World of Warships Celebrates 5th Anniversary

World of Warships celebrates its fifth anniversary this September with a massive new update that’s going live today, bringing a new permanent campaign commemorating naval history through the ages, a new Dockyard featuring the Tier VIII cruiser U.S. Anchorage, a new battle type and loads of festive bonuses for the players.

Update 0.9.8 introduces a new permanent campaign titled “Five Epochs of the Navy” that honors the history of shipbuilding. Naval aficionados can travel through different eras in the history of shipbuilding by completing 50 tasks across five missions. Successfully finishing the task will unlock an Epoch permanent camouflage, which can be applied to Tier IX ships. The new campaign also comes with the Five Epochs of the Navy collection, which will take the players on a journey through five different historical eras of naval engineering. Elements of the collection can be obtained by containers of the same name.

Update 0.9.8 will also see the launch of a new temporary battle type – Asymmetric Battle – which will be available during the first two weeks of the anniversary celebrations. Historically, real naval battles frequently had an uneven number of combatants on each side, proving that tactics and strategy is the key to win over powerful enemies. In Asymmetric Battle, a team of five to seven Tier VII–VIII ships will fight against teams of nine to twelve ships of Tiers V–VI. By winning battles, players will earn a new temporary resource – Battle Tokens.

Players can build a new U.S. Tier VIII cruiser, the Anchorage, in a new Dockyard construction event. Anchorage’s in-game build comprises 20 phases, with 18 of them available to be finished by completing Directives. By completing all phases – also possible by spending doubloons – players will be awarded with the Anchorage and her National camouflage, a 10-skill Commander, a port slot, and a commemorative flag.

Furthermore, Update 0.9.8 allows players to receive a festive bonus for their first victory in this update on every ship starting from Tier V. Rewards include 2x World of Warships Anniversary camouflages for Tiers V–VII, 1x Gift container for Tier VIII that contains 5 special signals, 2x Gift containers for Tier IX, and 1x supercontainer for Tier X. On top of that, this new update also starts a new season of Ranked Battles for Tier X ships with 8vs8 format and deploys new visual improvements such as enhanced fog.

Further details on Update 0.9.8 can be found here.

The Tuskegee Airmen Come to War Thunder

Gaijin Entertainment announces the release of the “Raining Fire” Content Update for the military online action game: War Thunder. It brings the famous European SEPECAT Jaguar supersonic attack aircraft, the latest versions of the Russian T-72 MBT, the Italian heavy cruiser Zara, and dozens of other carefully recreated military vehicles.

Military history fans are getting the P-51C fighter plane that was used by the Tuskegee Airmen – the first African American military aviators to serve in the U.S. Army Air Corps (a precursor to the U.S. Air Force), as well as the legendary “Razorback” versions of the P-47 Thunderbolt fighter plane.

The SEPECAT Jaguar was a supersonic attack aircraft jointly developed by the UK and France in the 1960’s. While raining fire on ground forces is its primary function, this machine is capable of defending itself against enemy fighters. The SEPECAT Jaguar is equipped with 30mm. cannons and can be outfitted with guided air-to-air missiles and unguided air-to-ground rockets and bombs. It primarily served with France and Great Britain, most notably distinguishing itself in action during the Gulf War of the 1990’s. Ecuador, Nigeria, and Oman also operated modified versions of the Jaguar, and India still operates the Jaguar to this day.

The Soviet Т-72 was the most-produced tank in the second half of the 20th century. War Thunder players already use the earlier T-72A and T-72B version of this beast. The “Raining Fire” Content Update brings later models: the T-72B (1989) and the T-72B3 that can be further upgraded to the T-72B3 UBH. New sights, armour, engine, and other modernized components make this tank a dangerous opponent to rival nations and their latest tanks.

While War Thunder is constantly adding new Cold War era and modern military vehicles, there is always something interesting for World War II history fans.

The “Raining Fire” Content Update brings the P-51C variant of the P-51 Mustang that was used by the Tuskegee Airmen, the first African-American military aviators in the United States Armed Forces. They trained at Tuskegee, Alabama and bravely fought to free Italy and the whole of Europe from nazism during World War II. The Tuskegee Airmen’s aircraft had the distinctive “Red Tails” camouflage that is carefully recreated in War Thunder to acknowledge the plane, its history and the 79th anniversary of the first solo flight of an African-American officer that was performed on September 2, 1941 by CPT Benjamin O. Davis, Jr. There are also a couple more interesting WW2-era planes that American aviation fans have been asking about for a long time. The US P-47D-22 RE and the British Thunderbolt Mk.I. are the earlier models of the Thunderbolt. They distinguish themselves from the familiar later models with their signature ‘Razorback’ design – the original design of the P-47 prior to the introduction of the bubble canopy with the D-25 variant.

Naval battles fans should also check out the Italian heavy cruiser Zara. Protected by 150 mm of armor plating along the belt and vital components, Zara is at the moment the most heavily armored warship in War Thunder naval battles.

The full list of the new vehicles and other new features is available at the official War Thunder website. https://warthunder.com/en/game/changelog/current/1151

Cahal is a werewolf of the Fianna tribe. Married and father to a daughter, he suffers a tragic fate that forces him into exile. He must flee those he loves to protect them from his rage: his beloved wife, Ludmila; his daughter, Aedana, who he loves more than anyone; and his best friends Rodko and Ava, who have his back no matter what. Endron, the petroleum subsidiary for the mega corporation Pentex, is solely responsible for all his rage and violence. Mature, brutal, and complex, it invites the player to embody Cahal throughout his quest of bloody redemption. He’ll play an essential role in the great war led by the Garous against Pentex, whose activities are devastating the natural world.
