EA Sports UFC 2 Introduces Competitive Gaming Events

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – May 13, 2016 Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: EA) today announced the launch of Live Event Competitions, a brand new competitive experience in EA SPORTS™ UFC® 2 Live Events mode. Starting Saturday, May 14, fans around the world can play the qualifiers in the Live Event Competition to start fighting for their chance to earn Ultimate Team rewards and a trip to compete at the live finals coinciding with UFC Fan Expo®, part of the 5th Annual UFC International Fight Week™, and UFC® 200: CORMIER vs. JONES 2 in Las Vegas. The winner of the grand final match, taking place on Friday, July 8 at the UFC® Fan Expo in Las Vegas, will receive $10,000 USD* and walk away with the belt as the EA SPORTS UFC 2World Champion.

Players enter the competition in Live Events on the EA SPORTS UFC 2 menu, select one of four athletes fighting on an upcoming card, customize their athlete by applying five out of 10 fighter perks, and start competing online. All available in-game fighters are balanced with the same overall attribute rating and move level. Rankings on the global leaderboard are determined by the number of wins a player can accumulate during the qualifying period before taking three losses. Players are encouraged to go back and fight again as many times as they’d like to improve their top score during the qualifying period.

At the end of each qualifying period, eligible players with the top scores on Xbox One and PlayStation®4 will be invited to compete in the finals in Las Vegas where the champion will be crowned at the UFC Fan Expo leading up to UFC® 200: CORMIER vs. JONES 2, which takes place on Saturday, July 9, at T-Mobile Arena. The semi-finalists will receive tickets to the landmark event and other special prizes. The finalists aren’t the only ones who win though, as all players who compete in the Live Event Competition will have a chance to earn in-game rewards based on their overall performance.

Activision Blizzard Launches New Content for MLG ESport Streaming Platform

NEW YORK, NY. – May 12, 2016 – Today at the 2016 IAB Digital Content NewFronts, Activision Blizzard Media Networks (ABMN), a division of Activision Blizzard, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATVI), announced the launch of new content, broadcast experiences and distribution partnerships for its MLG.tv streaming platform.

MLG.tv debuted its Enhanced Viewing Experience (EVE) at the event, a High-Definition video stream with a built-in algorithmic system that provides viewers with match statistics, up-to-the-minute leaderboards, and situational insights based on the competition they are watching.

Steve Bornstein, Chairman of Activision Blizzard Media Networks and Former CEO of ESPN took the stage to introduce the network’s host, veteran broadcaster and retired professional gamer Chris Puckett. Midsummer Scream Horror Con Announces Oingo Boingo Dance Party

LOS ANGELES, May 11, 2016 – Let’s have a party, there’s a full moon in the sky! Midsummer Scream is thrilled to announce Oingo Boingo Dance Party will headline its Noche de los Muertos (Night of the Dead) celebration and costume contest at the Long Beach Convention Center Saturday evening July 30th, 2016.

Oingo Boingo Dance Party is comprised of former Oingo Boingo members Johnny Vatos, Steve Bartek, John Avila, Sam “Sluggo” Phipps, Carl Graves and Doug Lacy, along with a host of other wildly-talented musicians that keep the legacy of the iconic band alive and thriving for fans of multiple generations.

Oingo Boingo Dance Party will headline Midsummer Scream’s 21+ nighttime event, Noche de los Muertos, featuring a Best & Worst of the ‘80s Costume Contest, which will be judged by the band members themselves during the middle of their 90-minute concert performance. Midsummer Scream attendees are encouraged to dress up in their best – or worst – ‘80s Halloween costumes and strut their stuff across the stage as Johnny Vatos, Steve Bartek, John Avila, Sluggo and the gang cast final judgment!

Watch D&D Live from Meltdown Comics on June 1

May 12, 2016 – There are always funny and interesting people hanging out at Meltdown Comics in Los Angeles and the NerdMelt Showroom has been a host to hundreds of comedians over the years. Now we’re going to set up a table back there with Matthew Mercer at the helm to play Dungeons & Dragons and see what happens.

On June 1, we’ll stream D&D Live from Meltdown featuring comedians playing through a brand new story with characters they’ve created with the D&D story team. D&D Live from Meltdown will be hosted by Alison Haislip on Wednesday, June 1 at 4pm PDT and broadcasted live on the D&D Twitch channel.

The adventuring party will continue throughout the summer with a new regular weekly series debuting on the Nerdist Twitch channel. More details on the cast and what characters they’ll be playing will be announced soon!

Matthew Mercer, veteran voice actor and leader of the popular series Critical Role, will be the Dungeon Master after working hand-in-hand with the team at Dungeons & Dragons to develop the adventure. Alison Haislip (G4, ABC’s Battlebots) will serve as host for D&D Live from Meltdown, unveiling new D&D products and corralling the shenanigans on stage including interviews with Chris Perkins, Mike Mearls, Rob Overmeyer (executive producer of Neverwinter) and other D&D creators.

Stellaris Breaks Paradox Interactive Day One Sales Record

FATED: The Silent Oath PAX East 2016 Trailer

Québec, Canada – May 5th, 2016 – Canadian independent developer Frima Studio today released a behind-the-scenes video for FATED: The Silent Oath, its Norse-themed virtual reality game that launched last month on Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. The trailer provides a unique look into the inner workings of the game, and more insight into the development process of new experiences in virtual reality.

Knott’s for the Cure Raises over $130k for Susan G. Komen OC

May 4, 2016 – Knott’s Berry Farm and Susan G. Komen Orange County partnered for a third year to raise $130,588.00 for breast cancer awareness, services and research in Orange County during the 2016 Knott’s for the Cure. From January 4 through March 18 Pink tickets were available for purchase online, and limited edition t-shirts were sold in the park. A portion of admissions and merchandise proceeds benefited Susan G. Komen Orange County. The three month promotion raised funds to provide under-served and under-insured women and men in Orange County with access to breast health care and services.

Knott’s and Komen are committed to raising awareness and vital funds that will provide local access to breast health and breast cancer services for women and men. This year’s campaign focused on the promise that Komen founder Nancy G. Brinker made to her dying sister, Susan G. Komen: that she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever. In an effort to spread awareness, Knott’s Berry Farm and Komen Orange County invited guests to share their “for the cure promises” with social media using #KnottsPink. The promotion also provided guests with the opportunity to enjoy Knott’s world class entertainment, attractions and specially-themed pink décor, while supporting a great cause. The Calico Mine Ride and Knott’s 312’ tall Supreme Scream were lit pink in honor of the promotion and the drop tower overlooking the city of Buena Park glowed pink for miles around the park.
