Sector 5 Black Ops Elite iPhone 5/5S Case Review

API5-1023-XXHX-2

Tactical phone cases are nothing new – ever since the first cell phones, people have sought to protect them in ruggedized cases. One of the most modern and stylish entries into this field comes from ElementCase with their Sector 5 Black Ops Elite iPhone 5/5S case. Retailing for $219.95 on their official website, the Sector 5 is not cheap. However, people who use tactical gear know that you get what you pay for. Moreover, the Sector 5 Black Ops Elite comes with a nice holster made from cordura fabric and even features MOLLE webbing on the back so you can attach it to your favorite plate carrier, backpack, etc. It will also snap closed in case you want to run a belt through it.

As for its design and quality, the Sector 5 Black Ops Elite iPhone 5/5S case is made from thin, CNC machined aluminum which is both light weight and strong. After getting the Sector 5 Black Ops out of the box, you need to install it on your phone. This is relatively simple and everything you need is in the box. First to be assembled around your iPhone is the aluminum frame, then you can clean the phone and adhere the back plate, which actually sticks on. The back of the case features a nifty clip to hang it on things but I can’t see someone paying the heft price point of this case and not using the included tactical holster with it. For those of your concerned not only with the physical security of your phone but also the information security, the box comes packaged with a privacy screen protector to keep prying eyes from getting good looks at what’s on your screen.

Actually using the Sector 5 Black Ops Elite phone case is effortless, as I have used rugged phone cases which add so much bulk to the phone its like the size of three iPhone 5s put back to back. With the Sector 5 Black Ops Elite, it almost feels like you have no phone protection while that being the exact opposite of the truth. The case is just so light – it is truly remarkable how strong it is for its weight.

Overall, the Sector 5 Black Ops Elite iPhone 5/5S case from ElementCase is an exceptional, if not expensive way to keep your iPhone safe from impacts. For people in a tactical occupation, who play action sports like airsoft, or simply like to protect their smartphones, you won’t be disappointed.  You can find it at online retailers as well as the official ElementCase website.

Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z Digital Comic Released

YNGZCC Cover

January 22, 2014 — Team NINJA and Dark Horse Comics today launched the three-part YAIBA: NINJA GAIDEN Z digital comic series, providing insight into the backstory in three revealing vignettes. Yaiba takes a break from slaughtering zombies in the debut issue to tell the tale of how his often bloody sword became to be known as “Heartless” as he recounts the story to Miss Monday. Initially released digitally with an all-new full color print comic to be available with the game, as it launches on its newly confirmed North American release date of March 18, 2014, the series is brought to life by Writers Tim Seeley and Josh Emmons, Artist Rafael Ortiz, Colorist Carlos Badilla with special cover art by James Harren. The comic will be available for free download at the Dark Horse Digital Store, www.digital.darkhorse.com, as well as through the Dark Horse Comics app (available through iTunes & Google Play). The comic can be found at:https://digital.darkhorse.com/profile/4128.yaiba-ninja-gaiden-z-1/

In YAIBA: NINJA GAIDEN Z, players will battle fierce zombies as Yaiba, a cyborg ninja who will do anything to get revenge and stay alive. Cleaved in two, he is brought back to life with cyber-technology. Brandishing his ninja sword and the mecha weapons in his cyber arm, he slaughters zombies with brutal, over-the-top abandon. Step into a stylized living comic book where stunning graphics depict a world gone mad. Hordes of undead can only be stopped by Yaiba’s willingness to use any means necessary to get the job done. Will he kill by turning his cyber arm into a razor chainsaw for slicing up undead—or just rip off an opponent’s arms to use as zombie nunchucks? Both possibilities fill Yaiba’s heart with twisted laughter in this collaboration between famed developers Team NINJA and comcept’s Keiji Inafune.

YAIBA: NINJA GAIDEN Z will be available for the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and Steam® (PC) March 18, 2014. This title has been rated M (Mature) by the ESRB.

Warhorse Studios Launches Kickstarter For Kingdom Come: Deliverance

KC_Deliverance_castle

Prague, Czech Republic – January 22, 2014 – Today Warhorse Studios launched a Kickstarter for Kingdom Come: Deliverancethe AAA PC and next-gen console title slated for a 2015 release.

Game Director and Lead Designer Dan Vávra explains: “So far US$1.5m has been invested into Kingdom Come: Deliverance, largely from a single investor outside the games industry. This is a big and expensive game, and we could hardly hope to raise the entire budget needed on Kickstarter alone. Since game publishers are not throwing money at us, we’ve made a deal with our investor: if we raise the relatively reasonable sum of US$500k, it is proof for him that the game has potential, and he would continue to finance us. Anything over the sum we’re asking for will allow us to create additional content and a better overall product.”

