World of Tanks Blitz Celebrates 6th Anniversary

June 17, 2020 — Grab your party hats as World of Tanks Blitz has just turned 6 years old! To commemorate this milestone, update 7.0 releases today, which features graphical improvements, new high-tier British light tanks and in-game festivities. And the party will continue well into July when a brand-new game mode, Skirmish, will make its debut for a limited time only.

The big birthday bash kicks off with a special event where tankers will be tasked with hunting down a unique Tier VI tank, the P.43/06 Anniversario. Those who complete the event will be rewarded with a unique birthday player profile. The event runs from June 19th to June 29th. And there is even more to come as players can expect a series of festive goodies to celebrate their own anniversaries in World of Tanks Blitz!

The guest of honor for the festivities will be the arrival of a brand-new, time-limited game mode, Skirmish. Scheduled for release on July 9th, two teams of 5 will battle it out on smaller maps which are perfect for intense and dynamic confrontations. Players will need nerves of steel to be crowned victorious in this mode.

An ever-expanding game and hallmark of mobile combat games, World of Tanks Blitz is always striving for the best level of immersion possible. To achieve this, new graphical improvements are being introduced, such as gun recoil, dynamic shadows, vehicles leaving traces on the ground, different damage marks for each shell type and upgraded particle and waterline effects.

“With 137m downloads and over 27,000 different devices to support, it’s imperative that everyone can still enjoy the game after we make significant updates,” states Andrey Ryabovol, World of Tanks Blitz Product Director. “So, we added a graphical customization menu. This way players are free to choose what is turned on or off, and it gives them a greater control over their Blitz experience. We hope all our players enjoy the birthday celebrations and good luck on the battlefield!”

Also, as part of Update 7.0, three new high-tier British tanks will be rolling on to the battlefield:

  • FV 301, Tier VIII
  • Vickers Cruiser, Tier IX
  • Vickers Light 105, Tier X

The first top-tier light tanks to represent Her Majesty, these British beasts are researchable from the Tier VII medium, the Comet. These nimble scouts are swift with strong armor when compared to other light tanks in the game.

Razer Unveils THX Spatial Audio App

IRVINE, Calif. – Razer™, the leading global lifestyle brand for gamers, today announced the release of the Razer THX® Spatial Audio App for Windows 10. Featuring advanced 7.1 surround sound with adjustable virtual speakers for superior positional accuracy, the Razer THX Spatial Audio App enhances gameplay and is available for use with all headphones and earbuds. Now, every gamer can upgrade to the very best spatial audio experience, using their existing 3.5mm, Bluetooth or USB headphones.

“Together with THX, we have developed an immersive audio solution that addresses the core gamers’ needs – dynamic and accurate positional audio,” said Alvin Cheung, senior vice president of Razer’s peripherals business unit. “We’ve achieved this by drawing on THX’s cinematic audio expertise, then adding a wide range of customization tools, to fine tune and personalize the listener’s soundscape.”

“THX is pleased to work with Razer to offer our THX Spatial Audio technology to enhance the gaming experience,” said Jason Fiber, senior vice president and general manager of THX Ltd. mobile technologies. “It also provides for more true-to-life sound when enjoying music and movies.”

Accurate Positional Sound for the Best in Gaming Audio

THX Spatial Audio delivers one of the most authentic positional audio experiences, even from stereo sources, thanks to THX’s advanced rendering engine. Traditionally, surround sound systems require a multi-speaker audio source, but THX’s rendering engine is capable of producing a wider, positionally accurate soundscape from just two channels. Whether working with stereo, 5.1 or 7.1 sources, the output from THX’s engine, combined with the unique virtual speaker system, results in a more instinctively natural three-dimensional sound field, bringing games to life.

As any gamer will agree, locating opponents is often the difference between winning and losing. With the Razer THX Spatial Audio App, being able to pinpoint the location of threats solely based on their noise gives players an advantage over the competition. And this level of accuracy also reduces fatigue – no longer needing to strain to hear their opponents, gamers can play better, for longer.

Full Customization for a Personalized Surround Sound Experience

As THX knows from its years of experience in modelling 3D sound, everyone hears sounds differently and has their own preference for audio; volume, frequency and direction are unique to each individual. To deliver the most complete hearing experience, the Razer THX Spatial Audio App has a feature-rich suite of customization options, including speaker positioning, volume, and distance, to allow each user to tune the app precisely for their individual hearing preferences.

Users can further customize their audio for any game or media application to replicate the way creators intended for their content to be heard. Using the Equalizer section of the Razer THX Spatial Audio App, users can select from a range of THX Tuned Presets or modify, create, and store their own EQ settings for a personalized, rich listening experience. When a user wants to game, the THX positional audio engine provides accurate sound cues for the win, and when it’s time for some music, a quick switch of profiles in the Razer THX Spatial Audio App delivers room filling, immersive sound for a ‘so good it felt like being there’ experience.

