Disney Celebrates Mickey Mouse’s 90th Birthday

BURBANK, Calif., March 1, 2018 – Today Disney announced the launch of a world-wide celebration honoring 90 years of Mickey Mouse. Since his big-screen debut in Steamboat Willie on November 18, 1928, Mickey has been the global ambassador for The Walt Disney Company. From the beloved Mickey Mouse Club to today’s Mickey Mouse cartoon shorts, Mickey’s optimistic outlook and endearing personality continue to delight fans around the world every day. The cross-company festivities will continue through 2018 and beyond and will include an exclusive fashion show, a new television special, a celebration at Disney parks and resorts and much more.

The party kicks off on March 7 with “The Happiest Show on Earth”—a runway fashion event featuring a Mickey-inspired collection designed by couture brand Opening Ceremony founders Carol Lim and Humberto Leon.   • Disney On Ice will salute Mickey as the “True Original” host of Disney On Ice since its inception in 1981 by creating Mickey’s 90th pre-shows for productions touring the United States, Europe, Middle East, Africa and Latin America.
  • Disney On Ice presents Mickey’s Special Celebration, a new production showcasing Mickey Mouse’s memories throughout the years, will launch in Japan in July 2018 and continue touring throughout the Asia-Pacific region until August 2019.
  • In France, 38 design and art schools will take part in “Mickey Is Art,” a unique contest in which students will craft works of Mickey, inspired by their favorite artistic movement. The winning designs will be displayed this summer in 12 major train stations in France and for sale this September at Galerie Glénat in Paris.
  • Disney store will continue to celebrate milestone moments for Mickey Mouse with the Mickey Mouse Memories Collection (launched Jan. 2018), a monthly, limited-release series of 12 collectible plush, mugs and cloisonné pins inspired by Mickey’s most memorable movie roles.
  • Disney Publishing Worldwide will introduce more than 30 titles globally as part of Mickey’s 90th, including books, arts & crafts and comics.

In addition, D23: The Official Disney Fan Club will be celebrating Mickey’s 90th throughout 2018:

  • D23 and the Walt Disney Archives, in partnership with Walt Disney Animation Studios, have commissioned legendary Disney animator Mark Henn to paint Mickey’s official 90th birthday portrait. Henn follows in the footsteps of artists such as Disney Legend John Hench, who crafted five of Mickey’s official portraits. Henn animated Mickey for Mickey’s Christmas Carol (1983) and is currently at work on Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2 (2018)The new portrait will debut on the cover of the fall issue of Disney twenty-three, a quarterly publication from D23.
  • This November, D23 will present Destination D: Celebrating Mickey Mouse, a two-day event at Walt Disney World Resort featuring panels, presentations and fun-filled entertainment.
  • This year’s annual D23 Gold Member gift is an exclusive box set of 23 special Mickey Mouse mementos—authentic reproductions of such treasured keepsakes as pages from the script of Steamboat Willie and a miniature animation cel from Parade of the Award Nominees (1932).

Mickey’s birthday is celebrated in honor of the release of his first theatrical film, Steamboat Willie, on November 18, 1928, at the Colony Theatre in New York City. #WarGames Season 1 Trailer and Launch Date

NEW YORK – Mar. 1, 2018 – Eko today announced that “#WarGames,” the interactive series that reimagines Metro Goldwyn Mayer’s (MGM) three-time Academy Award-nominated 1983 feature film, will launch online on March 14, 2018. Europa Universalis IV: Rule Britannia Release Date Announced

01 March 2018 – STOCKHOLM – Paradox Development Studio will release the newest add-on to the historical grand strategy classic Europa Universalis IV on March 20. Rule Britannia is an immersion pack that adds greater depth to the British Isles while adding new content for every nation including new approaches to technology and the early industrial revolution.

World of Warplanes Introduces Invasion and Attrition Game Modes

February 28, 2018 — Take to the skies in the six-week Operation Westwall event, kicking off March 2. Following in the wake of the greatly successful relaunch of World of Warplanes late last year, players can take two innovative modes for a spin—Invasion and Attrition Warfare—for Tier IV and higher warplanes.

Players can expand their tactics and experience the battle like never before in the new Invasion mode, which pits a defending side against an attacking force. At the start of battle, the defending team owns several sectors and must defend them while the other team’s mission is to capture those sectors before time runs out. After capturing each sector, the attacking team accrues additional time to assault the remaining the sectors in search of victory. Both teams have a limited number of respawns, so communicating with your teammates and playing smart is key.

Attrition Warfare missions are centered around destroying enemy aircraft and controlling sectors. The more sectors a team controls, the more important the loss of each aircraft is for an opponent. Attrition Warfare has no respawn limit.

Playing these new modes and completing battle missions will give pilots a chance to earn two brand-new Tier VIII vehicles: the Dornier Do 335A-1 Pfeil and the Curtiss XF-15C. The Dornier Do 335A-1 Pfeil was Germany’s fastest piston-engine aircraft, armed with devastating bombs. The Curtiss XF-15C was one of the US Navy’s fastest fighters and shooters of its time; only 3 such aircraft were built.

These new modes also launch with new maps inspired by real locations—Lighthouse and Winter War, so get prepared to master new challenges and air spaces. Winter War sees players tackle multiple altitudes in the dead of night so pilots need to keep their heads on a swivel to combat low visibility. It’s key to be extra cautious near heated occupation points that provide advantages to every craft, too.

