World of Warships Halloween Event Announced

October 24, 2017 — One year ago, commanders banded together to banish terror from the high seas when the sinister Rasputin and its Zikasa hordes attempted to take over World of Warships. While brave captains sent these terrors back whence they came, little did the community know that, all this time, Rasputin had been plotting his return…To save the day this Halloween, players must fight the war for the living.

From Update 0.6.12.1, where there is darkness, there can also be light. And the second mission, Sunray in the Darkness, sees Transylvania return for another tour. Commanders once again head back to the Silver Spear Archipelago, sinking the forces of darkness in four brand-new Halloween ships.

Destroyer Urashima with commander Mina Hurray, cruiser Svyatozar with commander Ivan K. Ulibin, battleship Magnu-S with commander Klaus V. Teslau, and aircraft carrier Nobilium with commander Lazarus Centurio will be there to aid players in their fight. Each new vessel in your Port is also equipped with a unique consumable that does not only affect you but the enemy, too. Take them for a ride and see which one is best at destroying hordes of enemy vessels.

This time, guard towers will be lending their help as you attempt to protect them and ensure the portal to the other side is sealed once and for all—while enemy forces pour out and a sinister, debilitating fog slowly spreads across the waters. While this fog reduces a ship’s HP, spotting and detectability, it heals enemy ships, meaning players must sink their foes on the double. The task at hand is to save the towers, defeat Rasputin and a new threat, the Gorgon, and eliminate all enemies to save Transylvania.

For successfully pulling off your mission and completing special objectives, commanders receive a certain number of stars which, along with generating a rank, unlock awesome rewards. With special Halloween camo, tons of Free XP, Premium Account time, and loads of other treats up for grabs, players would have to be seriously spooked to miss out on this ghastly event.

Gears of War 4 – Xbox One X Enhanced Trailer

October 23, 2017 – We’re excited to share how “Gears of War 4” has been enhanced for the Xbox One X. Our new trailer showcases the wealth of graphical and gameplay enhancements that are only possible with the world’s most powerful console. We’re also excited to finally reveal the Preferred Rendering mode so you can play “Gears of War 4” how you want! Full details and assets on Xbox Wire.

True 4K Experience
Get ready to experience unmatched clarity, richness and details with true 4K visuals (3840×2160) in our Visuals Rendering Mode. Even if you’re playing on a 1080p screen, you’ll instantly notice the difference thanks to a 4K super sampled image that brings you a crisper, richer looking “Gears” game than you’ve ever seen before.

HDR
High Dynamic Range provides increased contrast between lights and darks. Battling your way through a lightning flurry in a windflare has never looked better. “Gears of War 4” on Xbox One X supports a wide color gamut for true-to-color definition – just as the artists intended – and now at 4K resolution.

Up to 60FPS For Ultra Smooth Gameplay

We’re excited to announce Xbox One X owners will have two Preferred Rendering Options to choose from in “Gears of War 4” – Visuals and Performance!

Performance

Put framerate first. For the first time ever, “Gears of War” will play at up to 60fps in 1080p in Campaign and Horde – all including higher resolution textures and some of the new enhanced graphical features available in Visuals mode.

Visuals

Push graphical fidelity to the max. This mode uses Ultra Quality Textures, a wealth of new and improved graphical features all at 4K resolution (3840×2160) thanks to the power of Xbox One X. You’ll experience the same frame rates you’ve come to expect from “Gears of War 4” – 30fps for Campaign and Horde .

In both Rendering modes, Versus will run at a rock-solid 4K 60FPS (with adaptive resolution scaling).

Dolby Atmos Audio Support

When playing “Gears of War 4” on Xbox One, we now offer Dolby Atmos, which gives you immersive, moving audio.

The Dolby Access app lets you set up your Dolby Atmos enabled home theater, TV, or sound bar for free, and lets you try or buy Dolby Atmos for Headphones, which gives you immersive sound on any headphones. Experience the visceral sounds of “Gears of War” in a way that will make you feel like you’re inside the action, only on Xbox One.

Our Most Immersive World Thanks To New Features

The world of Sera has never been more immersive thanks to brand new features and higher resolution textures – all possible with the additional horsepower and memory offered by the Xbox One X.