Maximum Compatibility

The Razer THX Spatial Audio App for Windows 10 has been designed to work with all types and brands of headphones and earbuds, bringing the THX Spatial Audio experience to as many users as possible. Compatible with analogue 3.5mm headsets, USB and Bluetooth headphones, anyone can now upgrade their virtual 5.1, 7.1 or stereo audio experience with the Razer THX Spatial Audio App.

The Razer THX Spatial Audio App will also include an accompanying widget accessible via the Windows Game Bar for Windows 10 (Win + G) shortly after release, allowing for quick access to core features such as switching EQ profiles on the fly.

Revealed during  the Dead by Daylight fourth anniversary broadcast on May 26th, the Silent Hill chapter features a new map, Survivor and Killer. Players can look forward to exploring the new map:  Midwich Elementary School  –  a scene of unspeakable horrors.  The Silent Hill chapter also features a new  Survivor: Cheryl Mason, previously known as Heather, who, having freed herself from the religious cult  that had pursued her since birth, now must fight an eternal battle in the Entity’s realm.  Finally,  this chapter features a new Killer: the mythical Pyramid Head, known here as The Executioner, a sadistic and merciless killer fixated on dispensing punishment through pain. Never without his hulking blade in tow, Pyramid Head has stepped into the fog to fulfill his nefarious duty.

Silent Hill was first released in 1999 by Konami,  one of  Japan’s leading video game developers. The original horror story tells the tale of the doomed town of Silent Hill, trapped in the throes  of cult-induced supernatural forces.

“For our 4th anniversary, we are partnering with Konami to bring Silent Hill into Dead by Daylight”, notes Mathieu Côté, Game Director on Dead by Daylight and Product Evangelist for Behaviour Interactive. “This is an intensely emotional moment for us, we are both incredibly humbled and filled with pride. Silent Hill is a cultural reference, a significant part of video games history and now it’s part of our game. You can see that love for the license in so many details of this chapter.”

“Silent Hill is such an iconic horror video game franchise and to have it be a part of Dead by Daylight is such a milestone for us”, mentions Dave Richard, Creative Director. “It was our greatest joy and challenge to do the Silent Hill universe justice. I am incredibly proud of the work we have done,  and the players’ responses have been beyond our expectations. Silent Hill broke records as our most played Chapter in the Public Test  Build! I can’t wait to see what our community at large will think of this Chapter – and I’ll be playing along with them!”

To celebrate the release of the new chapter, a limited offer, the Silent Hill Edition, will be available in digital stores. It will include the game, the Silent Hill chapter and a set of very rare outfits for Pyramid Head and Cheryl Mason.

For the first time, players will also have the opportunity to customize their character with a dedicated collection of outfits available in the in-game store, inspired by some of the most iconic characters from the Silent Hill series, such as Alessa Gillespie, Lisa Garland or Robbie the Rabbit.

Dead by Daylight boasts more than 23 million players globally across all platforms. On any given day, one million players step into the fog, whether on PC, console, or mobile. Since its release in 2016, the multiplayer game has become a place where cult classic horror survives and thrives, having welcomed legends from TV, movies and video games. The team regularly releases new content in the form of chapters, Archives tomes and frequent quality of life updates.

World of Tanks Will Introduce Crouching Strumtiger Limited Time Game Mode

June 15, 2020 — The anniversary activities continue to ramp up as World of Tanks’ 10th birthday nears in August. The newly launched Act III will introduce a fun limited-time game mode, “Crouching Strumtiger”, focused on the widely fiercely requested Sturmpanzer VI Sturmtiger. Players can also take on a new set of anniversary missions, which will reward them with the third act’s unique 3D style.

As late as 2015, developers were considering adding the Sturmtiger to the game, but due to its unique characteristics and features, there was not a natural fit for it in the tech tree. Players continued to request it, but it was never added into the game. Now, several years later, there still might not be a place for this German SPG in the formal tech tree, but that doesn’t mean it can’t make its way into World of Tanks in a unique and fun way.

For the first time ever, players will be able to get their hands on this legendary war machine, and the Sturmpanzer VI Sturmtiger is unlike anything tankers have ever seen before. This Tier X German artillery goes against the grain of the abilities its real-life counterpart is known for: an incredible agility will leave tankers stunned. Fear not the Sturmtiger retains the devastating firepower that’s typical for top-tier vehicles and amplifies it to a new level of damage and mayhem.

“The Sturmtiger is a wonderful piece of military vehicle history, but the real-life vehicle itself is rather unbalanced, which made it very hard to naturally fit in our game all those years ago,” states Dmitriy Trofimov, Game Designer for World of Tanks. “It’s armor would be comparable to Tier VII or VIII, but its gun caliber… well, it’s something special. At 38cm, it’s 14cm more than anything else in our game.”

These colossal beasts will battle it out in teams of 10 on 5 different maps: Ensk, Widepark, Tundra, Mines and Airfield. The Crouching Sturmtiger game mode will be available for one week only, running from 17th June through June 24th.
