Lovecraft’s Untold Stories 2 Release Date Trailer

1C Entertainment and LLC Blini Games have today announced that the horror continues with Lovecraft’s Untold Stories 2. Launching May 17, 2022 on PC, Mac and Linux, the action RPG adventure with rogue-like elements and inspired by the H. P. Lovecraft mythology returns with a brand new, dark comic graphic style… Do you dare join the fight against the Unknown?

Lovecraft’s Untold Stories 2 continues the narrative of the cult classic first game, but this time players will continue the fight against the unknown with new elements like crafting – using blueprints and resources to create consumables and even new equipment. Reunite with old acquaintances and meet new characters, explore new procedurally generated locations, defend yourself against dozens of different enemies and face off against epic bosses. But beware… Lovecraft’s Untold Stories 2 is more challenging than ever before, and the tough nightmarish creatures opposing you will not give up easily!

This time, Lovecraft’s Untold Stories 2 gives you access to 6 different playable characters, old and new, each one with a different playstyle. The Detective, Witch and Professor return, and this time are joined in their fight against the Great Old Ones by the Medium, Veteran and Alienist.

Gameplay features:

  • Fight dozens of different enemies, monsters and terrifying bosses from the Cthulhu Mythos in this intense, challenging action RPG. Ferocious beasts in the Swamps, Asylum lunatics, City thugs and the demonic creatures from the void will test your resolve to uncover the truth!
  • Meet the 6 playable characters – 3 familiar faces from the series and 3 complete newcomers – each with their own weapons, gear and skills. Switch between them freely and pick the one most suited for the task at hand!
  • Collect hundreds of different weapons and clothing items, or craft your own – scour every last room in a level, open every single box and get rewarded with randomized drops of gear, money for trading or resources and blueprints for crafting.
  • Side quests are crucial – you can earn extra resources and items and get that extra bit of advantage you may need to be able to progress in the main story. Don’t forget to trigger side quests every time you encounter them, you don’t have to finish them right away, but keep them for when you need extra loot!
  • Exploit the roguelike elements – level maps are randomly generated, as are all loot drops. The game is not pure roguelike: if you die or choose to restart the level, you only lose progress in the current area. Use this to your advantage, and if you don’t get the loot you wanted; try again!
  • Make use of Charms and Amulets! Sacred relics which grant strange new abilities. Find those that serve you the best and make your journey unique – but beware, power may come at a cost!
  • Plunge into the world of darkness where every step could be your last. Balance on the brink of madness as you explore the Asylum and various other locales in the city of Arkham, Swamps, Enchanted Forest, even the Underworld and many more mind-bending locations, all in procedurally generated levels!

Lovecraft’s Untold Stories 2 launches May 17, 2022 on PC, Mac and Linux, and will be available through Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store and other digital stores for $24.99 USD / 24.99 EUR / £19.99 GBP, with a 15% store discount available during the first week of release.

This Means Warp Gets First Early Access Update

Outlier Games has today announced the release of its first early access update for multiplayer spaceship management roguelike: This Means Warp. The update will introduce new game-modes, advanced difficulty settings, along with new enemies and missions for players to encounter as they race across the galaxy.

Combining the best parts of multiplayer action with tactical roguelike gameplay, This Means Warp sees players (and up to three friends) make a perilous journey across the galaxy, engaging in hectic, real-time space battles, and more strategic non-combat encounters to better survive in an unforgiving universe.

The first update focuses on bringing greater replayability to This Means Warp with new game mode scenarios to unlock – curated experiences that change up the gameplay with different rules for each new run. Each scenario completed unlocks the next, all the way up to “Custom Mode” where players can edit the variables themselves and create their own challenges.

Players that have beaten the game once on “hard” difficulty will be able to unlock “Nightmare” difficulty, the first of an escalating scale of Nightmare modes designed to be played until they are no-longer beatable, all featuring progressively more powerful enemies and harder all around gameplay. Not for the faint of heart! The update will also introduce minor tweaks like crew experience, allowing crew members to increase their stats throughout a run – and a clutch of new enemies and mission types to add variety to any run.

