Now the action of World of Tanks: Xbox 360 Edition will expand onto the battle arena of Xbox One as Wargaming’s iconic tanks deploy a new generation of tank warfare. Just like the Xbox 360 Edition, this title will be available as a free download for all Xbox Live Gold members*.

“A year ago, World of Tanks arrived on Xbox 360 and has flourished, adding millions of players to the global ranks of Wargaming tankers,” stated T.J. Wagner, Executive Producer of Wargaming Chicago-Baltimore. “Wargaming’s invasion into the console space is fully underway. Our forces are aligned and we are proud to advance to the next level on the Xbox One platform.”

Universal Studios Hollywood’s 50th Anniversary Celebration

fast-and-furious-supercharged

Universal City, California, February 17, 2015 – The spotlight shines brightly on Universal Studios Hollywoodas the world-class destination celebrates a milestone 50th anniversary with the much-anticipated opening of the “Fast & Furious—Supercharged” thrill ride, “Springfield,” an-all new immersive experience surrounding “The Simpsons Ride,” and a “Nighttime Studio Tour” as part of the theme park’s pioneering epic transformation.

This monumental undertaking—the most ambitious in the theme park’s storied 50-year history—will radically alter and reimagine its familiar footprint as The Entertainment Capital of L.A. sets its sights on the next 50 years.

From its humble beginnings five decades ago, Universal Studios Hollywood has emerged as one of the most progressive and exciting theme park experiences anywhere, while remaining true to its roots of immersing guests in the awe-inspiring world of movie-making magic.

Since its inception, Universal Studios has lifted the veil on Hollywood’s most illustrious industry, placing guests at the heart of favorite movies and television shows. It continues to be at the forefront of innovation, imagination and inspiration, working in collaboration with some of the most influential filmmakers in the business and the greatest minds in entertainment—Steven Spielberg, Matt Groening, James L. Brooks, Peter Jackson, Michael Bay and Chris Meledandri—to create intriguing rides and attractions.

“For 50 years, Universal Studios Hollywood has given guests unprecedented access to the world’s most alluring business by inviting them to peek behind the velvet curtain and become part of the exciting movie-making process,” said Larry Kurzweil, President of Universal Studios Hollywood. “We are reimagining over 75 percent of our destination as we build upon our incredible success and expand our vision for the future, and we look forward to entertaining and inspiring guests for generations to come with what will ultimately be an entirely new theme park experience.”

The “Glamour Trams” of yesteryear that gave way to today’s world-famous Studio Tour is undergoing a top to bottom makeover to coincide with the 50th anniversary, and by 2016, will roll out a fleet of new, contemporary trams, including the installation of ultra-comfy cushioned seats.  A modern exterior and sleek logo design will contribute to the updated aesthetics of these iconic trams, while a new Art Deco-themed Studio Tour entry portal, located within the theme park, will greet guests.

Offered in multiple languages, including Mandarin, Japanese, Spanish and English and led by expert guides, the acclaimed Studio Tour remains a hallmark Universal Studios Hollywood attraction bringing millions of guests through an authentic movie and television studio and into its elusive world motivated by three compelling words:  lights, camera, action.

The action, however, is only getting started.

This summer, high-octane excitement will race onto the scene when Universal Studios Hollywood introduces “Fast & Furious—Supercharged,” a pulse-pounding, adrenaline-fueled thrill ride as the new grand finale to the world-famous Studio Tour.

This gripping, technologically-advanced ride, inspired by Universal Pictures’ most successful film franchise of all time and featuring the film’s original cast members, will propel guests into the high-stakes underground world of fast cars and daring escapades traveling at accelerated speeds of up to 120 miles per hour. Situated within a newly constructed 65,000 square foot building on the legendary backlot, the high speed, 3D-HD ride will reunite stars from the Fast & Furious series—Vin Diesel (Dominic “Dom” Toretto), Dwayne Johnson (Luke Hobbs), Michelle Rodriguez (Letty Ortiz), Tyrese Gibson (Roman Pearce) and Luke Evans (Owen Shaw)—in a revolutionary mega-attraction, conceived as a new installment to the dynamic film series that can only be experienced at The Entertainment Capital of L.A.

The layout of the park will become unrecognizable when “Springfield,” hometown of America’s favorite family, The Simpsons, breathes new life to the sprawling and vibrant space surrounding “The Simpsons Ride.”  “Springfield” is designed to capture the spirit of the animated town and engage visitors and fans of the show in the intensely absorbing and colorful world made famous throughout the series’ record-setting 26 seasons.

