New Vampyr Screenshots

Vampyr, the new Action-RPG from acclaimed game-development studio Dontnod, explores combat on the flu-ridden streets of 1918’s London. All manner of dangers prowl London during a bout of the lethal Spanish Flu. From Vampire hunters to mutated abominations, Jonathan Reid will face foes as well as friends on his mission to discover the truth behind his new affliction.

Armed with an array of conventional melee and ranged weaponry, attack and dodge foes to fill up Jonathan’s Blood Gauge, required to unleash powerful vampire attacks. From impaling enemies on a spike, to draining them of blood at a distance, as Jonathan’s Blood Gauge fills during a combat situation, his Vampire affliction will start to overtake his more human side, unleashing destructive spells and abilities against those who try to stop him.

A non-linear skill tree will unlock through experience gained new, more powerful attacks and abilities. Jonathan is able to equip these abilities in any order, effectively allowing players to create their own archetypes to match their play-styles. Play aggressively and deal greater damage, or more securely, focusing on crowd-control and keeping enemies at bay. Skills can be evolved two different ways, for example, Spring, a skill that allows you to rush instantly to a distant enemy, can be developed to either deal area-of-effect damage or grant temporary invincibility. The choice is yours.

Combat difficulty can be affected by player actions out of combat. Feeding on civilians provides a huge XP boost, which will make combat situations easier – but that comes with caveats; an increased danger on the streets, and narrative consequences for the world’s citizens, to name a few. Full brawls are not the only options open to Doctor Reid, he can also stalk his prey, or even utilize his vampire speed and agility to avoid combat entirely.

Players will have to investigate who to feed from, and who to spare, conscious of their need to increase their strength. Jonathan’s Vampire impulses will always be working against his human side.

Take up the plight of Jonathan Reid when Vampyr releases in 2017 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Afghanistan ’11 Announced

September 29, 2016 – The critical success of Vietnam ’65 quietly stormed the market last year. The game (81 on Metacritic) was a breath of fresh air, for a genre that failed to show sifgnicant innovation for a long time. Developed by indie studio Every Single Soldier, Vietnam ’65 touched on a very delicate topic with a gameplay system that was both coherent and evocative.

Today, we are proud to announce that Every Single Soldier is hard at work on Afghanistan ’11. This is a game that takes the concept of counter-insurgency warfare to a whole new stage. Leveraging on a very solid game system, Afghanistan ’11 follows in the footsteps of its predecessor, but adds a whole new political aspect to it.

Afghanistan ’11 isn’t a standard strategy game: winning is not just about eliminating the enemy on the battlefield, but about winning the Hearts & Minds of the locals by ensuring safety to villages, isolating and eliminating taliban leaders, training the Afghan army and building and protecting infrastructures.

Logistics and organization are extremely important as the Talibans, tribal militias and drug lords will attempt to twart efforts with sneaky ambushes and terroristic attacks – the enemy plays hide and seek and could be everywhere and only the most skilled strategists will manage to win the war in Afghanistan and help build a modern nation.

The Surge Modular Exo-Armor Gallery

Deck13’s upcoming sci-fi action RPG The Surge today reveals the industrial armor sets of international corporation CREO, a company that set out to save the world. Set on a dying Earth in a not-so-distant future, something went very wrong inside CREO, and you, as a new employee find yourself trapped in a sector of the company overrun by malfunctioning drones, robots, and security personnel.

The LIQUIDATOR, featured in the first screenshot, is fitted with industrial attachments for use in areas prone to hazardous material spillage. Built around the slogan “quality protective gear for the safest workplace”, the Liquidator offers super-human resistance to radiation, fire, and toxic spills, with mobility aided by the exo-skeleton.

The second screenshot features CREO‘s PROTEUS medium physical protection armor set. An experimental set equipping certain of CREO‘s security personnel, the PROTEUS is an advanced and light-weight armor granting a small health regeneration effect. It also only needs medium core power cost allowing for a little extra juice for implants.

This last screenshot features a mix of armor sets. LYNX was developed for workers requiring speed, flexibility, and precision. Far from standard issue, few CREO workers would benefit from its inherent advancements in hydraulics. It features low core power cost, but this comes at the cost of physical and elemental protection against radiation and other environmental hazards. We also see elements of MG GORGON and BLACK CERBERUS armors, designed for heavy security and riot control actions.

Each item in The Surge serves a purpose for CREO, often originally separate to combat. Be it industrial, manufacturing, for lifting or handling hazardous materials, or on-site security, the player will cut off and equip thousands of combinations of items salvaged in battle.

The Surge will release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC in 2017.

