Timelie Review

Urnique Studio and Milk Bottle Studio have released their new time-manipulating puzzle/strategy title Timelie and we recently finished up our playthrough via Steam on the PC platform. Timelie puts you in control of a young blonde girl and a tabby cat as they try to escape from a surreal lab-like environment populated by hunter robots. At the beginning of the game, the young heroine wakes up in a strange room all by herself. As the first several levels of the game go by, you will learn that she has several time-altering abilities. She can not only reverse time on objects that are destroyed (such as walkways) but she can also reverse time overall, allowing you to plan your movement through each map to avoid being seen by those aforementioned hunter robots.

Once her little kitty friend arrives, things go into high gear, with players having to manage the safety and actions of both of them! Making things more challenging is that the player needs to use both of the characters to complete some levels as certain openings are only large enough for the cat to navigate. Thankfully, the hunter robots each have a field of view cone that will dictate where they are scanning. As long as your characters stay out of that cone, they will not attack them.

As far as its story goes, Timelie is rather cryptic, leaving much for the player to decipher and put together. I have several theories about the game – but there is definitely an influence from Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Physically, she is quiet the depiction of the character and there is a lot of influence from Carroll’s epic – from larger-than-life chess pieces to a little tabby cat who shares in the adventure in time-bending strategy.

Visually, Timelie is a passable game that features a very atmospheric, if not somewhat generic level design. It will not be winning any next-gen graphics awards but that is not necessary for this type of game. Levels and objects are very polyhedral but that’s just part of the game’s art style. Timelie doesn’t feature any voice actors to speak of, but does feature a moody score that fits the game nicely.

Overall, Timelie is a challenging and rewarding puzzle game with intriguing gameplay and story. The game is available now on Steam on for the very reasonable price of $18.99 – or – $24.28 with a downloadable soundtrack. At around four hours of length, the game keeps things interesting while not wearing out its welcome.

Warhammer 40K Invades World of Warships

AUSTIN, TX (June 19, 2020) – Today Wargaming brings the gothic splendor of Warhammer 40,000 to World of Warships. Players can choose between different bundles containing themed ship skins, commanders with unique voiceovers, camouflages and flags from two of the biggest factions in the Warhammer 40,000 universe — Imperium of Man, a galaxy-spanning interstellar human empire; and Chaos, those devoted to serving the Chaos Gods.

On June 22, Warhammer 40,000 inspired bundles will also be coming to World of Warships: Legends available on Xbox and PS4.

Imperium of Man and Chaos will be represented through unique and dreadful ships helmed by their fearless commanders: Justinian Lyons XIII and Arthas Roqthar the Cold.

“As a Warhammer 40,000 fan myself, I’m very excited to finally see these epic themed ships in our ports. Their striking visual appearance paired with the dramatic voiceovers that will give you chills, promises to evoke the grim dystopian splendor of 40K. I have no doubts our players will enjoy playing these ships as much as we did while designing them, said Philip Molodkovets, World of Warships’ Executive Producer.

“After our extremely successful previous collaborations with World of Tanks: Blitz andWorld of Tanks we’re thrilled to work with Wargaming again. We’re big fans of World of Warships, and we can’t wait to see players celebrating Warhammer 40,000 in their games with these beautiful and authentic themes.” said Jon Gillard, Global Head of Licensing at Games Workshop.

World of Warships has had great success bringing various collaborations to life in its game without hurting the historical aspect or distracting players who prefer the standard game play. Providing a flexible system of filters, players can choose to customize their visual experience or, if they are not interested, turn it off completely. The collaboration with Games Workshop celebrates the unique visual style of their universe, but does not alter the gameplay.

Larian Studios Releases More Baldur’s Gate 3 Details

DUBLIN  June 18, 2020 — Larian Studios has talked more about Baldur’s Gate 3 today just ahead of D&D Live 2020: Roll w/ Advantage. Game Director Swen Vincke delivered a new look at gameplay while breaking down the results of months of iteration in a community livestream, showing off many of the content improvements and additions the team has made since PAX East 2020, some of which were made based on direct feedback from fans.

Last weekend during the Guerrilla Collective showcase, the team announced that the anticipated August 2020 early access release of Baldur’s Gate 3 is on track, despite setbacks caused by COVID-19. A community update video released last Saturday gives context about the current state of development and paved the way for today’s presentation.

Here’s some of the new changes and content shown in the stream:

  • The narrator that will lead players through the game has changed to present tense/second-person narration.
  • Changes have been made to the initiative system. Previous gameplay showed the side initiative, which has evolved over the past month. Characters with similar individual initiative can now be grouped together automatically, allowing players to try out combinations and align their attacks in a group initiative system. Other characters and enemies will have individual initiative.
  • Vincke showed the inspiration system for the first time. Inspiration points allow the player to reroll one of their dice — a very valuable tool for when the roll of the dice decides life and death. These points are awarded to the player for finding special solutions during their playthrough.
  • Reactivity to the player character: Vincke played as a custom character elf, showcasing how the world reacts to who you are and, more importantly, which decisions you have made in the past.

