LEGO Unveils San Diego Comic-Con Exclusives

SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON (July 18, 2018) – LEGO Systems, Inc. is once again showcasing the hottest upcoming toys and convention-only exclusives at this year’s Comic-Con International: San Diego (SDCC), the world’s largest comic and entertainment convention. The company is highlighting the much-anticipated big-screen animated adventure The LEGO®Movie 2: The Second Part, and will charm attendees with large-scale LEGO Master Builder creations inspired by iconic characters, new LEGO products releasing in 2019, one-of-a-kind minifigure giveaways, exclusive retail offerings and hands-on building activities at booth #2829 in Hall D at the San Diego Convention Center, July 19-22.

The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part
Characters from The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part, the highly anticipated sequel to 2014’s smash hit The LEGO Movie, in theaters February 8, 2019, will take center stage at the LEGO Booth.. A larger-than-life, over 4-foot tall and 7-and-a-half-foot long version of leading character Unikitty™ in a new Ultrakatty form will be on display at the LEGO Booth. The creation took LEGO Master Builders 250 hours and 55,825 bricks to design and build. Visitors to the booth can also test their building skills by helping LEGO Master Builders construct a brick-built masterpiece, while getting a sneak peek at the new characters from the film in a 221,184-brick LEGO mystery mural.

Three new LEGO building sets based on the film – Ultrakatty & Warrior Lucy! ($29.99), Emmet and Lucy’s Escape Buggy ($49.99) and Sweet Mayhem’s Systar Starship! ($49.99)– will make their debut at SDCC as a preview to the entirely new collection of LEGO building sets launching in 2019.

LEGO Super Heroes: DC Comics™
A special Aquaman and Storm collectible building set, as depicted in their original animated TV appearances in the ’60s, will be available exclusively for purchase for select attendees who registered prior to the show.

Prior to its release in January 2019, attendees can see the new LEGO Super Heroes Batman™ Mech vs. Poison Ivy™ Mech building set ($39.99), bringing together the legendary DC characters Batman™, Poison Ivy™, The Flash™ and Firefly.

A LEGO minifigure version of Black Lightning, from The CW’s popular television series Black Lightning (season 2 premieres Tuesday, October 9 at 9/8c), will also be given away to winning attendees from a pre-show lottery.

LEGO Marvel™ Super Heroes
Inspired by Marvel Studios’ blockbuster hit Avengers: Infinity War, an 8-and-a-half-foot LEGO model of the powerful Titan warlord Thanos, containing 91,350 bricks, will continue his journey at SDCC to rule over the LEGO booth. Weighing 450 pounds, the model took LEGO Master Builders 418 hours to design and build. A new LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Spider Mech vs. Venom building set ($49.99) available in December, bringing together the classic characters Venom and Spider-Man in an original Spider Mech vehicle exclusive to LEGO brick form, will also be on display.

Following this month’s release of Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man and the Wasp, a limited-edition retail set inspired by the film will be exclusively sold to select attendees who registered in a raffle before the show. Additionally, a LEGO minifigure version of Marvel’s Sheriff Deadpool will be given to chosen attendees from a pre-show giveaway.

LEGO Star Wars™
Fans of LEGO Star Wars™ a will have the chance to step inside a LEGO brick-built version of the iconic Millennium Falcon™ cockpit, containing 201,985 LEGO bricks and weighing over 1,300 pounds. The Walking Dead: Road to Survival and The Walking Dead: The Final Season Crossover Event

July 17, 2018 – Scopely and Telltale Games have joined forces to bring players a brand new The Walking Dead storyline that links the worlds of Scopely’s The Walking Dead: Road to Survival and Telltale Games’ The Walking Dead: The Final Season. Starting July 17th, players who download The Walking Dead: Road to Survival will embark on a new interactive narrative adventure that spans the stories of three powerful survivors that fans will recognize from Telltale Games’ critically acclaimed game series.

Hunt: Showdown Gets Early Access Update 2.1

FRANKFURT, Germany – July 16, 2018 – Even more new content for Hunt: Showdown, Crytek’s early access multiplayer bounty hunting game, went live today with the release of Update 2.1, coming hot on the heels of the release of Update 2. Update 2.1’s two biggest additions are both community-requested features: a partner spectator mode for players who die during a match and a new mission type with heavy fog.

With Update 2.1, players will also get access to more weapons and the usual slew of improvements and bug fixes. New weapons included in the update are the Crossbow, Hand Crossbow, Poisonhand Crossbow, Throwing Knives, a Specter with bayonet, a Sparks with silencer, a Winfield with silencer, and a Combat Axe. Two related traits have also been added—Bolt Thrower and Bolt Seer—which will give any bow slinger additional prowess. Fixes range from menu tweaks to weapon balancing, and the details are all available in the Update Patch Notes.

