Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days – PC Gaming Show Teaser 2024

PikPok’s Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days, the shelter survival game set in a zombie-infested Texas city, offers a new glimpse of its harrowing vision of an undead outbreak in yesterday’s PC Gaming Show with a new gameplay teaser. The game forms part of the Into the Dead franchise, which has more than 150 million downloads. Survivors intent on overcoming and escaping the zombie plague can prepare with a playable demo on Steam, available in October 2024.

As the undead overrun Walton, Texas, in the summer of 1980, desperate survivors band together in hopes of staying alive long enough to escape the city.

Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days’ PC Gaming Show teaser showcases three cornerstones of the game: planning, adapting, and surviving. Scavenge various locations for valuable materials, carefully avoiding zombies in heavily infected areas. Balance the needs and well-being of each survivor, and upgrade meager shelters with fortifications and amenities to make it through the night before selecting new locations to explore the following day.

As time passes, Walton City’s undead inhabitants spread like the plague, requiring flexibility and adaptability. Utilize resources to craft weapons and tools to face down zombies, and move shelters frequently to stay relatively safe. Make difficult choices that affect the group’s morale, welcome newcomers, or prey on trusting survivors when supplies become scarce. Adjust to evolving escape plans as you navigate difficult in-game decisions, survivor permadeath, and the ever-present threat of encroaching zombies.

“Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days blends survival horror-inspired gameplay with challenging management elements where every decision counts,” said Mario Wynands, CEO of PikPok. “We’re thrilled to showcase a small slice of what to expect at the PC Gaming Show before our first public playable demo in October 2024.”

Into The Dead: Our Darkest Days will launch on PC via Steam Early Access in 2025, with a playable demo coming in October 2024. For more information about Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days, visit the official website and follow the game on TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter/X.

Nightdive Studios Unveils The Thing: Remastered

Nightdive Studios — renowned video game remaster developer and subsidiary of Atari®, one of the world’s most iconic consumer brands and interactive entertainment producers — announced a gruesome return to the chilling setting of one of the most influential horror films of all time with The Thing: Remastered. Created in collaboration with Universal Products & Experiences, Nightdive Studios will release The Thing: Remastered digitally on Windows PC via Steam, PlayStation® 4|5, Xbox One and Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch later this year.

Where the film ends, a new terror begins.

The Thing: Remastered is a faithful restoration of the cult-classic 2002 third-person survival horror shooter game inspired by Universal Pictures’ genre-defining 1982 film, The Thing. Nightdive Studios has upgraded this horrifying classic for the modern era through its proprietary KEX Engine for play on current-generation gaming devices up to a 4K resolution at 120FPS. Improvements to character models, textures, and animations have been hand-crafted by Nightdive Studios, with the implementation of advanced 3D rendering for updated lighting and atmospheric effects — for a suspenseful and disgustingly detailed remaster that reanimates the thrilling game for modern audiences.

“Many of us at Nightdive Studios are ardent fans of the horror genre, so it’s been an incredible honor to work within the world of the iconic The Thing,” said Larry Kuperman, Nightdive Studios’ Director of Business Development. “The 1982 film is a masterpiece and truly one of the most impactful pieces of art in the horror genre. With The Thing: Remastered, we’re honoring that legacy and Computer Artworks’ incredible game inspired by the story that further expanded the lore.”

In the frozen arctic tundra, a mysterious shape-shifting alien has wiped out the crew of the U.S. Outpost #31 research facility. In The Thing: Remastered, players step into the boots of Captain J.F. Blake, the leader of a United States Army Special Forces rescue team sent to investigate the blood-curdling events that transpired in the original The Thing film. Trapped by the elements and at risk of infection by a horrific entity, Blake must keep his squad together to survive by gaining their trust and ensuring that their fear and paranoia don’t get the best of them … or himself.

The Thing: Remastered Key Features:

  • Return to U.S. Outpost #31: Continue the story of The Thing and face off against terrifying monsters, from scuttling head-spiders and human-like walkers to gigantic multi-tentacled level bosses
  • Who Goes There?: Command a squad of up to four NPCs from Soldier, Medic, and Engineer character classes through the game’s 11 frightening levels
  • The Warmest Place to Hide: Someone in your squad may not be who they appear to be. The shape-shifting alien hides inside an imitation, so keep a watchful eye.
