Farming Simulator 22 Shows Off Character Creation

With Farming Simulator 22, developer and publisher GIANTS Software introduces a new character creator with all sorts of new clothing items and accessories. With the new crossplay feature allowing players to cooperate with more like-minded farmers than ever before, the extension of the character customization allows farmers to stand out from the crowd. The comprehensive build mode offers even more space for a creative and individual game experience.

Latest fashion: Boots, beards, and branded outfits
Players choose from male and female character models, their hairstyle, including a beard or mustache, between various clothing items from top to bottom, and even authentic full-body outfits from international agricultural brands. With headgear, gloves, and glasses, there’s also a set of fashionable accessories to put on.

Creating a rough weather-hardened farmer with a big, bushy beard and striking sideburns in a brown leather jacket and firm boots is just as possible as creating a vigorous farmer-girl in protective clothing, rocking both a ponytail and safety glasses when driving the big forestry machines to do some precise wood cutting. If players want to dress up accordingly for each task, changing clothes is always possible by opening the wardrobe at the farmhouse.

Virtual farmers can wear their favorite brands
On top of the generic clothing options, virtual farmers can also choose from a set of branded outfits. When running a farming operation heavy on John Deere machinery, dressing up in the distinctive green company color adds to the authenticity of agricultural farming operations.

Case IH, CLAAS, Fendt, Massey Ferguson, Valtra, and others are also represented with their authentic outfits. Thanks to ELTEN, GIANTS Software’s trusted partner for safety shoes, and Engelbert Strauss, specialized in high-quality workwear, the safety of virtual farmers is guaranteed, too.

More customization for the farm
Customization of the farming experience doesn’t stop with the character: With the new and extensive build mode, players can also individualize their land. Big buildings, production plants, silos, machine halls, and animal pens may give farming operations that impressive size, already visible when multiplayer companions approach the land from afar.

But, details like sheds, fences, lamps and floodlights, as well as trees and plants add to the individual charm of each farm. Revamped and improved landscaping tools to sculpt and change the environment, allow players to even change the environment itself.

Farming Simulator 22 releases November 22nd for PC, Mac, PlayStation®5 (PS5™), Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation®4, Xbox One and Stadia.

Netflix’s Cowboy Bebop First-Look Images and Date Announcement

Meet Spike Spiegel (John Cho), Jet Black (Mustafa Shakir), and Faye Valentine (Daniella Pineda) in Cowboy Bebop, premiering November 19, only on Netflix.

COWBOY BEBOP is an action-packed space Western about three bounty hunters, aka “cowboys,” all trying to outrun the past. As different as they are deadly, Spike Spiegel (John Cho), Jet Black (Mustafa Shakir), and Faye Valentine (Daniella Pineda) form a scrappy, snarky crew ready to hunt down the solar system’s most dangerous criminals — for the right price. But they can only kick and quip their way out of so many scuffles before their pasts finally catch up with them.

Based on the beloved anime series, COWBOY BEBOP is executive produced by André Nemec, Jeff Pinkner, Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg of Midnight Radio, Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements of Tomorrow Studios, Makoto Asanuma, Shin Sasaki and Masayuki Ozaki of Sunrise Inc., Tim Coddington, Tetsu Fujimura, Michael Katleman, Matthew Weinberg, and Christopher Yost. Nemec serves as showrunner. Original anime series director Shinichirō Watanabe is a consultant on the series, and original composer Yoko Kanno returns for the live-action adaptation. The series also stars Alex Hassell and Elena Satine.

Midsummer Scream’s Awaken the Spirits! Scares Up Halloween Fun in Pasadena

Due to the pandemic, 2020 saw the cancellation of many conventions, events, and haunted attractions. Not looking like we were quite out of the woods yet this year, Midsummer Scream announced that their main convention held in Long Beach would be postponed until 2022. Then, fairly recently (as things started opening back up), they announced that they would host another Halloween/horror convention called Awaken the Spirits! – this time at the Pasadena Convention Center. Midsummer Scream and its now defunct progenitor event used to utilize the Pasadena Convention Center and, personally, I love the location. It may be a little smaller in terms of square footage, but its ease of parking, surrounding food options, and proximity to several hotels make it an “easy breezy” experience for convention-goers. We stayed at a nearby hotel and simply walked across the street to the event each morning, making it nearly effortless and stress-free.