Lighthouse transports players to a map rife with cloud cover and lashing rain. Smart players will use cover wisely to get the drop on opponents or drift above the downpour for an advantage in all-out dogfights.

H1Z1 Launches From Early Access with Auto Royale Game Mode

SAN DIEGO  Feb. 28, 2018 – Daybreak Games® today announced the official launch of H1Z1®, the original standalone battle royale game that sparked a worldwide phenomenon. H1Z1 is now available on Steam for Windows PC with a brand-new game mode, Auto Royale™, injecting high-octane vehicular mayhem into the genre.

“In 2016, we did something unheard of – we split a successful game into two products and introduced the world to the first standalone battle royale game. The next year, we created the first battle royale esports league and became the second esport to ever air on broadcast television. This year, we continue to push this young genre forward with the introduction of Auto Royale,” said H1Z1 General Manager Anthony Castoro. “Auto Royale doesn’t rinse and repeat what is currently available on the market; it turns the genre on its head with a fresh approach – arcadey, vehicle-only battle royale unlike anything anyone has experienced before.”

Inspired by H1Z1’s fast-paced vehicle play, the new game mode – Auto Royale – features up to 30 teams of four in a battle to be the last vehicle standing. Teams speed around the massive map looking for power-ups, weapons, ammo, fuel and health as they try to outshoot, outdrive and outlast the competition. The mode introduces two new vehicles to H1Z1, a sedan and an armored recon vehicle (ARV), as well as a variety of features to cause vehicular havoc, including ramps, landmines, oil slicks, turbo boosts, vehicle jumps, corrosive smoke and much more.

AUTO ROYALE GAME MODE HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Two New Vehicles: Players can choose from two vehicles in Auto Royale – sedan or ARV – both new to the game and only available in Auto Royale.
    • Sedan: Nimble car with faster acceleration and higher jump clearance, allowing skilled drivers to quickly evade enemies.
    • Armored Recon Vehicle (ARV): Offers more stability, making it easier to drive for new players, but has less turbo fuel efficiency.
  • New Weapons: The light machine gun (LMG), available only in Auto Royale, deals the most sustained damage of any gun in the game.
  • New Power Ups: Players pick up evasive, defensive and combat drops to throw opponents off their trail, heal themselves, or deal damage to enemy vehicles.
    • Drops include vehicle repair kits, environmental buffs, fire extinguishers, and vehicle armor.
    • Power ups include smoke screens, high-octane fuel, turbo boosts, and oil slicks.
    • Pick-ups include landmines and corrosive smoke.

Auto Royale is currently in beta and will continue to develop with feedback from the community. Along with the new vehicular battle royale game mode, H1Z1 launches with a plethora of new features designed to enhance the game’s competitive nature and fast-paced combat.

February 28, 2018 – Created by Movie Games, a Polish publisher and developer and Illusion Ray, a company that merges moviemaking with the game industry experience, begun its Kickstarter funding on 20th February and has already surpassed the 50% funding mark. Marvel Television Unveils Panels and Signings for WonderCon 2018 #MarvelWonderCon

Los Angeles, CA (Feb 28, 2018) – Marvel Television returns to WonderCon with the fan-favorite Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Con debut of brand-new series for Freeform, Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger. Marvel Animation returns with an exciting panel that takes the fans on a behind-the-scenes look at the production process for some of the animation team’s most popular series and upcoming new projects. Join us for the not to be missed panels with the popular cast and creators, featuring premieres of never-before-seen footage, exclusive signings, and a few fun surprises along the way – all starting Friday, March 23 through Saturday, March 24.

Freeform’s new original series “Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger” is the story of Tandy Bowen (Olivia Holt) and Tyrone Johnson (Aubrey Joseph) – two teenagers from very different backgrounds, who find themselves burdened by newly acquired superpowers which are mysteriously linked to one another. Tandy can emit light daggers and finds hope in the light, while Tyrone has the ability to control darkness which gives him the power he needs. Ubisoft Acquires 1492 Studio

PARIS – February 28, 2018 – Today, Ubisoft announced the acquisition of 1492 Studio, a game development studio specializing in the development of free-to-play episodic and interactive stories on mobile.

Founded in 2014 and based near Montpellier, France, the team at 1492 Studio created the successful mobile franchise “Is it Love?”

“Is it Love?” is a series of interactive dramas in which a player’s choices shape their storyline, determines their discoveries and deepens their relationships in the game. “Is it Love?” enthralling narratives, stylized artwork and interactive design have helped make it one of the top five grossing mobile simulation games in France and one of the top 20 in the U.S.

“‘Is It Love?” already is one of the leaders in episodic, narrative-driven mobile games, with a highly-engaged community of players,” said Jean-Michel Detoc, executive director of Ubisoft Mobile. “This deal is in keeping with our strategy of reaching new audiences through smart, targeted, and highly profitable acquisitions.”

“We are delighted to join Ubisoft. “Is It Love?” is already a fast growing success, and we believe that with Ubisoft’s international network and marketing power the series has the potential to become known and enjoyed all over the world,” said Claire and Thibaud Zamora, co-founders of 1492 Studio.

This acquisition of 1492 Studio is expected to be immediately accretive to Ubisoft’s earnings. The acquisition was completed on February 28, 2018. Additional terms of the deal are not being disclosed.
