Tower! Simulator 3 Review – Control Air Traffic with Your Voice!

FeelThere’s Tower! Simulator 3 is one wild game. It puts you in the role of an air traffic controller, high up inside the tower overlooking one of many real world airports. The catch? It was designed for you to control this air traffic using the power of your own voice! It accomplishes this through the use of the advanced voice recognition. This is a real gamble on the part of FeelThere and begs the question, does it work?

You start out in Tower! Simulator 3 taking on the role of the air traffic control for some smaller airports and, as you gain experience, you can unlock larger airports like LAX! That is one complicated airport – so many taxiways and runways… But, I digress… You assign a push to talk button in the settings menu and then use it before you begin speaking. Throughout your shift, you’ll have planes requesting take offs, landings, go arounds, and all sorts of things. It’s up to you to keep it all coordinated and avoid any collisions or near-collisions. It is worth mentioning that the commercial version of this software is actually sold to ATC training schools to train their students. So, a certain dryness and level of detail should be expected. This is more of a sim than a game.

Making sure that your commands are understood and followed is heavily dependent upon what you are saying. Unfortunately, there is not a lot in the way of in-game tutorials. You need to refer to the instructional PDF and FeelThere’s YouTube channel for these things – even then, expect some learning curve. After about a half hour of stumbling my way through traffic control, I was able to blurt out takeoff and landing clearance pretty easily but there are plenty of more advanced commands to learn. Each airline has three letter abbreviation as well as an abbreviated name which is used to designate their aircraft. Keeping these abbreviations straight can be challenging but you begin memorizing them fairly quickly. Important tip: Remember that the number nine is pronounced “niner” in air traffic control speak. The game’s voice recognition is a big iffy on understanding you when using “nine” instead. I played Tower! Simulator 3 using both a BEACN Mic of considerable quality as well as a cheaper headset microphone. The game didn’t seem to have trouble understanding me in either case but it should go without saying that having a really cheap microphone too far from your mouth might affect the game’s voice recognition. There were many times when I think I was mumbling and the game definitely had issues understanding me. Make sure you think about what you want to say prior to pressing the “push to talk” button.

Visually, Tower! Simulator 3 won’t be winning any super awesome graphics awards – and that is okay! The game looks decent and is more than adequate given its simulation-based skeleton. Your main view is from that of the air traffic controller but you can actually spread out various screens (such as radar) onto a multi-monitor setup. If you have the multiple monitors to do this, I highly recommend it. Zooming in and out of the view and in-game radar screen is a bit clunky, as is moving around the control tower itself. But, this is not meant to be a walking simulator. The game’s sound design is also very spartan and more focused on providing a variety of pilot’s voices with whom you’ll hear over the radio. These voices are brought to life thanks to the good folks at the Acapela Group, who specialize in text to speech applications. There are many different pilot voices to interact with and you will use their voices as an additional way to identify whom you are communicating with.

Night Operations

One are where Tower! Simulator 3 is going to be tough to swallow is its price point. At $59.99, most casual gamers probably won’t want to shell out their hard-earned cash for it, leaving it only for the more serious simmers. It might be worth FeelThere releasing a cut-down edition (at a cheaper price point – or a free demo) with, say, one airport so that more casual gamers can get a taste of the ATC life and if they want to take the plunge into the full game. Another issue with Tower! Simulator 3 is that there is a general level of clunkiness throughout the entire game experience – a lack of polish, if you will.

Tower! Simulator 3 is a challenging air traffic control simulator where you actually feel connected to the airplanes you’re directing thanks to using your own voice as the control system. There is definitely a learning curve, but the game provides a good deal of challenge as well as sense of accomplishment for completing the shifts without incidents.

Wanted: Dead Enemies and Bosses Trailer

110 Industries maneuvers in with another installment to their Wanted: Dead Explained series, following the ‘Finishers Explained’ video. In this new trailer, learn all there is to know about Wanted: Dead’s enemies and bosses and how to overcome their attacks. Wanted: Dead is available to preorder now and is coming to PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S & PC on February 14th, Valentine’s Day 2023.

