German Battleships Arrive to World of Warships

August 17, 2016 — World of Warships welcomes the highly anticipated addition of German battleships. Meticulously engineered, sleek and powerful, eight new warships are already available in the game. And that’s not all. Captains can also ready themselves for a second wave as World of Warships is poised to add British cruisers this autumn.

“We’re extremely excited to be finally letting these fearsome German vessels loose on the battlefield,” said Artur Plociennik, Global Publishing Producer, World of Warships. “They’re versatile warships that are adept at bringing the battle to the enemy. Plus, with British ships on their way, it’s just another way we’re giving players as much freedom as possible to make the battle their own.”

German battleships dive into the heart of combat, bringing to players several iconic heavy-hitters: the legendary Bismarck (Tier VIII) with its vast expanse of armor and 8 main caliber guns in 4 turrets; the strongly armored Bayern (Tier VI); and the tough Großer Kurfürst, whose strong torpedo protection, enhanced horizontal armor and more advanced AA guns can even compete with mighty ships such as IJNYamato and USS Montana.

German battleships leverage thick armor, a high rate of fire, and powerful secondary weaponry to make them extremely tough in close quarters combat. At the top of the branch, these vessels also benefit from “Hydro-acoustic search” equipment, which allows them to rapidly detect nearby opponents. In short, German battleships are perfect for the captain who isn’t afraid to get up close and personal.

Not long after the launch of the German battleships the first branch of the British fleet will also be preparing to set sail. A full branch of 10 British cruisers will include Caledon at Tier III, Leander at Tier VI,Edinburgh at Tier VIII, and Minotaur at Tier X. Commanders will be able to discover more about these vessels, lurking across the horizon, in the very near future. Guests to the Wargaming booth at gamescom 2016 can even get a first glimpse of the new line today, during the World of Warships presentation, commencing 12PM (GMT +2) at the Wargaming B2C booth.

PLAYERUNKNOWN’S Battlegrounds Completes Pre-alpha Milestone

Seoul, South Korea – August 10, 2016Bluehole, developer of the popular MMORPG, TERA, today announced it has successfully concluded the first pre-alpha test for PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS, the open world strategic shooter produced in collaboration with PLAYERUNKNOWN, creator of the fan-favorite “Battle Royale” game modes for ARMA 3 and H1Z1. Over 600 players participated in the test sessions, with overwhelmingly positive feedback on the game’s progress after just four months of development—particularly with regard to the project’s core gameplay, responsiveness and stability. Additional tests will take place every six to eight weeks as the game advances.

In development for PC using Unreal Engine 4, the standalone game will expand the core Battle Royale experience enjoyed by millions of players into a highly competitive player vs. player (PvP) game in a dynamic open world. PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS will put up to 64 players on a remote island for a winner-takes-all showdown where strategic gameplay is as important as shooting skills. Players will enter a last-man-standing battle where they try to locate weapons, vehicles and supplies in a graphically and tactically rich battleground that eventually forces players into a shrinking safe area as they engage in a tense and spectacular fight to the death.

“The enthusiastic response of the players after experiencing the bare bones of the game tells me we are on the right track for strong gameplay set in a realistic open world,” said Brendan Greene, aka PLAYERUNKNOWN. “Our Bluehole team has made amazing progress and everyone is fired up for the next play test when we’ll have more of the game to show.”

Bluehole and PLAYERUNKNOWN are committed to an Open Development philosophy for the game, sharing regular updates with the passionate community base, providing early assets and information, answering questions and taking in feedback. This spirit of collaboration is integral to the game’s success, as the online game will grow and thrive with the participation of its player community.

“I want to thank all our testers for their participation and feedback as Open Development is at the heart of this project,” said Chang Han Kim, Production Director of Bluehole. “We are producing new game content daily to enrich the experience and the core gameplay of strategic combat driven by player tactics is already coming through loud and clear.”

PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS, currently under development for PC by Bluehole in creative partnership with PLAYERUNKNOWN, will be published by Bluehole worldwide as a paid title. More information on the game will be released on an ongoing basis. For updates, visit playbattlegrounds.com and follow PLAYERUNKNOWN and the official game account,@pubattlegrounds, on Twitter.

2016 Scare LA Wrap-Up and Photo Gallery

As we move closer to the Halloween season, one of the great Southern California joys is going to Scare LA, a Halloween / horror convention. Now in its fourth year, Scare LA has grown quite a bit from its meager beginnings. Scare LA creator Lora Ivanova has crafted this show into a huge event and it brings in some top talent for its panels and classes.

There were a number of panels to take in – with all the names in the haunted attractions industry showing up. Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights and Knott’s Scary Farm gave a few more interesting tidbits about their upcoming events and we even had panels featuring Elvira herself! Elvira was the big name and host of Scare LA 2016 and she took a lot of time signing autographs on the exhibit floor.

Speaking of the exhibit floor, the Pasadena Convention Center is a very large space and they did a great job of filling it with vendors and even mini-escape rooms! We are big escape room fans and it is great to see them get floorspace in these events. Last year, there didn’t seem to be as many vendors as I had hoped – this year was a huge improvement. The Decayed Brigade (a group of “sliders” originally from Knott’s Scary Farm) were back again this year and put on some great displays of athleticism in their shows.

As usual, there were several mini-haunted houses at the event – with amazing showings from the folks at Creep LA as well as an all-new, in-house haunted house directly from the creators of Scare LA! Blood Offering featured some great set pieces, very good runtime – especially for a mini-haunt, as well as some nice acting components. Scare LA teamed up with former Knott’s Scary Farm maze designer Brooke Walters and Hollywood prop maker Donald Julson for the walk-through (and crawl-through at times).

You could even purchase a “Scare Student” pass to the event and take in a variety of classes pertaining to haunted attractions. Haunt music creator Jon Autopsy taught a course in crafting music for your haunted house while makeup artist Ken Frankling taught a course in airbrush makeup. There were, of course, a lot more to attend, but these were just a couple examples.

Overall, the 2016 Scare LA was a great time for horror and Halloween fans alike and I can’t wait to check out the 2017 event.

Check out Scare LA’a website for more information!

2016 Midsummer Scream Photo Gallery

The first annual Midsummer Scream Halloween Festival has concluded and it was a wallop of a hauntingly good fun. We braved mini-haunt experiences from the likes of Perdition Home, Spooky Hollows, DeadZone 805, and several others. We took in various panels from haunted attraction professionals such as John Murdy from Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights. We walked the floor of the Long Beach Convention Center, sorting through a variety of vendors selling hauntingly fun items. And even though it took a good two days of our time to see everything, it feels like it was over in a flash. Midsummer Scream was a terrific time and I look forward to attending the event’s second annual showing next year!

The Undead Team

Death comes often for Blood Bowl players, and the souls of the most passionate sometimes rise up again to relive the scenes of their former glory. The Undead team, raised by the Liche-lords of the Old World, have the unique skill “Regenerate” which makes them very difficult to kill. They have incredibly agile players, the Ghouls and the Wights, but they are often too fast for their shambling, but fearsome, Mummy teammates to keep up.

Finally, two Star Players are joining the Undead: Ramtut III is a mighty and powerful mummy who has spent countless years on the pitch. Morg n’ Thorg, someone who has faced Ramtut on the pitch and lived, happens to be his sworn nemesis. Vampire Count Luthor Von Drakenborg carries impressive stats and the Hypnotic Gaze ability, and is one of our most fearsome Star Players yet!

Coming soon, the Necromantic and the Nurgle! Stay tuned, sports fans!