Technical director and co-founder of Outlier Games Paul Froggatt said: “We’ve been blown away by the positive reception for This Means Warp since its early access launch last month. We see this first update as a way of delivering on the promise of the game to our growing community, by providing more variety and more ways to play the game while we continue to work on the long term roadmap. We can’t wait to show them what we’ve been working on and prove our commitment to making This Means Warp a truly community driven game, where players are involved in guiding it’s development every step of the way.”

This Means Warp is currently available on Steam Early Access for £12.39/$15.99 from May 2nd.

SCUF Gaming Partners with Coca-Cola Creations on Limited Edition Peripherals

SCUF Gaming, creator of the high-performance gaming controller category (NASDAQ:CRSR), today announced a collaboration with Coca-Cola® that features a run of limited-edition SCUF Reflex Pros, SCUF H1 headsets, CORSAIR K65 keyboards, and CORSAIR mouse pads.

These specially designed products, including the custom designed SCUF Reflex Pro Byte, are inspired by Coca-Cola Byte, the latest product from Coca-Cola’s new global innovation platform, Coca-Cola Creations.

“We’re known for innovation and the power of connection that we bring to our products. This opportunity with Coca-Cola and the Byte collection offers our community uniquely designed products at the intersection of creativity, gaming and culture.” said Diego Nunez, Vice President of Gaming Marketing at CORSAIR. “We’re thrilled to partner with Coke on such an exciting launch and hope they enjoy these limited-edition items.”

Designed in conjunction with the Coca-Cola Byte aesthetic, these limited-edition SCUF and CORSAIR products capture the metallic ethos of the original aluminum can while encapsulating the retro spirit and vintage feel associated with old-school gaming. Think 1980s Pac-Man with a modern pop.

The base colors are lilac and black, and there are unique design elements throughout the entire collection. For example, the pixelated pattern on the mouse pad is layered with light gray to add depth and dimension – a nod to 3D wireframes. The Coca-Cola logo is pixelated, deliberately oversized and is placed directly on the space bar of the K65 keyboard. There’s also an Easter egg hidden on the keyboard. (Hint: Look for the hot pink keys!)

“Coca-Cola Byte isn’t just the drink for gamers; it’s the drink for dreamers,” said Karen Schohan, Senior Licensing Manager at The Coca-Cola Company. “It’s meant to teleport you to a place filled with wonder – one with adventure, excitement, and possibilities. And, like gaming, the only thing that makes it taste sweeter is when it’s shared together. We hope you love these new Byte products as much as we do.”

Beginning May 1, the limited-edition run of 500 Reflex Pros, 500 H1s, 500 CORSAIR K65s, and 500 CORSAIR mouse pads will be sold exclusively at www.ScufGaming.com/Byte.

Arrow Films Unveils May 2022 Video Releases Including One-Armed Boxer

Arrow is turning up the temperature early this year with May releases that include an under-seen slasher gem, a martial arts masterpiece, and late ’90s neo-noir sleaze. It’s a great time to be a fan of physical media.

In the early ’80s, the slasher film reigned supreme. While franchises headlined by guys named Michael, Freddy, and Jason received most of the attention, smaller entries routinely popped up all across America. On May 17, Arrow will shine a light on one of these lesser-known efforts – Girls Nite Out. Originally released as The Scaremaker, Girls Nite Out is an oddball slasher directed by a former documentarian and produced by a pair of Ohio attorneys. A group of college coeds participates in an all-night scavenger hunt when the fun is interrupted by a killer in a bear costume. Arrow will be releasing the film in a brand-new 2K restoration and loaded up with special features, including all-new interviews with stars Julia Montgomery, Laura Summer, Lois Robbins, Paul Christie, Lauren-Marie Taylor, and John Didrichsen.

On May 24, Arrow will celebrate the life of the late, great Jimmy Wang Yu with the release of what may be his finest work – One-Armed Boxer. Yu directs and stars as Tien Lung, a martial arts student that loses an arm in the same attack that leaves his classmates and master dead. Fueled by revenge, Tien Lung studies the art of one-arm boxing with plans to track down the Hook gang responsible for his unfortunate predicament. One-Armed Boxer is widely regarded as one of the most influential martial arts films of the ’70s and the film that put Jimmy Wang Yu on the map. Director Quentin Tarantino has referred to it as “one of the best martial arts films ever made,” and it paved the way for an iconic sequel in Master of the Flying Guillotine. The new release from Arrow features a 2K restoration, audio commentary with Frank Djeng from the NY Asian Film Festival, a career retrospective interview with Wang Yu, and much, much more.

