NHL 19 Launch Trailer

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. — Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: EA) today released EA SPORTS™ NHL ® 19, introducing players to the World of CHEL where they can compete in the great outdoors and journey from the pond to the pros. Powered by the revolutionary RPM Tech gameplay technology, NHL ® 19 delivers all-new skating and collision physics systems that make gameplay look, feel and play better. Over 200 playable hockey Legends gives fans that chance to compete with and against the greatest players to ever lace up the skates.

“NHL ® 19 is the first time we’ve been able to build and deliver an experience that spans beyond the pros and lets fans enjoy all forms of hockey – from frozen parking lot ponds, to big outdoor festivals, all the way up to the arenas of the pros,” said Sean Ramjagsingh, Senior Producer, NHL ® 19. “We’re also incredibly excited about the level of innovation that RPM Tech adds to gameplay, which we were able to gather incredible feedback around during our Open Beta to ensure that NHL ® 19 is the best-playing EA SPORTS NHL game we’ve ever built.”

In NHL ® 19, players can compete on outdoor ponds under a unified progression hub called World of CHEL that unites EA SPORTS Hockey League, NHL® THREES Drop-In and two new game modes, NHL® ONES and Pro-Am. NHL® ONES pits three players against each other in a festival-like king of the hill tournament featuring fast-paced, 1v1v1, free-for-all fun, with no rules and no stoppages. Players win games to rank up to new outdoor locations and defend their position on daily leaderboards. Progression and rewards earned in World of CHEL can be applied to each player’s Create-A-Character, allowing them to personalize their gameplay with new player traits and abilities, as well as express their individuality with over 900 new customization items.

At the core of NHL ® 19 is cutting-edge Real Player Motion (RPM) Technology in gameplay, which redefines the way movement and animations are showcased. Influenced by speed and creativity in today’s game, RPM Tech enables explosive-edge skating, giving players more control, faster acceleration and more responsiveness as they move up and down the ice, creating the most responsive gameplay in franchise history. RPM Tech is paired with a new collision physics system that introduces more contextual body-checking, bringing bigger, badder, jaw-dropping hits that are dynamic based on speed, size and point of impact.

Fans can pay homage to the hockey stars of the past with the inclusion of Legends, featuring over 200 of the greatest players from all eras, including Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux, Patrick Roy, Teemu Selanne, Peter Forsberg, Jean Beliveau and more. Players can compete as Hero Teams that combine squads of superstars from the past and present for an ultimate fantasy matchup. Play with the best of the best from all eras in both single-player and multiplayer modes.

Hockey culture shines in NHL ® 19 as players can create unique looks with lifestyle gear and apparel for the first time. Hoodies, jackets, parkas, winter knits, and more are available to wear on the ponds, including authentic apparel from brands like Adidas.

EA SPORTS NHL ® 19 is ESRB rated E10+ and available now worldwide on PlayStation ® 4 and Xbox One for $59.99 USD. For more information on EA SPORTS NHL, visit the website at www.easports.com/NHL. Fantastic Fest 2018 Unveils Final Wave of Movies

Austin, TX – Thursday, September 13, 2018 – Fantastic Fest promises an explosive grand finale with the Texas Premiere of Drew Goddard’s outrageously entertaining mystery-thriller BAD TIMES AT THE EL ROYALE. Seven strangers, each with a secret to bury, meet at Lake Tahoe’s El Royale, a rundown hotel with a dark past. Over the course of one fateful night, everyone will have a last shot at redemption… before everything goes to hell. Jeff Bridges, Chris Hemsworth, Jon Hamm, Dakota Johnson and Cynthia Erivo lead an all-star cast in BAD TIMES AT THE EL ROYALE.

Karyn Kusama will be in attendance alongside screenwriter/producer Phil Hay to present their gritty noir thriller DESTROYER starring Nicole Kidman in an astonishing role as detective Erin Bell, as well as the U.S. Premiere of Jonah Hill’s directorial debut MID90S with the writer/director Jonah Hill in attendance.

Also debuting at the festival is the North American Premiere of Terry Gilliam’s long awaited THE MAN WHO KILLED DON QUIXOTE, with Adam Driver as the world-weary ad man taken on a fantastical journey by Jonathan Pryce’s Don Quixote. And David Robert Mitchell’s Cannes sensation slacker-noir UNDER THE SILVER LAKE, starring Andrew Garfield and Riley Keough, will have its U.S. Premiere at the Festival.

Fantastic Fest deepens its cornucopia of genre titles from across the globe, including the World premiere of Quarxx’s visually hypnotic ALL THE GODS IN THE SKY, the International premiere of Polish-children-vs-rabid-dogs thriller WEREWOLF, and the North American Premiere of Venice Critics Week closer DACHRA, the first-ever horror film to come out of Tunisia.

Further additions to the program include the World Premiere of the new thrill ride from Nicolas Cage and Franka Potente, BETWEEN WORLDS, the World Premiere of the brilliant documentary AFTER THE SCREAMING STOPS about the iconic ’80s musicians Matt & Luke Goss and the band Bros, and the U.S. Premiere of the terrifying frontier horror masterwork THE WIND.

