “Safety is always our top priority, and thanks to our new mask covers, we can deliver the same high-quality scare our guests expect while keeping everyone safe.”

Kovalik credits her job’s artistic freedom and her supportive team of artists for her mask cover invention. “My job gives me the freedom to create and bring my ideas to life. But the best part of my job is my team – we’re all so supportive of each other and each other’s art. I have my dream job, and it’s changed my life,” she said.

HALLOWFEST runs weekends and select days until Nov. 1. It features “Thrills by Day” and “Chills by Night” with 16 different Halloween-themed attractions plus the park’s world-class thrill rides. For more information, visit www.sixflags.com/greatadventure Reservations and advance tickets are required and available at www.sixflags.com/reserve. Most HALLOWFEST activities are included with park admission, active Memberships and Season Passes. Chills By Night begins at 6 p.m. and is not recommended for children under 12 and those who scare easily.
