Soviet Dream Machines Event Announced for World of Tanks Console

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS (APRIL 26, 2018) — Award-winning online game developer and publisher Wargaming is thrilled to announce a special month-long Soviet Dream Machines fan-event during May 2018, available exclusively for its free-to-play massively multiplayer armored warfare game World of Tanks on PlayStation®4, Xbox One and Xbox 360. Soviet Dream Machines culminates in the return of the mythical Soviet hero tank, the Motherland, a highly-desirable prize that only the most skilled tank commanders will unlock.

The Soviet Dream Machines event marks the return of the Motherland, a legendary Soviet medium tank that serves as a badge of honor for commanders in World of Tanks Console. Originally one of the first hero tanks introduced to the game, the Motherland has attained almost mythical status and remains a highly sought-after prize to this day. Players will need to work hard, but they can unlock the coveted tank by accumulating 1,000 or more points during the Soviet Dream Machines event.

Beginning on May 1st, players will earn points toward the event whenever they place in one of the top five spots on their team during multiplayer battles. These points can then be redeemed against ten tiers of highly valuable rewards. When a reward has been redeemed, the fun doesn’t end – the points will keep racking up, so players can keep on striving for bigger and better prizes as the month goes on!

In addition to the devastating and justifiably feared Motherland hero tank, fans can unlock the T-29, a new premium tank that excels at unleashing hard-hitting, fast-firing punishment at close-range. It’s joined by the heavyweight KV-220-2, the nimble yet deadly T-50-2, and the explosive ISU-122S, along with a host of other prizes including Silver, XP Boost Op and Premium time.

A trio of additional Premium Hero vehicles will be released throughout the month of May that can help players earn bonus points towards the Soviet Dream Machines event. From May 1st, the devastatingly powerful Guardian STG joins the game, alongside a new hero direct from the pages of Dark Horse Comics: Kraft’s Pz. IV. This Dark Horse Hero comes to the game ahead of the release of World of Tanks: Citadel, a new comic book series from renowned writer Garth Ennis (PreacherThe Punisher) launching on May 9, 2018. A third tank will be announced and added later in the month.

During May, World of Tanks Console is extending the Soviet-themed celebrations past Soviet Dream Machines to a whole host of events that go hand-in-hand with the special month-long prize event. Players will also have the opportunity to hunt down Soviet tanks to earn double Silver Boosts with the Lock On: Soviet Tanks Op. Turning the tables, the Soviet Predators Op allows players to seek and destroy with Soviet vehicles, where taking out 500 enemy tanks will earn them a shiny new Soviet Patriot Medal. Both of these events will run from May 1 to 27 and offer extra incentive to rack up points for Soviet Dream Machines.

Just to put everyone on equal footing, Soviet tech tree vehicles will be available with up to a 50% discount from May 1-9, so there’s no excuse not to join the carnage! Sweetening the experience, players may note that the battle landscape is about to change on May 1st, with the Nomonhan map as new battleground in the map rotation; it is based on the Soviet-Japanese battle of Khalkin Gol, that dramatically changed the course of World War II for the Japanese and served as teaser for what a talented yet relatively unknown Soviet tank officer named Georgy Zhukov was capable of.

Razer Goliathus Chroma Soft Gaming Mouse Mat Review

The Razer Goliathus Chroma soft gaming mouse mat is really interesting because it is the first time I have ever seen a soft mouse pad with lighting elements – Chroma lighting at that. We here at GamingShogun.com spend a lot of time in front of our computers. So when it comes to our equipment we like products that perform how we need them to and have a sense of style. With these criteria, you might not be surprised to find out I have fallen in love with Razer’s Goliathus Chroma soft mouse surface.

Cutting Edge Style:

The first thing once notices when looking at the Razer Goliathus Chroma soft gaming mouse mat is that it has an perimeter line of Razer Chroma lighting that allows for 16.8 million color combinations. This is literally an insane amount of color choices and is mainly just for looks. However, if you’re like me and play in the dark a lot you can smartly use the outer light edge of the Goliathus Chroma to know where the edges of your mouse pad are. Sounds strange, I know, but in the dark this border is very important for situational awareness of where your mouse is on the mat.

The next thing one notices about the Razer Goliathus Chroma soft mat is that it feels almost like a felt material. The surface doesn’t have a lot of “give”, but the cloth is micro-textured to help make it responsive with any kind of settings or sensors your mouse happens to have.  Many gaming mice allow you to change sensitivity on the fly and the cloth surface on this pad will make it respond with whatever you settle on.  The surface is extremely versatile and worked great with the few mice I tried on it. This versatility means that you won’t have to worry about getting some specialized mousing surface every time you buy a new mouse.