Things get hot and steamy in 4K on May 24 with the release of John McNaughton’s Wild Things in both standard Blu-ray and UHD Blu-ray. Matt Dillon stars as a high school guidance counselor accused of rape by two students (Denise Richards and Neve Campbell). During the highly controversial trial, a police detective (Kevin Bacon) begins to suspect the trio may be in cahoots. Critics have praised Wild Things as “delightfully salacious” and a treat for lovers of trash cinema. Famed critic Roger Ebert gave the film 3 out of 4 stars, calling it a “three-way collision between a softcore sex film, a soap opera and a B-grade noir.” Arrow is proud to present the film with 4K restorations of both the Original Theatrical Version and the Unrated Edition from the original camera negatives by Sony Pictures Entertainment. Special features include two audio commentary tracks, new interviews with McNaughton and Richards, a making-of documentary, a double-sided fold-out post, and more. This is truly the release that Wild Things has always deserved.

Arrow Video Unveils May 2022 Lineup Including the Puppet Master Franchise

Arrow Video is excited to announce the May 2022 lineup of their new subscription-based ARROW platform, available to subscribers in the US, Canada, the UK and Ireland.

The May 2022 lineup leads with the ARROW release of Charles Band’s B-movie flagship Puppet Master franchise, available to subscribers in the US, UK, Canada and Ireland. The original classic will debut on ARROW May 1, with selected sequels joining the service throughout the month.

The behemoth that is the Puppet Master franchise hits ARROW, ready to make you make very sure that any toy boxes are securely locked before you go to bed. The flagship series of B-movie mogul Charles Band’s horror, sci-fi and fantasy studio, Full Moon Pictures, the first Puppet Master became a video rental store legend in 1989 and the franchise continues unleashing new terrors to this very day.

Settle in for our enormous feast of murderous marionette movies featuring a brilliant cast of killer puppets offing their victims in fun and imaginative ways. With new toys and expansions and explanations of the lore constantly keeping the series fresh and exciting, ARROW’s Puppet Master Collection rollout will keep you laughing and gasping for literally days.

May 1 starts the month with Puppet Master, the 1989 classic that kicked off a legendary b-movie franchise (UK/US/CA/IRE).

May 2 begins this month’s Seasons with the fourth and craziest (so far) collection from Vinegar Syndrome. Vinegar Syndrome Collection Volume IV includes cult craziness and sleazy zaniness that ARROW subscribers deserve. Available in the US, UK, Canada and Ireland, fans can soon enjoy Fugitive Girls – the gleefully pervy prisonsploitation penned by Ed Wood himself; the deliciously debauched nightmare Sweet Trash; there’s also Sweet Sugar – the story of a nymphomaniac entrapped and forced onto a sugar cane chain gang; The Hang Up – a tale of an LA vice cop having a forbidden affair with a prostitute; and Runaway Nightmare, which features worm farmers being kidnapped by a gang of female gun-runners and used as sex slaves.
Titles include: Runaway Nightmare, Sweet Sugar, Fugitive Girls, The Hang Up.

May 2 blooms big with a number of new releases: Puppet Master II (UK/US/CA/IRE), Shot (US/CA), Bloodsuckers from Outer Space (US/CA), Fugitive Girls (UK/US/CA/IRE), Sweet Sugar (UK/US/CA/IRE), The Hang Up (UK/US/CA/IRE), Sweet Trash (UK/US/CA/IRE), Runaway Nightmare (UK/US/CA/IRE), Viva (UK/US/CA/IRE), Her Private Hell (UK/US/CA/IRE).

The first week of May brings more murderous toys with Puppet Master III: Toulon’s Revenge on May 3, Puppet Master 4 on May 4, and on May 5, the slightly inaccurately named Puppet Master 5: The Final Chapter.

May 6 shines with a Season that curates a triptych of post-apocalyptic science-fiction action movies: The Bronx Warriors Trilogy (UK/US/CA/IRE). Full of influences from the likes of John Carpenter, Walter Hill and Sergio Leone, and elements of everything from Mad Max 2, Escape From New York and The Warriors, these three films (1990: The Bronx Warriors, The New Barbarians, Escape from the Bronx) will absolutely thrill genre and exploitation fans.

