StarRupture Gameplay Trailer Revealed

Creepy Jar, the Polish studio best known for its wildly successful survival simulator, Green Hell, is hard at work on its next title, StarRupture. Built in Unreal Engine 5, StarRupture is an ambitious cross between base building, exploration, combat, and resource management on an alien planet torn by a catastrophic cycle of destruction caused by its life-giving star. Today, Creepy Jar is elated to give players a first look sneak peek into some of StarRupture’s dynamic gameplay with a focus on the hectic first-person combat in solo footage—because at its heart, StarRupture has a huge emphasis on its 4-player co-op component—to a base under assault from just a few of the dangers they’ll be facing on this far away planet.

StarRupture has three main gameplay pillars—base-building, exploration, and combat—and this action-packed trailer, taken from an early build, gives players a look at the pulse-pounding combat they’ll face in their bid for survival. Set in the far future, humanity has gone to the stars in search for precious resources. And the planet orbiting our namesake star, Ruptura, while being a resource-rich open world is also rife with dangers.

In the teaser clip, we see our lone explorer face off against hordes of enemies charging a custom-built base. If that isn’t enough, our exploding star is mere minutes from releasing an apocalyptic fire wave on the planet’s surface. All of our fighter’s vitals are looking good, but Creepy Jar isn’t forgetting their roots in survival and eagle-eyed viewers will notice not only the health and armour stats for our player/character, but also the thirst, toxicity, and hunger levels, as well.

Utilizing collected resources to create ammunition to load turrets as one line of defense, the player is valiantly attempting to protect a base under a full-scale assault and there’s no time to waste. As enemies make their way to destroy the base’s wind farm and storage buildings, a split-second decision is made to protect smelters and crafting pods from a terrifying new enemy assault on the other side of the base. While automated drones are busy zipping around their elevated tracks to deliver resources from location to location, the enemy assault becomes all but overwhelming. Making matters worse, our soldier looks up to see Ruptura ready to unleash its fiery blaze. With no time left to lose, the race is on to get to safety… but will he make it in time?

Taking what was learned over the 5-year journey of Green Hell, Creepy Jar’s experience makes it the perfect developer to support StarRupture’s three gameplay pillars of base-building, exploration, and combat. StarRupture sets itself in the story of man versus nature taking place in an otherworldly and breathtaking sci-fi environment where elemental cataclysms of extreme temperatures loom as a constant danger. The player takes up the mantle of a convict exiled from the Earth to serve their sentence by mining and expanding industrial production alongside researching new technology on a seemingly hospitable new planet rife with mystery and danger. Tasked with surviving the deadly waves of elements—not to mention facing down against hostile enemy monsters in tense combat—each cycle spells destruction yet ushers in a new era of growth and rebuilding. Played from a first-person perspective—adventuring solo or as part of an up-to-4-player group in co-op mode—players will be able to explore, adapt, mine, gather resources, and build complex machinery to survive and prosper.

Though by definition it is a base-building simulator, StarRupture is much more. The game will invite players to push beyond, to stay resilient and sharp against every assault, building and forming prior to the cycling eviscerating conditions on an otherwise beautiful planet. For fans of builders, management, sci-fi action, and combat StarRupture will challenge all comers to utilize the technology at their fingertips and weather both the extremities and fierce enemies in order to survive and create a prosperous industrial complex.

The team at The Chinese Room has been hard at work, and we’re excited to show you the cast of our Camarilla Kindred this week.

Seattle has been dominated by the Camarilla for a century. It is an organisation of Vampires that has fingers in many aspects of mortal society to keep power. The Camarilla Court is under the leadership of a Prince who dictates the laws maintaining the Masquerade. Under the Prince, there are several official positions, such as Primogen who represent major clans and a Sheriff to enforce Camarilla law. Each has a place in the nightly affairs of Seattle.

Exploring the city will introduce you to these Kindred, and you’ll have the opportunity to talk to and learn about them in their preferred surroundings. Phyre’s relationship with each can develop as you spend more time with them. Depending on how you play the games of vampire politics with them, they may grow to adore or abhor you.