Kingdom Come: Deliverance is an open world, action-adventure RPG developed by a veteran team composed of talent that played key roles in the MafiaCrysisArmA and Operation Flashpoint franchises. Set during the Holy Roman Empire during the late Middle Ages, Kingdom Come: Deliverance is rich with historically authentic characters, themes and warfare.

Styx: Master of Shadows First Screenshots

Styx-03

January 22, 2014 — Styx: Master of Shadows is an infiltration game with RPG elements developed by Cyanide Studio for PC. After many months in development, Styx: Master of Shadows can now reveal the very first official screenshots: here we see Styx, the playable character in the game, progressing through some of the dizzying levels composing the adventure.

Styx is a Goblin two centuries old… the very first of all the Goblins, he’s a master in the arts of stealth, theft, and murder. The depths of the miles-high Tower of Akenash, where Humans and Elves hide and protect the Tree, the source of the Amber, are the best chance Styx has of quickly amassing a small fortune and, perhaps, discover more about his true origins along the way.

Battle your way to the top of the lofty Tower of Akenash through immense and vertiginous levels that highlight the vertical perspective. You will complete numerous missions with various objectives as you climb up – murder, information recovery, theft of precious artifacts, etc – and gradually reconstruct the puzzle that provides the key to the mystery of your origins. The levels are open and the objectives can be completed in various ways: you are therefore free to choose the best way to proceed and the most suitable strategy to employ to achieve and complete your mission objectives. But remember you’re a Goblin: if your target is twice your size, or more, you’re better off eliminating them silently. and in the back!

The premises of the Tower of Akenash are protected by many things: Humans of course, but also Elves whose science of magic cannot be overlooked, huge Orcs who have been victims of (more or less) successful experiments, but also other, stranger creatures. Guards, soldiers and other protectors of the Tower will adapt their behavior dynamically, depending on your actions: you better keep a low profile and prepare your plan of action beforehand. Study the guard patrols closely, use areas of light and shadow to your advantage, lure your target to a secluded area to assassinate him silently, or arrange “accidents” to remain undetected!

Styx: Master of Shadows also includes game mechanics right out of RPGs, so as you gain experience you will unlock new skills, special and impressive moves and new and lethal weapons in 6 talent trees! You will also acquire extraordinary powers from the Amber flowing from the Source Tree which will help you out of a tight spot, make you invisible to the eyes of your enemies and which you can use to generate “disposable” clones of yourself! Explore every inch of the levels and not only will you uncover clues about your past but also, and more importantly, valuable treasure that you can steal from under the noses and beards of the guards in the Tower of Akenash!

Stephen Barton Scores Titanfall

Titanfall_Gameplay_Thumbnail

Los Angeles, January 8, 2014 – The inaugural title from Respawn Entertainment (led by one of the co-creators and many of the principal developers of the Call of Duty series), Titanfall will be released March 11,2014 for the Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC, but has already garnered numerous awards and impressive buzz among critics and enthusiasts, having been shrouded in mystery for more than three years.

The game is entirely multiplayer, in a new experience that combines fast-paced action with the heroic set piece moments traditionally found in the campaign of a single-player game. There are two factions of protagonists with which players can align themselves.

This deliberate ambiguity as to who is the protagonist/antagonist, and the need for a musical signature for each side and an overall sound world unique to the game poses a great challenge for the music. Stephen Barton reflects, “in most films and games it’s pretty clear which side is the heroic side. Titanfall is much more ambivalent and complex, so that has to reflect in how the music portrays each side from each perspective.”

Relying not only on his extensive and eclectic experience as a composer, but also on his early studies of classical and ethnic music traditions, Barton is employing a vast range of both traditional and nontraditional resources, including numerous ethnic instruments, a heavy arsenal of electronica, offset with the more traditional orchestral elements familiar in cinematic music.

While some of the ethnic instrumentation for Titanfall was recorded in Los Angeles with particular specialists, Barton completed the organic aspect of the score at the legendary Abbey Road Studios, with a large orchestra assembled from the best musicians in London. In video game scores it’s becoming increasingly common to record many elements live, but it’s still a big deal for a game to do it at this level. Barton has recorded at Abbey Road numerous times before, but remains awed by Studio 1’s “iconic sound, warm but epic — everything recorded in there sounds bigger, larger than life” — as well as the “rich intimacy” of Studio 2, home to so many noted recordings of the Beatles and beyond.

For Titanfall, “the goal is to create a truly cinematic and unique soundtrack that draws you deeper into this all-new universe.”
