Razer Unveils Modular Gaming Desk and Enki Pro HyperSense Gaming Chair

At the heart of Project Sophia is a customized PCB fitted with cutting-edge core components, including the latest Intel processor and NVIDIA GPU to support the most resource-intensive tasks. To maximize desk space, all of this is housed in a slim chassis that magnetically snaps in underneath the glass tabletop, which can be just as easily detached to install new upgrades, allowing the user to quickly create the system required for the task at hand.

Modules have been designed for all types of users, with creators being able to slot in touchscreen digitizers, tablets, and creative input tools to streamline hotkeys and macros, while gamers can instead focus on modules for high-fidelity audio and blistering visual performance by adding a THX Surround Sound system and high refresh rate monitor. Also announced today is the Enki Pro HyperSense, an advanced gaming chair incorporating high-fidelity haptics, allowing users to experience a new dimension of immersion in gaming. Based on the popular Enki Pro chair design, the Enki Pro HyperSense features a haptic feedback unit developed with D-BOX, to give the most authentic, lifelike feedback when gaming, and also integrates a Chroma RGB headrest that allows users to personalize their chair when in use.

Knott’s PEANUTS Celebration is Back for 2022

The Knott’s PEANUTS Celebration invites guests to step into the iconic world of Charles M. Schulz comic strips as the characters take over the entire theme park with special activities for everyone, now taking place daily beginning January 22 through March 6. The limited-time event welcomes fans of all ages to join in on the excitement with family-friendly options for guests to play and interact with the PEANUTS Gang throughout the park. The celebration features a new stage show, a new Charles Schulz exhibit, plenty of new PEANUTS-inspired food items, and last but not least, a brand-new walk-around character to join in on the fun.

At the Calico Mine Stage, the PEANUTS characters will be debuting a brand-new musical for guests with It’s Your Life, Charlie Brown. During the day, Charlie Brown gets the shock of his life on the game show “It’s Your Life!” There will be music, fun and surprise guests, including the world’s most famous beagle, Snoopy! The stage will transform into a musical extravaganza at nightfall as the park hosts Woodstock’s Musical Festival. The musical event features the PEANUTS Gang joined by the family-friendly indie band The Jelly of the Month Club, performing a high-energy rock concert for the whole family.

The PEANUTS-inspired festivities will continue at the Bird Cage Theatre as the park offers an experience that gives both the young and the young at heart a lesson on how to draw their favorite PEANUTS characters. The PEANUTS Sketch School will include our resident art teacher, who will provide step-by-step instructions on creating the perfect PEANUTS masterpiece. At Calico’s Town Hall, a new family-friendly, PEANUTS-inspired exhibit will be open for guests to experience. The new exhibit, Take Care with PEANUTS, invites us to laugh together at the fun and foibles of the PEANUTS Gang as they grapple with some of life’s biggest questions and ideas. Guests can take a look at the inspiration behind some of the most popular themes in PEANUTS through Schulz’s comic strips, photos, and drawings.

Join in on a Western escapade with Franklin and Linus as they transform into cowboys in the PEANUTS Cowboy Jamboree at Calico Park. The boys are looking to challenge guests with some of the rootiniest, tootinest games in Calico. Also in Ghost Town is Pigpen’s Pig Pen, where everyone’s favorite messy pal will be joining the rest of the PEANUTS Gang as he hosts a special meetup at the Livery Stables with some of his favorite animal friends.

Venture into Camp Snoopy, where the Camp Snoopy Theater will now feature the Music Goes ‘Round and Around during the day. Sally and Schroeder will host a retrospect of melodies sure to make the audience dance in the aisles. Don’t forget to hop aboard the Grand Sierra Railroad to experience a one-of-a-kind adventure as riders travel with the PEANUTS Gang to the Beagle Bonanza in this fun ride overlay.

While visiting Fiesta Village, guests can uncover an experience guaranteed to make everyone dance – Discoteca de Silencio or silent disco. The fun begins with guests strapping on a set of headphones and enjoying some upbeat tunes. Snoopy’s brother, Spike, hosts the party bound to be the most fun guests can experience while quiet in Spike’s Silent Disco.