Castlevania Brings Gothic Darkness to Dead by Daylight

The sun has set behind the castle on the horizon. Scarlet eyes pierce the darkness. Dracula has arrived in Dead by Daylight, thirsty for a hunt unlike any other. Dead by Daylight: Castlevania is available now, introducing a new Killer, The Dark Lord, and new Survivor, Trevor Belmont to The Entity’s Realm.

Reverence for the Night

In its second collaboration with KONAMI Digital Entertainment (KONAMI), Dead by Daylight adds yet another of gaming’s most storied franchises to an already legendary roster of horror icons. Few titles boast the staying power of Castlevania, delivering entries over the course of nearly 40 years that often resonate with their audience in very personal ways. The Dead by Daylight team, being among them, ensured their passion for Dracula and the Belmont clan would be felt in every pixel of this latest Chapter.

“Working closely with the team at Dead by Daylight, it was a real pleasure to see the love for the franchise and attention to detail that was present throughout,” shares the Castlevania Team at KONAMI. “We’re big fans of Dead by Daylight as well, and were excited about this collaboration from the start, especially knowing what our games and lore meant to the team at Behaviour.”

Variety is the Spice of Death

Harnessing that passion, the creative team put a major focus on one of The Dark Lord’s most unique abilities – one that’s never been seen in Dead by Daylight: shapeshifting.

Dracula’s Power is the ability to switch seamlessly between three forms – each specializing in a different aspect of the hunt to effectively create three Killers in one.

Vampire Form: In Dracula’s base form, players can unleash an attack called Hellfire, which launches a row of flames in a forward trajectory. This attack can traverse obstacles, including Pallets and Windows.

Wolf Form: Played from a third-person perspective, Wolf form specializes in tracking Survivors. Players gain a better view of Scratch Marks and Blood Pools, and any running Survivors will generate visible Scent Orbs which can be collected to quicken the Wolf’s pace and provide direction. Once their prey is within reach, players can strike with a lunging Pounce Attack.

Bat Form: Featuring a faster base movement speed and a third person perspective, Bat Form is a valuable mobility tool. With no Terror Radius and the ability to Teleport to a nearby Vault location, Bat from grants Dracula the stealth of night itself. While players won’t be able to actually see Survivors in this form, scratch marks remain visible, and footsteps become much easier to hear.

Imposing, regal, and without mercy, The Dark Lord wears his disdain for humanity on his elegantly woven sleeve. This is never more apparent than in his Mori which sees him casually slit a victim’s throat with razor-sharp fingernails, before catching the blood in a glass and drinking it down as they die at his feet.

Vampire Killer

No stranger to the supernatural, Survivor Trevor Belmont’s eternal battle with The Dark Lord rages on in The Fog. Here, he’ll be forced to contend with a version of his nemesis in a series of endless Trials, relying on the traits that make him the quintessential Belmont to help his team survive. Trevor Belmont introduces three new Perks to Dead by Daylight.

Eyes of Belmont: When a Generator is completed, the Killer’s Aura is briefly revealed. Whenever the Killer’s Aura is revealed, it remains visible for longer.
Exultation: When the player Pallet Stuns a Killer while holding an Item, it will upgrade to the next tier (if possible).
Moment of Glory: Moment of Glory activates after rummaging through a number of chests. Whenever the player becomes injured, they become Broken instead and will heal 1 Health State after a duration.

Elegant Darkness

With almost four decades of games under its cape, the Castlevania franchise has no shortage of iconic characters and styles. The Castlevania Collection allows players to delve deeper into the lore of this intricate series, embodying key players of the Belmont and Dracula bloodlines and beyond.

Available today, cosmetics for Trevor Belmont include Very Rare Outfits from Leon and Simon Belmont, as well as a Legendary Outfit for Symphony of the Night’s Alucard that offers players an entirely new experience. Also featured are Outfits for The Dark Lord from the classic games Dracula X, and Castlevania Chronicles.

Releasing Sept. 12, a Sypha Belnades-inspired Very Rare Outfit for Mikaela Reid, and a Maria Renard-inspired Very Rare Outfit for Kate Denson will also be added to the Collection.
