Wasteland 3 Cult of the Holy Detonation DLC Announced

With gamescom and the one-year anniversary of Wasteland 3 right around the corner, inXile entertainment and Prime Matter are proud to announce the second and final DLC expansion for Wasteland 3 – Cult of the Holy Detonation – and the release of the “Colorado Collection” bundle, are both launching digitally on October 5, 2021.

About the Cult of the Holy Detonation expansion:

A nuclear detonation stuck in time, a holy war between mutant cults, and the Desert Rangers stuck right in the middle.

Deep within the Cheyenne Mountain military complex, mutant cults worship an ancient deity they call the Holy Detonation—a nuclear explosion held in stasis. Whether god, science experiment, or an accidental miracle, the Holy Detonation’s energy could power Colorado Springs for hundreds of years or level it in an instant. The warring cults have differing opinions on who should be allowed to honor their “god,” and you’re going to have to muscle your way to the altar. It’s one last mission for the Rangers in Colorado, and the outcome is certain to be explosive—one way or the other.

A teaser trailer giving players a first look into the new DLC was revealed during Microsoft’s gamescom 2021 Xbox Stream.

Cult of the Holy Detonation expands the Wasteland 3 experience with entry into the Cheyenne Mountain complex, crammed with new characters, enemies, challenging combat encounters, and powerful new weapons and armor. Your squad of Rangers will be tested like never before in objective-based encounters that put a creative spin on the already deeply tactical turn-based combat. As they face overwhelming odds the Rangers will need to shut down reactors, clear ventilation systems, and engage defensive countermeasures to stem an unending tide of dangerous mutants and machines within the dilapidated military bunker.

Wasteland 3: Cult of the Holy Detonation will be available for digital download on October 5th for PC, Xbox One and PS4, at an MSRP of $6.99. The Cult of the Holy Detonation content will also be available as a part of the Expansion Pass.

Xbox Game Pass members who want to purchase Cult of the Holy Detonation save 10 percent.

Details on the Wasteland 3: Colorado Collection:

The entire Wasteland 3 experience in one colossal collection. In addition to the award-winning tactical RPG Wasteland 3, the Colorado Collection includes both The Battle of Steeltown and Cult of the Holy Detonation expansions, as well as the Colorado Survival Gear bonus items.

The Colorado Collection includes:

Wasteland 3

  • The award-winning sequel in the Wasteland franchise brings the Desert Rangers to the frozen wastes of Colorado to deal with gangs, cults, and psychopathic clowns in an effort to bring stability to one more frontier of the wastes.

The Battle of Steeltown

  • The manufacturing complex of Steeltown has ground to a halt, stopping deliveries of machines and robots needed for Colorado’s war efforts. It’s up to the Rangers to get the gears turning again, by any means necessary.

Cult of the Holy Detonation

  • Venture into the Cheyenne Mountain complex to take possession of a power source that could make Colorado Springs into an electrified utopia, or a smoking crater. It’s up to the Rangers how they’ll handle this radioactive situation.

Colorado Survival Gear

  • Start your adventures with a snow-themed set of bonus gear that’ll make your arrival in Colorado a tad smoother.

Wasteland 3: Colorado Collection will be available for digital download on October 5th for PC, Xbox One and PS4, with an MSRP of $59.99.

The Circle Drive-In to Host First Annual Blood-O-Rama Shock Festival

Calling all horror movie fans and drive-in movie enthusiasts! The Frankenstein Monster from 1971’s cult classic DRACULA VS FRANKENSTEIN will be returning from the dead after a 50-year rest, courtesy of makeup effects artist Roy Knyrim of SOTA FX STUDIO. The man-made monster will be making a live appearance as Sam Sherman’s Retro Road Show Drive-In Tour returns to the State of Pennsylvania with two back-to-back screenings of the Al Adamson cult classics, DRACULA VS. FRANKENSTEIN (1971) and BRAIN OF BLOOD (1971), both films celebrating their 50th Anniversary, on October 22rd, 2021 as part of THE FIRST ANNUAL BLOOD-O-RAMA SHOCK FESTIVAL at The Circle Drive-In in Scranton, PA. Gates open at 4 pm for this special event which will feature a local community Blood Drive and an opportunity to see the resurrected Monster of Frankenstein before the sun sets, and the film festival begins at 6 pm. The night will also feature two other blood-soaked movies, THE MAD DOCTOR OF BLOOD ISLAND and BEAST OF BLOOD, during the evening’s film program, as well as an opportunity to experience THE CIRCLE DRIVE-IN’s spooky Halloween haunt, THE CIRCLE OF SCREAMS! Don’t be surprised if another creature, The Beast of Blood, shows up to meet and greet fans during the evening’s drive-in festivities with free Zombie swizzle sticks. In addition, the first 100 cars that arrive at the drive-in will receive a free “Drac Pack,” which includes a plastic Dracula ring and plastic vampire fangs. (Note: One “Drac Pack” per car.)

