Spike Announces VGA Nominees and Video Game Hall Of Fame Award

Spike TV has unveiled the nominees of its upcoming Video Game Awards, which airs live on November 10th, 2011. The company has also announced it will be making The Legend of Zelda its first entry into its Video Game Hall of Fame, gracing the title with a special award at the show.

“The ‘VGAs’ always celebrate the best games of the year and preview the future with world premieres,” said Casey Patterson executive producer of the “VGAs” and executive vice president of event production for Viacom Media Networks Entertainment Group. “Now our Video Game Hall of Fame will recognize the game franchises throughout history that have brought the industry to where it is today.”

“It is only natural to start with ‘Zelda,’” said Geoff Keighley, executive in charge, publisher relations, Spike. “‘The Legend of Zelda’ is a franchise that inspired many of us to see the potential of games when it debuted 25 years ago, one that has successfully transitioned from one game console generation to the next and has continually shown the narrative and artistic potential of the medium.”

Skyrim Selling Insanely Well

After just one week on the market, it appears as though The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, is doing well! ZeniMax Media, parent company of Bethesda Softworks, has announced that it has shipped over seven million units of the game and anticipates it will generate more than $450 million in global retail sales!

Nickelback and Pro Upgrades Coming to Rock Band 3

Harmonix has announced that on November 22, 2011 there will be two things of note coming to the Rock Band Music Store. First, a new pack of songs from Canadian rock group Nickelback. Second, Harmonix is releasing some Pro Guitar and Pro Base upgrades for three Red Hot Chili Peppers’ tracks. Get the full details below!

Afterfall: Insanity Demo Out Now

The demo for Nicolas Games upcoming third-person horror-shooter, Afterfall: Insanity, is available now for the Windows PC platform. The full, retail game is due out on November 25th, 2011 but this demo will give you a taste of the post-apocalyptic horror.

Demo Description

In the first part of the demo, Albert will come face to face with diabolical creatures in a dark and claustrophobic shelter.  In another part, you’ll work your way through the sewers, eventually making your way to a deserted town, which provides a glimpse of just how war-torn the world really is.  As shocking as the demo is, it only reveals part of the danger you’ll face on Afterfall: InSanity.  Not only will you have to conquer demons and infected humans, but also Albert’s own delusions and fears.

Mad Catz Announces Cyborg M.M.O. 7 Gaming Mouse

Mad Catz has unveiled their latest gaming mouse, the Cyborg M.M.O. 7. The gaming mouse will begin shipping in January and will feature their new 6400dpi “twin-eye” sensor.

Prime: Battle for Dominus Gets Name Change

Pitchblack Games has announced that its upcoming MMO, Prime: Battle for Dominus, is now going to be titled Dominus.

Warren Weems, President of Pitchblack Games, said, “The market for massively multiplayer games is crowded, and we wanted our standout game to have a standout name. Our old name was just too long. Because we’re getting ready for a larger scale beta, we wanted to make the change before even more people heard about us.”

Michael Phelps: Push the Limit Demo Out Now

Blitz Games and 505 Games have announced that the demo for their upcoming Michael Phelps: Push the Limit is now available on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace. The demo utilizes Microsoft’s Kinect controller-less system. The demo allows players to checkout the Xbox LIVE leader board functionality and even swim in single player against the clock and two-player local multiplayer in the stunningly realized Perth Arena.

King Arthur II: The Role-playing Wargame Closed Beta Test

Paradox Interactive has announced that they are now accepting a limited number of applicants for their closed-beta test of King Arthur II: The Role-Playing Wargame. Additionally, the company released some new screenshots from the strategy title.