However, a big question remained: Could Midsummer Scream pull together a convention in ONLY a month and a half? I’m happy to say that they not only accomplished this feat but they also accomplished it with a master stroke. Awaken the Spirits! was an absolute blast. The show floor had plenty of exhibitors and vendors hosting a variety of wares for browsing and purchase. Vendors like Temecula Terror advertising their new haunt in Temecula and Nightmare Toys which had a large lineup of NECA and Trick or Treat Studios products for sale. The LA Haunted Hayride brought out an amazing photo op which thrilled guests and saw no shortage of people taking selfies in front of it. One of my favorite haunted houses, Reign of Terror (based in Thousand Oaks) brought out a hears and two huge skeletons to advertise their upcoming haunt. Even spooky musical duo The Dos Feratu were in attendance, playing their creepy tunes throughout the convention halls.

Another thing I have been missing was getting to see all the amazing costumes that people attending these events can put together. During our visit to the Awaken the Spirits! convention floor, we were delighted to see a huge amount of cosplayer turn out. There were people dressed up like monsters of all kinds – with a variety of complexity levels and degree of transformation. Some opted for more “conservative” costume pieces while others donned prosthetic makeup effects and their own horror soundtracks. There were creatures walking on stilts for added height and scare factor as well as others opting for more comedy-based costumes, meant to garner a chuckle instead of a scream. Speaking of costuming and makeup, there were several vendors selling amazing latex and silcone masks and the booth of FX Faces was even selling a huge number of foam latex prosthetics. They even had a makeup artist on-hand applying them to their scare actors.

The lineup of panels did not disappoint either – the only big no-show being Knott’s Scary Farm (they’ve opted to do all their reveals via social media this year). However, all the other big players in the Southern California haunted attraction world showed up and brought something fun to present. Whether it was 13th Floor Entertainment Group Creative Director Jon Cooke revealing that the LA Haunted Hayride would be based in Griffith Park this year and feature several new Midnight Falls locations for guests to explore or Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights Director John Murdy spilling the details about their upcoming “The Bride of Frankenstein Lives” maze and making a haunted house for his kids last year – each panel was interesting and entertaining. I especially enjoyed the two smaller-scale panels featuring a variety of home haunts – going to those homegrown haunts is a yearly tradition for me. It brings me such joy to see the creativity and improvisation that home haunters bring to the table. Also, a special shout out needs to be given to the set designers of this event – stages looked beautiful and featured projection and lighting effects that simply dazzled.

The only thing missing from Awaken the Spirits! was Midsummer Scream’s famous Hall of Shadows – an area of the convention in which various haunted attractions erect small-scale tasts of what guests can expect to see during the spooky season. However, this was an intentional move by the Midsummer Scream team as it simply wasn’t right or practical to give the various haunts such a small amount of time to put together walkthrough attractions. The only exception to this was Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights which brought out a very small “boo box” walkthrough in anticipating of their upcoming “The Curse of Pandora’s Box” maze. As a side note, it was revealed at the event that Midsummer Scream’s next convention, Season’s Screamings, will feature a Hall of Shadows-like area called the “Hall of Yuletide Spirits”.

During our time outside the convention, we were able to get some great food from the restaurants at the Paseo Colorado Shopping Center, giving us time to regroup and reflect on what we just experienced at the event, before jumping right back into the fray for more spooky fun. Pasadena Police were on-hand with not only making sure the convention center area was safe but, also, assisting with traffic direction to parking areas when needed.

Overall, Midsummer Scream’s Awaken the Spirits! has definitely awakened the Halloween spirit. Now, the spooky season is looking bright and hopeful and I’m already starting to pull out the Halloween boxes from the garage in order to start planning my own home’s decor for the Fall. Thanks to the entire Midsummer Scream team for the hard work in bringing the event to life and we can’t wait to check out Season’s Screamings come December!

Encased Official Launch Date and Screenshots

Prime Matter and Dark Crystal Games are pleased to announce that Encased – the upcoming isometric dystopian sci-fi RPG – will be launching on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 for PC. Accompanying today’s announcement are seven new screenshots from areas in the later stages of the game.

Set in an alternative 1976, Encased has players exploring a hostile area called The Dome, a sealed wasteland packed to the brim with amazing technology but also deadly enemies.

Players start off in one of five disciplines – science, engineering, security, management, or convict – which affects their initial stats, specialization, and opens (or prevents) unique dialogue within the game.

As with all classical RPGs, the game is a mix of exploration, combat, and quest interaction as you journey across the environment crafting supplies and weapons while trying to ensure each day is not your last.

As you level up, you’ll encounter six different factions that have sprung up in The Dome. Whether they become your friends or enemies is entirely up to you.

The game owes some of its spiritual inspiration to books like Roadside Picnic – as well as several classic post-apocalyptic RPGs – creating a familiar but unique environment that will appeal to both the veteran aficionado and RPG newbie alike.

Encased, which will be a digital PC release on Steam, Epic, and GOG is currently in Early Access where users can experience all the first act and part of the second.