The celebration doesn’t stop there! Just in time for PEANUTS Celebration, the DJs of K-NOT Radio, the hippest station on the Boardwalk, are spinning PEANUTS music. Arrow Video Giallo Essentials Red Edition Collection Review

Need to kickstart the Giallo shelf in your movie library? Regrettably pass on some of Arrow Video’s out of print releases from years past? Look no further than Giallo Essentials Red Edition, the first entry in a series of repackages by the foremost purveyors of Italian pulp home releases.

FEATURES

Giallo Essentials Red collects three films previously released by Arrow Video.

First is The Possessed, an early entry in the genre which finds American actor Peter Baldwin starring as Bernard, a renowned writer vacationing in Italy. During his travels he hopes to reconnect with hotel maid Tilde, whom he fell for during a previous visit. Learning that Tilde has recently committed suicide not only while pregnant but also by seemingly poisoning herself and slashing her own throat, Bernard sets out to discover the truth and clear Tilde’s name.

The Possessed sets itself apart from other films in the genre with its stark black and white cinematography. Coming across as part film noir, part 60s art film, director Luigi Bazzoni wears his influences on his sleeve with shots that riff directly on Hitchcockian thrillers like Psycho and Vertigo and use of high contrast flashback scenes that call French New Wave masterpieces like Last Year at Marienbad to mind. Even though it doesn’t feel quite like a gialli in the classic sense, The Possessed earns its place with the establishment of tropes like the outsider protagonist and a mystery wrapped in sexual tension.

After the commercial failure of The Possessed, producer Manolo Bolognini needed to recoup his losses which led to his approaching Sergio Corbucci to make the Spaghetti Western classic Django. Years after the success of Django, Bolognini would pair that film’s star, Franco Nero, with Luigi Bazzoni for the second film in this Essentials set, The Fifth Cord.

The Fifth Cord stars Franco Nero as alcoholic journalist Andrea who finds himself working to unravel the mystery of a series of murders plaguing the attendants of a New Year’s Eve party he himself attended. As his friends are picked off one by one, Andrea finds himself trapped in a web of killings, chasing false leads and trying to keep the heat off his own back in this stunningly shot film. Boasting rich colors and masterfully drawn out moments of tension, The Fifth Cord finds its director at the height of his abilities in a film that feels at times a precursor to the American paranoia thrillers of the 70s and a giallo masterpiece through and through.

Finally, we have The Pyjama Girl Case, a late entry in the genre based on real events that occurred in and shot on location in Australia. The Pyjama Girl Case tells parallel stories of a police inspector trying to solve the grisly murder that left a woman’s charred remains to be found by a child on the beach and the story of the woman herself in the days leading up to her death. While it is a fairly straightforward detective story and without the suspense or visual flair that is traditional of many gialli, The Pyjama Girl Case remains an engrossing story and a movie worth watching if for nothing other than the curiosity of a genre trying to mature itself towards the end of its reign.

PICTURE AND AUDIO

The three discs contained in this set are all reissues of their prior releases containing the same transfers of previous 2K restorations by Arrow.

The Possessed features a rich black and white image that ranges from a rich, warm, natural tone throughout most of the film to stark contrast in flashback sequences. The Fifth Cord and The Pyjama Girl Case each boast the rich color and lush skin tones that gialli have historically been known for and all three films contain a clear, consistent grain with little to no obvious imperfections across their runtimes.

Audio is available on each disc in both mono Italian tracks and the original English dubs of the films though the option to choose which version is present on the main menu of The Possessed and The Fifth Cord while in The Pyjama Girl Case you have to dive into your setup options to change tracks.

EXTRAS AND PACKAGING

Being reissues, there are no new supplements on any of the discs. Each film contains all the original extras included in their original releases. Each film includes an audio commentary track by one of Arrow’s go-to giallo experts- Tim Lucas on The Possessed, Travis Crawford on The Fifth Cord, and Troy Howarth on The Pyjama Girl Case. Each commentary track is highly informative, if a bit clinical, and offers scholarly insights for those that want a deeper dive. Giallo experts are well represented outside the commentaries with film critic Michal Mackenzie appearing twice, in interviews on both The Fifth Cord and The Pyjama Girl Case, and video essays by Richard Dyer and Rachael Nisbet on The Possessed and The Fifth Cord respectively. In addition to expert insights, each disc contains original trailers and lengthy interviews with cast and crew on each film totaling hours worth of first hand anecdotes. None of the supplements are stand out features in their own right but they all come together to create a meaty series of lectures on the three films in this collection.