The Bronx Warriors Trilogy includes: The New Barbarians, Escape from the Bronx, 1990: The Bronx Warriors.

As the weather warms up, so does ARROW. On May 6, close the blinds with Sangre y sexo: The Films of José Larraz (UK/US/CA/IRE). Blood and sex. Audiences love it and the works of cult Spanish genre filmmaker José Ramón Larraz are dripping in it.

Collecting together some of Larraz’s best films, Sangre y Sexo provides a perfect cross-section of Larraz’s work – from the higher-brow but still full of skin and slayings. Titles include: Deadly Manor, Whirlpool, Edge of the Axe, The Coming of Sun.

Other new ARROW titles on May 6 include Anatomia Extinction (UK/US/CA/IRE), Curse of the Puppet Master (UK/US/CA/IRE), Mega Time Squad (US/CA), A Town Called Panic (US/CA).

The rollout of murderous marionettes continues on May 7 with the origin story Retro Puppet Master (UK/US/CA/IRE) and Puppet Master: The Legacy (UK/US/CA/IRE) on May 8. Head back to World War II for a three night ARROW Event to see how the indestructible Toulon puppets held the key to the fate of the free world: Puppet Master: Axis of Evil (UK/US/CA/IRE) beginning May 10, Puppet Master X: Axis Rising (UK/US/CA/IRE) beginning May 11 and concluding with Puppet Master: Axis Termination (UK/US/CA/IRE) on May 12.

For those who haven’t had enough of killer playthings, May 9 will also see the release of Demonic Toys (UK/US/CA/IRE). North American subscribers will get a killer cleanser with Der Samurai (US/CA), a German mindbender about repressed sexual desires, bloody decapitations, and small town life.

May 11 pays homage to ARROW’s native shores with Britsploitation: The Norman J. Warren collection (UK/US/CA/IRE).

English sexploitation film director Norman J. Warren took the 70s by storm, shaking up the traditional-until-then idea of what British horror was and could be with a sharp increase in the saucy sexual and grimace-inducing gore quotients, as well as utilizing modern settings and younger casts than the UK’s traditional horror merchants: Hammer and Amicus.

Available in all territories are Her Private Hell, Satan’s Slave and Bloody New Year. Her Private Hell is an example of the softcore sex films Warren began his career making in the 60s. While it does hold the title of the first British narrative sex film, Warren did not enjoy making that kind of movie – even stating that he did think the British were capable of making anything truly sexy because of our inherent Britishness! – and also did not want to be pigeon-holed, so for his benefit, and most definitely also for film fans’, he pivoted into horror.
Titles include: Her Private Hell, Satan’s Slave, Bloody New Year.

May 13 offers a trio of dark and deranged titles: Blade: The Iron Cross (UK/US/CA/IRE): Dr. Hauser, the Third Reich’s maddest scientist, rises again with murder and mayhem on his mind; The Devil Bat (UK/US/CA/IRE): Bela Lugosi stars as a scientist who commands a mutant bat to avenge himself upon his enemies using a specially formulated after-shave lotion as the targeting device; Them (US): A young couple lead a happy, quiet life in the countryside. But little do they know they’re being surrounded. When night falls, the couple will come face to face with Them.

On May 16, it’s time for Girls Nite Out (UK/US/CA/IRE). A host of familiar genre faces including Hal Holbrook (Creepshow), Rutanya Alda (Amityville II: The Possession), Julia Montgomery (The Kindred) and Lauren-Marie Taylor (Friday the 13th Part 2) rounds out the cast of this gloriously mean-spirited slice from the slasher golden age. Girls Nite Out is a decidedly singular slasher flick which comes on like a frenetic cross between Animal House and Friday the 13th – veering from jovial frat antics to jarringly disturbing scenes of the killer shrieking obscenities as he slices up his victims. On this nite out, no one is coming home!

Also on May 16: LFO (UK/US/CA/IRE), a darkly comic sci-fi thriller that follows an amateur scientist who hypnotizes his neighbors, subjecting them to increasingly outlandish scenarios in order to fuel his megalomania.

