New Kartuga Info Revealed, Video Released

Kartuga_Area_Empire

Hamburg, January 17, 2013. InnoGames just released new information about the pirate action game, Kartuga, as the closed beta nears; the distinct worlds of the game, Ithosia, Kartu and the Empire of the Sun, all differ visually. While Ithosia is reminiscent of the Mediterranean, Kartu plays with Mayan influences, and The Empire is inspired by the Orient. InnoGames also released a video featuring these various locals.

The kingdoms are not historical replicas – fantasy elements and nautical legends are woven into each area to make them truly unique. InnoGames made a conscious decision to steer clear of typical pirate stereotypes when designing the backdrops. “We want to show that the wonderful world of pirates can be more diverse than what is out there now. Players can expect a lot of visual variety from Kartuga,” says Game Designer Philipp Arlt. The kingdoms are further divided into several sectors – where either PVP missions are played or PVE quests are available. Kartuga is starting out with nine sectors to be explored.

Kartuga is an Action-MMO with RPG-elements, designed in Unity 3D. At the core of the game, developed by Ticking Bomb Games, is cooperative PvP.  Closed beta will begin in the coming weeks. Players can already preregister at www.kartuga.com.

With more than 100 million registered players, InnoGames is one of the world’s leading developers and providers of online games. The Hamburg-based company has scored major successes with games such as Tribal WarsForge of Empires and Grepolis.

Positech Games Announces Democracy 3

Positech Games is today announcing that their next game will be a sequel to their popular and unique political strategy game Democracy 2.  In a sudden flash of revolutionary inspiration, the new game will be called…
Democracy 3.

A lot has changed in the world of politics since Positech first suffered the mental anguish of programming Democracy 2. We have had a global credit crunch and financial crisis, the occupy movement, the Arab spring, and mobile phones have got slightly smaller, then larger again.
Democracy 3 will be a massively improved and updated version of the game that will reflect changes in both gaming tastes and the world of politics. Despite sharing the basic GUI design of earlier games in the series, Democracy 3 is being built on a complete ground-up re-engineering of the custom-built neural network engine used to power the complex simulation beneath the hood of the game. Improvements will be equal parts graphical and simulation based, with greater freedom to use both private/free market solutions to problems as well as more accurate simulation of financial markets, voter cynicism and much more.
The ship date for the game is currently set as ‘2013’. (We would make a more precise prediction but it would be about as reliable as a government budget forecast).
You will be pleased to know that developer cliff harris finally decided not to change his name to ‘fiscal cliff’ as a PR stunt.
More details to come over the next few months and also at www.cliffski.com. In the meantime, political animals can feast upon the political goodness of Democracy 2 at www.positech.co.uk/democracy2 or grab the existing game from steam at http://store.steampowered.com/app/218040/

Genius Announces the Gila Professional Gaming Mouse

205d60537f3d2204edcc9e0188619d35

January 17, 2013, Chino, California – Genius today announces the Gila professional gaming mouse, a 2013 CES Innovations Award Honoree, to the North American market. Offering unparalleled precision and comfort, the Genius GX Gaming Series Gila is the ultimate configurable gaming mouse.

With the 12-button Gila almost every aspect can be tweaked according to gamers’ preferences: on-the-fly dpi changes, weight, LED brightness, pulsation and color as well as macros for a personalized playing style.

Precision Control with Sniper Mode and On-The-Fly Adjustable Dpi: 200 to 8200

The Gila packs features for gamers that need to excel. For situations that require pixel perfect precision “Sniper Mode” slows down mouse movements to a dpi of your choice by simply holding down the assigned button.

Genius’ GX Gaming Series Gila lets gamers switch among 5 different previously assigned dpi levels directly from the mouse for precision targeting (200 dpi) to lightning fast movements (8200 dpi). Adding Gila’s 1 ms response time to aid in situations that require quick twitch reactions, this GX Series mouse is capable of keeping up with any gaming scenario.

Personalized Weight Tuning

Customize the weight of the Gila however you prefer. A maximum of six 4.5 gram weights can be added to a compartment in the underside for sturdiness or no weights can be used at all for unburdened lightweight movement.

Unique LED Customization Options

Offering unique aesthetic customization options, the Gila has three LED backlights that can be independently tuned to the colors, degrees of brightness and pulsation style of your choice. With 16 million color options to choose from your Gila will be uniquely yours.

Macros & Button Assignments

Simplify the complicated controls of modern games by assigning them to any of the twelve buttons on the Gila. The Scorpion UI lets you set up to 72 macros, giving you a competitive edge in the heat of battle. The macros saved on the on-board memory and CPU of the Gila means that macro-blocks in games won’t be able to stop you from using your macros. At LAN parties or competitions no time is lost tweaking exactly how you like to play.

Comfortable Grip & Connectivity

The Genius Gila not only gives you personalized control when hunting down your foes, but also provides a smooth, stable connection with a comfortable design. The non-slick rubber coating ensures a firm and comfortable grip when moving the mouse violently back and forth. Additionally, the 1.8 meter durable braided cable with an anti-corrosive gold-plated USB jack ensures long-lasting, high quality connections.

The GX Gaming Series Gila is now available in the US and Canada for the suggested retail price of US$99.99.

DCS World – An Overview (approx. 32min)

Official Description of DCS World

Digital Combat Simulator World (DCS World) is a free-to-play digital battlefield game, focusing on a military aircraft simulation. It includes a FREE Su-25T attack aircraft and it is extensible through additional DCS modules as well as user-made add-ons and mods.

DCS World includes a vast mission area of the Caucasus region that encompasses much of Georgia – the location of the 2008 conflict. Additionally, DCS World includes:

  • Powerful mission and campaign editors
  • Multiplayer
  • Massive inventory of air, land and sea combat units and weapons
  • Advanced AI
  • Fast mission generator
  • Dynamic weather and seasons
  • Training missions
  • Mission replay system
  • Pilot log book

This all allows the creation of engaging, real-world combat missions in this flashpoint region. DCS is a true “sandbox” simulation that can and will cover multiple time periods covering many types of combat and civilian units. DCS World allows both realistic game play and more relaxed game play to suit the player.

DCS modules that can plug into DCS World can include aircraft, maps, ground units, campaigns, etc. Not only can DCS World include modules developed internally by Eagle Dynamics, but it can also include those by our partners.

DCS World includes a FREE Su-25T “Frogfoot” attack aircraft!

Other modules that can be purchased for DCS World include:

DCS: A-10C Warthog. Warthog brings the most realistic PC simulation of a modern fixed wing combat aircraft in regards to flight dynamics, avionics, sensors, and weapon systems. Warthog is considered by many to be the current bench mark of PC flight simulation.

DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark 2. The Ka-50 “Black Shark” is a unique and deadly single-seat, Russian attack helicopter that has seen combat in the Northern Caucasus. It combines a high performance dual rotor system with a deadly weapons payload of guided missiles, rockets, bombs, and a 30mm cannon.

DCS: P-51D Mustang. The most realistic simulation ever done of this legendary World War 2 era fighter.

DCS: Combined Arms. DCS: Combined Arms gives you control of ground forces during the battle. Use the Command Map to move ground forces, set artillery fire missions, and control the ground battle. Assume the role of a Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC) in multiplayer and designate targets for player-controlled close air support aircraft, or directly control armor vehicles or air defense weapons and engage the enemy.