Guests visiting “Springfield” will have the pleasant sensation of being hurled through their television sets and into the accurately depicted town, complete with signature eateries such as Krusty Burger, Cletus’ Chicken Shack, Luigi’s Pizza and Phineas Q. Butterfat’s Ice Cream Parlor, along with Homer’s favorite hangouts, Lard Lad Donuts, Moe’s Tavern and Duff Brewery.

Universal’s slate of new 2015 attractions will entertain from sunup to sundown when the theme park broadens the scope of its popular Studio Tour with the introduction of a “Nighttime Studio Tour,” designed to enlighten guests on the art of moonlight movie-making.

Under a blanket of stars, over 20 locations along the famed Studio Tour route will showcase an array of luminous onset lighting and special effects used in nighttime production. Theatrical lighting will cast a glow on iconic backlot sets as Studio Tour guides shed light on Hollywood secrets and tricks of the world’s most glamorous trade, including how filmmakers create the effect of daylight amid the black of night.  Celebrated stars who found fame on Universal’s backlot will also make cameo appearances on the “Nighttime Studio Tour,” including Marilyn Monroe, Norman Bates and Frankenstein.  The “Nighttime Studio Tour” will run every weekend throughout the summer from July 4th through Labor Day.

The excitement that these new rides, attractions and themed immersive lands will bring to guests is only a prelude to the highly-anticipated arrival of “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™” in 2016.

In the spirit of the popular social media trend, Throwback Thursdays (#TBT), Universal Studios Hollywood’s Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram will pay tribute to its legacy with a collection of nostalgic photos. Join the conversation and share Universal Studios Hollywood memories using #UniStudios50th and @UniStudios.

Universal Studios Hollywood, The Entertainment Capital of L.A.SM, includes a full-day, movie-based theme park and Studio Tour; the CityWalk entertainment, shopping and dining complex, the Universal CityWalk Cinemas and the “5 Towers” state-of-the-art outdoor concert venue.  World-class rides and attractions include the incredibly popular 3D Ultra-HD adventure, “Despicable Me Minion Mayhem” and immersive “Super Silly Fun Land,” the critically-acclaimed mega-attraction, “Transformers™:  The Ride-3D,” the intense, award-winning ride, “King Kong 360 3-D” on the behind-the-scenes Studio Tour, “Revenge of the MummySM—The Ride” and “Jurassic Park® —The Ride.” As part of its milestone 50th anniversary celebration in 2015, Universal Studios Hollywood will debut a slate of dynamic new attractions, including the electrifying 3D-HD thrill ride, “Fast & Furious—Supercharged” as the grand finale to the famed Studio Tour, “Springfield,” hometown of America’s favorite TV family, adjacent to the award-winning “The Simpsons RideTM” and the “Nighttime Studio Tour,” offering evening tours of the iconic movie backlot.

EVE Online Tiamat Update Deployed

Svipul_Speed_Defense

February 17, 2015 — Today Tiamat has followed the Rhea release as EVE Online’s second feature bundle of 2015. Tiamat’s additions to the EVE universe focus on the evolving universe storyline, a new tactical destroyer, improvements to our new physically based rendering graphic system, and changes in corporation tools, projectile weapons and more.

Here are some of the changes in Tiamat:

  • Minmatar Svipul: The second tactical destroyer to leave the shipyards, the Svipul (pronunciation), brings dynamic transformations between defensive, propulsion and sharpshooter modes to match a constantly shifting space battlefield.
  • Corporation Tools: Player corporations receive essential management tools to help them better organize and attract new members, and can now decide whether “friendly fire” will be policed by CONCORD authorities.
  • Projectile Weapon Rebalancing: The quality and diversity of projectile weapons and ammunition has been improved with adjustments to small artillery and autocannons in particular.
  • Audio and Effects: A large audio engine update brings improved performance, atmospheric sounds for pirate factions, and more visceral turret sound-effects.
  • Visuals: EVE‘s new physically based rendering system provides enhanced indirect lighting during warp, reflected light from nearby planets, updated structures and more.

And, importantly, Tiamat also includes mysterious newcomers to New Eden (pictured) — and other things you have to be in space to discover.
Take care, though: They wield some of the most deadly weapons that aren’t fitted to a Titan-class ship.

Last year, after delivering over 20 expansions in eleven years, the EVE Online development team switched to an aggressive 5-6 week release cadence that has brought more features more frequently to our notorious and loyal assemblage of internet spaceship pilots.

For further descriptions of Tiamat’s features, see this in-development video.

