New ARMA 3 Creator DLC Goes Back in Time to the Vietnam War

Publisher Bohemia Interactive and third-party developer Savage Game Design are announcing today a major new Creator DLC coming soon to PC’s premier military sim game, Arma 3.

S.O.G. Prairie Fire will transport players back to the Vietnam War and deliver a thrilling and historic military sandbox experience on a scale not seen before in a video game. The S.O.G. Prairie Fire DLC is scheduled for release on Steam in the second quarter (Q2) of this year (2021) and will be priced at $22.99 USD (€22.99 EUR / £19.99 GBP). People can already add the Creator DLC to their wishlist by visiting its store page on Steam.

The name S.O.G. Prairie Fire refers to the “Military Assistance Command, Vietnam – Studies and Observations Group” (MACV-SOG), which was a United States Special Forces unit established in 1964 to conduct covert operations in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. This task force will play a central role in the DLC’s multiplayer co-op campaign. To portray the soldiers’ experiences in a more accurate manner, Savage Game Design has been closely collaborating with US Special Forces veterans who served in MACV-SOG until it was deactivated in 1972, as well as Vietnamese advisors.

Key features of the S.O.G. Prairie Fire Creator DLC include:

  • Cam Lao Nam Terrain – Explore a unique 300 km2 terrain representing the Vietnam War’s entire Area of Operations, including the Ho Chi Minh Trail which ran from North Vietnam through neighboring Laos and Cambodia to South Vietnam.
  • 4 Factions – Fight as the United States Army (including the covert MACV-SOG Special Forces unit), Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN), People’s Army of Vietnam (PAVN) or Viet Cong. All sides come equipped with their own uniforms and gear.
  • 50+ Weapons – Engage the enemy with detailed recreations of pistols, revolvers, rifles, shotguns, grenade launchers, and a diverse range of weapon accessories. Your arsenal is reinforced by deadly grenades, traps, and other special items.

  • 9 Multiplayer Scenarios – Play 9 new scenarios in Arma 3’s official End Game, Warlords, Zeus, and Escape game modes. The “Ash & Trash” bonus mission tasks you with flying routine helicopter missions around the beautiful countryside and landmarks of Cam Lao Nam.
  • 5 Singleplayer Scenarios – Become familiar with the weapons, vehicles, and equipment used during the Vietnam War in two new Showcase scenarios. Additionally, there is a mission for both MACV and PAVN that introduces you to jungle combat from either perspective. The “Ash & Trash” bonus mission can also be enjoyed in singleplayer.

  • Additional Content – S.O.G. Prairie Fire is complemented by various modules and objects that are usable when the DLC is loaded. This includes custom systems for battlefield logistics, artillery and air support, melee combat, and more – as well as 100 food, drink, and medicine items and over 150 building structures and fortifications that can be used to support community-made content and game modes.

Creator DLC is a label for original Arma 3 projects made by third-party developers and published by Bohemia Interactive (Arma 3’s official developer). This program enables external talent to earn a financial reward for their work, while players get to enjoy more new quality content. To ensure an optimal launch of the S.O.G. Prairie Fire DLC, Bohemia Interactive and Savage Game Design will host a small-scale, closed beta test in the next two weeks. Selected members of the Arma 3 community will be invited to report any remaining technical issues and help test the upcoming DLC on a variety of PC configurations.

Furthermore, on the day of the DLC’s full release, Savage Game Design will publish a compatibility data pack for non-owners to the Arma 3 Steam Workshop. Subscribing to this Workshop item will allow those who do not own S.O.G. Prairie Fire to still play on multiplayer servers that make use of the DLC’s assets. It will also let people inspect the new assets in-game before purchasing. Access to the DLC’s premium Cam Lao Nam terrain, campaign, and singleplayer scenarios, however, will remain exclusive to the owners of the S.O.G. Prairie Fire DLC. LA Haunted Hayride Producer to Help Produce DELUSION

Two of the biggest names in Halloween and horror entertainment are joining forces to produce LA’s most popular interactive event. This fall Jon Braver, Delusion Creator and Director, will once again bring this one-of-a-kind immersive and interactive horror theater to life. But this time, Thirteenth Floor Entertainment Group, the largest Halloween entertainment company in the world, joins Braver as the producer of Delusion. Braver will also join Thirteenth Floor as Director of Immersive Entertainment. The joining of these two Halloween heavyweights promises to bring fans their best Delusion experience yet.

“Delusion has always been my favorite immersive event, I have gone out of my way to attend the show for years. I have so much respect and admiration for the world that Jon has created with Delusion and am truly honored that our company will serve as its producer” says Chris Stafford, Thirteenth Floor’s CEO. “I think what will be awesome about our collaboration is that the strength and structure of Thirteenth Floor will allow Jon to focus his primary attention on ensuring the story and creative design is the best it can possibly be.”

As a fan, I can’t wait to see this production of Delusion come to life.”

The Gearbox Entertainment Company and Embracer Group announced today that they successfully closed on their up to $1.3 billion merger agreement. Embracer and Gearbox announced in February of 2021 their intention to merge. With this, Gearbox Entertainment is the seventh operating group in the Karlstad, Sweden-headquartered Embracer Group, which has an extensive catalogue of more than 240 franchises and more than 7,000 employees around the world. The merger fuels positions Gearbox for rapid growth with its robust IP catalogue, AAA development studios, and North American publishing capabilities.

Marvel Studios Black Widow Gets New Trailer

The World Series of Poker Unveils 2021 Plans

The World Series of Poker (WSOP) today announced much-anticipated plans for 2021, including the return of the live, in-person World Series of Poker event and $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em World Championship, best known as “The Main Event®”.

World Series of Poker at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino

The world-famous tournament series, which experienced record-smashing participation in 2019 and adjusted to a hybrid format to accommodate 2020, will be back in-person at Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino this fall pending applicable state and/or regulatory approvals.  Cards will be in the air for a diverse calendar of events beginning Thursday, Sept. 30 with all play concluding on Tuesday, Nov. 23.

The 2021 opening weekend is expected to feature a special charity event to benefit frontline health workers, a $25,000 H.O.R.S.E. and a $5 million GTD No-Limit Hold’em event billed as “The Reunion.”

Further details and specifics on the complete schedule will be released this summer.

“The Main Event” is expected to begin Thursday, Nov. 4 and run through Wednesday, Nov. 17.  Players will have their choice of four starting days on Thursday, Nov. 4, Friday, Nov. 5, Saturday, Nov. 6 or Sunday, Nov. 7. Players participating on Thursday or Friday will have their Day 2 on Monday, Nov. 8 if they survive the first day with chips.  Those selecting Saturday or Sunday for an opening flight will play their Day 2 on Tuesday, Nov. 9, with the fields combining on Wednesday, Nov. 10.

WSOP Online 2021

Building off last summer’s record-setting success for both domestic and international online poker tournaments, WSOP plans to fill the summer void with an exciting slate of WSOP Gold Bracelet online events.

In 2020, WSOP.com’s domestic series awarded nearly $27 million in prize money across its 31 events, making it far and away the biggest online tournament series in the history of U.S. regulated poker.

Similarly, WSOP Online 2020 was a massive draw for international players in partnership with GGPoker, with the WSOP Online Main Event smashing the Guinness Book World Record for largest online poker tournament with a $27.5 million prize pool for a single event.  In total, nearly $150 million in prize money was awarded across the festival, including seven-figure prize pools in 45 events, making it amongst the biggest tournament series in history.
