The LA Haunted Hayride Returns for 2022

Killer Klowns from Outer Space: The Game Announced

Video game publisher Good Shepherd Entertainment and leading entertainment studio Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) have revealed an ambitious and unexpected entry into the multiplayer horror genre: Killer Klowns from Outer Space: The Game, a new 3v7 asymmetrical online multiplayer game inspired by MGM’s 1988 cult horror classic film. When murderous alien Klowns come to feed on the quiet town of Crescent Cove, the locals must work together to fight back and survive the invasion. Players can team up as either Klowns or humans, choosing from a variety of character classes, to explore an expansive, ever-changing map with creepy surprises waiting around every corner.

Developed by Teravision Games, this playfully panic-inducing action experience faithfully recreates the atmosphere of the iconic movie and aims to stir up the asymmetrical multiplayer horror genre in multiple ways. The game is being developed as a live-service title, with multiple content updates planned for post-launch, and is expected to release early 2023 on Steam, PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation®4 and Xbox One.

The Cemetery Lane Trick-r-Treat Experience Returns for 2022

The Cemetery Lane trick-r-treat experience returns to Heritage Square Museum in Los Angeles for select dates between October 19-30, 2022. Costumed visitors of all ages will make their way from home to home in the safely gated ‘neighborhood’ of Heritage Square Museum’s Victorian manors, which have been reimagined into a Halloween night from an era when the Addams Family, the Munsters and residents of the Twilight Zone joined millions of 1950’s and 1960’s American families in their homes each week.

“This year, guests will step back into the ‘50s and ‘60s when pop culture became obsessed with monster movies, as well as fascinated with the ‘horror hosts’ who permeated television airwaves late at night,” said David Markland, event Creator and Co-producer.

The mid-century theme of this year’s Cemetery Lane will transport guests young and old to a time when horror comics and magazines like Famous Monsters of Filmland flew off the shelves, and the real-life fears generated by the Cold War caused many a nightmare.

After a completely sold out event for its first year in 2021, Cemetery Lane has expanded to two weekends, with hourly timed ticketing including daylight hours on Saturdays and Sundays so the younger ghouls and boils will have plenty of time to fill their candy buckets before darkness falls and the eeriness intensifies in the neighborhood of Cemetery Lane.

Guests should expect a 45-minute to one hour immersive experience, including 13 trick-r-treat stops, character interactions, photo-ops, a selection of spooky vendors to shop from, and a curated selection of food trucks, along with other surprises.

Cemetery Lane is resurrected by David Markland (Co-Founder and Executive Director of Midsummer Scream) and Claire Dunlap (Co-Founder/Supervising Producer of Midsummer Scream and Co-Creator/Producer of Spooky Swap Meet), with decor and effects provided by Jeff Schiefelbein (creator of Sinister Pointe Haunted Attraction).

Tickets go on sale Saturday, August 27 at 9 a.m PST. Admission cost before 6 p.m. is $27 and from 6 p.m on is $32. Toddlers two years and under, not trick-or-treating, are admitted for free.

Dead Island 2 Gameplay and Announcement Trailers Hit the Web

Publisher Deep Silver and developer Dambuster Studios unveiled Dead Island 2 with an incredible CGI trailer showcasing the brand-new zombie adventure’s take on humor in the apocalypse during Gamescom’s global livestream event Opening Night Live.

Revealed along with the CGI trailer is the first official Dead Island 2 gameplay trailer. Including actual game footage, the trailer sets the scene for what’s to come and introduces players to the variety of stunning gore-drenched locations and a cornucopia of zombified Los Angelinos.

Dead Island 2 is a first-person action-RPG set in a glorious sun and blood-drenched setting – a hellish, yet stylish and vibrant, gore-ridden version of Los Angeles, nicknamed HELL-A. Hogwarts Legacy – Sebastian Sallow’s Dark Legacy Trailer

Warner Bros. Games revealed an all-new trailer for Hogwarts Legacy, the upcoming open-world, action role-playing game in development by Avalanche Software, scheduled to launch Feb. 10, 2023. The “Sebastian Sallow’s Dark Legacy” gameplay trailer showcases some of the darker elements players will encounter, including a closer look at the game’s more dangerous locales, sinister foes and fearsome magical creatures lurking in the shadows. Focusing on one of Hogwarts Legacy’s optional companion questlines with Sebastian Sallow, the trailer also provides a glimpse at the Unforgivable Curses and difficult dilemmas players will face as they learn more about the Sallow family’s mystery and decide whether to engage with, or even embrace, the Dark Arts.

Blackbird Interactive, the title’s developer, raised the stakes of Homeworld’s iconic scale and artistry by fully realizing their original vision, 20 years in the making, of elegant cinematic combat in space. The epic scale and grandeur of Homeworld has returned with even bigger environments to contend with new mechanics that expand the gameplay experience, and a dramatic story full of the compelling emotional resonance the series is known for.

