SEGA Announces Humankind

PARIS, France – August 19th, 2019 – What if you could rewrite the entire narrative of human history? How would you change the course of Humankind? These are the questions at the center of our newest, wildly ambitious historical turn-based strategy title Humankind, where you’ll be leading your people from the Neolithic era to the modern age, combining cultures as you progress through the eras to create your own unique civilization.

[embedyt] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yl7YKppgaiY[/embedyt]

Humankind for us is truly a labor of love. As explained by our chief creative officer, Romain de Waubert: “Amplitude Studios was founded with the intention of creating this game, all the games we’ve created up until now have been leading up to this moment. We are so excited to finally be able to share with the community what has been at the heart of Amplitude since day one.”

Here’s what you can expect the day you launch your first game of Humankind:

  • One million civilizations– Create your own unique civilization by combining 60 different historical cultures from across the heritage of humanity. Begin as Ancient Egypt, then evolve into the Romans, the Khmers, or perhaps the Vikings—the choice is up to you. Each culture brings its own special gameplay layer, leading to near-endless outcomes.
  • More than history, it’s your story – Face real historical events and figures, make great scientific discoveries, and visit the wonders of the world. Shape your people’s beliefs and confront other players. Every decision you make adds a flourish to your story.
  • In the eyes of posterity– The journey matters more than destination. Fame is a new and unifying victory condition. Every great deed you accomplish, every moral choice you make, every battle won will build your fame and leave a lasting impact on the world. The player with the most fame will win the game.
  • A tactical world – Show off your tactical skills by mastering terrain elevation, city-building, full tactical battles and warfare. Choose the high ground for your city, and it will be harder to siege. Deploy your archers in the woods to avoid stampeding horsemen. Call upon your allies to help you in times of need and transform an epic battle into a full-scale multiplayer world war!
  • Humankind will release in 2020. A first look will be available to all Gamescom attendees at the SEGA area of the Deep Silver booth in Hall 9.1, Stand C-015-C-020. Stop by and catch a first glimpse of the future of the historical strategy genre.

For those who can’t make it, more information is of course available on the Humankind website as well as on the Steam page. Follow us on all social media at the handle @humankindgame. For more information about SEGA Europe, visit www.sega.co.uk.

Eberron: Rising from the Last War D&D Sourcebook Announced

RENTON, WA – August 19, 2019 – The world of Eberron offers an industrial take on fantasy storytelling with trains powered by lightning, airships docking above cities lit by magical streetlamps and manufactured humanoids walking among the elves and humans of the land. Eberron: Rising from the Last War is a 320-page book detailing the war-torn continent of Khorvaire, along with a wealth of features for D&D fans to incorporate into their characters’ adventures. It also introduces the artificer, the first new class made available for D&D since the release of the Player’s Handbook. Look for Eberron: Rising from the Last War everywhere on November 19, with a special alternate cover only available through game stores.

“Fans have been clamoring for more Eberron ever since we digitally released the Wayfinder’s Guide to Eberron last year on the Dungeon Master’s Guild,” said Nathan Stewart, Vice President of the D&D franchise at Wizards of the Coast. “Eberron: Rising from the Last War is the culmination of hundreds of playtests and player feedback sessions, and we think fans looking for something new will enjoy adventuring through a world with magically powered trains, airships, and mechanical beings.”

In addition to the artificer class—which fuses technology and magic—players will also be able to customize their characters with four new races and twelve magical dragonmark tattoos. A new game element called group patrons also provides parties with shared background features, helping to define adventurers’ roles in the post-war world.

Dungeon Masters can also expect to find a new cache of tools in Eberron: Rising from the Last War, including an overview of the continent of Khorvaire, a gazetteer of the towering city of Sharn, maps of lightning-powered trains and industrial workshops, plus tons of adventure hooks and details on designing adventures set after the Last War.

Coinciding with the release of Eberron: Rising of the Last War on November 19, the D&D Adventurers League will release a new season of stories called The Oracle of War. Across twenty episodes, players will discover an incredible treasure in the magically devasted Mournland, an artifact they swiftly discover is desired by every faction in Khorvaire. Fans can find out about organized play campaigns in D&D Adventurers League at dndadventurersleague.org.

