Awesomenauts Announced for XBLA and PSN with First Screenshots

dtp Entertainment and Ronimo Games have announced Awesomenauts, an upcoming side-scrolling battle arena title that is due out on the Xbox LIVE Arcade and PlayStation Network later this year. They also released the first screenshots from the title, which you can see below. The game will be first demoed at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in a few weeks.

“We are thrilled to surprise the world with Awesomenauts at E3, and look forward to announcing further details then. If MOBA games and classic animated series were to have a baby, this would be it!”, says Jasper Koning, co-founder of Ronimo Games. “They don’t make ’em like this anymore!”

Renegade Ops First Trailer Released

SEGA has released the first trailer for their upcoming XBLA/PSN/PC arcade shooter, Renegade Ops. The game is being developed by Just Cause 2 developer Avalanche Studios and is due out sometime this Summer.

inFamous 2 Gone Gold, Opening Cinematic

SCEA and Sucker Punch Productions have announced that their upcoming inFamous 2 has gone gold and is on-target for a June 7th release date for the PlayStation 3 platform. They also released the game’s opening cinematic.

Ubisoft Motion Pictures Planning Assassins Creed Film, Others

Ubisoft has announced that it’s motion picture arm, Ubisoft Motion Pictures, is developing “3d features” based on three of it’s most popular franchises: Assassin’s Creed, Ghost Recon, and Splinter Cell.

“Our strategy is not to diversify but to bolster the appeal of our franchises — that’s why we want to make sure our films will reflect the brands accurately and consolidate our fan base while expanding beyond the games’ primary target audience,” de Rivieres said.

The motion picture division will be heading to LA in June to meet with studio execs and scripts are expected to be finished by year’s end.

Sony Announces Phased PSN Restoration Process

Sony has announced a phased restoration of their PlayStation Network and its assorted processes in this official video. Additionally, services have been steadily return across many parts of North America, as can be seen in this official Sony blog post.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Teaser Trailers

With E3 right around the corner, Activision has released the teaser trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.  Dubbed ‘America Under Siege’, the trailer shows a bit of the story, with what appears to be a Russian submarine launching sea to ground missiles into New York City. Expect a lot more on this one in the next few weeks as we already have our Activision press appointment penned! According to Kotaku’s Brian Crecente, the game will be launched on November 8th, 2011.

SEGA and The Creative Assembly Working on Aliens Title

We have long-known of Gearbox Software’s Aliens: Colonial Marines and the ill-fated Aliens RPG from Obsidian. Now, CVG reports that SEGA has hired their long-time strategy stallion, The Creative Assembly, to create a new title based on the horror IP which Creative Director Mike Simpson says will be a “peer to Dead Space”. The Creative Assembly, known for their Total War series, is ramping up production on the title by adding on roughly forty additional employees.

No word yet on a release date, but we expect more Aliens-related news when we visit SEGA’s booth at E3 in a few weeks. Perhaps we can get a look at Colonial Marines?!?

Electronic Arts has released a brand-new trailer for the upcoming SpeedHunters DLC pack for SHIFT 2 Unleashed. Due out May 17th, SpeedHunters features two brand-new racing modes as well as new tracks and a grip of new vehicles to race and customize.

SEGA has released the first part in a video interview series with the developers behind the Nintnedo Wii shooter, Conduit 2. In the interview, the developers tackle game mechanics, multiplayer aspects, and a lot more. Conduit 2 picks up right after the first game ends, with Michael Ford following John Adams through a conduit.