Developed by Japanese studio Soleil, Wanted: Dead serves a truly hardcore challenge with a wide range of enemy and boss types that must be strategically vanquished in order to progress.

In Wanted: Dead, you will encounter unknown teams of mercenaries, synthetic workers, an entire crime family and an elite private military, all prepared to skin you alive and hang you out to dry. Wanted: Dead is not an easy ride and will really test the player’s mettle as enemies will not go down without a fight so prioritising targets is one of the keys to success. From the previous Wanted: Dead explained videos, strategy in your fights is paramount as enemies attack in waves and you can quickly be overrun so using all of your skill sets and arsenal will allow you to conquer your foes in bloodthirsty style.

Stay on the move during your journey through Wanted: Dead or face certain death. If different types of enemy combatants weren’t enough, injured and limb-severed enemies are equally as dangerous to players as they will drag out the fight until their demise or yours. Keep a close eye on downed fighters as one wrong move or a sneaky grenade and it could all be over. Even low-ranking melee fighters can quickly deplete your health bar so making the right moves are important in order to quickly slash down enemies before they take too much of your vitals. When it comes to machine gunfighters, their strength is in numbers and if you rush in with no strategy you could see your life subscription being cancelled as a direct result.

In Wanted: Dead, elite enemies such as ninjas can easily make things go sideways with their varied attacks and fighting styles. Heavily armed exoskeleton fighters are equipped with heavy weapons and will occasionally barrage the player with grenades. Up close and personal, this enemy type proves to be the most dangerous on the battlefield and will require a certain level of mastery and daring to defeat. Is that a ‘Game Over’ screen you just saw? A few more of these and the ‘Neko mode’ is available just in case the player isn’t quite up to the challenge…

Since combat plays a huge part in Wanted: Dead, one of the essential ingredients to the game are bosses and they come in all shapes and sizes. These ferocious bosses include a mechanised walking tank with enough firepower to tear down a whole building. Synthetic worker turned revolutionary fighter that demonstrates some serious kung fu skills. A mercenary sniper with a cloaking device and a sharp blade that will tear you to pieces. A pair of insane homicidal twins out for blood and a slick sword fighter with incredible abilities and regeneration skills. Sharpen those blades, polish those bullets and get in the ring.

“We are very excited to reveal the varied and deadly enemy and boss types in Wanted: Dead that are sure to test your might,” said Sergei Kolobashkin, founder and Creative Director at 110 Industries. “Stay in the action and keep an eye out for more Wanted: Dead Explained videos coming soon!”

The Cycle: Frontier Third Season Dev Update Trailer

The Cycle: Frontier’s third season is heading to Steam and the Epic Games Store on March 29, 2023, with fresh content and new features. Today YAGER is sharing the first look at the game’s upcoming PvE monster, the Howler. As the first flying enemy to land on Fortuna III, this massive winged beast will make the planet that much more dangerous and hostile as Prospectors battle for survival. Check out the Howler in action by watching the new developer update video below!

The flapping wings and chilling screams of the Howler can be heard from a safe distance, but Prospectors are never truly safe from this terror of the sky. If they aren’t careful, a Prospector can attract the Howler’s attention and be forced to face off with a massive airborne challenge. Only one Howler can be active on the map at a time, but even the most vigilant Prospectors can become its unwitting prey.

If you’re unfortunate enough to face the Howler, take precautions because, at 50% health, this monster is known to use its special Howl Attack, which will affect everyone in line of sight before turning into an even more reckless and aggressive foe. If a team can defeat the winged creature, they will be rewarded with valuable items like Howler Darts, Howler Honey, and, if they are super lucky, Howler Syrinx.

Season 2 of The Cycle: Frontier is currently underway with “The Depths of Tharis Island,” including new campaign missions, gear perks, the New Fortuna Pass, and a variety of general game, balance and anti-cheat improvements.

Season 3 will arrive on March 29 featuring new changes including improvements to the matchmaking system, new campaign quests to investigate the Howler, and free loadout runs. Free loadout runs let Prospectors drop down to the surface with free basic gear provided by the faction of their choice, then let them keep everything as long as they safely evacuate.

Season 3 has much more that will be announced soon. Stay tuned!
