Aliens: Dark Descent Launch Trailer

Today Tindalos Interactive and Focus Entertainment, in collaboration with 20th Century Games, are proud to announce the launch of Aliens: Dark Descent, a strategic, real-time, squad-based tactical action game set in the iconic Alien universe. A new spine-tingling launch trailer has also dropped, leading the way for fans to learn more about the Xenomorph threat that lurks on Planet Lethe. Aliens: Dark Descent is available now on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC globally.

In Aliens: Dark Descent, players command a squad of hardened Colonial Marines as they attempt to stop a terrifying new threat on Planet Lethe. Led as one unit with intuitive controls on keyboard and mouse as well as on controller, the squad takes on real-time combat against iconic Xenomorphs, rogue operatives from the insatiable Weyland-Yutani, and a host of horrifying creatures new to the Alien universe. Using a range of tactical abilities, players will unravel an authentic Alien tale full of sinister secrets, diving in and exploring the horrors and wonders of a cinematic narrative campaign.

As they infiltrate large open levels and annihilate enemies with their squad, players can use comms to dispatch orders that will be swiftly obeyed by the Marine best equipped for the situation. They will need to use their wits to navigate the game’s expansive, persistent, reactive levels and complete objectives. Being cautious and monitoring each Marine’s vitals is essential, for death is permanent for any who fall in combat.

Players can find refuge in their base — the stranded Otago spacecraft. There they can customize their squad with a selection of different Marine classes. Level up and specialize each soldier with unique abilities and an arsenal of weapons, armor, and perks. Players can also treat wounds and trauma, as well as research new tech to improve their squad even further.

Aliens: Dark Descent is available now on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC. For more information, visit the Focus Entertainment website.

Meet Your Maker Sector 1: Dreadshore Trailer

Independent Canadian game developer Behaviour Interactive is excited to reveal its first major content update for Meet Your Maker which will be available June 27 on all platforms. Sector 1: Dreadshore will introduce a new environment and expand the game’s toolbox of traps, guards, weapons, suits, and blocks to give players more ways than ever to engineer or evade death. To celebrate the launch of this game-changing content, the Meet Your Maker team will offer players the chance to claim the DLC’s Arsenal Pack for free during the first two weeks following release, until July 10 11:59PM EDT.

“Our team is incredibly excited by the positive reception of our most recent game. More than 1 million players have already experienced Meet Your Maker and built millions of amazingly creative Outposts across the wasteland,” said Senior Creative Director Ash Pannell. “Since launch, player creativity has been off the charts and we’re thrilled to now be giving our community even more twisted tools to push the limits of their imagination.”

Build and raid in a completely new environment

The new DLC will enhance the game’s co-op and single-player experience with a foggy, menacing new environment for players to immerse themselves in. Far from the Red Sands, on the murky remains of the New England coastline lies Dreadshore, home to a sinister Sanctuary situated in a repurposed lighthouse. Beneath its surface, a vast network of prisons and laboratories were built where unspeakable scientific experiments were conducted on hundreds of captive clones.

This new environment, with its gloomy, oppressive coastal flourishes, will be visually unlike anything seen before in Meet Your Maker. It arrives with a new themed Deco Pack, and an Arsenal Pack which includes a new Custodian, trap, guard, and weapon:

1. NEW DECO PACK: Tempest Cove

Players will be able to build Outposts using a brand-new free deco pack that matches the visual themes of the Dreadshore. Rusted metal railings, water-damaged wood, bellows that fill and deflate, and a set of decals featuring the salt-worn designs of a coastal shelter will give Builders the freedom to create a completely new atmosphere for their Outposts.

2. NEW CUSTODIAN: Nautilus

A Custodian suit with disturbing origins tied to the Dreadshore will also be available to players. According to local urban legend, Nautilus was said to have emerged from the lighthouse Sanctuary, dripping blood, wearing what resembled an ancient diving suit. With its hulking profile, this new Custodian suit enhances the effects of defensive weaponry, giving players a whole new way to approach challenging Outposts.

3. NEW TRAP: Sentry Beam

Builders will also gain a brand-new trap, complete with mods, that opens the door to incredible new kills and darkly-creative trap combos.

The Sentry Beam, developed to contain the lighthouse Sanctuary’s prisoners, uses motion tracking to lock onto a target and emit a narrow beam of super-heated amplified light. The trap’s rapid delivery makes it an excellent choice for engaging fast moving targets. Should the beam miss its mark, it will ricochet multiple times, providing even more opportunity for a kill.

4. NEW GUARD: Ravager

A vicious new guard, the Ravager, will be introduced for both Builders to command, and Raiders to contend with.

A disturbing byproduct of the lighthouse Sanctuary’s genetic experiments, The Ravager simultaneously fires several projectiles in a scattershot attack that’s more difficult to evade than a single bolt.

