Crossout Update to Bring the Knight Riders

Thursday, April 19, 2018 — The post-apocalyptic world of Crossout is again being visited by the ‘Knechte’, a nomadic faction of warriors roaming the wastelands. And as before, the industrious Teutons are offering their wares to those survivors proving their loyalty to the Order, including rare vehicle parts, completely new and exclusive weapons, as well as unique vehicle paints and decorations. The Knechte remain in the world of Crossout from April 19th to May 3rd, giving all players plenty of time to get the equipment.

To show their loyalty, courageous survivors can participate in a special PvP mission, earning golden ‘Talers’ as a reward – the only currency recognized by the Knechte. Accumulated Talers can be spent on the faction’s workbench to craft said equipment, which can then be installed on one’s own vehicle or sold for good profit on the in-game market.

The most impressive parts available are a selection of new weapons including five entirely new ones. Those may seem familiar at first, but all excel in their own regard as the Knechte, while roaming the wastelands, scavenged and improved other faction’s equipment by giving it their own individual touch. Especially interesting here is the single-shot ‘Fafnir’, an improved Junkbow shotgun with a speed-based stabilization system; the faster you go, the more accurate it becomes. The fast-firing ‘Aspect’ machine gun may offer less accuracy, but in return increases in damage output the hotter its barrel becomes. Truly medieval is the ‘Spike-1’, a huge crossbow capable of firing almost anything with lethal effect, be that strings, cables or other pieces of metal. Additionally, the faction’s workbench offers unique vehicle paints in the colors of the Order, new decorative items and a set of wheels in style of a medieval carriage.

Those items and weapons can only be constructed while the Knechte are visiting the wastelands of Crossout, so there’s little time to waste! Survivors need to hurry and earn and spend their Talers before the Knechte departure our familiar lands again, as those coins will otherwise be useless until their eventual return in the future. Moreso, thrifty survivors can craft additional items to later sell on the market to those who did not have the chance to participate.

More information about the event and the Knechte equipment obtainable during the event can be found here: https://crossout.net/en/news/523/current/

Budapest, Hungary – 19 April, 2018 – NeocoreGames has announced that the release of Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor – Martyr is delayed until 5 June, 2018.

Unfortunately we have to push back the release date of Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor – Martyr a few weeks. We need a little more time to ensure that the first Action RPG in the Warhammer 40,000 Universe is a truly great experience for all of our players, regardless of their platform of choice.

Snakebyte Dual Review: Twin: Charge X And Battery: Kit Pro

I play a lot of video games and I often find myself having to stretch out a long micro USB cord so that I can finish playing when my controller battery on my Xbox One is out of juice.  Thankfully, I now have the opportunity to try out a couple items that might help me keep going! Enter: the Snakebyte Twin: Charge X and the Snakebyte Battery: Kit Pro.

The Snakebyte Twin: Charge X allows you to charge and keep two Xbox One controllers in one place. It also allows for quick charging of the controllers thanks to two included 900 mAH batteries. Install these in your controllers and place them on the Twin: Charge X unit. With the increased capacity of the included batteries, you can get between 10 and 12 hours of play. This means that if I have managed to charge both of the batteries, I can get between 20 and 24 hours straight of single player time without charging (just swapping the controllers when one loses power). And, let’s face it, if I play any longer than 24 hours in one sitting, I’m losing the sharpness on my skills fast and affecting my health (ed. note: GamingShogun.com always recommends taking breaks during your play sessions for hydration and nourishment – and sleep. You can’t play if you’re dead!).

The Twin: Charge X charging station is designed so that the controllers sit at an upward slant while also featuring a charging indicator that changes light when each controller is fully charged up. The station draws its power from one USB port on your Xbox One or wall outlet. The slanted design is particularly nice to help controllers slide into place. If I could think of any improvement it would be possibly having some sort of clip that holds the controllers in their charging docks since I have a nosy cat who knocked one of the controllers around just enough to stop it from charging. Pesky kitty!

If you do not want to go the route of a dedicated charging station, Snakebyte also puts out the Battery: Kit Pro. The Battery: Kit Pro is a combo pack containing one of their batteries and a USB charging cable. This design means you can plug your controllers into separate locations but each controller takes up a USB or wall socket location. You also don’t have the battery indicator and clean look that comes with the Twin: Charge X but if you want to simply things the most you just plug the batteries into USB or wall adapters and put the controller wherever you want in a separate location. The nice thing about this product is that you get an upgraded battery over your standard Xbox One controller’s. It should be noted that the Battery: Kit Pro batteries do not work with the Twin: Charge X station.

Both the Snakebyte Twin: Charge X and the Snakebyte Battery: Kit Pro have pros and cons to be weighed but both are great solutions to keep your Xbox One gaming going longer than before.