The Necromantic Team Comes to Blood Bowl 2

September 9, 2016 – Blood Bowl 2, the sequel to the video game adaptation of Games Workshop’s famous board game that combines American football with the fantasy world of Warhammer, today welcomes a new race on its pitch: The Necromantic. As shown in today’s screenshots, this fearsome new team is backed by the bloodthirsty Werewolves – the Necromantic DLC is now available on PC, and later the same month on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

The dead do not rest easy in the graveyards of the Old World. So it was only a matter of time before a Necromancer would decide to shackle these unstoppable killing machines with arcane and powerful magic, and soothe their tortured souls with a nice game of Blood Bowl!

The Necromantic teams are a very versatile team, but their best players are their Werewolves. These lethal killing machines are its main attacking force, providing pure psychopathic fury and claws that can render armour utterly useless. The Werewolves and the powerful Flesh Golems are expensive, however, so Necromantic coaches need to play cautiously.

We remind you that PC/Mac Steam players of Blood Bowl 2 can still benefit from THE FOUNDERS INCENTIVE. If you purchase the game before the release of the Nurgle team, you will receive this team for free as soon as it’s available.

Blood Bowl 2 is currently at 70% off on Steam for the Focus Publisher Weekend 8-12 of September.

The Walking Dead: The Telltale Series – A New Frontier Coming in November

September 2, 2016 – During our panel at PAX West today, Telltale took the stage to deliver some additional details surrounding the highly-anticipated third season of The Walking Dead.

Since its unveiling at E3 in June, the title and release window for the next season of the series have been tightly under wraps. Today, we can announce that ‘The Walking Dead: The Telltale Series – A New Frontier’ will be premiering this November on consoles, PC/Mac, and mobile platforms. The series will also be available for purchase on a special ‘Season Pass Disc’ for consoles, which will include the premiere episode for the third season, as well as access to all subsequent episodes in the five episode season for download as they become available.

“This third new season will serve as both a continuation of what’s come before in our story, as well as an all-new beginning set nearly four years after the outbreak events of Season One,” said Kevin Bruner, Co-Founder and CEO of Telltale Games. “As a harrowing and horrific drama, ‘A New Frontier’ will explore beyond what it means to survive in a world ravaged by the undead, and will see our characters confronting the new rules of order and justice in a land being brutally reclaimed and rediscovered by what’s left of humanity itself.”

Players will take control of series newcomer Javier, a man struggling to keep his family together in the new world, while also playing as Clementine, now a teenage survivor holding secrets of her past while fighting to protect family of her own.

“When we began this series, we explored what it meant to protect a character like Clementine at all costs,” said Kevin Boyle, Executive Producer on the series. “Years later, meeting her for the first time, Javier will begin to unravel the mystery of who Clementine has become, as her story intersects with his – both of them still driven by the things they value most long after society’s collapse.”

‘The Walking Dead: The Telltale Series – A New Frontier’ will be premiering this November. For more news and information on the third season, stay tuned to telltale.com, follow @telltalegames on twitter, and on follow our page on

Super Toy Con Las Vegas Wrap Up And Gallery

Super Toy Con Las Vegas moved locations this year, which concerned more than a few attendees that going from a small convention space to a full sized arena might be too much.  What wound up being surprising was what a perfect fit it was, a little tight even the design of the arena space put every type of activity in it’s proper space.  There for celebrity autographs? Floor two to the right.  Autographs from cosplayers and the Garbage Pail Kids artists that were celebrating 30 years? Floor two to the left.  Floor one arena was dedicated to vendors with a curtained off end zoned with all the artists and creative vendors.

Things didn’t quite go as planned, attendance was hurt by the 50th Anniversary Star Trek Con also being in town and pulling just about everyone who every appeared in an episode into the con including Kirstie Alley and Clint Howard.  As for Super Toy Con Las Vegas they had some of their anchor names not make it which they tried to adjust for by having great group ups like all the bad guys from The Karate Kid, the main cast of the original Battlestar Galactica and Power Rangers.

Word needed to get out more about it, a lot of folks including in the comic book and toy community didn’t know about it which was a shame because it was a great even for such a great price.

15th Annual Star Trek Convention Las Vegas Wrap Up and Photo Gallery

It may have been the 15th Annual Star Trek Convention in Las Vegas but the real key is that it is the 50th anniversary of the original airing of the show and just about everyone who has ever appeared on it was there to celebrate all these years among the stars.

We all remember the primary cast but sometimes we forget that people like Kirstie Alley was in one of the movies and made her first convention appearance or that Ron Howard’s brother Clint Howard had a famous role so many years ago.  The wall between cast members and fans definitely came down as you walked around and saw famous actors asking for pictures with cosplayers.  People were just people as they talked about their experience in front of the camera and in front of the television, it was the way it should be.

there was also an amazing art gallery and terrific photo ops, the only problem I would say is that it was sold out so quickly and so expensively that it did limit who could go and even how much media was able to cover it.  Every minute was precious though as the 15th anniversary of the the convention would only come around once and more importantly the 50th anniversary of the original airings is such a milestone that few can beat.