The bottom of the Razer Goliathus Chroma  has non-slip rubber material which means your mouse pad won’t go sliding around your desktop. On the top edge of the pad, there is a cable minder so you can run your mouse cord through it and not worry about extra mouse cord slack getting in the way.

One of the last benefits is that the pad has inter-device color synchronization between all your Chroma-enabled Razer devices. This means that you can have all of them change colors at the same time. Furthermore, if you have it set to change lighting schemes when a certain events happen in games like StarCraft II, it can help you increase your situational awareness by color and intensity alone. Is your base under attack? Have the peripherals all flash red, etc.

The only single complaint I think I have is it would be nice if it came with some Razer trademarks or designs on the mat’s surface. While that might be totally unnecessary on a performance level, the “Cult Of Razer” is made up of a proud bunch of gamers that like to show their branding.

More Than Another Mouse Pad:

The Razer Goliathus Chroma soft gaming mouse mat is one of the most well-constructed mousing surfaces I have ever worked with both physically and aesthetically. It could have shown off its Razer brand a little more but when it is changing colors in-sync with the rest of the Chroma Razer gear, it will be obvious it belongs. Also, the Goliathus Chroma retails for a very reasonable $39.99 at most online retailers, which makes it super affordable given its capabilities.

Dreadnought PC Open Beta Gets New Game Mode

HOUSTON and BERLIN – April 26, 2018 – Six Foot and independent developer YAGER have released a new content update for the free Windows PC open beta of Dreadnought, the class-based spaceship action game, introducing a new, objective-based game mode: Conquest. Still in development but available now as a playable preview, Conquest pits two teams against one another, battling to capture and defend control points through careful positioning and dominance around the map.

Dreadnought’s unique spin on this classic game type is territory linking, which encourages higher level strategy for offensive and defensive fleet formations and tactics. Territory in Conquest isn’t fixed – it shifts in real time with the movements of players’ ships, as well as the control points they hold. Ships generate their own areas of influence, but when allies move close to one another or a control point, their territories will link and expand. But links can be severed if an enemy player intersects between linked points, flips a control point, or kills a linked player’s vessel, pushing the tide of battle back and forth with every moment.

Dreadnought puts players in the captain’s chair of massive capital ships on the front lines of competitive team-based battles across a variety of multiplayer game modes. There are more than 50 playable vessels to master, each customizable with an array of weapons, modules, coatings and decals. Five distinct ship classes, specializing in tactical roles like frontline assault, long-range bombardment, strategic support and more, offer captains unique powers to exploit the enemy team’s weaknesses and claim victory.

Dreadnought is in free open beta on Windows PC and will arrive on Steam later this fall. It is also free to download on the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system. For the latest updates, visit www.dreadnought.com, and follow the game on FacebookTwitter and Twitch.

Black Market Escape Rooms MURDERCO Review

Jon Cooke, who was previously a designer behind some very memorable Knott’s Scary Farm mazes, has branched out on his own to create Black Market Escape Rooms. Located at a warehouse in Upland, CA, Black Market Escape Rooms features more intense, R-rated escape room challenges. The first of these challenges is called MURDERCO. The premise behind MURDERCO is that you are new members of an exclusive organization, the aforementioned “MurderCo”. This organization’s members pay for the “honor” of seeing human beings masterfully-extinguished by various “artists” (read: Murderous people). Things, of course, don’t go as planned, and you will have an hour to escape the MURDERCO.

We walked up to the inconspicuous Upland, CA warehouse and were pleasantly surprised to find no bright signage, etc. Just a hand-written note on the door stating “Wait Outside!” was welcoming us to the location – the whole thing just looks creepy. Now, there is some branding on the warehouse – so you know you are in the right place, they just don’t go out of their way to draw attention to the facility. It all felt very underground and industrial – the way I had hoped it would. When our appointment time struck, the door opened and a menacing figure ordered us inside. In this initial waiting room, the rules of the experience were laid out to us, we were allowed to use a restroom, and we were instructed to put our affects into lockers for safe keeping. Then, our group was allowed to choose the “artist” (read: Murderer) that we would get to see kill someone. We chose an individual named the “Juggernaut”, and then proceeded inside…..

The escape room category is thoroughly saturated – at least, here in Southern California. So, it is vital that escape rooms offer something unique for people to grab onto – otherwise, escape rooms can get lost in the crowd. Thankfully, MURDERCO offers some seriously cool things that you won’t find in many other escape rooms. The biggest thing that separates Black Market Escape Rooms’ MURDERCO from the rest of the pack are its theatrical elements. Even the artists have their own characterizations and ours, Juggernaut, gave a great performance. Unlike most escape rooms, in MURDERCO you will interact with several NPCs (Non-Player Characters) throughout the course of your experience. Some of these NPCs might be good, many are most definitely evil. There is no “help line” in this experience, so I would recommend keeping your ears open as sometimes an NPC might drop a valuable hint to help keep you and your crew alive.

