Event[0] to Release in September

PARIS – July 13, 2016IN SPACE, NO ONE CAN HEAR YOU TYPE… Event[0], the award-winning sci-fi narrative exploration game in which players must build a relationship with a lonely spaceship computer to get home, is coming to Windows PC and Mac this September via Steam and the Humble Store by Humble Bundle. A new teaser trailer for the game that poses the question, “What would you say to a computer if your life depended on it?” can be viewed at event0game.com.

The indie game first drew attention as a concept demo that won multiple indie gaming awards, including Innovation at BIG 2015 and Student Award winner at EIGD 2014. The first-person narrative exploration game transports players to the desolated spacecraft, Nautilus. As a player, your only companion is an insecure AI entity named Kaizen with whom you interact by typing messages on computer terminals throughout the ship. The game’s multi-layered story emerges organically as players communicate with Kaizen, freely explore 3D environments, gather information and solve hacking puzzles.

Set in a retrofuture inspired by 2001: A Space Odyssey, Solaris andBrave New World, Event[0] is a game about building a personal relationship with a machine using natural language. Kaizen can procedurally generate over two million lines of dialog and the AI entity has a strong personality influenced by human input. Players communicate by typing messages into a computer, and Kaizen responds. As in any relationship, there can be gratitude, disappointment or jealousy, and Kaizen reacts differently depending on its mood. By working through the fears and anxieties of your virtual companion you can ultimately find your way back to Earth—while unraveling the cryptic history of the ship and the 1980s society from which it emerged.

Event[0] began as a six-month student project before evolving into a full title under the auspices of Ocelot Society, which was founded by key members of the team. The game is backed by France’s CNC public arts organization and by the Indie Fund, a funding source for independent developers launched as an alternative to traditional publisher models.

Event[0] takes me back to the kind of magic I felt playing Zork as a kid,” said Ron Carmel, Co-Founder of Indie Fund and Co-Creator of World of Goo. “There are moments where I can suspend disbelief and feel like I’m actually having a conversation with an advanced AI, probing its inner workings with words.”

The game is created using Unity Engine 5 and utilizes physics-based rendering and advanced lighting techniques to create richly detailed environments inside and outside the ship (players can leave the ship for breathtakingly scary spacewalks). Eschewing a traditional game score, all sound, including incidental music, comes from items in the environment. The ship is essentially the AI computer’s body, and reacts to Kaizen’s mood by making different sounds—which can give the player valuable clues.

Event[0] is like our AI child: over the past two years it has grown from a vibrant but limited concept into a fully realized narrative exploration game,” said Léonard Carpentier, Co-founder and CEO of Ocelot Society. “Our team has created an evocative world for players to explore and Kaizen can’t wait to find new humans to become best friends with!”

More information on Event[0] will be released in the coming weeks if Kaizen can be convinced to cooperate.

MilitAnt Launch Trailer

July 12, 2016 – Created by Xibalba Studios for the PlayStation®4 and PC (Steam™), MilitAnt is a fast twitch side-scrolling blastacular action platformer that launched worldwide today on Steam. Its PlayStation®4 version hits the US today while the European invasion is set for July 14. The PlayStation®3 and PlayStation®Vita launches will be announced at a later date and will support Cross-Buy and Cross-Save with PS4.

“We are proud to launch MilitAnt on PS4 and PC. MilitAnt is the type of shooter armed with nostalgia and advancing difficulty. It should feel both familiar and completely exotic at the same time. Most importantly, MilitAnt brings the fun back into side-scrolling shooters, which has been sorely missed recently,” said Ricardo Villarreal, CEO, Xibalba Studios.

Spawned from an incubation program, MilitAnt has earned numerous awards, such as the “Best Shooter” award from the Intel Level Up Game Demo Contest. The game was also selected as a nominee for Game Connection America’s “Best Project” award. Xibalba won ESA’s (Entertainment Software Association) Professional Developer category at Video Juegos MX for MilitAnt.

In MilitAnt, you play as an Ant. Deep underground, the Ants guard Crystalite which is the most precious resource. It is the chief fuel behind most modern Insect technology, from day-to-day tools to advanced weaponry. Fair trade among the many kingdoms has brought about long years of peace and prosperity, but there grows tension over the resource with some factions wanting to control it. The more envious factions have been gaining influence. War looms on the horizon.

MilitAnt opens with a sudden invasion. Termites have overrun the Ants’ colony! All seems lost. And yet, one brave Ant warrior (you) rises to the challenge. From the familiar depths of the colony’s mines, you must venture into the strange world above. When not soaring through the sky or visiting the Beetles’ mysterious realm, you’ll find yourself escaping from the jungle or being stalked in a bleak wasteland: each stage of the journey is beautiful yet dangerous, exotic and unique. Massive bosses stand in your way, each with an amazing battle theme composed by award-winner Gerard K. Marino.

In MilitAnt, players can gather quite an arsenal, from flamethrowers and sentry guns to electric beam rifles and more! And as an Ant, the warrior can carry weapons in all four hands. Preparation is key: only by unlocking and equipping the best combinations in each situation can he win victory and save the colony.

Built upon a diverse, open platform, the expansion offers up a multiplayer-focused set of content, complimented by some great new additions to our arsenal, all set in the truly splendid backdrop of Tanoa – a fresh experience of combat, and an exicting new sandbox for our dedicated community.”