May 20 brings us to our final Season, a tribute to Italian spaghetti western maestro Enzo Castellari: Inglorious Enzo: The Castellari Collection (UK/US/CA/IRE), a man who used his talents across many genres loved at ARROW. Castellari made the giallo thriller Cold Eyes of Fear – which sees a playboy take a pretty girl home only to find a pair of angry convicts thirsting for vengeance waiting for him; the western Keoma starring the blue-eyed King of Cool: Franco Nero; the action-packed Italian crime thriller poliziotteschi The Big Racket and The Heroin Busters; and The Bronx Warriors Trilogy: a trio of futuristic action pictures set in a post-apocalyptic future.
Titles include: The Big Racket, The Heroin Busters, Escape From the Bronx.

Also on May 20, luxuriate with Death Spa (UK/US/CA/IRE) and enjoy German Angst (US/CA) an anthology featuring three stories – all of which focus on the dark, violent, and disturbing nature of love and sex.

May 23 wraps up the month not with flowers, but with death, betrayals and destruction. Psychic Killer (UK/US/CA/IRE): Jim Hutton stars as Arnold Masters, a harmless recluse committed to a mental hospital for a murder he didn’t commit. When his elderly mother dies from criminal neglect during his incarceration, Arnold develops psychic abilities to become an out-of-body killer exacting his revenge.

Harmonium (UK/US/CA/IRE): Toshio (Kanji Furutachi) sees his ordinary life take an ominous turn when Yasaka (Tadanobu Asano), a friend from his past, arrives unexpectedly. Recently released from prison and in need of a helping hand, Toshio gives him a job and generously takes him in to live with his wife and daughter. Yasaka gradually disrupts the family before finally causing irreparable damage. Koji Fukada’s acclaimed companion piece to his black comedy Hospitalite treads darker waters as it unravels a searing tragedy that has captivated critics and audiences alike since it won the Un Certain Regard Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival.

From the legendary star of One-Armed Swordsman and The Chinese Boxer comes… One-Armed Boxer (US/CA)! Yu Tian Long (Wang) is the best fighter to come out of his local martial arts school, but when he crosses the ruthless leader of a local crime syndicate, the big boss’ brutal bevy of deadly killers make mincemeat out of the school and everyone inside. Now the only survivor of the massacre, and short one appendage, Yu is gifted a powerful elixir that promises to give him the strength to take swift revenge on the army of assassins, each representing the most lethal forms of fighting from across the Eastern hemisphere. One-Armed Boxer proves once and for all that you only need five fingers of death to get the job done.

The Gunk is Out Now on Steam

Thunderful is pleased to report that its space exploring adventure, The Gunk, is reaching new frontiers as it launches today on Steam from 5pm CET. To celebrate the launch, a new accolades trailer highlights the compelling features that have engaged hundreds of thousands of players.

Not only will players be able to enjoy the exploration of their favorite alien world on Steam, they can also take advantage of the recently added photo mode. Post-processing photo editing options include the ability to adjust depth of field, exposure, field of view, add filters like “noir”, “sepia” and “cartoon”, and more. The mode also allows you to adjust the pose of protagonist Rani and even change her facial expressions to add personality to your snaps and perfectly match the tone you are aiming for with each shot you take.

The Steam release of The Gunk features support for some of the most requested languages from the community, including Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese, Russian and Simplified Chinese, allowing even more people to experience this compelling tale and captivating world.

In The Gunk, you take on the role of Rani, one half of a space-hauling duo that stumbles across a seemingly barren planet infested with a strange undiscovered substance they call “the gunk”. Rani and her partner Becks wonder if their days of scrapping for resources to make ends meet might be at an end with this unusual discovery. But there are other pertinent questions to answer: what exactly is the gunk? How did it get here? What kind of world existed prior to its arrival? And what happened to the ancient civilization that’s left only ruins behind?

The Gunk has a big emphasis on exploration with a wondrous and diverse alien world to discover featuring biomes ranging from rocky canyons, to dense jungles, to deep subterranean caves (this is the team behind SteamWorld after all) and a few more surprises. The gunk is turning all of these zones barren, but as you remove it using Rani’s upgradable goo-sucking power-glove, you’ll discover a flourishing ecosystem seemingly suppressed by this mysterious and destructive gunk.