“2018 has been one of the most challenging programs to put together for Fantastic Fest, with a plethora of quality titles turning up at every stage,” said Fantastic Fest Creative Director Evrim Ersoy. “Even as we try to lock our program, we are confronted with brilliant, outstanding cinema and are determined to cram all of it into our program and dazzle Austin.”

With HALLOWEEN debuting on opening night, it was inevitable that we’d champion the most important of all holidays with an omega-powerful Halloween-themed costume/music/sugar/dance party. Candy buffet! Apple bobbing! Ghoulish bands! And more more will shake the walls of The Highball, with legitimately major prizes given out for the best and most horrific outfits, so dress to distress!

Tenacious D will appear IN PERSON (!!!) at the festival to premiere their six-part animated series TENACIOUS D IN POST-APOCALYPTO, hand drawn by none other than Jack Black himself! True to its title, the series finds Tenacious D thrust into a world of complete and utter destruction! See them battle for the survival of the human race! Then watch them perform LIVE in a post-screening pre-apocalyptic music set that will shake the pillars of the universe!

The Miskatonic Institute of Horror Studies will be at hand at this year’s Fantastic Fest to present a one-off special lecture by academic and scholar Alexandra Heller-Nicholas titled “Ghouls to the Front: Rethinking Women’s Horror Filmmaking” where she will be exploring examples from around the world from 1898 to 2018 of women’s horror filmmaking finding ways we can collectively rethink the history of horror more broadly to be more inclusive, more representative, and more fun.

Fantastic Fest is also delighted to announce the Jury Presidents for the four competition categories for the 2018 edition of Fantastic Fest. Co-president and co-founder of Sony Pictures Classics Michael Barker will be overseeing the Main Competition Jury, academic and writer Alexandra Heller-Nicholas will be the head of Horror Competition Jury, Toronto International Film Festival programming associate Dorota Lech will lead the Next Wave Jury, and director/animator Don Hertzfeldt will be heading the Shorts Competition Jury. From blood splatters to hidden relics, desiccated corpses to electromagnetic frequencies, search your assigned location for signs to fill up the Cryptonomicon – your guide to all things paranormal.

Arm yourself

Using the signs you uncovered and your skills of deduction, figure out what you’re up against and arm yourself accordingly. Should you grab extra silver bullets, or would a thermal imaging scanner be more useful to you? But remember: you can only carry so much.

Eliminate the threat

Take the hunt to darkness’ front door. With the knowledge you’ve gathered and an arsenal of (hopefully) useful gear, take down the creature that’s been causing trouble for your contractee.

Repeat

Turn in your contract and any valuable goods you found to make enough money to hunt another day. Then do just that as you take on your next harrowing contract!

Halloween Horror Nights Maze Preview 2018

Getting the chance to take a behind-the-scenes maze tour at Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights was always something that interested me. So I was over the moon when actually invited to attend one. I had the chance to take a walk-through of both the Stranger Things and Trick r Treat mazes while still under construction. So, I entered the studio through an employee-only gate and got carted down to the backlot. Now, we were only able to take photographs of certain parts of each maze, but I tried to get the best shots I could for you guys.

Trick r Treat

Located in the same spot as The Shining was last year, Trick r Treat sets out to recreate various scenes from the cult classic horror film. It accomplishes this in a similar style as The Shining did, using spartan, black hallways with chapter titles on the walls to introduce the scene guests are about to encounter. The maze goes through most of the big chapters of the film, and it should please fans of the movie. Guests who have not scene Trick r Treat may feel a bit lost – my advice to them is, naturally, SEE Trick r Treat! It is an amazing horror film that has become a yearly part of my Halloween tradition. One of the standout scenes we previewed was the school bus that was driven off the cliff and into the quarry. They have fabricated an entire school bus front end and the set dressing is amazing. They even have “Rhonda” there holding her lit Jack-o’-Lantern.

Stranger Things

Stranger Things is going to be outstanding. Not only does it represent the first time the studio has allowed a maze to be built inside a sound stage, but the production value and design going into it look top notch. This maze is housed in Stage 29, which was used by a large number of movies including To Kill A Mockingbird, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and even Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Its tall ceiling allows for very big sets to be built within and can definitely see plenty of room to accommodate a “Mind Flayer” hovering above guests should the maze return next year. This year, however, is all about season one of the hit Netflix show, and the maze takes you through all the locations of the season – from the woods to the Byers house and even Hawkins elementary school.

We had a great time getting the chance to see early looks at both of these mazes and can’t wait to check out the finished product later this week!

17 Years Later: Remembering 9-11

17 years ago this morning, a group of terrorists carried out a well-planned and organized attack on our nation. Today, in anniversary of this infamous attack, we should say “Thank you” to the first responders and military servicemen and women who ran and still run towards danger. We should say “I love you” to those important to us as we never know just what life has in store. We should say “We remember” to one another and educate our youth on the gravity of that day. And we should always remember that, while the world is full of people hoping for a better tomorrow, there are those that would have that tomorrow come at our expense.
