Gearbox Software and Gunfire Games Announce Remnant II

Gearbox Publishing and Gunfire Games have announced Remnant II, the sequel to the best-selling game Remnant: From the Ashes, a third-person action-survival shooter that pits the last remnants of humanity against the harrowing forces of evil. Remnant II evolves the co-op survival shooter with new unseen worlds filled with deadly surprises and encounters. Join the battle to save humanity in a dynamically generated world filled with branching quest lines, unique loot, and overwhelming odds that encourage exploration and replayability either alone or in three-person co-op. Players will define their own playstyle with an expanded Archetype class system and a wide assortment of guns, armor, and special augmentations as they overcome hard-fought challenges to stave off humanity’s extinction. Remnant II will be available on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC in 2023.

Remnant II plunges players deeper into a devastated world requiring a mix of methodical and frenetic ranged and melee combat against cunning enemies and punishing boss battles. Enter the fray as a lone-wolf or even the odds by teaming up with two friends to overcome daunting challenges. Each time players start a new playthrough of Remnant II they will be brought into a new world built from a wide pool of locations, enemies, NPCs, bosses, and weapons. These dynamically built levels allow for unique experiences as elements are woven organically into the world and narrative.

An updated Archetype system gives players more flexibility to their play style and lets groups better sync unique passive abilities and stunning powers together in co-op play. Multiple Archetypes can be unlocked, leveled up, and equipped together for a wider variety of play styles.

“It is awesome to once again partner with Gunfire Games on this highly anticipated sequel,” said Yoon Im, president of Gearbox Publishing San Francisco. “The studio’s passion for the Remnant franchise and their expertise at crafting compelling worlds along with engaging combat scenarios shines through in Remnant II. The game will be challenging and punishing, but most importantly, so much fun!”

“We are excited to delve back into the world of Remnant with the team at Gearbox Publishing,” said David Adams of Gunfire Games. “There are so many interesting stories to tell, vicious enemies to vanquish, exciting loot to grab, Archetypes to experiment with, and heart-pumping action for players to experience with their friends. We can’t wait for everyone to play it next year.”

Hammerstone Studios Partners with Kojima Productions on Death Stranding Movie

Hot on the heels of announcing DEATH STRANDING 2 (Working Title) at The Game Awards, gaming auteur Hideo Kojima’s KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS has partnered with Barbarian executive producer Alex Lebovici’s Hammerstone Studios to develop and produce an adaptation of the critical and commercial hit videogame franchise “DEATH STRANDING.”

The plot for the project, which marks the first ever feature adaptation for KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS, is being kept under wraps but will introduce new elements and characters within the “DEATH STRANDING” universe. It is on the fast track with development underway.

Kojima, under his KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS banner, and Lebovici, under his Hammerstone Studios banner, will develop and produce, with Hammerstone also fully financing. KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS US and Allan Ungar will executive produce.

“I couldn’t be more excited about this new partnership with Hammerstone Studios,” said Hideo Kojima. “This is a pivotal moment for the franchise and I’m really looking forward to collaborating with them in bringing DEATH STRANDING to the big screen.”

“We are thrilled and honored to have the opportunity to partner with brilliant and iconic Hideo Kojima on his first film adaptation,” said Lebovici. “Unlike other big budget tentpole video game adaptations, this will be something far more intimate and grounded. Our goal is to redefine what a video game adaptation could be when you have creative and artistic freedom. This film will be an authentic “Hideo Kojima” production.”

The DEATH STRANDING franchise has connected with over 10 million ‘porters’ worldwide since its original launch on PlayStation®4 in 2019. Featuring an all-star cast including Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen, Léa Seydoux, Guillermo del Toro and Margaret Qualley, DEATH STRANDING challenges players to reconnect a fractured society after the cataclysmic ‘Death Stranding’ event. This has opened a doorway between the living and the dead, leading to creatures from the afterlife roaming the fallen world marred by a desolate society. Carrying the disconnected remnants of humanity’s future in his hands, players embody “Sam Bridges” as he embarks on a mission to deliver hope to humanity by connecting the last survivors of a decimated America.

KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS announced last week at The Game Awards that DEATH STRANDING 2 (Working Title), the highly anticipated sequel to DEATH STRANDING, is officially in development for Playstation®5. The latest title will be produced, written, directed and designed by Hideo Kojima himself. To mark the announcement, the studio has released an official teaser trailer which can be viewed via the studio’s website: https://www.kojimaproductions.jp/en/DS2-announcement#m-scroll-target

Hideo Kojima is a world-renowned game creator and auteur known for pushing the boundaries of the video game medium. Widely considered the father of the stealth genre, he is also credited with innovating both story-telling and cinematic presentation in video games at large. In 2020, Hideo Kojima received the BAFTA Fellowship, the highest accolade bestowed by BAFTA upon an individual in recognition of exceptional contribution to film, games or television.

Lebovici has been quietly amassing a string of buzzworthy films, including the critical hit Barbarian, starring Georgina Campbell, Bill Skarsgard and Justin Long, which took over $45M in worldwide box-office and Bill & Ted Face the Music, the third installment of the beloved series starring Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter. He recently wrapped production on the genre-busting dystopian fever dream Boy Kills World, which he produced alongside Sam Raimi and Roy Lee and starred Bill Skarsgard. Lebovici is also in post-production on the feature adaption of the smash hit short film Kung Fury the Movie starring Michael Fassbender, Arnold Schwarzenegger and David Sandberg and on Yuval Adler’s Sympathy for the Devil starring Nicolas Cage and Joel Kinnaman.

Killer Klowns from Outer Space: The Game Theme Revealed

The main theme of Killer Klowns from Outer Space: The Game is based on the iconic ‘Klown March’, elevated by modern synths and hardcore guitar riffs. The game’s music is composed by the legendary John Massari, who created the original movie’s soundtrack as well.

Killer Klowns from Outer Space: The Game is a 3v7 asymmetrical multiplayer horror game based on the iconic 1988 cult horror classic film. When murderous alien Klowns come to feed on the quiet town of Crescent Cove, the locals must work together to fight back and survive the invasion. Players can team up as either Klowns or humans, choosing from a variety of character classes, to explore an expansive, ever-changing map with creepy surprises waiting around every corner.

Developed by Teravision Games, this playfully panic-inducing action experience faithfully recreates the atmosphere of the iconic movie and aims to stir up the asymmetrical multiplayer horror genre in multiple ways. The game is being developed as a live-service title, with multiple content updates planned for post-launch, and is expected to release in 2023 on Steam, PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation®4 and Xbox One.

Pathfinder Infinite Community Content to be Officially Supported on Roll20

Roll20® and Paizo Inc. are excited to announce they’ve reached an agreement to support Pathfinder Infinite community content officially on the Roll20 virtual tabletop.

Pathfinder Infinite launched in 2021, allowing fans of the Pathfinder and Starfinder roleplaying games to publish their own adventures and game supplements for other fans of the games.

With this new agreement regarding Pathfinder Infinite, community creators will be able to convert or create content for play on the Roll20 virtual tabletop. Starting in February, they will be able to sell that content directly on the Pathfinder Infinite site so that it unlocks for users on Roll20, providing additional value for both creators and fans on both platforms. Creators can begin preparing content on Roll20 now in anticipation of the February launch.

“Roll20 lets people bring their love for Pathfinder into their games online; meanwhile, Pathfinder Infinite creators can channel their creativity into digital sales. By combining these capabilities, we have closed the circle: Now creators can build content specifically for the virtual space where people are already playing and support themselves financially at the same time,” said Scott Holden, Director of Marketing and Publisher Relations at Roll20.

Earlier this year, Roll20 and OneBookShelf announced their new joint venture, and since October of this year, both companies have been operating as one. The Roll20 virtual tabletop provides a full suite of easy-to-use digital tools so players can build characters and run campaigns seamlessly through their web browser. Through its family of premiere online marketplaces, Roll20 has been selling digital and print-on-demand roleplaying games, war games, comic books, and fiction since 2001.

“We are thrilled to see this intersection of Roll20’s virtual tabletop and the innovation of our Pathfinder Infinite and Starfinder Infinite content creators. This partnership gives creators even more options when crafting the exciting new rules options, adventures, and gaming accessories they already excel in,” said Mark Moreland, Director of Brand Strategy at Paizo.