Commanche Gamescom Trailer

Hannover, Germany / Vienna, Austria, August 19th, 1900 Zulu time: Critical security breach reported. Loss of classified military documents confirmed: The Blueprints for the advanced reconnaissance and attack helicopter RAH-66 Comanche have been leaked. The activity of a whistleblower is most likely. As a reaction, SACEUR has authorized THQ Nordic and Nukklear to continue with the production of “Comanche” as fast as possible to counter any possible threat and to start an “Early Access” program in early 2020.

Wait … the Comanche program is back, although it has been canceled after the rise of modern UAVs? Yep, that’s the background story for the new take on Comanche, that THQ Nordic and developer Nukklear have announced today. After the Iran-US RQ170 incident from December 2011, in which a UAV was hacked and captured through cyberwarfare, the “RAH-66 Comanche” was brought back to life, and received a new role. Next to reconnaissance and air-to-ground combat, the new Comanche also acts as a carrier of a specialized, non-hackable short-range drone, that is designed to operate in high-risk environments. A new era of helicopter warfare is about to begin …

With this setting, the new game – simply called Comanche again and based on the legendary gaming franchise from Novalagic – is set to take off 2020. Comanche will begin its early access campaign and lift off as a modern, team-based online multiplayer helicopter shooter. But that’s not the only new twist. Besides your Comanche, you will also control a small, armed drone for close-quarters combat and special duties. Each Comanche/drone setup will have its own strengths and weaknesses and fulfill an important role in the objective-based team-vs-team encounters.

Early access will allow the developer to create a new, a modern Comanche experience in cooperation with the fans and the community, to ensure the best helicopter warfare game ever. Comanche is bound to release in Q1 2020 on Steam’s early access program. The game is powered by Unreal Engine 4.

EVERSPACE 2 Gamescom Announcement Trailer

Hamburg, Germany – August 19, 2019 – After ROCKFISH Games landed a surprise hit on PC and consoles with its studio debut EVERSPACE™, the independent developer from Hamburg just announced the official successor EVERSPACE™ 2 at gamescom: Opening Night Live. In contrast to the roguelike concept of its predecessor, EVERSPACE™ 2 is an open-world space shooter with classic RPG elements and persistent player progression, as well as a much larger number of player ships and significantly enhanced storytelling. EVERSPACE™ 2 launching on Steam Early Access is currently planned for the second half of 2020, with the full version for PC, PlayStation® 4 and Xbox One scheduled for the end of 2021.

EVERSPACE™ 2 will clearly outperform its predecessor in terms of both audiovisual quality and scope, which is reflected in the significantly higher development budget. The first trailer, which celebrated its premiere at gamescom: Opening Night Live and is available on the ROCKFISH Games YouTube channel, was created exclusively from in-game video material. Space game enthusiasts can get a first taste of quality, gameplay and open-world feeling at the ROCKFISH stand at the Indie Arena Booth in Hall 10.2, where a polished prototype will already be playable.

“With its innovative concept of rapid space battles with rogue-like elements and exciting storytelling, EVERSPACE™ was able to excite over a million PC and console players, but many of our fans and space game enthusiasts were still longing for an open-world space shooter with classic RPG elements in the EVERSPACE™ universe,” says Michael Schade, CEO and co-founder of ROCKFISH Games. “With EVERSPACE™ 2, we are making a big leap towards an open-world space shooter, but will still remain true to our DNA and offer exactly what our fans love: A beautiful fantastic sci-fi world paired with uncompromising space action that gets down to business right away”.

ROCKFISH Games plans to launch a Kickstarter campaign on September 9, 2019 with a funding goal of €450,000 for EVERSPACE™ 2. As with the successful campaign of its predecessor in 2015, the EVERSPACE™ community will thus be involved in the development process as early as possible. On the other hand, the financial independence of the studio will be further secured in order to ensure full creative control at all times during production and, if successful, to even increase the scope of the game by activating stretch goals.

After the world premiere at gamescom, ROCKFISH Games will present EVERSPACE™ 2 at Pax West in Seattle from August 29 to September 2 and at TwitchCon in San Diego from September 27 to 29. For fans who do not have the opportunity to try the demo live on location, there is a 20-minute EVERSPACE™ 2 Let’s Play available on Youtube: https://youtu.be/jNjTfy0-U90.
