Gen Con 2026 Sees Over 74K Attendees and Announces 2027 Dates

Gen Con, the largest and longest-running tabletop gaming convention in North America, packed the halls of the Indiana Convention Center (ICC) last week with over 74,000 gamers and fans, setting an all-time attendance record and generating an estimated economic impact of more than $83.5 million for Indianapolis hotels, restaurants, and other local businesses.

“We were proud to welcome a record-setting 74,000 attendees from more than 45 countries this week for Gen Con, generating more than $83.5 million in economic impact for our city,” said Chris Gahl, Chief Business Officer with Visit Indy. “Together with the Gen Con team, we look forward to continuing the momentum into 2027 and the opportunity to grow the event into the expanding Indiana Convention Center.”

A severe Saturday evening thunderstorm and tornado warning caused leaking inside the ICC, but water falling from the ceiling couldn’t put a damper on high spirits, with staff responding quickly to ensure safety and make repairs. Attendees returned to their scheduled activities once the tornado warning was lifted, with minimal disruption to convention operations.

“Even through construction and thunderstorms, Gen Con 2026 was bigger and better than ever, with a record-breaking number of attendees gathering in Indianapolis for The Best Four Days in Gaming,” said Gen Con President David Hoppe. “We can’t thank Indy enough for hosting us, and we’re already looking forward to our 60th anniversary convention in an expanded Indiana Convention Center next year.”

Held each year since 1968, Gen Con gathers fans of board games, card games, roleplaying games, cosplay, and pop culture to play, shop, celebrate, and connect over a shared passion for gaming.

During the four days of the convention, attendees browsed and shopped the wares of nearly 800 game publishers and vendors and participated in nearly 28,000 events and activities, including a wide range of gaming sessions and tournaments, artist and author appearances, film screenings, musical performances, and the annual Gen Con Costume Contest.

New this year, event programming expanded to Victory Field, including a Dungeon Crawler Carl meetup with bestselling writer Matt Dinniman, who attended the convention all weekend long to play games with fans, livestream a full play of the new Dungeon Crawler Carl RPG from Renegade Game Studios, and more.

Additional marquee events at this year’s convention included a drone light show over Victory Field on Saturday night hosted by Wizards of the Coast, a Dungeons & Dragons takeover of the Indiana Repertory Theater that transformed the historic establishment into “D&D Tower,” and a Lord of the Rings-themed “Hobbiton Summer Festival” Magic: The Gathering activation in Lucas Oil Stadium.

Attendees also flocked to Gen Con’s outdoor Block Party activation on South Street. The outdoor, open-to-the-public festival featured dozens of local food trucks alongside Gen Con’s local food and beverage partners, including Sun King Brewery, HotBox Pizza, Daniels’ Vineyard, Helm Coffee, Island Noodles, and Prime 47.

Gen Con partners with charities each year to raise funds and spotlight the work of the selected nonprofit organizations. This year, attendees helped raise nearly $50,000 for Super Heroines, Etc. and Immigrant Welcome Center. Gen Con has raised over half a million dollars for charity since 2003.

Make-A-Wish® and Gen Con partnered to grant the wish of Eleanor, a teen who dreamed of attending Gen Con 2026. Eleanor attended the convention in Indy this year with her parents and sister, where the family was treated to four days of unforgettable memories and extra-special amenities and perks, making the ultimate wish of a young storyteller and tabletop gaming fan born with a critical heart condition come true.

“We’re grateful to the Gen Con team for creating such a special experience for Eleanor,” said Caitlyn Haddenhorst, Vice President of Mission Delivery for Make-A-Wish Ohio, Kentucky & Indiana. “She and her family enjoyed attending Opening Ceremonies, meeting Matt Mercer, attending the Costume Contest, and experiencing True Dungeon, among many other highlights over an unforgettable four days.”

Gen Con will return to Indianapolis from August 5-8, 2027, for its 60th edition. Next year’s convention will feature additional event and exhibition space from the 143,500-square-foot convention center expansion, including the new Signia by Hilton hotel, which opens in February 2027. Badges for next year’s convention will go on sale in early 2027 on the convention’s website (gencon.com).

Dracula: The Musical at The Nocturne Theatre Opens August 6th

This August, audiences won’t simply watch the legendary vampire—they’ll find themselves trapped inside his world. Vampires don’t belong on a distant stage. They belong right beside you.

The Nocturne Theatre’s production of Dracula: The Musical runs for a limited engagement, transforming the historic theatre-in-the-round into an immersive gothic world where no audience member is more than a few feet from the action. With a live rock orchestra, soaring operatic vocals, aerial vampires flying overhead, cinematic special effects, and Frank Wildhorn’s haunting score performed live, this is less a traditional musical than an all-encompassing theatrical event.

Based on Bram Stoker’s immortal novel, Dracula: The Musical follows Count Dracula’s obsessive pursuit of Mina Murray, a woman he believes to be the reincarnation of his lost love. As desire turns to terror and immortality collides with faith, Mina, Jonathan Harker, and Professor Van Helsing must confront one of literature’s greatest monsters before darkness consumes them all.

“Dracula has always been one of literature’s most seductive villains. We wanted audiences to feel like they had stepped inside one of the grand gothic films—where the music shakes the room, vampires fly overhead, blood spills only inches away, and every seat feels like the front row. It’s visceral, emotional, frightening, and surprisingly romantic.”

Rarely produced in the United States, Dracula: The Musical offers theatergoers a unique opportunity to experience this beloved cult favorite in an intimate, immersive environment unlike any other in Southern California.