Arrow Video’s previous giallo repackage, The Sergio Martino Collection, left something to be desired in its packaging. Giallo Essentials rectifies that mistake with a quality rigid box boasting brand new artwork, all held inside a windowed red slipcover. Each film is housed inside the box in its own clamshell case with the standard Arrow reversible sleeves. The only thing missing from the physical extras of the original releases are the booklets of essays included in their respective first pressings.

OVERALL

Giallo Essentials Red is a quality box set for both fans of the gialli and film enthusiasts looking for a broad sampling from across the genre’s history- That is assuming you don’t already own any of these releases. Much like last year’s Sergio Martino Collection, this is a repackaging of previous releases by Arrow which is a boon for anybody with a giallo sized hole in their collection to fill but in no way worth a double dip for any current owners of these three films.

Fossil and Razer have collaborated to launch a limited-edition smartwatch: the Razer X Fossil Gen 6 Smartwatch. The co-branded wearable leverages Fossil’s most innovative smartwatch platform to date, the highly anticipated Fossil Gen 6. It also features three exclusive Razer watch faces including Analog, Text and Chroma, as well as two stylish interchangeable straps. The Razer X Fossil Gen 6 will be launching globally this month for $329 in a limited quantity of just 1,337 units for purchase. The Gen 6 is the first smartwatch powered by the Snapdragon Wear ™ 4100+ Platform — providing users upgrades in speed and performance, including faster application load time, highly responsive user experiences, and more efficient power consumption. Doctor Who Crosses Over Into EVE Online – The Interstellar Convergence

CCP Games and BBC Studios have joined forces for EVE Online x Doctor Who, an original crossover event between the beloved action-adventure series Doctor Who and the free-to-play deep space-faring MMO EVE Online. Universes will collide as Capsuleers and Whovians face the Daleks together in massive space battles in EVE Online x Doctor Who starting 13 January until 1 February.

EVE Online is a free-to-play, community-driven spaceship MMO game where players can choose their own path among the stars from countless options, developed by CCP Games in Reykjavik. The game first launched in 2003 and has since gained recognition for its scale, complexity, and the world record-breaking exploits of its online community. EVE Online is one of the most critically acclaimed MMORPG intellectual properties (IPs) in time and space, and one of the most extensive works of science fiction in the world.

EVE Online x Doctor Who introduces new, Gallifrey-themed space where players will search for artifacts from Doctor Who’s Great Time War. The artifacts will provide players with clues to track down the infamous Daleks and face them in an interstellar battle of the ages. Players who survive the fight will reap unique rewards that they can take back to New Eden. Additionally, a login campaign with skill points and Doctor Who-themed items will be available to all players throughout the duration of the event.

EVE Online x Doctor Who is the first major collaboration for the spaceship MMO, reaching a new milestone in CCP’s journey to expand New Eden’s horizons and welcome fresh players into its storied universe. EVE Online has seen incredible growth over the course of 18 years, reaching more than 24 million active users in 2021. CCP recently overhauled EVE’s new player experience, making it a perfect time for rookie pilots to start their journey in EVE Online.

The new products span four different product lines, highlighting the latest in BenQ’s esports hardware, gaming monitors and projectors, as well as lighting technology.

During the event, BenQ will present two new gaming monitors, 32-inch EX3210U and 34-inch ultrawide EX3410R, as part of its MOBIUZ line of monitors which debuted last year. Built for those who crave both speed and image quality, the EX3210U 4K 144Hz HDMI 2.1 gaming monitor, with a sleek new white rear cover, is designed to deliver. With 98% P3 coverage for vivid color performance, BenQ’s exclusive HDRi image optimization technology and high-quality speakers, the EX3210U offers a fully immersive gaming experience.  BenQ is also announcing the EX3410R, a 1000R curved monitor that offers an incredible, expanded field of view and depth perception.