HBO Unveils First Images from House of the Dragon

HBO has released the first official images from the upcoming drama series, HOUSE OF THE DRAGON. Based on George R.R. Martin’s “Fire & Blood,” the series, which is set 300 years before the events of “Game of Thrones,” tells the story of House Targaryen. HOUSE OF THE DRAGON recently began production and will debut on HBO and be available to stream on HBO Max in 2022.

Featured cast include the following:

Emma D’Arcy as “Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen”: The king’s first-born child, she is of pure Valyrian blood, and she is a dragonrider. Many would say that Rhaenyra was born with everything… but she was not born a man.

Matt Smith as “Prince Daemon Targaryen”: The younger brother to King Viserys and heir to the throne. A peerless warrior and a dragonrider, Daemon possesses the true blood of the dragon. But it is said that whenever a Targaryen is born, the gods toss a coin in the air…

Steve Toussaint as “Lord Corlys Velaryon” (“The Sea Snake”): Lord of House Velaryon, a Valyrian bloodline as old as House Targaryen. As “The Sea Snake,” the most famed nautical adventurer in the history of Westeros, Lord Corlys built his house into a powerful seat that is even richer than the Lannisters and that claims the largest navy in the world.

Olivia Cooke as “Alicent Hightower”: The daughter of Otto Hightower, the Hand of the King, and the most comely woman in the Seven Kingdoms. She was raised in the Red Keep, close to the king and his innermost circle; she possesses both a courtly grace and a keen political acumen.

Rhys Ifans as “Otto Hightower”: The Hand of the King, Ser Otto loyally and faithfully serves both his king and his realm. As the Hand sees it, the greatest threat to the realm is the king’s brother, Daemon, and his position as heir to the throne.

Knott’s Berry Farm Taste of Boysenberry Festival 2021 Review

After the state-wide shutdown during Winter due to COVID-19, it was a welcome breath of fresh air this weekend as we got to attend the Taste of Boysenberry Festival at Knott’s Berry Farm. As the shutdown has lifted and the state edges closer to the re-opening of theme parks (which will most likely happen in May), this very well could be the last tasting event put on by the park. If it is the swansong of the tasting event series, which Knott’s has perfected to an utter art form at this point, it will no doubt be the best.

Of course, the Taste of Boysenberry Festival is a tasting event – so, it’s mainly about the food. Thankfully, it doesn’t disappoint in that department either. For the $45 dollar entry fee, guests are each given a tasting card good for five free tasting portions of whatever festival food they prefer. The tasting cards make for great souvenirs and contain a listing of all the various food and drink items as well as the corresponding map location at which they can be found. I got the chance to taste a good number of items – even paying a la carte for some once I ran out of tastings! My favorite Taste of Boysenberry Festival items were the Boysenberry Fun Bun, the BBQ Brisket with Mac & Cheese, and the Beef Stew and Rice dishes. Even though these are technically tastings, the portions were ample and I can’t see someone being very hungry after using up their five tastings. The Taste of Boysenberry Festival drinks are incredible – my favorite being the berry cider! The Boysenberry Beer was very good as well, but the cider had a very light and effervescent quality to it that couldn’t be beat!

Walking around the park was an absolute delight, with hand sanitizer stations and social distancing markers dotting the landscape. Going the extra mile, Knott’s has dedicated staff walking around with signs stating that face and nose coverings are required. The best part of that was when the employee would spot someone not following the rules – they actually intervened and had them mask up. As far as an event being COVID-conscious, the Taste of Boysenberry Festival is numero uno. Despite some congestion in the park’s Ghost Town area, I never felt like my personal space was being encroached on at all or that I was being unnecessarily subjected to scary pathogens.

Even though the Knott’s Berry Farm’s various rides are not operating at the moment, the Taste of Boysenberry Festival is not without entertainment. There are numerous gigs happening all around the park. In Ghost Town, you’ll find the random park character performing or greeting guests as they walk by and there is even a somewhat smaller version of the craft village to be found. Along the various vendor booths, you can find all sorts of gifts and items. There is even a booth selling honey which features some live bees in a small apiary that you can look at via glass panels. There are also several stages set up around the park, each with their own show to take in.

Parking for the Taste of Boysenberry Festival is free (unlike some other theme park’s in SoCal) with the purchase of the $45 dollar tasting card. Universal Studios and now Disneyland have both begun tasting/food events of their own but neither get close to the quality and value of those events put on by Knott’s Berry Farm.

The Knott’s Berry Farm Taste of Boysenberry Festival runs from March 5 through May 2. Ticket, venue, food information, and more can be found over at Knott’s Berry Farm’s official website.
