Alien Vs Predator: Requiem Production Stills

Yahoo Movies has posted several production stills from Alien Vs Predator: Requiem. Some are actually pretty cool! Below is, imo, the best of the bunch.

Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem is the upcoming sequel to 2004’s Alien vs. Predator film. Filming began on September 25, 2006 in Vancouver with Tom Woodruff, Jr. and Alec Gillis from Amalgamated Dynamics handling the special effects (as they did for the previous installment) and Daniel Pearl as director of photography. The Brothers Strause (Colin and Greg Strause) have directed the movie from a script by Shane Salerno. Actors Steven Pasquale and Reiko Aylesworth will play leading roles in the film. Unlike the PG-13 rating of the original, which garnered some criticism, the film is rated R for violence, gore, and language. The BBFC’s classification decision for the movie is the same as the original.

Eurogamer Alien vs Predator: Requiem Review

EuroGamer has reviewed Aliens Vs Predator: Requiem for the PSP, based on the movie of the same name, giving it a 4.0 out of 10 rating. Seems as though they believe the game to be VERY average and nothing special.

From the article:
‘Which sums up Alien vs. Predator: Requiem. It’s not a badly made game. With the exception of the camera, everything works. It looks all right. It’s not the worst videogame we’ve ever played, and it’s certainly not the worst movie tie-in. But it’s entirely lacking in imagination and innovation. There’s nothing that hasn’t been done before and no incentive to keep playing. A month from now we’ll probably have forgotten we’ve ever played it. But by then we’ll be in negotiations with Peter Bowles’s agent, obviously.’

ROCCAT Creates Line of Gaming Peripherals

ROCCAT Studios is introducing a line of gaming peripherals. Their new mouse, the Kone, sports adjustable lighting around the perimeter of the device. However, the dpi and polling rate are not mentioned yet on the website. The Valo, is a gaming keyboard with 2Mb of internal memory for storing profiles, illumination, lcd screen, and 40Mhz response rate. They also have a new mouse pad out called the Sense. The keyboard will cost roughly $147 dollars and the mouse will set you back $103 dollars. They currently will release in Europe during February, but we will work on obtaining review units ASAP.

CompUSA to call it quits

CompUSA, which used to be one of the leading computer retailers in the U.S., has been unable to stay competitive even after closing 126 retail outlets last February.  Attempts to sell the chain to Circuit City and several others have been unsuccessful, so the retailer will begin selling off it’s inventory and other assets during the holiday season.  Substantial markdowns on merchandise can be had for those close enough to one of the stores.  For others it may be time to consider a ‘road trip’?

Call of Duty 5 Rumor

Joystiq has posted a rumor that Treyarch is prepping to set Call of Duty 5 back in World War II once again. The series, most recently set in modern times with Call of Duty 4, has been praised for it’s realistic depiction of weapons and their lethality.

Gamespot Turok Hands-On

Gamespot has posted a preview ‘hands-on’ of the latest Turok game in production. They present a few game scenarios and it seems as though Turok will be more than just a straight-forward shooter. Turok looks to require some real thinking to overcome obstacles and enemies. This, of course, taken with a grain of sand coming from the source.

FASA Founder Owns His Electronic Rights Again!

Gamasutra reports that 42 Entertainment (I love bees), FASA (Battletech), and WizKids founder Jordan Weisman has reacquired the ‘electronic rights’ to his intellectual property from Microsoft – which recently shut down it’s FASA Game Studios. This means the original creator of Mechwarrior, Shadowrun, and Crimson Skies can begin to create any new game he wants to, based on his franchises.

This is great news for fans of these franchises, as Microsoft’s closure of FASA Game Studios basically halted any further development from them and their recent production of Shadowrun was a critical flop.

Deus Ex 3 Plot Detail Leak?

GamesRadar reports that there are apparently two versions of the Deus Ex 3 trailer floating about. The original featured the date ‘2027’ written on the ‘Biopolitic’ ballot box. The other version has the same scene, but no date on the box, a last minute detail catch? If that is the date at which DE3 takes place in, that means it will take place 20 years prior to the events of Deus Ex.

BioShock Widescreen PATCH!

VideoGamer has posted regarding the recent BioShock patch that allows gamers to use the originally intended widescreen field of view. This, as you may recall, was a source of controversy as the retail copy of BioShock included a ‘widescreen’ mode that was actually a cropped ‘standard’ mode, not a full widescreen resolution. This has been fixed and 2k invites you to enjoy the game as it was originally intended. Below is a pic from VideoGamer that shows the contrast in widescreen field of view with and without the patch.