MURDERCO is touted as an R-rated experience, and persons under 18 years of age are not allowed into the experience. This is with good reason as, throughout the whole thing, you will be subjected to harsh language, some adult material, and some mild grabbing by the NPCs. This may sound daunting to those who avoid “extreme haunts” and the like, but don’t fret. While these things are included in the MURDERCO experience, it is more of a light smattering rather than a drenching in R-rated subject matter. It’s just enough to up the intensity while not so much that it detracts from the fun of the escape room puzzles.

MURDERCO’s escape room puzzle elements provided a decent challenge at times, although it is certainly not the most difficult escape room we have been through. We had nine minutes left on the clock when we escaped, and we are a group of pretty experienced escape room challengers. There is a maximum party size of eight people in any one game, although we found that amount was a bit too much. The rooms of the MURDERCO can be cramped at times and the puzzles localized at points so that it left a few people in our party of eight with nothing to do aside from watch in the periphery. I would say five people would be a perfect amount for the MURDERCO. Please note that there are some physical challenges and obstacles to overcome in the MURDERCO, so wear comfortable clothing.

Another big part of the Black Market Escape Rooms’ MURDERCO is its roots in the haunted attraction industry. These scary elements, from pop out scares by NPCs to gory props and imagery, all add to the feeling of dread. Will your group escape? What happens if you don’t? These scary elements spice up the experience and even veteran escape room challengers will see some stuff here that they never have before in other escape rooms. Even better – the gore work here is all dry, so you won’t have to worry about ruining your clothes after leaving. The overall set design and prop work in the MURDERCO is excellent and I loved the detail that went into each area of the experience. The folks at Black Market Escape Rooms should feel extremely proud of their accomplishment – MURDERCO is really something you shouldn’t miss.

We lived!

MURDERCO is part haunted house, part escape room, and part interactive theatre. It skillfully-blends these attributes into an incredibly-fun escape room experience that is most certainly geared towards adults. MURDERCO runs Thursdays through Sundays and tickets cost $45 dollars each. You can find out more about MURDERCO and Black Market Escape Rooms over at their official website.

Star Wars Resistance Animated Series Announced

April 26, 2018 – This fall, welcome to the Resistance! StarWars.com is thrilled to announce that production has begun on Star Wars Resistance, an exciting new animated adventure series about Kazuda Xiono, a young pilot recruited by the Resistance and tasked with a top-secret mission to spy on the growing threat of the First Order. It will premiere this fall on Disney Channel in the U.S. and thereafter, on Disney XD and around the world.

Featuring the high-flying adventure that audiences of all ages have come to expect from Star Wars, Star Wars Resistance — set in the time prior to Star Wars: The Force Awakens — will feature the beloved droid BB-8 alongside ace pilots, colorful new characters and appearances by fan favorites including Poe Dameron and Captain Phasma, voiced by actors Oscar Isaac and Gwendoline Christie, respectively.

The series was created by renowned Lucasfilm Animation veteran Dave Filoni (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels); executive-produced by Athena Portillo (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels), Justin Ridge (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels) and Brandon Auman (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles); and art-directed by Amy Beth Christenson (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels).

“The idea for Star Wars Resistance came out of my interest in World War II aircraft and fighter pilots” said Filoni. “My grandfather was a pilot and my uncle flew and restored planes, so that’s been a big influence on me. There’s a long history of high-speed racing in Star Wars, and I think we’ve captured that sense of excitement in an anime-inspired style, which is something the entire team has been wanting to do for a long time.”

Marc Buhaj, senior vice president, Programming and general manager, Disney XD, said, “Our colleagues at Lucasfilm have created a compelling narrative for an untold moment in the Star Wars galaxy, and we are excited to partner with them again on this new original series. Star Wars Resistance will bring viewers across generations an engaging story with heart, humor and both new and familiar characters.”

In addition to Isaac and Christie, the voice cast includes actors Christopher Sean (Days of Our Lives), Suzie McGrath (East Enders), Scott Lawrence (Legion), Myrna Velasco (Elena of Avalor), Josh Brener (Silicon Valley), Donald Faison (Scrubs), Bobby Moynihan (DuckTales), Jim Rash (Community), and Rachel Butera (Tammy’s Tiny Tea Time).