LBX Tactical Costa Ludus Armatus Plate Carrier Review (Airsoft)

4019-mc-2_4

Modular plate carriers and chest rigs are steadily becoming the new hot ticket in tactical gear for airsoft players (and, for that matter, real steel shooters). There are a number of modular systems on the market from companies like Haley Strategic Partners, Velocity Systems, and several others. In this review, we are looking at the relatively new entry into the modular plate carrier field from LBX Tactical: the Armatus Plate Carrier and its M.A.P. (Modular Adaptive Panel) system. Co-designed by famed shooter and veteran Chris Costa, the LBX Tactical Armatus Plate Carrier secures its modular panels in place with two sheathed buckles and a large rectangle of velcro. However, even with the name recognition of both Costa Ludus and LBX Tactical, we were left wondering how the Armatus would stand up to the test of real usage. So, the folks at AirSplat were nice enough to send us a unit over for review. We were able to get one of the Armatus Plate Carriers with triple M4 magazine pouch panel in MultiCam as well as an additional modular panel so that we could attach our own pouches to it.

General Features

  • Low profile plate carrier with fast-clip front panel <
  • Carrier comes w/ LBX-4020B Triple M4 Panel <
  • Built in padded shoulder straps <
  • Reinforced drag handle
  • Removable elastic cummerbund
  • Front zipper admin pocket(4.5″ x 5.75″)
  • Loop iD Front(3″ x 5.75″) Back(9.5″ x 3″)
  • 500D Cordura
  • *M: Standard Medium 10″ x 12″ ESAPI Plate
  • *L: Standard Large 10.125″ x 13.25″ ESAPI Plate

4019-mg-1

The LBX Tactical Armatus Plate Carrier is a high speed solution to being able to wear a plate carrier into an engagement, airsoft or real, while making it easy to change your pouch or MOLLE gear configuration.  The Armatus Plate Carrier features a built-in, zip-up admin pouch that, while not very big, is spacious enough to hold a folded-up map or even a small, in-field notebook. Constructed from double stitched, 500D Cordura construction, the Armatus Plate Carrier has both front and rear plate panels with an elastic cummerbund that helps keep the rig snug against the wearer’s torso. The cummerbund is a double elastic band and allows for a great fit, but does not feature any MOLLE webbing at all. In fact, neither does the rear plate panel. The only MOLLE area on the Armatus Plate Carrier is located on the front plate panel’s M.A.P. area. Currently, LBX has a variety of M.A.P. panels – from triple M4 pouch models to medical pouch models. They even have a great set of M.A.P. panels with HSGI TACO mag pouches on them! While this lack of back or side MOLLE webbing seems like an out of the gate “con”, it is really a double-edged blade. While it might not allow the user to make use of added MOLLE space for pouches, it does allow the user’s arms to swing free at his or her sides. If you wear your mag pouches and/or pistol holster on a battle belt, you will love it as you can draw a sidearm or grab magazines without obstruction.

The good news is that, while at the 2015 SHOT Show in Las Vegas, LBX Tactical announced that they would be releasing a MOLLE cummerbund adapter. When this optional accessory is released, it will make the plate carrier just that much more versatile. There is no word yet on an exact release date or pricing on the MOLLE side pads. Another thing worth mentioning is that the LBX Tactical Armatus Plate Carrier is not compatible with the Velocity Systems Swift-Clips, a widely used attachment method for modular panels featured on a variety of plate carriers out there.

4020a-group-1

It should also be noted that the folks at LBX Tactical and Costa Ludus have created a M.A.P. compatible, full-length rifle bag with easily accessible space for your various panels. Basically, the LBX Tactical Armatus Plate Carrier is really just the tip of a modular panel spear waiting to be explored and put to use in the field. I wore the Armatus Plate Carrier with training E-SAPI plates installed and, while not as heavy as actual armor plates, the whole rig was comfortable and performed great. Despite needing some additional MOLLE space for my preferred loadout, which includes some utility pouches and a rip-away EMT pouch, I loved how fast and unencumbered I was while wearing it.

Overall, the LBX Tactical Armatus Plate Carrier is an excellent choice for a high-speed plate carrier. It is built to withstand both airsoft and real steel usage, so you know you are getting a quality-made product. Also, the mission configurable nature of the modular panels is high flexible and makes swapping loadouts on the fly is a breeze. The LBX Tactical Armatus Plate Carrier retails for $199.95, in either MultiCam or Wolf Grey. The base model includes a triple M4 magazine panel. The optional modular panel retails for $44.99 – both the plate carrier and modular panels can be found at online retailers like AirSplat.com.
