Conclusions

When looking at the performance to price value of VisionTek’s new R9 280X, the conclusion is obviously that it is currently a smarter buy than picking up an Nvidia GTX 680 GPU. The cards both perform very similarly and you shouldn’t notice any drop in performance by choosing VisionTek’s option. Furthermore, the lower power needs of the R9 280X make it more energy-friendly as well as a cooler-running GPU, which could be a factor in smaller PC chassis.

Another aspect of the VisionTek R9 280X that may steer you towards choosing it over other GPU options is that the company offers a lifetime warranty on the R7 240 through the R9 280X graphics card line. This will be especially helpful if you want to keep these cards down the road. Again, I don’t know of another graphics card company that offers this, so kudos to VisionTek.

If you still have money to burn, I would suggest picking up TWO VisionTek R9 280X graphics cards and chaining them together in CrossFire mode. The price of two of the cards comes out to about $620 dollars, only $100 dollars more than a single GTX 680! It should be noted, however, that Nvidia recently dropped the price on their GTX 780 GPUs, with most of those now being between $500 and $550 dollars. The choice is yours.

We are awarding the VisionTek R9 280X a 5 out of 5 stars for its performance, quality, and value. You can find the VisionTek Radeon R9 280X over at retailers like Amazon.com as well as VisionTek’s official website.