5. NEW WEAPON: Demolition Cannon

Raiders will gain another powerful weapon to add to their loadout when braving Meet Your Maker’s toughest Outposts. Powerful and portable, the Demolition Cannon delivers an explosive payload in a reusable shell for a localized blast that causes tremendous damage.

“We’re thrilled to bring all the exciting new Sector 1: Dreadshore content to Meet Your Maker,” added Pannell. “This new environment and all the tools that come with it are something we’ve meticulously crafted, and we can’t wait to see how players react and adapt to the new gameplay elements we’re adding. We believe the new content will provide players with additional avenues to outsmart one another and maintain an invigorating and dynamic experience!”

This new update doesn’t just introduce fresh new ways to build and raid deadly fortresses, it also comes with several quality-of-life improvements and bug fixes to make Meet Your Maker even better:

  • For starters, the game will now recognize kills against Raiders who force quit or otherwise disconnect from the game, giving Builders a more accurate representation of how deadly their base is.
  • Another highly requested improvement gives Builders the ability to refill Prestige 10 bases forever and keep them online.
  • Other notable updates include a rebalancing of ranking tiers, updated tutorials, and Phoenix Pods being added to player’s inventory by default.

Launch details & community update

Sector 1: Dreadshore’s content will be available June 27 1PM EDT on Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox. For players who own the base game, they will get a chance to claim the DLC’s Arsenal Pack for free for the first two weeks following its release, until July 10 11:59 PM EDT. After this date, Sector 1 Arsenal Pack will be purchasable for $7.99 USD. Meet Your Maker is out now on Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox with an MSRP of $29.99 USD and an ESRB rating of M for Mature.

Invaders From Mars Now on 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD

Ignite Films, the Dutch company formed in 2005 by Jan Willem Bosman Jansen, lives up to its motto, “Classics for the Future,” with the award-winning sensational 4K restoration of William Cameron Menzies’ Invaders From Mars, the first title released under the Ignite Films label. The groundbreaking sci-fi classic will be released in partnership with MVD for retail sales in stores including Barnes & Noble, Best Buy, Target, Walmart, and through online retailers including Amazon.com, on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD on July 11, 2023, with
pre-orders open now, announced Jan Willem Bosman Jansen, founder of Ignite Films.

“Following the successful launch on our website of our first release on the Ignite Films label in January 2023, we are excited to announce our partnership with MVD to invade US retail and Amazon, and more widely share our new 4K restoration of ‘Invaders from Mars’ with earthlings, both new fans and old,” said Jan Willem Bosman Jansen.

The must-have restoration for all Invaders From Mars fans, both Earthlings and Martians alike, features spectacular special bonus features on the 4K UHD and Blu-ray versions, including a restored 4K version of the original 1953 trailer and a newly commissioned 2022 remix of the trailer, an interview with the film’s star, Jimmy Hunt, an in-depth look at the restoration process led by Scott MacQueen, Restoration Supervisor, plus a new featurette about the film featuring interviews with directors Joe Dante (Gremlins), John Landis (An American Werewolf in London), multiple Visual Effects Academy-Award winner Robert Skotak (Aliens, Terminator 2: Judgement Day), and other luminaries. The DVD version does not include bonus materials.

The response to the love and attention to detail given to the restoration has been overwhelmingly positive. The restoration process was spearheaded by renowned film preservationist Scott MacQueen, former Head of Preservation at the UCLA Film & Television Archive. MacQueen and Jansen, of Ignite Films, literally scoured the planet to locate any and all materials to help ensure the restoration was as complete and true to the original as humanly possible. The 4K restoration of INVADERS FROM MARS recently won the inaugural Hollywood Professional Association (HPA) Jury Award for Restoration and Preservation, and the prestigious Rondo Awards for Best Blu-ray and Best Restoration.

Fearful memories of this timeless 1953 bone-chiller still haunt the dreams of fans who have never forgotten the story of David MacLean, a young boy (Jimmy Hunt) who witnesses an alien invasion. Invaders from Mars was filmed from a child’s point of view, using
exaggerated sets and upward angles. It became a modern classic and was also one of two early 50s classic alien-invasion science fiction films (the other is Robert Wise’s The Day the Earth Stood Still) reflecting Cold War tensions, the Red Scare and paranoid anxiety typical of many films in the 50s.

Invaders From Mars stars Jimmy Hunt, Helena Carter, Arthur Franz, Morris Ankrum, Leif Erickson, and Hillary Brooke.

The 4K restoration was initially released exclusively by Ignite Films via direct sales on their website in January 2023, with a special slip-cover collectors edition of the 4K UHD still available there for collectors, along with other exclusive merchandise, including a limited-run autographed poster by the film’s star, Jimmy Hunt. The Big Pieces Company is supporting the release in the US and overseeing international sales.