Duelists looking for more opportunities to show off their Dueling techniques can visit the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Organized Play Room #16B on the Mezzanine level where KONAMI will host a variety of Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG events from Thursday through Sunday including Win-A-Mats, 2019 Regional Qualifiers, ATTACK OF THE GIANT CARD!!, Duel Links tournaments and more!  Dragon Duel Tournaments, for children born 2006 or later, will take place on FridaySaturday and Sunday only. And best of all – these tournaments are free to Comic-Con attendees, so make sure to bring your pre-constructed Deck!

EW Returns to Comic-Con for 2018

LOS ANGELES, CA (July 16, 2018) – For the twelfth consecutive year, Entertainment Weekly will descend on San Diego Comic-Con 2018 with a fully loaded arsenal: two star-studded panels; a photo, video and radio studio; a special Comic-Con issue of the magazine free to all attendees; as well as the annual exclusive Closing Night VIP party. In addition, Entertainment Weekly’s annual Comic-Con preview issue featuring Doctor Who on the cover goes on sale nationwide Friday, July 13.

The EW Video Studio at the Hard Rock Hotel, in partnership with Facebook, will once again be the ultimate talent destination. EW.com and EW’s Facebook page will exclusively livestream non-stop video content and commentary from the convention, offering fans immediate and intimate access to Comic-Con’s biggest stars. Viewers can get in on the festival action on Facebook Watch as EW’s award-winning writers and editors interview the TV and film industries’ biggest names from EW’s Video Studio.

“We’re beyond excited to be back at Comic-Con in a big way this year,” said Henry Goldblatt, Editor in Chief, Entertainment Weekly. “Our partnership with Facebook is a terrific opportunity to amplify EW’s video content to an even wider audience. EW’s “Inside Comic-Con,” a free bonus issue, will be distributed by street teams on the ground in San Diego throughout the weekend, and will be available beginning Thursday, July 19. The cover story, written by EW Editor at Large, James Hibberd, is a must-read for Comic-Con attendees. Additionally, EW’s always-popular Comic-Con preview double issue, jam-packed with sneak peeks of some of the most highly anticipated TV shows and movies including a First Look at the new Doctor Who, featuring Jodie Whittaker as the first female Doctor, will hit newsstands nationwide on July 13.

The EW Studio will be a one-stop shop for the leading TV and film stars to promote their upcoming projects. For the sixth year, SiriusXM’s Entertainment Weekly Radio channel will air interviews and coverage with SiriusXM hosts Dalton RossJessica ShawJulia Cunningham and Kyle Anderson. Entertainment Weekly Radio’s Comic-Con broadcast will begin Thursday, July 19 at 2:00pm ET and will air through Saturday, July 23 on SiriusXM channel 105.

EW will present two fan-favorite panels:

Brave Warriors, a laugh-filled discussion with today’s male heroes including Benedict Wong (Deadly Class), Dylan Bruce (Midnight, Texas), Santiago Cabrera (Salvation), Tom Ellis (Lucifer) Jay Hernandez (Magnum P.I.), and Eoin Macken (Nightflyers). During this annual panel, topics will include the thrill of playing iconic characters, the sometimes awkward encounters with fans, and the highs (and lows!) of a career in Hollywood.  Moderated by EW Editor at Large, Lynette Rice the panel will take place in Ballroom 20 from 2:15-3:15pmon Friday, July 20.

Women Who Kick Ass, a discussion among fierce, fearless actresses featuring Jodie Whittaker (Doctor Who) Regina King (Watchmen), Amandla Stenberg (The Darkest Minds), Chloe Bennet (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), and Camila Mendes (Riverdale) opening up about the power and privilege of playing women that redefine the rules and refuse to yield. Moderated by EW Radio’s Jessica Shaw, the panel will take place in Hall H from 4:00-5:00pm on Saturday, July 21.

Entertainment Weekly and Marvel will host an intimate “After Dark” evening event in the EW Studio on Friday, July 20 with casts from Cloak & Dagger, Iron Fist, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.The Gifted and Marvel Rising.

Finally, no Comic-Con experience would be complete without EW’s legendary closing night party on Saturday, July 21. The poolside fete, presented by HBO, will once again take place at FLOAT at the Hard Rock Hotel and will attract some of Hollywood’s biggest film and television talent in a celebration of all things pop culture. This year’s highly anticipated party will feature two of everyone’s favorite HBO shows, a Game of Thrones photo op and cabanas themed around Westworld, along with tunes from DJ Michelle Pesce.