Enhanced Light Shafts
Also known as God Rays, Enhanced Light Shafts provide true-to-life beams of sunlight in the world. Prepare for jaw dropping lighting as the God Rays peek through gaps in the canopy of trees above you, or in sunset conditions peeking through buildings and statues.

Dynamic Shadows
Shadows in “Gears of War 4” are usually pre-defined by an artist to accurately reflect the shadows objects in the world would cast based on the lighting. On Xbox One X, dynamic shadows now react true to the lighting conditions and movement of objects – for example, trees blowing in the wind will cast an accurate moving shadow on the ground – bringing the world of Sera to life like never before.

Increased Draw Distances
With the power of Xbox One X, we can maintain higher resolution textures at a further distance than ever before – creating a higher fidelity picture and crisper world around you, even on the horizon.

Superior Reflections
We’ve pushed our surface space reflections even further to look closer to as you would expect in real life. Reflective surfaces now have a higher definition reflection of your character – whether that’s in a mirror-like reflection of water, or the muddied color reflective nature of metal. It looks especially awesome on the DeeBee’s metallic armor!

Enhanced Character Textures
With our higher resolution textures now available on console thanks to Xbox One X, characters show more detail from head to toe. They’ve never looked better!

Experience this all at no extra cost for “Gears of War 4” owners when you pick up your Xbox One X. And, if you’re picking up the Xbox One X but haven’t jumped in to “Gears of War 4” yet, you can try it FREE now with our 10-hour trial – the perfect showcase piece for your new super-powered console.

We’re incredibly proud of what the team has been able to achieve on Xbox One X so far. We can’t wait to see you all experience this feast for your eyeballs!

Funcom’s Hide and Shriek Now Free to Play

OSLO, Norway – October 20th, 2017 – It’s that time of year again and people everywhere are deviously trying to figure out how to scare their friends, family, and neighbors in the cleverest ways possible. Maybe you want to expand this diabolical plan to include online strangers, and that’s where Hide and Shriek™ comes in! Funcom is excited to announce that the one-vs-one match-based multiplayer scare ‘em up is now free to play on Steam. Released during Halloween last year, the game quickly become a big hit among streamers and other content creators looking to spread a bit of horror among their viewers.

Today, Funcom also released a brand-new trailer for Hide and Shriek to celebrate going free to play.

Hide and Shriek was an experimental game for Funcom,” says Executive Producer Scott Junior. “It was a smaller-scale project that allowed our North Carolina studio to get to grips with the Unreal Engine, but it also became quite a hit among the players who jumped in when we released it during last year’s Halloween. Our hope is that by now going free to play there will be many more gamers to play with, making it easier to quickly find and get into one-vs-one multiplayer matches.”

Hide and Shriek is a one vs. one multiplayer game where players collect points and scare the other player using spells, traps, and jump scares. Players can summon dark demons, set up elaborate traps, and jump out of clever hiding places to scare each other senseless. The catch is that you are both invisible, and to find and scare the other player you must first observe telltale signs such as doors opening or objects moving, or even trick them into traps that will reveal their position.

Hide and Shriek is available now on Steam, free to play, and it is fully localized to German, French, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Polish, Korean, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese languages. For more information, please visit www.hideandshriekgame.com.

The Endless March Comes to For Honor

SAN FRANCISCO — October 19, 2017 — Today, Ubisoft announced that For Honor® will run a special seasonal event, Feast of the Otherworld, across all platforms from October 19 to November 2. This new event will bring a haunting variation of the 4v4 Dominion mode, where skeletons have taken over the battlefield. Players will also be able to loot exclusive Halloween-themed cosmetics during the event, including mood effects, emotes and ornaments.

The addition of unique Endless March mode introduces a new set of rules for the 4v4 Dominion mode, which challenges players to adapt their strategies to take down the opposing team. In Endless March, soldiers appear as skeletons and deal brutal damage. Conquering zones will only yield temporary points; the only sources of permanent points available to players come from killing soldiers and enemy players. As with Dominion, players must reach 1000 points and defeat all four enemy players in order to win the game.

