Achilles: Legends Untold Early Access Trailer

Dark Point Games’ first game Achilles: Legends Untold is set to launch into Early Access on May 12th this year.

“Thousands of people played and enjoyed the beta earlier this year and thanks to their feedback we were able to really fine-tune the experience. We cannot wait to start our path into Early Access and hope that our players will follow our journey every step of the way” said Pawel Waszak, CEO and Lead Game Designer.

Achilles: Legends Untold is an isometric action-RPG, greatly inspired by the souls-like genre and old-school hack & slash games. Players will have to rely on Achilles’ raw power to overcome legendary characters and creatures from Homer’s Iliad, while taking in Ancient Greece through rich lore and environmental storytelling as they make their way to the gates of Troy and beyond.

As the studio wanted to create an easy-to-learn-but-hard-to-master-experience, the combat is designed with souls-like tactics in mind, without letting it become a barrier to newer players. This way, Achilles: Legends Untold may be enjoyed by Souls veterans and new players alike.

For those who prefer fighting side-by-side with friends, the game also provides a robust co-op experience with procedurally generated dungeons to explore, allowing you and your friends to hone their skills even further.

The gameplay features satisfying and skill-based combat, RPG elements, and resource management. Collect raw materials to forge new deadly weapons and sturdy shields to take Achilles to the peak of his power. Become stronger and more ferocious with each ability you unlock and adapt to new challenges in the world, as Achilles is not the only one picking up new tricks along the way.

Achilles: Legends Untold features the innovative GAIA system, which means the AI characters’ actions feel lifelike and work together in unpredictable ways. Experience immersive battles in which monsters adapt to your playstyle, try different strategies or create ambush scenarios, all driven by this contemporary, in-house-designed system.

Achilles: Legends Untold will be available on Steam for $19.99 / EUR 18.99

Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector Necrons DLC Available Now

Slitherine Games and Black Lab Games are thrilled to announce that Warhammer 40,000 Battlesector’s first major DLC expansion, Necrons, will launch on April 21 st on PC and consoles. This forthcoming update expands upon the rich turn-based action by introducing the all-new Necrons faction.

After a sixty million year-long slumber, this army of ancient Xenos has joined the fight, giving players 14 new unit types to command. Each of these new units comes with its own unique weapons, skills, and gameplay mechanics to be used strategically in battle. The relentless attacks of Deathmarks and Hexmarks Destroyers will force your foes into hiding, whilst the Doom Scythe can rain pain from above with a flurry of deadly airstrikes.

The Necrons DLC coincides with a free update that contains the first version of the new Planetary Supremacy campaign. This single-player “conquest style” campaign sees three factions (the Blood Angels, Tyranids, and Necrons) battle it out to be the last group standing on a procedurally generated map. The update that arrives on April 21st will be the first iteration of the new campaign, as Black Lab Games plans to expand its offering in the future based on player feedback.

Players must own the Necrons DLC to be able to play as the Necrons faction in the Planetary Supremacy campaign. Ownership of the DLC isn’t required to battle against the Necrons in the Planetary Supremacy Campaign, Skirmish, or Multiplayer. A brand new trailer for the Necrons DLC can be viewed here.

Initially released on PC in July 2021, Battlesector is set within the iconic Warhammer 40,000 universe and sees players engage in strategic turn-based battles on a grid-based map. Since its release, Black Lab has built upon the game with releases on Xbox and Playstation, as well as two smaller expansions to its factions – Blood Angels Elites and Tyranids Elites.
Warhammer 40,000 Battlesector is available also on Game Pass PC and Xbox.

Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One Xbox One Version on Hold Due to Russian Invasion

Frogwares has announced that the PS4 version of their latest game,  Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One, will be released on Thursday, April 28th, 2022. Initially released on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in November 2021, the team had to make the tough decision to hold back the old gen versions for better optimization.

With the current war in Ukraine throwing much of the team into disarray and hybrid work, the more difficult choice was made to finalize the PS4 version and put the Xbox One version on hiatus indefinitely. Anyone who still has a Xbox One pre-order waiting can get a full refund.