NAB 2018 Post-Mortem

NAB, or the National Association of Broadcasters, has become an international affair with people coming from every corner of the globe to talk about everything from lighting and cinematography to sound design and cyber safety, all in beautiful Las Vegas.

I have been attending the NAB show for nearly two decades now and I have watched it go from hardcore lighting, broadcast switchers, and satellite gear to what it is today. Now it shows off anything involving recording and sharing the senses. Over the years, astronauts have transmitted to the show from space and, this year, the Marvel Cinematic Universe was heavily represented! I learned about the the sound and video techniques of filming Jessica Jones and Black Panther while on another day of the show it was all about cyber attacks and their repercussions. There was even a session that went behind the scenes on the Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

But it wasn’t all about the sessions – Google was on-hand trying to figure out how best to help their customers while giving out fidget spinners and there were whole countries getting space to represent their smaller, local companies at this gigantic show. In contrast to all the square footage that the likes of SONY took up, there were dozens of smaller startups present just trying to get their name out there.

If you have ever been curious about the technology that goes into television and film production, you should check out NAB sometime, it is free to attend and an interesting few days every year!

Cities: Skylines Parklife DLC Announced

STOCKHOLM – Apr. 18, 2018 – Today Paradox Interactive and Colossal Order announced that Cities: Skylines will be getting a playful new expansion, Parklife on May 24, 2018.  Parklife is a lively new add-on for the PC version of Paradox Interactive and Colossal Order’s hit city-builder. The expansion will make your city more vibrant than ever with new amusement parks and zoos; nature reserves and city parks, giving new life to your empty land with custom green spaces.

Parklife adds new ways to play with everything from roller coasters and campsites to flower beds, fountains and flamingos. There’s also a new park area tool, five new maps, a ton of new assets and level-up features that increase your park’s property values in play.

More leisurely features:

•    Parks and Recreation: Use the new park area tool to create park districts wherever there is empty land, and new city services like Park Maintenance, which boosts happiness and effectiveness, and helps level up parks.

•    Brick by Brick: Customize your city with new buildings and assets, including a new sightseeing bus line, new service buildings, fresh attractions like amusement parks, nature reserves, city parks and zoos. There’s also a regal new monument, the Castle of Lord Chirpwick.

•    Freeway Free for All: For the first time in Cities: Skylines, you can place buildings next to paths in the park districts (not just next to roads). Props can be placed anywhere inside park areas.

•    Recesses Between Buildings: Transform those empty spaces between your buildings into vibrant parks and gardens.

•    It’s a Walk in the Park: Customize routes and set ticket prices for new walking and sightseeing tours, among other tourism enhancements.

•    Policies, Please: Take on three new city policies and eight new park policies to deal with recreational hazards like Fireworks and Animal Ethics.

More than that, Cities is adding a new radio station: Country Road Radio. The radio host is pure Dixieland Delight, spinning six instrumental tracks and ten songs with original vocals covering Appalachian Folk, Bluegrass/Honky Tonk, Nashville Modern Country and Unplugged country.

In addition to the paid expansion, Cities: Skylines will also get a free PC update, as usual, including a new tourism panel, trees that reduce noise pollution, a camera mode upgrade, new tourist models, and new modding features, including submeshmodding and an improved camera system so users can control the camera with scripts.

MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries Destruction Trailer

Here’s a new trailer for MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries that shows off the game’s various destruction types that will affect the player during their quest for mercenary glory.

TYPES OF DESTRUCTION:

  • MECH DAMAGE: Mechs will take damage to various parts, including limbs – and depending on what has been damaged on your mech will vastly affect how you can perform in battle. If your leg is destroyed you may not have the stamina or speed to get back to your dropship in time, for example.
  • ENVIRONMENT DAMAGE: Environments can cause damage as much as an environment can absorb damage. If you are on a hot planet and running a larger/quick-to-overhead mech build, you will be able to deal far less damage to your enemies. Additionally, in both urban and natural environments you will have the ability to use buildings, certain rock formations and trees as cover but all of it is destructible – so if getting at enemy mechs means taking down a skyscraper, THEN BY ALL MEANS…
  • ENEMY AI DAMAGE: MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries will feature numerous forms of enemy AI infantry and combat vehicles and helicopters designed to defend and protect bases, forts, mines or resources. Taking them out will require precision aim and a penchant for knowing which types of ammo and weaponry work best to deal with smaller but deadly and hostile units.

MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries launches this December. It is the first single-player MechWarrior game in more than two decades. Featuring co-op, full modding support and a campaign with replayability in mind, you will navigate your band of rogue pilots and crew into one of the more feared, respected and coveted lance’s (unit) in the Inner Sphere.