Tickets for Dracula: The Musical start at $46.50 with the booking fee and are available for purchase at thenocturnetheatre.com.

When: August 6th-August 23rd, 2026
Where: The Nocturne Theatre, 324 North Orange Street, Glendale, CA 91203
Price: $46.50-$75.50, with booking fee

Violent Night 2 Gets An Official Trailer

If you’re nice, you get presents from the Big Guy. If you’re naughty, you get justice.

David Harbour reprises his role as Santa Claus in a propulsive new chapter in yuletide mayhem from 87North—the powerhouse producers of Bullet Train, John Wick, The Fall Guy, Atomic Blonde and the Nobody franchise—and returning action director Tommy Wirkola.

In 2022’s bare-knuckle holiday sensation, Violent Night, an embittered Santa, armed with lethal combat skills, took out a team of mercenaries to rescue a girl and her family. Now, not-so-jolly Saint Nick suits up again to take on a ruthless gangster (Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Jared Harris) terrorizing the merchants of the Silver Bell Mall.

But when Santa forgets the true meaning of Christmas, he finds himself in the heart of a lively mall community in desperate need of his help. Sapped of his magic, he’ll need another way to take on the goons threatening the mall, and time is running out. Santa has to rediscover his faith in goodness and call in some last-minute reinforcements from the one person no baddie wants to tangle with: Mrs. Claus (Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Kristen Bell).

Along with David Harbour, Jared Harris and Kristen Bell, the dynamic cast includes Emmy winning screen legend Joe Pantoliano (The Last of Us, The Sopranos), Daniela Melchior (Fast X, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3), Andrew Bachelor (Greenland, The Walking Dead), and AEW professional wrestler Maxwell Friedman (The Iron Claw, Happy Gilmore 2).

Violent Night 2 is directed by returning filmmaker Tommy Wirkola and produced again by 87North founders Kelly McCormick and David Leitch. The film’s returning screenwriters are Pat Casey and Josh Miller. Violent Night 2 will be released by Universal Pictures.

Korea. IL-2 Series Official Launch Trailer

1C Game Studios is excited to announce the release of Korea. IL-2 Series, the next-generation game of the acclaimed IL-2 series.

The game is available on PC (Steam and the official IL-2 Store) in the following editions:
– Standard Edition ($79.99)
– Premium Edition ($99.99)
– Deluxe Edition ($169.99)

Korea is a next-generation game of the IL-2 series. It is created on a new engine featuring updated damage and flight modeling.

Players will be able to fly eight aircraft of that era. They were recreated in great detail using real blueprints, photographs, and documents:

★ MiG-15bis

★ IL-10

★ Yak-9P

★ La-11

★ F-86A-5 Sabre

★ F-51D Mustang

★ F-80C-10 Shooting Star

★ F-84E Thunderjet

Apart from player-controllable aircraft, there are dozens of machines on the battlefield and in the air, such as B-29 bombers, as well as meticulously recreated ground vehicles, trains, and ships.

The action takes place on the largest map in the series’ history: more than 200,000 square kilometers. It is not a modern Korea but a region from the early 1950s that was reconstructed using historical documents. On the map, there are dozens of airbases with accurate layouts, hundreds of settlements, as well as ports and dams: all these places are connected by an extensive transport network.

Liquidation Early Access Launch Trailer

Publisher MicroProse and developer Divio are proud to announce that Liquidation is available today in Steam Early Access.

To celebrate the launch, the team has also released a brand-new launch trailer, showcasing the brutal conflict that awaits players on the dying world of Veá.

Blending fantasy and science fiction into a unique tactical RTS experience, Liquidation pits three radically different factions against one another in a desperate war over Quenrium, a mysterious substance capable of sustaining life on a planet pushed to the brink of extinction.

Designed around meaningful tactical decision-making rather than overwhelming army sizes, Liquidation rewards smart positioning, careful army composition, timely ability usage, and strategic battlefield control. Whether commanding the fanatical Twilight Crusade, the resourceful Scourge Alliance, or the infernal Legion, players will discover distinct playstyles, unique units, and powerful commanders capable of turning the tide of battle.

Launching in Early Access marks the beginning of Liquidation’s journey alongside its community. Throughout Early Access, the development team will continue expanding and refining the game, with player feedback helping shape future updates, improvements, and new content.

Expeditions: Samurai Details Its Early Access Plan

Why will Expeditions: Samurai launch in Early Access, one might ask? For the veteran developers at Campfire Cabal, who already created three games in the Expeditions series, Early Access is a reminder of the good old Kickstarter days of Expeditions: Conquistador. Getting in touch with fans and players early will make sure the game shapes up just as the players want it to. Feedback on features, balancing, exploration, stealth, combat, general gameplay, and more will allow the developers to fine-tune Expeditions: Samurai to perfection – because a good blade, like a good game, is forged through many strikes.

Over the course of Early Access for Expeditions: Samurai, three major updates are planned. And while detailed plans are already in place, player feedback will determine what these updates actually deliver and add to the game – so consider this your invitation to help sharpen the blade. If you want to be part of the journey from the very beginning, make sure to join Early Access on August 7th, 2026 and take the first cut at shaping the game’s fate. But if you’re a wait-and-see type of gamer (patience, after all, is a typical virtue for a Samurai), add Expeditions: Samurai to your wishlist or join the Discord server to get every update, sharp and on time.

Your Journey to feudal Japan starts on August 7th, 2026, when Expeditions: Samurai sets sail into Early Access on Steam.