A full statement regarding this choice has been provided by the studio and also published on social media

————————————–

Hello everyone, especially fans awaiting Sherlock Holmes Chapter One on PS4 and Xbox One.

As some of you have pointed out on our socials, we’ve been rather quiet on the PS4 and Xbox One versions of Sherlock Holmes Chapter One. The good news is that we will be releasing Sherlock Holmes Chapter One on PS4 on the 28th of April 2022. The bad news is that unfortunately, we had to make a tough decision on the Xbox One version of the game. Due to circumstances way outside of our control, the Xbox One version of Chapter One has been postponed indefinitely. Let us explain why.

From September of last year right until February of 2022, we worked hard on optimizing our game for PC and both old and current generation consoles. During that time we discovered that the scope of the work was bigger than assessed. So last year we made the decision to release the PS5 and Xbox series X|S versions first, and work on optimizing the old gen versions. After the validation of Chapter One on current-gen in October, we kept on working on optimizing the PS4 and Xbox One versions. We’ve tried to squeeze out as much from the old gens as possible. A lot of invisible work was done, but also as visible as changes to the map of the city on the PS4 and Xbox One versions so that the game could run smoother (we cut certain alleyways, shortcuts, etc). And as we were getting closer and closer to finalizing those versions, war happened.

To say that the war made an impact on us is probably the understatement of the decade. Keeping our personal and mental situation out of this, the war impacted us from a production point of view heavily. From where we stand now, with the resources and manpower that we have, we can release the PS4 version of Chapter One on April 28th. However, we have to postpone the Xbox One version.

To say we’re not happy about this is putting it subtly. We want to see our games on as many platforms as possible. We see that there are a lot of you waiting for the Xbox One version. We’re also disappointed because we’ve invested time and money in this version which is put on hold indefinitely. It’s also money lost from potential future income which is important for an independent studio like us.

If you’ve pre-ordered the Xbox One version of the game, what now? Xbox is informed that you can cancel your order, and get a full refund. We know it’s not the outcome you wanted, but we hope that at least this shed some light on what happened.

Once again, thank you all for your patience. And thank you all for your kind words and support. The fact that many of you even offered us a place to stay in your homes is beyond “wow”. And as always, any comments or questions, post away. We will try to answer as fast and as many of them as we can – life is a bit strange at the moment.

Until next time,

Your Frogwares Team

Aircraft Carrier Survival Out Now

Independent developer CreativeForge Games is releasing Aircraft Carrier Survival, a simulator set in World War II on Steam today.

If you like war themed games, Aircraft Carrier Survival, puts you in charge of an aircraft carrier, its crew, officers and planes as you choose the right equipment, crew, and escort for each mission. Your success will depend greatly on your flexibility in managing the available fleet resources.

You must focus on taking the best decisions to survive in a hostile environment in the middle of the ocean. Use maneuvers, aircraft, anti-aircraft turrets, and whatever else you can to survive the enemy attack.

Currently, a free-to-play Tutorial of Aircraft Carrier Survival is available on Steam.

Manage crew and officers

Assign a crew and choose what your officers should focus on. Your ship has many stations to man, and proper management will be the key to executing your plan, whether by taking on an enemy directly, sneaking past them, or taking an alternative route to completely avoid contact.

Damage control

Your damage control teams can handle fire outbreaks, torpedo strikes, hull flooding, enemy bombardment, airstrikes, and suicide attacks from enemy planes, but not all of them at once. Assess which threats need to be dealt with first in order to survive.

Survive and fight back

Use maneuvers, aircraft, anti-aircraft turrets, and whatever else you can to survive the enemy attack. Make sure that any enemy who dares to attack you will end up in the depths of the Pacific.

Hard decisions

Will you risk all lives on the vessel to save the one in need? Do you have what it takes to make a decision on the spot? No matter what, some sacrifices will be necessary and the only source of redemption is victory.

Mission planning

Use intel collected during recon missions to prepare pilots and aircraft for large operations. Target enemy land bases and even their entire fleets. Identify opponents before choosing attack directions and deciding the sequence of targets and maneuvers.
