TRON Legacy Characters Now in Disney Infinity 2.0 Edition

February 5, 2015 — Disney Interactive announced the final two characters for the Disney Infinity (2.0 Edition) line up – Tron’s Sam Flynn and Quorra. The characters are now available as digital exclusives for Disney Infinity (2.0 Edition) via the Disney Infinity: Toy Box 2.0 iOS app for $2.99 each, and will be available for PC in March 2015. Both will join all of the previously announced Disney and Marvel characters in the Toy Box mode.

“The iOS version of Disney Infinity has always attracted our largest audience, so we wanted to do something special to celebrate its launch. I can’t think of a more appropriate digital exclusive than Sam Flynn and Quorra from Tron,” said John Vignocchi, Vice President of Production, Disney Infinity.

One thing about CES, there is a phone case for every style and need. I try to time my phone upgrades to right before the big show so that I can find the cases that will get me through the following year. Things that need to be taken into consideration are the fact that I have no hips. Seriously – medical FACT! So, if a phone is too heavy, my pants will try to fall off. To make matters worse, I am a klutz and there is a decent chance that at any time I take out my phone it will fall to the ground, especially if I am near stairs or an escalator. I also am rough on my wallets and have been known to break them. Yes, I can break a leather wallet, it is a talent I discovered when I was fairly young (ed. note: Call Guinness!). I mention all this because any phone case I select must be able to put up with ME. One of my newest in my rotation is the Speck CandyShell CARD.

Hands On:
The biggest feature of the Speck CandyShell CARD is the wallet “nest” built into the shell of the impact resistant case. The wallet nest is designed for three credit cards and a little cash and, thanks to a rubber lining, keeps the cards safe and in place during regular use as well as dropping. There is a small section for your finger to push the cards and cash out the slot which makes it easy to grab on an otherwise slide resistant surface.

This was a key worry for me because the design of most pockets develop a looseness overtime and tend to send your money and cards falling at even the slightest of drops. I have dropped it by accident a few times – a couple times on purpose to make sure everything stayed put and still functioned and had zero problems. The fact that it only holds three cards could be a deterrent to some but I found I still carry a wallet and just put my three most used cards: driver’s license, debit and local casino card in the card holder and my main wallet doesn’t come out of my pocket for days.

The shell design in itself lends to impact resistance though it tend to increase the profile of the phone. It definitely does in this case but the accommodation of the wallet helps make the space seem less of an issue. Like with many hard shell cases there are two layers one designed for impact and a second designed for shock absorption. The CandyShell is particularly well designed this way with the rubber absorption layer coming through at the corners to reduce show and prevent too much scratching on the shell. It meets or exceeds military standards which are actually surprisingly low unless you go by a military grading system rather than just a standard. Like I said before though I have dropped this several times onto hard and unforgiving surfaces and it has held up excellently.

Shell scratching is definitely a concern, I found it holds up from nasty scratches during falls but if you keep your keys in the same pocket you are liable to get some decent scrapes which show up pretty clearly on the black shell. Smudging is also a problem but using something as easy as your shirt can take care of those.

Last Call:
Speck has made a very nice case with solid construction with a great card wallet feature that makes the hard shell a feature rather than a possible deterrent. I would recommend it to anyone who is klutzy and lives most of their life using just a couple of cards.

New Studio Announces 4X Game Galactic Inheritors

Montreal, Canada (February 4, 2015) – Indie developer Crispon Games, founded by strategy game veterans Chris King and Pontus Åberg, and publisher Argonauts Interactive today announce that 4X (eXplore, eXpand, eXploit and eXterminate) space strategy game Galactic Inheritors will release for Windows PC on Steam’s Early Access on February 10, 2015.

Galactic Inheritors is the brainchild of former Paradox Interactive designers and strategy game veterans Chris King and Pontus Åberg. The game is a culmination of over a decade of experience developing award-winning strategy titles and their combined love for science fiction. King and Åberg helped craft such fan-loved titles Hearts of Iron, Victoria, Europa Universalis, and Crusader Kings during their time at Paradox Interactive. With the foundation of Crispon Games as independent studio, both King and Åberg aim to create the type of games they’re most passionate about, starting with Galactic Inheritors.

“When I left Paradox Interactive, I set out to create the game I always dreamed of making,” said Chris King, co-founder of Crispon Games and lead designer ofGalactic Inheritors. “We would sit around, talking about turning certain game ideas into actual games, but some never made it past the idea stage. I very much enjoyed my time at Paradox and am proud of the great games we made there. However, I deeply felt Galactic Inheritors is a game I needed to make, and make outside the constraints of a bigger studio. I knew I would deeply regret not taking the chance to make it happen.”

Galactic Inheritors returns to the roots of classic 4X games, taking the genre to a bold new frontier that offers a strong science fiction mythos grounded in reality, with deep strategy gameplay aimed at hardcore gamers. Players will explore a vast and diverse galaxy as leader of a budding galactic empire, eager to expand their influence and exterminate those that would oppose them.

The colonization of alien worlds allows players to fortify the infrastructure of their empire. Those that oppose can be destroyed by force or subdued through clever manipulation. In Galactic Inheritors, it’s up to players to employ masterful strategies, comprised of a wide range of tactical elements, with the ultimate goal of conquering the galaxy by any means necessary.

Grey Box and YAGER have released a new video showing off some gameplay from their upcoming Dreadnought. The ten-and-a-half-minute 5v5 Team Deathmatch featured takes place on Dreadnought’s glacier map, playable for the first time at PAX South. It showcases two new ships: the Light Destroyer (assault) and the Light Tactical Cruiser (support), which can repair friendly ships and attack enemies. You can also spot the Artillery Cruiser (sniper), Corvette (scout) and Dreadnought (heavy) in the battle.

Use the map-based scorestreak to activate the lights, music, and magic of the clown marquee and rain down a barrage of rainbow smoke-trailed cannonballs.

Drift: An idyllic ski resort high in the Rocky Mountains is transformed into a festive high-altitude playground, perfect for an all-out firefight. Make your way to the highly contested over watch in the glass observation deck or take a ride on the carousel to deliver 360 degrees of carnage. Players can use the map-altering timed event to their advantage as an avalanche of snow and debris disorients players, intensifying the battle.

Havoc includes a new cooperative experience, Exo Zombies.
