Sierra to Publish Shiftlings this Spring

Shiftlings_Screen1

SANTA MONICA, CA – January 15, 2015 – Sierra™ today announced it has teamed up with Rock Pocket Games to publish the Norway-based studio’s upcoming puzzle platforming game, Shiftlings, coming to consoles and PC this spring.

Shiftlings was the kind of game we immediately knew we wanted to work on after playing it,” said Bob Loya, Sr. Director of External Development for Sierra. “Rock Pocket’s inventive take on the puzzle platformer epitomizes Sierra’s focus on finding great indie talent within the development community and giving them access to the tools and platforms they need to share their unique creations with the world.”

Set in an intergalactic reality show, Shiftlings is a quirky puzzle platformer about a pair of space custodians who travel the cosmos completing complex challenges. Shiftlings‘ special twist is that these two oddballs are linked by a single air hose, allowing them to pass gas back and forth between their space suits in an instant. This feature lets one character expand massively in size and weight, reducing mobility but providing clever ways to solve objectives and reach new terrain. The full adventure, crafted for both single-player and two-player local and online cooperative multiplayer, sees our intrepid janitorial heroes conquering over 50 levels spread across five unique worlds.

Shiftlings is expected to arrive on Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system and Windows PC in spring 2015. This game is rated T (Teen) by the ESRB. For more information as it nears release, please visitwww.rockpocketgames.com/shiftlings, and follow Rock Pocket Games on Facebook and Twitter.

Six Flags Great Adventure Announces El Diablo Looping Coaster

diablo-loop-coaster

Jackson, NJ – January 14, 2015 The devil is in the details for Six Flags Great Adventure’s new looping coaster, set to open this spring. Originally announced in the fall of 2014 as “Looping Dragon,” with an Asian-inspired moniker and location in the Golden Kingdom section, the park’s 13th coaster was re-imagined by park management who opted for a more “devilish” theme – El Diablo.

“The Jersey devil has deep roots in our state’s history, and inspired the new theme for our upcoming thrill ride,” said Park President John Fitzgerald.

The giant, fiery red El Diablo looping coaster will make its home next to the world’s top-rated wooden coaster, El Toro, in the Mexican-themed Plaza del Carnaval section. It features riders sitting in “face-off” seats rocketing forward and backward pendulum style until the train gains enough momentum to complete a full revolution seven stories in the air. The coaster then kicks into high gear, completing full revolutions until it stops momentarily with riders suspended upside down, and then reverses direction for even more thrills.

“El Diablo is the perfect addition to Plaza del Carnaval, as it appeals to both thrill seekers and familiesalike. Rides like El Toro and Tango attract a wide audience to this area, which also provides ample opportunities for dining, shopping and relaxation from the excitement of the world’s largest theme park,” Fitzgerald added.

El Diablo is set to open this spring, and will have a 48-inch height requirement to ride.

Shadowrun: Hong Kong Kickstarter Campaign Begins

shadow-run-hong-kong

KIRKLAND, WA (January 13, 2015) – Today, indie video game developer Harebrained Schemes launched a new Kickstarter campaign to crowdfund it’s third full length stand-alone game set in the cyberpunk-meets-magic world of Shadowrun.

Unlike their smash success at crowdfunding the entire development of Shadowrun Returns, Harebrained Schemes is approaching this Kickstarter differently, asking backers to become co-funding partners so they can add more to Shadowrun: Hong Kong.

“We’ve already begun development of the Hong Kong game,” said Mitch Gitelman, co-founder of Harebrained Schemes and Executive Producer of Shadowrun. “We’re self-funding the first 12 hours of gameplay at the quality level of Shadowrun: Dragonfall – Director’s Cut. But we have plenty of ideas for features and runs that didn’t fit into our budget. We love Kickstarter and we think there’s no better co-funding partner than our fans to help us take our game to the next level.”

Set in the magically awakened city of Hong Kong in 2056, players will find themselves exploring the underworld of triads, tongs, wild magic, and bleeding edge cybertech with a crew of flawed, dangerous runners each with their own backstory and special abilities.

“We couldn’t be more excited to bring our fans an all new, full length standalone tactical cRPG set in Hong Kong,” said Jordan Weisman, co-founder of Harebrained Schemes and creator of the Shadowrun world.  “Every time we release a new Shadowrun campaign, we set out to improve on the art, the gameplay and, especially, the storytelling.”

In 2012, Harebrained Schemes funded the development of Shadowrun Returns on Kickstarter and became the first video game company that raised over $1M and delivered the game to backers. More importantly, the game was critically acclaimed and appeared on many Best of 2013 lists and was awarded Game of the Year from Hardcore Gamer.

Their next title, Shadowrun: Dragonfall, was initially released as DLC and was given to Kickstarter backers for free. Last September, the studio released Shadowrun: Dragonfall – Director’s Cut, a standalone upgrade that was made available for free to all Dragonfall DLC owners. The Director’s Cut was one of the highest rated PC Games of the year, appeared on many Best of 2014 lists, and was awarded Game of the Year from RPG Gamer.  A tablet version of the Director’s Cut was released for iOS and Android in December.

“We’re very excited to have Harebrained Schemes back on Kickstarter,” said Luke Crane, Community Manager for Games at Kickstarter. “They did a great job with their first Shadowrun project and have continued to release amazing work since. They’ve shown how Kickstarter creators can invite backers into the development process and build a loyal base of supporters. The new project looks like it’s going to continue their streak of excellence!”

Shadowrun: Hong Kong will be developed for Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems only, with DRM-free versions available through GOG and Humble.  Harebrained Schemes expects to release the game mid-2015, at a price point similar to their previous games.

To learn more about Harebrained Schemes’ current Kickstarter campaign, now underway until February 17, 2015 at 10am PST, please visit the website here.

Activate decontamination drones using the map-based scorestreak to help clean out the competition.
  • Urban: Prepare yourself for brutal, high-speed combat in Dallas Ward 3, a future mega structure, funneling players into a close-quarters free-for-all. This modular compound’s verticality unleashes the exoskeleton’s capabilities. Stay focused during the timed event as blast doors alter the map’s flow and sightlines.
  • Sideshow: In the shadow of Devil’s Tower, Wyoming, this abandoned inn’s open layout amplifies its creep factor. Blast your way through the clown inn with close-quarters battles or use long-range site-lines from the mining facilities and natural terrain. Use the map-based scorestreak to activate the lights, music, and magic of the clown marquee and rain down a barrage of rainbow smoke-trailed cannonballs.
  • Drift: An idyllic ski resort high in the Rocky Mountains is transformed into a festive high-altitude playground, perfect for an all-out firefight. Make your way to the highly contested over watch in the glass observation deck or take a ride on the carousel to deliver 360 degrees of carnage. Players can use the map-altering timed event to their advantage as an avalanche of snow and debris disorients players, intensifying the battle.