The idea for THE CIRCLE DRIVE-IN’S BLOOD-O-RAMA SHOCK FESTIVAL with the Drive-In Blood Drive and Blood themed movie event was based on a couple of producer/distributor Sam Sherman’s packaging and marketing campaigns for Hemisphere Pictures during the early 1970s, entitled THE CHILLER CARNIVAL OF BLOOD and THE BLOOD-O-RAMA SHOCK FESTIVAL. A number of the films Mr. Sherman worked on emphasized the word “Blood” in the title to lure “blood-thirsty” horror and gore fans to seek the films out at their local theatre or drive-in. Some of the film campaigns and titles Sherman worked on include BLOOD CREATURE, THE BLOOD DRINKERS, BRIDES OF BLOOD, BLOOD OF DRACULA’S CASTLE, HORROR OF THE BLOOD MONSTERS, HELL’S BLOODY DEVILS, and BLOOD OF GHASTLY HORROR. In fact, it was Mr. Sherman who was the brains behind the classic drive-in campaign and audience-participation gimmick called “THE OATH OF GREEN BLOOD” for the Tiki creature feature, THE MAD DOCTOR OF BLOOD ISLAND (1968), which is part of the festival. Mr. Sherman, a drive-in movie pioneer, just completed his memoir WHEN DRACULA MET FRANKENSTEIN (Murania Press), which will be available in limited supply at The Circle Drive-In.

The film DRACULA VS FRANKENSTEIN was also originally conceived with the crimson fluid in titles like SATAN’S BLOOD FREAKS, THE BLOOD SEEKERS and even BLOOD OF FRANKENSTEIN before Sam Sherman decided to add and exploit a classic monster match-up plot with the immortal characters of the King of the Vampires, Dracula, and the man-made Frankenstein Monster.

Sherman, who still has the original latex appliance for the Frankenstein Monster’s head used in 1971’s DRACULA VS FRANKENSTEIN, has been trying to find the original make-up man responsible for the man-made monster, Anthony Tierney. “Sadly, we haven’t found Tony, and the latex appliance for the Frankenstein Monster is deteriorating beyond repair,” Sherman relayed. However, all was not lost. Sherman and his colleague David Sehring of Drive-In-Sanity Films were referred to veteran make-up and FX wizard, Roy Knyrim of SOTA FX Studio, to help resurrect the monster. Knyrim jumped at the opportunity to tackle the Monster of Frankenstein and sought out whatever reference material he could find. Knyrim remembers DRACULA VS FRANKENSTEIN as, “One of my childhood favorites! Having the opportunity to re-create the Frankenstein Monster from DRACULA VS FRANKENSTEIN was a childhood dream come true for me. I have great memories of this movie on the Saturday afternoon Creature Features in NY. “ Knyrim added, “We are trying our best to make the Monster as accurate as possible using traditional sculpture and mold-making techniques. The same way it was made back in the day. What an honor to be able to be a part of this!”

Sam Sherman’s Retro Road Show Tour of Drive-In Cult Classics features recently restored and remastered versions of the films he made with drive-in maverick Al Adamson, including DRACULA VS FRANKENSTEIN and BRAIN OF BLOOD. In addition, Adamson’s life and tragic death and the films he made with Sam Sherman were celebrated in the recent documentary BLOOD & FLESH: THE REEL LIFE & GHASTLY DEATH OF AL ADAMSON by director David Gregory for Severin Films.

Turtle Beach Recon Wired Xbox Controller Review

Turtle Beach has been a widely-known name in the gaming audio product category for a long time. Now, they’re stepping into the peripheral game with a new wired Xbox game controller called the RECON. From a design standpoint, the Turtle Beach Recon wired xbox game controller features a classy dark gray and black color scheme with white LED lights thrown in for extra cool factor. The body of the controller features a mainly plastic body structure with textured, rubber grips to make sure you can keep the controller in-hand during intense gameplay. The whole controller feels well-made, with the analog sticks’ action being nice and crisp. Turtle Beach even includes a 10 foot long braided cable to connect the Recon to your Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, or Windows PC.

The real fun stuff about the Turtle Beach Recon wired controller is located in the area just above the Xbox button. This area has a ton of controls – mainly dedicated to tweaking audio. There are two separate rocker controls which allow the gamer to independently adjust chat and game audio. There is also a button which toggles on and off what Turtle Beach calls “Superhuman Hearing”. This is a feature which has been seen on some of their headsets but in this configuration it allows you to use the feature with any headset you plug into the controller. This audio mode allows you to more easily pick up quiet audio cues like the sound of footsteps or another player reloading. It’s pretty darn cool and I love that they are allowing it to be headset agnostic in the Recon. Rolling through the other features using the mode and select buttons in this area of the controller, the gamer can adjust their mic gain with in-controller mic monitoring, custom button mapping to the two underside buttons, as well as adjusting “Pro-Aim” focus mode. This mode allows you to adjust the sensitivity of the right analog stick for finer movement. It’s analogous to DPI adjustments on a PC gamer’s mouse and is a very nice feature to have on a game controller.

Using the features can take a little getting used to – although, once you do, you’ll love that you have them on your controller. In these facets, the Turtle Beach Recon wired controller actually outshines the Microsoft controller. Of course, the Recon doesn’t have wireless capabilities or quite the same build quality as the Microsoft model (but its VERY close), but that wired connection allows for a lot more capability than a wireless one would. The Turtle Beach Recon wired controller is compatible with Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows 10 PCs – although the audio stuff doesn’t work on PCs. Most PC gamers probably have an favorite headset and sound card solution they already use and are happy with, so it’s not a big loss.

Overall, the Turtle Beach Recon wired Xbox game controller costs an economical $60 smackers while offering a premium level of options not seen on most controllers. If you are in the market for a wired controller for your Xbox One, Xbox Series X, or Windows PC you will love the Recon.

  • Grow your festival empire and react to world events including band breakups, record breaking album releases, sponsorship spats and more.
