It boasts BenQ’s exclusive CinematicColor™ technology for more refined color reproduction, a high-performance speaker and a simple setup that makes the most of any space for an uncompromising big-screen experience.

From a captivating picture, to immersive audio, video game modes and installation flexibility, the HT2050A is a great choice for any home theater or entertainment room.”

Leicester, UK, 18th January – The old-school tycoon game is back but with a modern twist as Kasedo Games today announced that Rise of Industry, by Dapper Penguin Studios, is hitting Early Access on 9th February 2018.

The announcement follows a hugely successful spell in early Alpha, in which Rise of Industry became the top selling game of 2017 on Itch.io gathering an already devoted community and was subsequently voted into the top four realistic simulation games of 2017 on IndieDB.com.

“We’re so excited to finally be bringing Rise of Industry to Early Access after an amazing and very busy couple of years developing the game, pouring all of our talent, love and care” said Alex Mochi, CEO, Designer & Producer at Dapper Penguin Studios. “We want to hit the ground running in Early Access, and already having over 15000 people who have played the game means that we have been able to use their feedback to deliver the best game possible as we continue with development, making sure it ends up a genre classic”.

Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery Teaser Trailer and Details

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 18, 2018 – Today, Jam City, a Los Angeles based mobile games studio, in partnership with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, revealed new details for Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery – including the game’s first teaser trailer. Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is the first game in which players can create their own character and experience life as a Hogwarts student. In the roleplaying game, players will create a personalized student avatar, attend classes, learn magical skills, form friendships or rivalries with other students, and make pivotal decisions that will influence their character’s story arc as they traverse their years at Hogwarts and grow as a witch or wizard. The game will launch under Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment’s Portkey Games, a label dedicated to creating gaming experiences inspired by the magic and adventures of J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World.

Before launching this spring, the title will be introduced to fans at the upcoming A Celebration of Harry Potter event at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida from January 26-28. There, attendees will be able to go behind the scenes via two panels hosted by the Jam City team as well as visiting the Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery booth to receive exclusive swag, play the game, meet members of the game team, and experience other magical surprises.

“Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is a role playing experience about magic, friendship, and life as a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry,” said Chris DeWolfe, co-founder and CEO of Jam City. “We can’t wait to give fans a first look at the game at A Celebration of Harry Potter, and this spring players will be able to explore Hogwarts fully in their journey toward becoming a witch or wizard.”

The game is set in the time between Harry Potter’s birth and his enrollment at Hogwarts, when Nymphadora Tonks and Bill Weasley were students. The avatar customization system allows you to continually upgrade your avatar as you gain new expertise and magical skills – you can even choose your own pet. You will join one of the four Houses before progressing through your years at Hogwarts, participating in magical classes and activities such as Potions and Transfiguration. Building your skills will come in handy as you solve mysteries and go on adventures. As players improve their skills, they will unlock new locations, spells and other magical abilities.

Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery features both large plot arcs and smaller stories such as relationship quests. The game features a new encounter system in which player’s decisions in both actions and narrative impact their quests, and how other characters regard and interact with them. These choices will allow Harry Potter fans to create the legacy of the witch or wizard they want to become.

Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is licensed by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, developed by Jam City and will be released this spring for mobile devices under Portkey Games, the new label for gaming experiences inspired by the magic and adventures of J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World. The title will be available on the App Store, Google Play, and the Amazon Appstore. DONTNOD Presents Vampyr Episode 1 – Making Monsters

January 18, 2018  – DONTNOD Entertainment, developers of Vampyr, invites fans to their studio for a first insight into the creative process behind their upcoming action-RPG. In the first episode of this original weekly four-part webseries, produced and realized by the video department of Focus Home Interactive, DONTNOD unveils exclusive gameplay footage while delving into their signature approach and reasons behind putting players in the role of a predator. The three following webseries’ episodes will release weekly every Thursday.

In Episode I: Making Monsters, DONTNOD gives more information about Jonathan Reid, the doctor-turned-vampire that players will step into the shoes of in Vampyr. Freshly turned, Reid’s ‘condition’ unveils a dark new reality, thrusting him into a once-hidden society of wretched creatures like himself. Ancient Ekons plot from the shadows, terrifying Vulkods prowl the streets at night, and cursed Skals hide in the darkest places of the city.

Vampyr is set in 1918 London, with the city weakened by the recent World War I and ravaged by the Spanish Flu. This setting makes up an important part of Vampyr’s identity. DONTNOD will make players feel the duality that torments Dr. Jonathan Reid, giving them the freedom to choose who to sacrifice and who to save. Every killing has consequences, and it’s up to players to balance their need to feed and grow stronger, with the rapidly deteriorating city of London.

