Dungeonland Screens and Update Details

02_-_handful_of_cards

NEW YORK — April 23, 2013 — Paradox Interactive, a publisher of games and a purchaser of souvenir photos, today released details on the evolution thus far of Dungeonland, the mostly-co-op action title from Critical Studio. Dungeonland, which has received a long list of gameplay tweaks and bizarre adventurer costumes since launch, continues to create DM tricks, silly costumes to force upon players’ hapless avatars, and a horde of behind-the-scenes tweaks on a regular basis. These alterations continue to lure unwary heroes inside the park where they will have so much fun that they won’t realize their best skills have been nerfed until it’s too late.

Dungeonland is a cooperative action game that sends three players to a theme park just for heroic adventurers, surviving relentless hordes of friendly staff and stealing loot from all of the gift shops. Since the game’s launch in early 2013, Dungeonland has been carefully altered and expanded by the Dungeon Maestro and his minions at Critical Studio.

“New language options, cheaper perks, Mimics who won’t bite you more than once each – it’s really amazing how much work goes into keeping my theme park open every day,” said the Dungeon Maestro, director of corporate defenestrations at Paradox Interactive. “I’ve even cut down on some of the grinding, so heroes can have their precious little abilities unlocked sooner. The actual grinder where I put their bodies, though, that part’s still there. I mean, can you imagine? Like I have room for all those corpses in here.”

Strike Suit Infinity Announced

Strikesuit_Infinity_Logo_Final

Guildford, UK, April 23, 2013. — Today, development studio Born Ready Games has announced its latest addition to the Strike Suit universe, Strike Suit Infinity, which will be released for Windows PC on April 30, 2013. Strike Suit Infinity is a wave-based score-chaser that does not require the main game to play. Strike Suit Infinity combines all the combat skills and high-flying maneuvers players will have used in Strike Suit Zero and has been designed to provide endless challenge for competitive players through online leaderboards.

In Strike Suit Infinity, players fight to stay alive as long as possible against a never-ending armada of enemies, with the intention of surviving each round and climbing as high up the leaderboards as possible. Each round is comprised of numerous waves of enemies, which get progressively harder.
In order to reach the top of the leaderboard, players will need to successfully chain their scoring to increase their score multiplier. The multiplier will decay however, so players must maintain rhythm while quickly dispatching enemy ships.

In between rounds, players can use credits earned during combat to purchase reinforcements. Reinforcements range from Interceptors and Fighters all the way up to Cruisers and Frigates – challenging players to make strategic choices to get to the top of the leaderboard.

Strike Suit Infinity will be available via Steam on April 30 for $6.99 USD

Owners of Strike Suit Zero will be excited to learn that Born Ready Games will soon also release theHeroes of the Fleet mission pack DLC for the game. Further details on this pack will follow shortly.

Cloud Imperium Games Opens Santa Monica Office

SANTA MONICA, Calif., April 23, 2013 — Cloud Imperium Games™, led by legendary game designer Chris Roberts, has opened an office in Santa Monica to help create Roberts’ new space sim game, Star Citizen. The game marks Roberts’ return to the gaming industry and has garnered headlines in the last six months by bringing in more money via crowd funding than any other game to date. Cloud Imperium has raised more than $8.6 million since October of 2012 for the development of Star Citizen.

Roberts is best known for creating the hugely popular Wing Commander line of games in the 1990s. Those games sold millions of units worldwide and led to an animated television series, a feature film, a collectible card game and a series of novels and action figures. With Star Citizen Roberts wants to reinvigorate PC gaming and space sims in particular.

The new office in Santa Monica will be part of a distributed development approach for Star Citizen that spans from Montreal to Austin, Texas to the Los Angeles area. “I’m a big believer in utilizing small, very focused development groups,” says Roberts. “Each studio is working on key features of the game. In Santa Monica we’re working on some of the high-end creative elements, the structuring of our game engine and publishing. Other studios are working on technology, game design and production, customer support and web development.

“We couldn’t be more pleased with hanging our shingle up in Santa Monica. It’s an incredibly creative community here already with a lot of game development and art resources all around us. We’re reaching out to fill positions for the new office already.”

The office located in the Third Street Promenade area is 2900 square feet of space. Cloud Imperium plans on staffing with up to 20 people.

Nordic Games Picks Up Darksiders, Titan Quest, Red Faction, Others

Darksiders-Wii-U-feature-featured-image

VIENNA, AUSTRIA (23. April 2013) – Nordic Games announced today that it was one of the successful bidders in THQ´s auction process, which ended on April 15. Subject to approval of the bankruptcy court overseeing THQ’s case, Nordic Games will acquire more than 150 SKUs for a purchasing price of USD 4.9 million spanned across PC, Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony platforms.

This constitutes the biggest acquisition deal in the company history of Nordic Games so far. The acquisition is handled by Nordic Games Licensing AB, based in Karlstad, Sweden, whereas the day-to-day business (sales and distribution of said titles, evaluation of sequels & new content etc.) with the acquired portfolio will be conducted by Nordic Games GmbH, based in Vienna, Austria. The Vienna based business along with its North American sister company, Nordic Games NA Inc. already takes care of the previously acquired JoWooD and DreamCatcher IPs.

“First and foremost we are very happy about this deal which also turns over a new leaf for the entire Nordic Games Group. In the long term, we either want to cooperate with the original creators or best possible developers in order to work on sequels or additional content for these titles” comments Lars Wingefors, owner and CEO of Nordic Games Group AB. “A very important point for us is not to dash into several self-financed multi-million dollar projects right away, but rather to continue our in-depth analysis of all titles and carefully selecting different financing models for developing new instalments of acquired IPs.

“In August 2013, Nordic Games Vienna will have been in business for two very exciting and successful years, and this transaction takes us to new heights and challenges for the years to come” says Klemens Kreuzer, Managing Director at Nordic Games GmbH. “We gradually geared up our company over the years in terms of our overall online and boxed business, our range of platforms, and our headcount. This substantial increase of our games portfolio is the next step to maintain and strengthen our position across a wide range of digital platforms, licencing partners in emerging markets, and in our European and North American core markets” adds Reinhard Pollice, Business and Product Development Director at Nordic Games GmbH.

Nordic Games and THQ expect the US Bankruptcy Court to hear the motion for the sale on May 13, 2013 and to finalize the purchase transactions thereafter.

Nordic Games invites everybody who is interested to visit Nordic Games’ forums and openly discuss on how these titles should be moving forward: http://forum.nordicgames.at/forumdisplay.php?909-Discussion-about-THQ-IPs