Corsair Launches ML Magnetic Levitation PC Case Fans

FREMONT, CA –July 11th 2016 – CORSAIR®, a world leader in enthusiast memory, PC hardware and components today announced the launch of its new range of ultimate, high-performance cooling fans, the ML Series. Equipped with a revolutionary new Magnetic Levitation Bearing and custom rotor design, the ML Series redefines fan performance to deliver higher airflow, lower noise and better cooling, whatever the requirement.

When powered, the magnetic levitation bearing completely suspends the fan blades from the motor housing, delivering almost frictionless operation. The huge reduction in friction, in comparison to all conventional physical contact bearings, allows the ML Series to offer lower noise at higher RPMs giving PC Enthusiasts a true no-compromise fan.

Offered in ten different variants, the new ML Series is available in a full range of colors and multiple sizes, letting you customize both your build and your performance. Launching in standard ML, ML PRO and ML PRO LED models and in both 120mm and 140mm sizes, there’s an ML fan to suit almost any performance PC cooling requirement.

All ML fans offer a huge PWM range, giving users total control over how their fans perform. Value silence above all else? At their lowest speed of 400 RPM, the ML Series will push more airflow at near silent 16 dBA (decibel A-weighting). Performance junkie? ML Series fans push up to 97 CFM (cubic feet per minute) of air. Be it a low noise case, high density radiator or anywhere in-between, the ML Series delivers best-in-class performance.

ML Series also provides next-level fan customization. ML PRO fans feature removable color co-coordinated corners fitted to the fan’s vibration dampening rubber grommets, allowing easy color matching to accent your build’s color scheme. ML PRO LED goes even further, mounting four ultra-bright LEDs into the central fan hub to radiate vibrant, even lighting through the fan’s frosted blades.

“We built the ML Series to be the ultimate fan, offering exceptionally low noise levels to those who value silence and insane airflow for those who demand it” said Michael Hooper, Product Manager for Cooling at CORSAIR. “With the use of the Magnetic Levitation Bearing and custom rotor, we’re able to create a single fan that lets the user choose their perfect balance between airflow, static pressure and noise with no compromises.”

Specifications:

Magnetic Levitation Bearing: Harnesses Magnetic Levitation technology to provide lower noise, higher performance, and a longer lifespan.

Custom Rotor Design: Delivers the perfect balance between high static pressure and high airflow, operating flawlessly in the most challenging environments.

Extensive Control Range: A 2,000 RPM control range gives you total control between low noise and absolute performance. At 400 RPM ML Series 120mm fans provide 12 CFM of airflow at just 16 dBA for near silent running. At 2,400 RPM, the same fans offer a huge 75 CFM of airflow, at an un-intrusive 37dBa. You choose the balance between silence and performance, and the ML Series delivers.

Color Customization: Replaceable corners mounted to anti-vibration rubber dampers allow you to match your fans with the rest of your build while delivering quiet operation at higher speeds.

Bold LED’s: ML120 PRO LED and ML140 PRO LED are available in Red, White or Blue, with ultra-bright LEDs mounted to the center rotor, outputting a vivid blast of light and color.

Pricing, Availability, and Warranty

All ML Series fans are backed by a comprehensive five year warranty and are available immediately from the CORSAIR worldwide network of authorized retailers. ML Series fans are available in ten different variants in both 120mm and 140mm sizes. Please refer to the below grid for MSRP. Prices are Exc. Tax.

New Attack on Titan Trailer

Burlingame, Calif. July 6, 2016 KOEI TECMO America today revealed the multiplayer Scout Mode as well as additional gameplay mechanics available in Attack on Titan, the titanic action game based on the worldwide anime hit by the same name, alongside three new character trailers and a new gameplay video highlighting the game’s Decisive Battle Signal system. Attack on Titan will release on August 30 for the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft, and digitally for the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, PlayStation®Vita handheld system and Windows PC via Steam®.

The high-octane Scout Mode allows players to recruit up to three companions online to venture outside the wall and face the eerily human-like Titans together. Starting at the camp, team members are able to upgrade their gear, change their costumes and prepare resources for an upcoming onslaught. The leader of the group is able to choose from a wide selection of missions taking place across a variety of different stages, including the Forest of Giant Trees, the Ruined Town, a Farm Village and even the Stohess District. These missions, separate from the main campaign, offer further action-packed events to face as a team.

Throughout Attack on Titan players will have the opportunity to upgrade their titan-slaying gear. The Omni-Directional Mobility Gear, blades, and scabbard can be enhanced at the camp with materials found from slaying Titans on single player and multiplayer missions. Enhancements to the Omni-Directional Mobility Gear include improved anchors, allowing them to attach on to Titans from a greater distance and at faster speeds. Blades can be sharpened, as well as improved to become longer and more durable, with scabbard upgrades allowing additional blades and gas canisters to be carried. It is important for players to enhance their equipment to perform more effectively on the battlefield.

KOEI TECMO America released a new gameplay video highlighting the Decisive Battle Signal. Rescuing regiment members in danger and slaying Titans will fill up the Decisive Battle Meter which, once used, calls everyone in the player’s vicinity to their side to deal a great amount of damage. When activated their attack damage will be heightened, with the blunting of blades and depletion of gas momentarily stopped.