Between the original announcement a year ago and what was shown today prior to D&D Live 2020, Baldur’s Gate 3 is coming into shape, one which will continue to evolve as Larian works directly with the community during its early access campaign. The team is now fully focused on getting ready for the early access release in (maybe!) August 2020. Larian will have more to announce about the date, content and details of early access as August approaches.

DC Scripted Podcast Series Partnership with Spotify Announced

BURBANK, Calif. and NEW YORK (June 18, 2020) — In a collaborative and innovative effort to further increase premium content offerings for consumers, Spotify, Warner Bros. and DC (the home of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn, The Joker and many more iconic DC Super Heroes and Super-Villains) today announced a new multi-year deal to produce and distribute an original slate of narrative scripted podcasts, marking the first pact of its kind between the companies. Spotify, the world’s leading audio streaming subscription service, is committed to an annual slate of new dramatic and comedic podcasts that Warner Bros. will develop and produce. Under terms of the deal, Spotify will have a first look at original scripted narrative DC podcasts, including new shows based on the vast universe of premier, iconic DC characters. The initial slate of projects under the partnership will also tap into Warner Bros.’ broader collection of timeless titles for additional series. In addition to producing narratives based on existing characters and established franchises from across Warner Bros. and DC, the companies will also collaborate to create new programming from original intellectual property.

On the Warner Bros. side, the partnership will be managed through a cross-divisional effort led by Peter Girardi and Robert Steele, who will co-develop and produce the programming in collaboration with Spotify, which will be responsible for the marketing, advertising, and distribution of the shows exclusively on its platform. Girardi — Executive Vice President of Blue Ribbon Content and of Alternative Programming at Warner Bros. Animation — will serve as the creative lead, and Steele — Senior Vice President, Business Strategy and Operations, Warner Bros. Digital Networks — will spearhead strategic business aspects of the partnership for the Studio.

“As we continue to see explosive growth in podcasting around the world, we are thrilled to partner with Warner Bros. to build this slate of programming drawn from the worlds of DC and WB,” commented Dawn Ostroff, Chief Content and Advertising Business Officer, Spotify, who continued: “We could not be more excited to be working with Robert, Peter and the entire Warner Bros. and DC teams to deliver new exclusive stories to the more than 286 million Spotify users.”

“Warner Bros. has been synonymous with compelling and unforgettable storytelling for nearly a century, and we’re continuing to expand that legacy across all types of media platforms for our fans,” said Robert Steele and Peter Girardi, in a joint statement. “Spotify’s deep engagement with its consumers and commitment to prioritizing their podcast vertical makes them an ideal partner in this endeavor. We’re excited to bring beloved characters and franchises from DC and Warner Bros. into this new world and to use our storytelling prowess to redefine what’s possible in the scripted audio space.”

The agreement with Spotify continues Warner Bros.’ commitment to storytelling across all platforms and builds upon a January 2020 first-look deal WBDN announced with Rainy Day Podcasts — a new company formed by Jagged Films partners Mick Jagger & Victoria Pearman (“Shine a Light,” “Get on Up,” “Vinyl,” “Enigma”), producer Steve Bing (“The Polar Express,” “Marley,” “Neil Young: Heart of Gold,” “Shine a Light”), and Oscar®-nominated writer Josh Olson (“A History of Violence”) — to produce a slate of original narrative podcasts.

Slitherine Announces ICBM

Epsom,18th June 2020. Leading strategy game specialist Slitherine announces the third title joining the roster of its K-Project program. ICBM (Intercontinental Ballistic Missile) is a game inspired by the classic Cold War movie WarGames. In ICBM, players take control of a nuclear superpower and prepare it for the outbreak of a global nuclear war.

https://www.slitherine.com/game/icbm

  • Research or steal the world’s most advanced military technologies
  • Build bombers, stealth planes, and submarines to carry your payloads
  • Utilise intricate research trees and discover infinite options for warfare

In ICBM, players will attempt to maximize the destruction of their enemies with the best offensive strategy, all whilst limiting damages to their own Homeland cities.

Fight against advanced AI in single player or face up to 6 human opponents in online competitive mode. Form alliances, but remember that betrayal is always an option – like in the Cold War age, there are no reliable allies.

The race to arms will always run fast: each ICBM game can be played in less than half an hour. In this real-time strategy game, every player can adjust the game speed; slow down during deployment or while choosing the next development in the technology tree, and speed up while waiting to build missiles.

Even in the nuclear age, offense is the best defense. Sooner or later, the warheads will be launched. Will you and your country be ready?