DONTNOD Presents Vampyr – Episode 1 is available to watch today, with three more 5-minute episodes released weekly every Thursday. For more information, visit the recently-relaunched Vampyr website.

Vampyr releases Spring 2018 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

CES 2018 Post-Mortem

It’s January and that means that we have once again paced up and down the halls of Consumer Electronics Show, CES, in Las Vegas. I have often thought that the show should be named the “Consumer Electronics Marathon” because you have to put in the miles of a marathon to get even the smallest glimpse of the show.  One day at CES, I walked nine and a half miles and I didn’t cover even a third of the space.  It is an amazing and massive show, one that truly should last more than one week but would cause so much pain that even the most able body would be suffering after much more time. It is even more so when you consider there are nightly parties which make it so that you hope for 5 or 6 hours a night and caffeine or energy drinks are on the limps of just about everyone who works a company. This year’s event saw Iggy Azalea walking the Monster Booth, Neil Patrick Harris speaking of childhood friends, and Joe Perry Of Aerosmith designing his own line of portables that are all about the treble for old school rock and roll.

The companies presenting at CES came by land, sea, and air as self-driving cars spun doughnuts in the parking lot, giant speed boats filled booths like chrome-covered beached whales, and drones designed to do everything from carry a camera to patrol your houses like a guard dog hovered about. In pevious years, a great amount of the North Hall was dedicated to camera cases but now it was taken over by tons of vehicles and vehicle additions.  South Hall became mostly the place for drone tech.  VR/AR tech wasn’t even kept in one location but was in two different casinos on the strip. TV tech wasn’t kept in the same place as well, with LG dominating a great space at LVCC and TiVo located next to C-Space, the speaking session stage.  Health and beauty tech was always kept in the same hall at the Sands but this year they spread out among the casinos.  I’m not complaining but rather pointing out that the show really should be lengthened and more care taken to make sure they are grouped more like previous years, it felt a lot more scattered this time.

Google had the most popular booth by far, with a giant pinball machine and just about everything Google has or makes was possible when the ball showed up and was cracked open.  The line was easily 90 minutes at times, which when you think about how little time you actually have at the convention is a remarkable amount of time and they had two that I knew of, I tried standing in one line but it was well beyond my disability to spend that much time in one spot.

The beast that really seemed to take the show was a gaming laptop from Razer called Project Linda, and it won a heck of a lot of awards. The most altruistic item I came across was from AFLAC of all places and deserves a write-up all its own. I got to pet their mascot duck and wow it was so soft and sweet!

I enjoy it every year even though my disability slows down my chances of seeing as much as I would like. CES only gets more amazing every year and I can’t wait to go back in 2019.

HunnieCon 2017 Post-Mortem

If you haven’t heard of HunnieCon before, don’t feel bad. I am constantly keeping an eye out for new conventions and, when this one appeared, I think my EIC might have been a bit skeptical because of the name sounding a lot like some sort of adult-oriented event.  However, the name actually derived from one of the largest League of Legends groups: the League of Hunnie, which still sounds a bit naughty.  Next year, it will be re-branded Gamerscon and most of the confusion will be clarified.

One room of the convention was solely for the LAN PCs setup for competitions.  Between rounds, players were welcome to challenge each other to different games games but the wiser ones seemed to just keep practicing the games waiting for their turn in randomly selected order.  Those who couldn’t make it to the event were able to watch and listen to the play-by-play, which were well-produced and I know at least a few people who watched the Twitch streams all day.  For those who weren’t there to challenge each other to League of Legends or Hearthstone battles, there was an opportunity to ask questions at a panel on cosplay costume-making Do’s and Dont’s featuring body positive cosplayer Momokun cosplay veteran Vamplette.  As is always a plus there were different costumes from one day to the next and people who were too shy to do it the first day stepped up and made it out on group courage the second day.

If this all wasn’t enough for you, there was k-pop tournaments all day where plenty of dancers walked away exhausted and with war wounds before the competitive parts even began.  Everyone had their favorites to root for and there was lots of cheering, hooting, and hollering and no boos yelled in the entire room.

At one point it got so laid back a giant game of Uno broke out on the floor and cosplayers traded in festive fineries for comfort clothes be cause no one wants to pop a top yelling Uno!  There was trivia as well and I wanted ALL the prizes.  Maybe I’ll get one next year.

Next year, calling the event Gamerscon should help get more people to the event, it was a lot of fun!
