Strategos Release Date Announcement

Strategos, the real-time tactics wargame focused on large-scale warfare in classical antiquity, will officially launch on January 20th.

Designed for players seeking historically grounded, mechanically deep battles, Strategos simulates warfare across nearly a thousand years of the ancient world. From the Hoplite armies of the Persian Wars to the legions of Imperial Rome and the rise of the Sasanian Empire, players can command thousands of troops on expansive battlefields shaped by terrain, morale, disorder, and command limitations.

Strategos emphasizes realism and systemic depth over arcade-style action. Armies maneuver in formation, react to morale shocks, pursue or rout enemies, and suffer from fatigue, disorder, and fog of war. Success depends not only on troop quality, but on positioning, timing, leadership, and the effective use of generals to maintain command and control across the battlefield.

Players can recreate historical engagements or design speculative matchups using an extensive custom battle system, selecting factions, eras, army sizes, terrain, and AI behavior. Historical battles such as Issos, Trebia, Ilipa, Magnesia, Zama, Adamclisi, Bibracte, Carrhae, and Raphia are included at launch, with additional scenarios planned post-release.