The Feast of the Otherworld brings players new Halloween-themed rewards. Players can customize each of their Heroes with new mythic outfits that include all-new masks, which transform players into ghoulish versions of themselves. Additional For Honor weekly content released during this time will have a special Halloween flavor to celebrate the limited-time event.

Developed by Ubisoft Montreal in collaboration with other Ubisoft studios,* For Honor offers an engaging campaign and thrilling multiplayer modes. Players embody warriors of the three Great Factions – the bold Knights, the brutal Vikings and the deadly Samurai – fighting to the death on intense and believable melee battlefields. The Art of Battle, the game’s innovative combat system that puts players in total control of their warriors, allows them to utilize the unique skills and combat style of each hero to vanquish all enemies who stand in their way. For Honor will continue to grow and improve with a new season launching in November, alongside plans to introduce dedicated servers further down the development schedule.

George A. Romero Tribute Announced for Dying Light

October 19th, 2017 – Wroclaw, Poland / Techland is proud to unveil a special commemorative mural to the Father of Zombies, George A. Romero, in Dying Light. The tribute has received the full backing of the iconic director’s son, George Cameron Romero.

Techland has also released a short video in which a horde of the undead puts their flesh-cravings aside to salute the man who invented the zombie genre of cinema and inspired generations of future horror auteurs — including Techland’s own Dying Light team.

Players can visit the graffiti-style mural in the area around Jaffar’s Workshop and pay their respects, as the art was added to the game on Monday as part of the Content Drop #1 update.

George A. Romero’s son, George Cameron Romero, said of the tribute:

“When members of Techland reached out to me asking if I would be ok with them paying homage to my father in their game “Dying Light,” I was honored as I’m a massive fan of the game and I love the graffiti work they do! What a beautiful way to give his fans a lasting tribute on a wall that won’t get painted over. I hope everyone who is a fan of his, or mine, will have fun looking for the George A. Romero commemorative mural in the game and I hope everyone out there remembers that he was once called the most dangerous filmmaker alive, #filmsusedtobedangerous and thanks to him I will never forget that #filmisfearless.”

Considered by many to be one of the most important independent filmmakers of all time, Romero’s back catalogue of gruesome and satirical horror films includes: Night of the Living DeadDawn of the Dead and Day of the Dead.

Witch Hunt PvP Halloween Mode Announced for Crossout

Thursday, October 19, 2017 — The Halloween season kicks off today in Crossout, the post-apocalyptic Action MMO from Targem Games and Gaijin Entertainment. From October 19 through November 9, players will be able to wage battle on the all-new night map Sector EX, compete in the new ‘Witch Hunt’ PvP mode, and earn ‘Hazardous Sweets’ that can be traded for exclusive seasonal vehicle decor.

In ‘Witch Hunt’, players have to attain festive Halloween Pumpalloons and keep them in their possession for as long as possible. All participants are equipped with an identical, unarmed vehicle and can steal the Pumpalloons by ramming the current possessor. Even without conventional weaponry, ‘Witch Hunt’ is anything but peaceful. All vehicles come equipped with six powerful Jet Boosters that provide an explosive burst of speed to ram your opponent when attempting to loosen an opponent’s grip on the precious Pumpalloons. There is no reason to hold back – in this mode, respawns with new vehicles are unlimited.

Halloween also brings with it the first night map added to Crossout – Sector EX – where survivors fight for control over an abandoned industrial complex located at the center of the map. While the defenders will be able to take positions on multiple floors of the complex, attackers can find their way inside through a maze of corridors and driveways. With darkness limiting the view, combat on Sector EX gets up close and personal – even for heavy trucks with long-range armament.

During the next three weeks, victories in all Crossout PvP modes and the completion of daily tasks will earn players an extra reward in the form of ‘Hazardous Sweets’. While not fit for human consumption, they are useful to craft ‘Fright Containers’ through which survivors can obtain exclusive decorative items for their vehicles, as well as paints, car horns and player avatars. Those survivors that place no importance on appearance can, of course, sell the ‘Hazardous Sweets’ for profit on the market.

More information about the new mode and the other Halloween specials are available on the official Crossout website here: https://crossout.net/
