Razer CEO Donates 10,000 to Wasteland 2 Kickstarter

We received this letter from Razer’s PR specialist:

This is Kevin Scarpati, Razer’s Public Relations specialist. I wanted to personally send you over some exciting news this morning regarding Razer’s CEO, Min-Liang Tan. As you probably know, our CEO is incredibly outspoken about his passion for gaming, and today, he’s putting his money where his mouth is. Min pledged $10,000 toward the Wasteland 2 Kickstarter campaign (you can find that page here: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/inxile/wasteland-2). He’s one of only four people on the planet who has pledged that much, showing his dedication to the gaming community.

Per his generosity, Min will receive 50 free units of Wasteland 2 once the game launches, which he’s planning on giving away to the gaming community. You can check out Min’s public Facebook page for more details by going here: http://www.facebook.com/minliangtan. We’d love to see this campaign reach its goal of $900,000 in funding (they’re two-thirds of the way there, already!), so if there’s anything else that I can help you with, let me know!

Lollipop Chainsaw Voice Cast Revealed

Today, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Grasshopper Manufacture are happy to reveal the voice cast that worked with filmmaker James Gunn (Super, Slither, Dawn of the Dead) to flesh out the characters and create a wonderfully wicked world of gumdrops and gore.

Tara Strong, the renowned voice behind dozens of video game and cartoon characters, including Harley Quinn in last year’s Batman: Arkham City, stars as the game’s central protagonist, Juliet Starling. Michael Rosenbaum, known for his role as Lex Luthor in Smallville, voices the disembodied head of her boyfriend Nick.

Outside of the two leads, the rest of the cast is no less impressive with names appearing from all over the film and television industry. Checking in to bring some verve to Cordelia is Linda Cardelleni, known best as Lindsay Weir from the cult classic Freaks and Geeks. Shawnee Smith, one of the stars of the first four Saw films and Michael Rooker, of Walking Dead and Slither, also appear in the game. Veteran TV and film actor Gregg Henry (Slither, Payback, The Riches, Hung) takes on the role of Juliet’s father and brings all the flair one would assume given his Elvis-inspired pompadour and roots as one of the greatest zombie hunters ever.

Swan, Romero High School’s resident goth, will be played by James’ brother Sean Gunn, who has also appeared in the 2010 film Super and Gilmore Girls. The final piece to this puzzle is the impressive set of lungs on rocker Jimmy Urine from the band Mindless Self Indulgence. On top of contributing to the game’s soundtrack, Jimmy lends his voice talent to the deranged Zed.

XSEED to Begin Steam Publishing

Torrance, Calif., (March 13, 2012) – XSEED Games, an independent-minded publisher, is proud to announce that they will be bringing Ys: The Oath in Felghana and Ys Origin, both from acclaimed Japanese developer Nihon Falcom, to PC on Steam.  Ys: The Oath in Felghana will launch on 3/19 at a price of $14.99. More details on the launch of Ys Origin will be provided at a later time.

“People have been asking for Falcom’s great catalog of PC games to be officially made available in English for a long time,” said Jun Iwasaki, President of XSEED Games. “To start our new publishing arrangement on Steam with two standout entries from Falcom’s action-based Ys series, one of which has never been made available in English before, is an ideal situation for us, and we are excited about the future possibilities.”

Ys: The Oath in Felghana & Ys Origin

XSEED Games delighted RPG fans in 2010 and 2011 when the company published several Ys titles from legendary RPG developer Nihon Falcom to the PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system, and now Ys fans can celebrate once more as two of the series’ most revered titles, Ys: The Oath in Felghana and Ys Origin, are heading to PC as digital downloads via Steam.

Ys: The Oath in Felghana is an action RPG driven by fast-paced combat and paired with an intricate puzzle-filled world, and an enhanced port for the PSP system garnered many accolades when published by XSEED in 2010. This Steam release is true to the original Japanese PC release from 2005, but with added Steamworks features such as Steam Achievements and Steam Cloud support. The game follows the ongoing adventures of series hero Adol Christin and his trusty companion Dogi.

Conversely, Ys Origin serves as a prequel to the original Ys, and is the first Ys title not to feature Adol Christin or Dogi. This will mark the first time that the game, originally released in Japan for PC in 2006, will be officially released in English. Set 700 years before the first title in the Ys series, the game’s story focuses on the twin Goddesses and the mysterious Black Pearl made famous in Ys I & II, and follows the adventures of several playable characters as they ascend the menacing Darm Tower.

Wasteland 2 Begins Kickstarter Fund

You may not be old enough to remember the venerable RPG, Wasteland, but it was the inspiration to the Fallout game series – developed by Interplay founder Brian Fargo. inXile Entertainment has decided to develop a sequel and is asking for your orders in pitching in for the game. It will be $15 smackers a person, but you will get a copy of the game for it. There are more expensive donations, but I will leave it to you to read up on those.

About Wasteland 2

Wasteland 2 is the direct sequel to the first ever post-apocalyptic computer RPG. The original Wasteland was the inspiration for the FALLOUT series of games, and the first RPG to allow players to split parties for tactical considerations, to face players with moral choices, and to make them deal with the consequences of their actions. It was the first to provide far more than the one-key-for-one-lock style of puzzle solving. It was groundbreaking, which is why IGN named it one of the top 25 PC games of all time, Computer Gaming World named it the Adventure Game of the year in 1988, and it was short-listed for inclusion in the Smithsonian Institution’s current “Art of the Computer Game” exhibition.