Homeworld 3 takes advantage of the latest technology to add a new element to the series’ familiar 3D RTS gameplay including Cover-based Tactics, massive strategic terrain and considerable improvement to overall UI and UX design. Players must form new strategies and use new environmental obstacles like colossal ancient megaliths, dangerous asteroid fields, and massive derelict wreckage as cover or to hide movements from enemies. Homeworld 3 also offers up fresh strategic challenges with its physics-based ballistics simulation that makes the space combat feel more real than ever before.

Homeworld 3’s campaign explores an all-new story in the Homeworld series that takes place long after the golden age of galactic trade and exploration was unlocked by Karan S’Jet upon the discovery of an ancient hyperspace gate network. A new threat to the galaxy known as The Anomaly has started to spread its darkness and has begun to swallow gates and planets alike. Now Imogen S’Jet, Karan’s successor, is the only one who holds the key to solving the mystery threatening the galaxy’s future. In addition to the campaign, Homeworld 3 also features a robust multiplayer experience as well as the new cooperative roguelike mode which fuses Homeworld’s strategic gameplay with roguelike challenge and progression.

The Game Awards Return on December 8

Celebrate the best of video games and see what’s next when THE GAME AWARDS returns live on Thursday, December 8 from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

Today The Game Awards announced the first details of its 9th annual show, which will stream for free worldwide across more than 40 different digital video platforms including YouTube, Twitch, Twitter, Facebook and TikTok Live. Last year’s show delivered a record-setting 85 million global livestreams, making The Game Awards one of the Internet’s largest livestream events.

New for 2022, The Game Awards will introduce Best Adaptation, a category to recognize creative work that authentically adapts video game intellectual property to other popular media, including but not limited to theatrical movies, streaming shows, podcasts, novels, and comic books.

Last year at The Game Awards, Jim Carrey and Ben Schwartz world premiered the first trailer for the movie Sonic 2 from Paramount Pictures, and the first full trailer debuted for the Halo series from Paramount+.

“The Best Adaptation Award is a way for the gaming industry and its fans to tip its hat to creative work that authentically adapts and often adds lore and context to our favorite gaming franchises,” said Geoff Keighley, creator and executive producer of The Game Awards. “With so many game-inspired projects across entertainment, the time is right to honor excellence in adapting video game worlds to other mediums.”

The Game Awards will bring together the biggest names in gaming and popular culture to celebrate the best games of 2022 and preview the future of the medium with spectacular new game announcements and world premieres. The show will once again feature musical performances including the return of The Game Awards Orchestra, conducted by Lorne Balfe.

IMAX will partner with the show to create The Game Awards: The IMAX Experience, a LIVE community event in cities around the world to experience The Game Awards. Additional details on The Game Awards: The IMAX Experience will be announced in the coming months.

Archie Halloween Spectacular One-Shot Announced

Halloween is about to get a little bit spookier (and a little bit sweeter) when Archie Comics welcomes Trick and Treat to its stable of holiday-themed magical characters in October! The two Halloween imps will make their first appearance in the collectible one-shot comic book, ARCHIE HALLOWEEN SPECTACULAR #1, in a new lead story by writer Ian Flynn and artist Ryan Jampole.

In the story, Trick and Treat – who represent the scary side and the sweet side of Halloween, respectively – try to prove which part of Halloween is the most important, with Archie and the rest of the Riverdale gang suffering the consequences!

“Trick and Treat may be new characters, but they’d feel right at home with the classic creations,” Flynn said. “Since they’re the spirits of Halloween, I wanted to make sure neither of them was the ‘good one’ or the ‘bad one.’ They’re both about fun and enjoying the holiday, but they both have a bit of a naughty streak. I hope folks enjoy them, and we get to see more of them in the future.”

The characters were designed by Archie Comics Art Director Vincent Lovallo, who took inspiration from similar magical characters in the Archie Comics roster who appear in fan-favorite holiday-themed stories every year.

“Editor-in-Chief Mike Pellerito had a few initial ideas in mind with the ultimate goal to have them be our go-to Halloween mascot characters, similar to Jingles the Elf or Sugar Plum the fairy from previous Christmas stories,” Lovallo said. “Their proportions needed to be similar to those characters, but with more of a Funko Pop or Chibi design, and they would be a play on the classic concept of an angel or devil on a person’s shoulders. However, despite those attributes, both characters are equally spirits of Halloween, so naturally, they can get pretty scary if they need to with their shape shifting abilities.”

Artist Ryan Jampole, who drew the debut story, said, “What I really enjoy about them is because they are spirits, they are really rubbery and expressive and it allowed me a lot of freedom to stretch and squash them into all sorts of goofy poses. It was a lot of fun to draw that alongside the slightly more grounded Archie characters.”

The comic will publish alongside a complete slate of Halloween-themed digest comics throughout the weeks leading up to the holiday, all featuring brand new stories and classic reprints from throughout Archie’s 80-year publishing history.
